Are here on a quiet Monday night as we were at the hotel. The entrees were great, small filet and salmon with crazy good risotto. Nice ambiance, beautiful space. I really wanted shrimp and grits but it was going to be a wait due to the grits not being ready. I pivoted to something else. I asked not our server (who happened to be the bartender) but the person who delivered the food if there was any way to get a spot of grits whenever they were ready even if it was at the end of the meal. After finishing we were presented with a small takeout of grits which made the entire evening- they were outstanding. They recognized that they should have been ready and made up for it at the end. Nice way to tie a bow on the evening by being thoughtful. Hope to return. read more

I come at least once a trip during my monthly visits to Bristol from Atlanta. Great service and love the breakfast bristol starter with eggs and bacon. On my previous visit in December, I had the steak and eggs..was very disappointed that it wasn't a real steak like before...instead, got 2 pieces of flat meat that looked unappetizing and the price wasn't worth the $30. Skip that unless they change it back. Usually the food is excellent. I'll be back in March! read more

Wonderful brunch with a touch of class without being over the top about it. We were concerned that we might be a little bit to casual for this spot, but they welcomed us in for brunch in spite of our jeans and hoodies. We did feel a little underdressed compared to the others in the space, but not dramatically so. We were offered water right away and ordering our meals didn't take long. The waitress informed us that they have an in-house pastry chef who bakes complementary specialty breads for brunch. It may be Saturdays only and likely subject to change. But, we were given the tastiest basket of apple bread right after ordering. Super happy with it! I got the lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes. I believe they were a limited-run menu item. They were tart, soft, and all the good things you want out of a pancake. Also, the blueberry compote was definitely made from fresh blueberries. Yum! It also came with a side of breakfast potatoes, which were fried and tasty. I also went for the aperol pear spritz. It was a very nice breakfast cocktail and was much lighter than I expected it to be. I was expecting heavier pear representation. However, all the flavors played nicely with each other and it was a nice big glass that lasted for my entire brunch. One of the best things about the spot was that there was plenty of free and available parking. Since it is a little bit off the main drag, there are many more spots. Overall, I'd visit even if you don't have a Bristol Hotel room. I'd probably recommend a reservation, especially if you're coming in for dinner. There was no biscuit in my Biscuit Fried Chicken, but I digress. The green tomato salad had no lettuce, simply pickled green tomatoes with creamy house-made ricotta and a nice blend of tasty surprises. We went straight to entrées. My son had the strip steak with fries, which came out looking like something from a premium steakhouse photo ad. They left nice chunks of fat which cooked up beautifully and certainly added a lot of flavor. There was no meat left on his plate when he was finished. My wife had the shrimp and grits, the shrimp were HUGE, plentiful, and delicious. I had the biscuit fried chicken, which arrived looking like a large open face sandwich, with layers of comfort food! I took a photo. My meal was delicious, but there was no biscuit, even though I kept tasting biscuit, so I think the breading was made from a big fluffy crunchy biscuit and it was delicious. Definitely some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. I could cut it with a fork. It was juicy and so crunchy and flavorful. My dear friends took me to dinner at Vivian's table last night and everything was splendid! I ordered the Grilled Salmon with risotto and spring vegetables! It was ten out of ten! I got the side of parsnip purée with a hint of truffle oh my goodness I'm delighted our excellent server Amanda recommended it! We also ordered a baguette for the table and it was perfection. My friends ordered the same entree as I did but added a Caesar salad it looked and smelled devine. The table was right near the window and the restaurant was pretty quiet except for us when we discovered our server was from the same tiny town of 50 people where we live!!! What are the chances!! And I'm friends with her mom? Really haha a fabulous time was had by all the new Chef has improved the food there by about 1000% I highly recommend trying Vivian's Table when you are in Bristol. read more

Very very cute restaurant. Not huge but the attention to detail is great. It is located inside a hotel and next to the museum of country music so it maybe a little easy to miss. I didn't love my lox baguel there was nothing outstanding about it and the onions were very cold they were supposed to be sautéed ñ. None the less the drinks were great and the other options on the menu seemed and looked good as I was looking at every plate that walked by. Everything here was amazing but their banana bread pudding is the best thing I have eaten all year. I contemplated ordering 2 more. Took one star off for the dinner. Dinner I'd give maybe a 3.5 star, not bad but nothing you'd want to come back for. Very good breakfast. Excellent coffee with carafe at your table so , no waiting for refills. My gf had the Bristol Starter with scrambled eggs , sausage links and gouda grits . I tried the grits and they were the best I've had . No extra seasoning required. I had the 3-egg omelet with sausage, bacon, red bell peppers and cheddar. Perfectly balanced . The seasoned potatoes are great ..nice and crisp and not over-salted with the perfect amount of seasoning. It's rare for me to have a breakfast meal that I don't use hot sauce or at least pepper but everything was so tasty this meal required zero additional flavors. My boyfriend had the ribeye, shrimp and Asparagus and he said it was delicious. I have been to Vivian's table for dinner and it has been great but for brunch, not so much. first the restaurant was freezing. I ordered the Huevos I asked for eggs over easy. horrible. They came over hard. The Potatoes and the sausage were over cooked. they came with hard tortillas, who serves huevos rancheros with hard tortillas? it's not nachos. No refried beans. my wife ordered De-cafe coffee. they don't brew it. it came in a coffee bag (like a tea bag) with Luke warm water, we asked them to heat it up they brought hotter water but it cooled in 5 minutes, probably because the restaurant was freezing. I got a bloody Mary, mediocre at best. just vodka and old bay mix. I will not be back for brunch. read more

The meal was well prepared, the service prompt, and the atmosphere was solid. I had the short rib which had been sous vide for 48 hours and was quite tender as a result. I as surprised by the lack of parsnip mash compared to how heavy handed they were with the red wine demi. The mediterranean salmon was also cooked to our liking with the grill flavor coming through. The most unique dish in my opinion was their version of chicken cordon bleu. Which was stuffed with pimento + country ham with a country gravy. This was just a stop off on our trip home. We decided to eat at the hotel because it was cold out. We were pleasantly surprised by a great dinner. My husband had the Ribeye & I had the beef tenderloin both were so tender & tasty. We added the mushrooms & had a side of very great Brussel sprouts. The menu design showcases interesting concepts, with flavors and combinations reminiscent of those found in larger, more modern cities. However, the high expectations set by the restaurant's initial impact raised the bar for its food. Yet, as the saying goes, flying too close to the sun leads to a swift descent. This was the case with Vivian's. While some restaurants prioritize flavor over concept and vision, Vivian's takes the opposite approach, focusing more on pomp and circumstance than substance. Despite impressive plating, ideas, and vision, the flavor fell short. The most perplexing aspect of Vivian's was the excellent cooking of the dishes, such as the expertly prepared rainbow trout and perfectly cooked salmon. HOWEVER, the severe lack of seasoning was noticeable in every aspect of the food, leaving one to wonder if the chef had ever tasted his own creations. Additionally, the smoked trout dip suffered from extremely dry bread crumbs that clashed with the dish, accompanied by a baguette lacking the crust and airiness expected from a high-end establishment. My least favorite kind of restaurant is one that tries to do too much, and unfortunately Vivian's seems to have fallen into this trap. read more

Stayed at the Bristol hotel and were looking for a place to eat when the storm rolled in. We decided to head to the hotel restaurant and we are glad we did. Vivian's is fantastic. The staff was super friendly and really helped us out with gluten-free options. In the end I went with one of my favorite souther dishes - Shrimp and Grits. As you can see in the photo, the presentation was not what you would expect (a bit fancy). And it was great. My wife had the salmon and also reported that it was very good. Normally I don't think of eating at the hotel restaurant, but this one is worth it. Even if you are staying somewhere in Bristol, this is worth the trek. I saw what seemed to be locals coming in to dine here as well. To me that is usually the best indicator for a great place. read more

We were fortunate enough to get seated by the window with Krista as our server. She was also mentoring Tonya. We ordered a bottle of wine and the deviled egg appetizer. They were delicious with a crispy bacon topping. My husband and I both ordered the steak dinner with salads. Sitting inside the restored Bristol Hotel, the ambience is very cool with main level dining, exposed brick walls and windows looking over the downtown area. Our server was on point and attentive, explaining the menu in detail and checking in periodically throughout the night. We started with the Trout Dip and Deviled Eggs, which were ok. Trout dip was a little too fishy, not my favorite. But the entrees made up for it big time. We all ordered something different, so I we were able to get a good diversity of the menu. I ordered the Scallops, wife got the Shrimp & Grits and our friends got the Mediterranean Salmon and Cajun beef. The presentation on each dish was flawless, portions were more than adequate and the flavor of each of the dishes was amazing. Other than the mediocre apps, this dining experience would have been a 10 out of 10 including the service. It is pricey for sure, but what isn't these days. We hadn't dined here in a few months so we decided to head out for a date night on the Thursday after Valentine's Day. We sat at the bar and our favorite bartender, Brandon was working. The restaurant had a decent crowd and Brandon was waiting on the entire bar plus a couple of tables. As always, the service was excellent as were the cosmos that we ordered!!!! For dinner, I ordered the short rib served over potatoes and I added a side of Brussel sprouts. WOW!!! This meal was outstanding! The short rib was melt in your mouth delicious and the mashed potatoes were some of the best I ever had. Partner ordered the Cajun steakhouse pasta which was served over a bed of spinach ravioli. It was a pleasant surprise to find this high quality restaurant in The Bristol Hotel. We were warmly greeted upon entry and coffee was quickly served. I like that the carafe was left on the table so we could keep our cups full! Prices were very reasonable. Each entree was $12. My biscuits and gravy platter was huge as was Schweety's omelet. The short rib was deliciously paired with a lovely Pinot noir. The servers were kind and attentive. Would definitely recommend. I do strongly suggest turning the lights down by about 40%. Both meals were amazing. Why can I not give this MORE than 5 stars!? Food (5/5): For dinner, we had two entrees: LOBSTER AND WAFFLES (lobster tail, sweet potato waffle, maple-agave butter, peppercorn maple syrup) $48 A bit pricy, but you get TWO lobster tails with this dish. I have been seriously obsessing over these waffles ever since I saw a picture of these on the website. I am really obsessed with lobster and want to have them as many ways as possible before I die. I think this was my FAVORITE so far - and I just completed a lobster tour in Maine where I had lobster The lobster is DEEP FRIED, y'all, and then topped on these amazing butter and maple syrup sweet potato waffles that were thin and moist...I only ate half the waffles, but if I lived close by I would have taken them home and eaten them with a Popeyes chicken tender the next day. And.. APPALACHIAN STUFFED CHICKEN (spinach-parmesan stuffed chicken, pan seared & bacon wrapped, basil whipped potatoes, braised kale with glazed balsamic onions ($22). The chicken was so tender and the kale was probably the best that I have ever had. For breakfast the next day, we had Biscuits and Gravy and the Three egg Omelette. This was seriously the largest amount of food I have seen for breakfast - and each entree was only $12 each! The Biscuits and Gravy came with TWO biscuits, TWO sausage patties, a mountain of scrambled eggs and then a side of bacon and home fries - all smothered in sausage gravy. It was really overwhelming in a delicious kind of way! I could definitely tell we were in the south, y'all. Service (5/5): Both times are servers were really kind and attentive. I will start with the Mediterranean Salmon with risotto. It was a good choice. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the risotto was quite good. The trout with fingerling potatoes was very bland. The fingerling potatoes were undercooked. The dinner salads were good as was the ranch dressing. The deviled eggs were very tangy. Too much pickle juice in my opinion. The environment was nice. It is part of the Bristol Hotel. The food is a bit overpriced and no salt and pepper at the tables. The chef is of the opinion that the food needs nothing upon leaving the kitchen. As a first-time customer I was hopeful. But, supply chain? Management? Staffing? Expertise? Take your pick and the world that was...well, it was. Vivian's seems to be struggling as the rest of the world with post-pandemic adjustments. Aside from the beauty of the Bristol Hotel, the restaurant has a charming ambience of its own. But a restaurant's kitchen is key to the experience. Vivian may have misplaced her key. Wait staff were few, but pleasant and capable  for Sunday brunch. It seemed like a fair crowd as the dining room was still 30%-to-40% full when we arrived late in the brunch service on this 2022 post-Thanksgiving travel weekend. The menu was interesting and brief as expected for a brunch. The food had eye appeal, but its flavors were simply too far off-the-mark for both orders at our table. Both dishes were edible, but surprisingly bland. The shrimp was unpleasant enough that I would think twice before ordering again (supply chain?)
