French dip sliders and a Hi-Wire hazy IPA

A friendly, inviting place with a menu for all appetites, excellent beers on tap and excellent service.

    Cheeseburger and cheese curds

I like to find non chain restaurants when I'm visiting a new city and this was amazing! Tvo was our server and he gave great recommendations to choose from the menu. The side Caesar salad was amazing it was loaded with crisp lettuce and tomatoes with Parmesan cheese and croutons. The fried shrimp taco was delicious served on a crispy flour taco with jalapeño slaw, avocado, pico and cheese. The buffalo wings were tasty and flavorful and served with celery and ranch dressing. The pretzel bites and hamburger slider was delicious. The cheeseburger and cheese rounds were delicious.

Firehouse the sauce 3 parts BBQ buffalo sauce and cayenne pepper. Outstanding!

The burger was a showstopper. They have this homemaid blend of BBQ buffalo and Cayenne that really set the burger off. And the bacon was cooked perfectly. My chicken parmesan was also very good. Bristol down town is a very cool area, I'll be back here someday on my travels for sure. Great service, and food is even better. Perfect place to watch sports too!

I love their pulled pork sandwich, chicken plates and their food has always been fresh and just delicious. In 27 years of going there I have NEVER had a menu pick that wasn't very tasty or poor service. I was a high school music teacher and corporate pilot for 20 years and know what bad food and poor service really are! In addition to their great food I love their Thursday night karaoke. As a pilot who has traveled the world I always tried to find the best karaoke bars in wherever I was spending the night. I've been to karaoke bars from Oslo, Norway to Athens, Greece. Hundreds! Looking for the best karaoke bars in town that also serve food. And what I found and come to the conclusion was that State Line, in GOOD OLD BRISTOL TENNESSEE, has the best KARAOKE shows along with the BEST FOOD that could be found around the world. My apologies for this long missive. I'm retired now, my rabbits foot had no more hair on it, and have an armful of grand babies to entertain!

State line bar and grill is just a few doors down. This grill, it appears, to be in a converted warehouse space. It is likely the whole block was a warehouse which was sectioned into separate commercial properties. It has 20' ceilings with tin ceiling tiles and nice industrial wood flooring. They have live music and karaoke nights. They have a nice selection of food. Seafood, burgers, quesadillas, wings, salads, wraps ... I tried their mushroom Swiss burger which was huge, juicy and delicious. I needed to cut it in half to figure a way to attack it and a lot of napkins. A fun fact: it is the State line grill because it is in Bristol TN but you cross the street and you are in Bristol VA! If you are in the area, I highly recommend stopping in to try it out.

Bristol is a rural town but certain areas are becoming more chic, such as this rooftop bar. I ordered a brown sugar old fashioned to start with. It was AMAZING. I would definitely recreate it at home, the flavors balance perfectly. For my entree, I had the chicken sandwich. The batter was perfectly crispy and seasoned well. I like that they use chicken thighs, which are juicy and makes for a delicious sandwich. Fries were okay, I wish they weren't steak fries. +Our server was friendly! She recommended great menu items. +Limited parking +Outdoor seating with a beautiful overlook of the city. It's a really great way to try the food! Food (5/5): Elevated bar food! The kitchen from the downstairs restaurant, Vivian's Table, makes the food and it is really delicious. We tried the popcorn shrimp, which are breaded and crispy. Really great. We of course, had to try the Mountain of fries - these are matchstick fries and the best part was the three different sauces that come with it. The chipotle ketchup was my favorite. We also tried the wings, which were good..I am not a huge wing fan, though. The jalapeno poppers (wrapped in bacon with a cheese filing) were great, as were the steak nachos. And of course, the hummus with the fry bread was great, too. My hubby liked the hazy IPA that was on draft. Even better at $3.50 a pint during Happy Hour. I really liked the cocktails - some of my favorite was a new espresso based tequila (for the summer menu) and the creamsicle. Service (5/5): Everyone up here is super nice - the manager Landry, bartender Raine and all the servers were really fantastic. Ambiance (5/5): Location - This is the top of the Bristol Hotel, and one of the only rooftop bars in Bristol. From the top you have a lovely view of the famous Bristol sign, great when it lights up at night.

Title: First (and last) visit to Cascade Draft House - rude bartender ruined it…read moreWe walked into Cascade Draft House on a sunny Friday early evening--first time, just my husband and me, excited to try local beer. Another customer handed us a menu, but it took forever for the bartender to come over. When he did, we said it was our first visit and asked for help. He suggested a couple options, poured two samples for my husband. He walked off to help another ( no biggie) I didn't care for his sample choices. I took a minute to decide, I picked mine and when the bartender brought my samples, I thanked him, he snapped, "You need to hurry up and pick one." We were floored. My husband asked if me he really said that. When he came back we ordered two of the same beer. My husband approached him calmly about his rude comment. The guy shot back, "You've had like six samples already," (4) then added, "The more samples, the more dishes I have to wash." Like we're the problem for ordering in a brewery. He laughed and joked with regulars outside--chatting, pouring beers--but treated us like we were wasting his time. We he brought our beers my husband approached him again and he said " I'm not trying to be a dick". My husband said "oh it must be busy", the bartender replied yes it's busy and I can't do orders and run the cards all at once. This is a no brainer job, as I've done it before, it doesn't get easier unless you're paid to sleep. Place wasn't even busy: eight at the bar, a party of five out back, three tables came in after we ordered. The atmosphere was relaxed, smiling and joking. Not us. We ordered a total of three beers (the dishes!) I watched this guy waste more beer by pouring it, not paying attention to what he was doing. The four samples we had didn't even create 1/4 of a cup. A woman came over to cash us out she was warm, friendly. While we were there she kept glancing over like she knew something was off, she might've heard his rude comments. The beer was very good out of Kingsport Tn, but we won't go back. The Pinnacle area has Kickback Jacks and Monroe's that also have great beer specials. Not to mention the other places downtown that serve drinks. That bartender's lucky we stayed--only because we didn't want to cut our day short, my son was with us and was enjoying some time walking around downtown area. Zero tip, I feel bad if they have to split tips at the end of the night. One bartenders rude, uncalled for, unacceptable behavior ruined it for others. I'm in Bristol once a week, have my favorite coffee shop, shopping area, a place to go for a cold one is now still in the works. If you're new, skip this place. The beer might be good, but the attitude's poison.

We were told there was going to be a 15 min wait, but we're seated with five minutes. We got crab Rangoon, which was delicious. The portion was fairly small for the price. But, fortunately main courses followed soon after. I got the pad thai and it was really tasty. I chose tofu as the protein, and they went fairly light on the tofu. Also, I'm used to my pod Thai having a few more bells and whistles, like more greens, sprouts, and more than one lime wedge. But, it's on me for not requesting extras of those things. I ate all of my food. The portion was just right for a sit down meal and that worked well for me because as a tourist who was bopping around town, I did not want to have a to go box. Service was friendly and attentive. The place was pretty big and fairly loud, but the tables were spaced well between each other so we weren't impacted by the noise on either side. If you're trying to find a place that multiple people will agree on, this isn't a bad choice because they have a variety of different cuisines. Overall, I would definitely stop back at some point, though I might not seek it out as my top choice for a place to eat in the area.

The bartender told us that a local podcast offered to make them coasters and he said yes, but only if they make them as queer as possible. They were playing some alt music on a record. Also, locals were super friendly and engaged us tourists in convo. Lastly, there's a limited selection of games- so we played a little trivia game and had fun with it. Overall, I would definitely include this spot when bar hopping again. It is an easy walking distance of a lot of great stuff and it was easy enough to get to, even though it isn't on the main drag. My first choice was the Limonada Hard Italian Soda. This was absolutely delicious! The tartness from the lemons was noticeable but not over powering and this was a very drinkable beverage. I don't like seltzers at all, yes this wasn't a seltzer but it did have a bit of carbonation that I did not mind. The other customers inside were friendly but not awkward, especially for us being the only 2 women in there at the moment the bartender was super friendly and they had a nice selection of local brews from the area. My wife ordered a peanut butter and jelly beer from the Knoxville TN area as her 2nd drink. PB & J beer doesn't sound so appealing but OMG it was phenomenal. It was the perfect balance and tasted like a PB&J liquid sandwich. Honestly I can wait until I find some in the store nearby. This is a nice, no frills, friendly stop yo grab a drink in Bristol.
