I came to this café for a quick stop in my road trip, and I was impressed! I went in with low expectations, since I was looking for a quick refreshment, nothing fancy. I ordered a tropical smoothie, and it was smooth and fresh, and without even looking at the ingredients I could tell there was lots of fresh fruit and ingredients in there. The place is cozy and fancy while maintaining a welcoming environment. After having a great experience at the same café in Johnson City, TN some time ago, we decided to stop by the Abingdon location. While the prices were similarly high, the overall experience was quite different. The vibe and atmosphere didn't match what we remembered, and unfortunately the food quality fell short as well. My savory crepe tasted reheated rather than made to order, and the dressing was overly sweet. My husband's omelet, however, was excellent and did not disappoint. This is a pretty cool ice cream place because they make the ice cream right in front of you, then roll it up and put it into a cup. Quality ice cream, cool vibe, friendly staff. Recommended. And one more thing... I didn't realize the reason it was called Rendezvous until yesterday, and it's because it's the same owner as Greeko's across the parking lot. This cafe bills itself as international, and the people there were indeed not what I'd expected in Southwestern Virginia. Nor was the menu, which offers a variety of crepes as well as bubble teas and some other mostly dessert options. My selection of a strawberry crepe with a bit of crunchy granola and chocolate delivered on flavor and texture. A bit pricey for what it was, but satisfying. Plenty of other sweets there looked worth trying, but I didn't have room. I was a bit miffed to get disposable cutlery with salt and pepper, which seems wasteful. Great place to get a quick bite to eat in Abingdon. We only had twenty minutes to get a quick lunch so we stopped at Rendezvous for a quick bite. They have a good variety of items but we all got the chicken salad on a croissant. The sandwich the came with a bag of chips. Tea for each of us and it was ready in about 5 minutes! The food was excellent and all three of us were pleased with both the speed of service and quality of the of food. The cafe is neat and clean. This place is an absolute gem! As much as possible is made fresh and you can even watch some of the processes. They have the anti-griddle they use to make the rolled ice cream is front and center of the one case and the crêpe griddles are right next to them. They also have a cool machine that does orange juice from fresh oranges per order. The ladies that work and run the café provide far more than amazing service, they make your day with their kindness and care. Everything they do is thoughtful and well done. Cute local cafe with diverse menu, fresh (made from scratch?) pastry and better than average coffee. I say better than average because coffee was great first time we visited, second time not so "fresh", and third time, fresh, but too much cream. So I have to give it 4 instead of 5 stars for inconsistency. Also for a restaurant that prides itself on fresh farm to table ingredients, you would think actual fresh butter would be offered to put on your scone, muffin, bagel? Instead, they give you some kind of whipped vegetable spread--yuck. When I mentioned it to a staff member, they just shrugged. Oh well, Abingdon has lots of other choices, and I can just skip the $26 expenditure for breakfast at Rendezvous and have my buttered bagel at home next time. read more

Went here when they first opened and it was very good but had not had a chance to go back until today. My wife ordered a breakfast crepe with crisps and asked if they were potatoes. They were but just a bag of Lays potato chips. I had an omelet and it was not fluffy and it was over cooked. Bagel that came with it was store bought and served with vegetable oil spread and not real butter. I had free water and my wife had coffee which was good. $30 for that was crazy.
