Absolute joke of a practice. My husband and I have different insurances for eyecare. When I took him for his appointment over the summer, I had them check my insurance and they said they accept it. I made an appointment 3 weeks ago and only got called yesterday with someone asking for my insurance information. I was told they would double check that I'm good to go for my appointment and if I don't hear back, everything is good to go. I got a call just now (lesson than 3 hours before my appointment) stating that they don't take my insurance, but I can still come in and pay out of pocket. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

There is no help with selection of the frames, e.g., recommendation regarding size and fit. Once you pick up your glasses they are handed to you with no check to see if there is a proper fit and if they feel comfortable. Current staff indifferent and not friendly. read more

I visited today to place an order for contact lenses and select a new pair of glasses. Madeline greeted me, took my temperature and got to work. I explained that my prescription for contacts was still good and she contacted the Rockville Centre location where I had my initial exam, had my prescriptions for glasses and contacts faxed to her right away. She verified my DavisVision insurance and filled my prescription. She talked to me about what my insurance covers for the cost of glasses and helped me pick out a cute cat eye pair by Salsa. If you take your time some of the frames are marked down under $150. I placed my order and was out in under 1 hour. I also brought with me a pair I purchased a few months back from the other location that were too tight and uncomfortable. She adjusted them and they are much more comfortable now. Maddy, you are so great at customer service. A pleasure to have met you. I love visionworks. Affordable and I have no complaints with their Central Islip, Rockville Centre and now Plainview locations. The choice is clear and so is my vision. read more

The receptionist was helpful but the optician refused to sell me the glasses that my insurance covered and insisted on adding features to my lenses despite me knowing what i wanted and what my insurance covered. In the end he tried to insult me saying you cant afford it and i unfortunately walked out with a bad taste and no glasses. He was a very cheap salesman and disrespectful. read more

I honestly thought this location was fine. The doctor was was excellent and the service was pretty good. I mostly enjoyed the process of getting my glasses. I'd say that 2 things that bothered me was that the style of glasses was pretty limited, especially for the younger crowd, and that picking up the glasses was an unorganized process. Orlando, the optician who helped me, was friendly and treated me and my wife like old friends and was patient with me, even though I was asking a lot of questions. read more

Vision works scams people. My friend ordered new frames because her old ones broke. Vision works "claimed" they would order new frames, but they did not. They lied. Instead of giving us new frames they simply pieced it back together hoping we wouldn't noticed an though we expected new ones. Once we got home the glasses broke immediately in the same exact spot. Piss poor service. I can hear one guy in the back saying,"I can't do anything today, I don't even know why I'm here today." My thinking is, you're here to take care of customers like me who's here just to pick up the glasses I ordered. Instead he decides to continue on talking with his colleague with no mind to any of the customers. Didn't Even bother to ask what I needed. This place either needs new management or new owner. They at least need to teach the employees how to work. It is utterly inefficient for no good reason. They don't care about the customers at all. I try to tell the guy in the back that I've been waiting forever to do a pickup and he tells me "1 second" and proceeds to walk away and takes an additional 5+ minutes to come back out. I went in to receive a new frame since I paid for insurance and I was instead told to wait for over 15 minutes without any follow-up. I came to the Plainview Vision Works today. As I entered, I was greeted by friendly sales people. I needed a 2nd pair of glasses. Dr. Adler was very professional and friendly when giving me the exam. He made everything very simple. After my exam, I started looking for frames. When I got some, Lisa came over to helped me decide which frame was best for me. She didn't rush me and was very friendly. I can never go here again. The staff was incredibly rude and embarrassed me by shouting my temperature across the store and upsetting other customers. Mind you it was one of the hottest days and they knew the temperature reading wasn't accurate. However they didn't bother to defended me or tried to diffuse the situation when other customers got upset. The blonde lady who wasn't even a part of this problem comes over and starts to yell at me belittling me and embarrassing me further. I don't think they wanted to help me going forward. Absolutely horrible. Purchased glasses from them last year. They did not check the focus as if I were not the person you wear them. Couldn't wear the glasses from then on because focus was off. This year I brought in my own frames. Doctor didn't do a good check on prescription do my left lemme want correct and gave me a headache. When I returned them I listened to the doctor for fifteen minutes tell me I was wrong when I wasn't. He proceeded to mock me only to find out the focus was fine and he was nit diligent in updating my prescription. Said he had a headache and asked another doctor to deal with me. When the glasses were returned after correction, they had altered the frame shape to fit the lenses they had made so now the frames don't look like the way I brought them in. They had thrown out the original lenses as a reference and went forward using whatever method they chose. What the purpose if I wanted those frames in the first place. Update: There is no way to message them privately. Thank you for your "concerned" Customer service response but it's not helpful. Update 2: They promised to cancel the insurance claim for refund. I called in two weeks later and was told I had to do it myself. I just don't understand how it can be this poor. read more

Avoid this place at all costs. The front desk staff is rude and unorganized. They tell you on the phone that you're eligible for an exam/glasses. You get there and now you conveniently have to pay out of pocket because you're actually NOT eligible through insurance. The older male doctor that works here is absolutely disgusting and cannot keep his hands to himself. He was inappropriate with my young child, kept touching her hands and rubbing them during the exam. I asked him to please not do that. He then ushered me down the hallway with his hand touching my waist. After I pulled away, he did it a second time. This time, grabbing more firmly. I confronted the doctor and we ended up walking out. The women at the front desk should be ashamed of themselves. They offer horrible customer service, they have no idea what they are doing and when I asked for my child's prescription so I could order elsewhere since they messed up our appointment and could not accommodate us once we showed up, they said they wouldn't give it to me. This place is a scam. Do not waste your time or money. After all that, to add insult to injury, my child was seen elsewhere by a much more professional eye doctor, and we were told that the doctor at Visionworks had given the ENTIRELY WRONG PRESCRIPTION!!! I've used this location for the past few years. I would give 5 stars but the wait times even with appointments seem to run long. Staff are generally friendly and helpful. The manager, Lisa is always available to clarify and assist with any insurance questions I may have. Last year, when I ordered my prescription sunglasses there was a miscommunication in the level of tint that I wanted. Lisa made sure the error was corrected before I left the store knowing that I do not live nearby so I could avoid having to come back another day. I live near other Davis Visionworks, but choose to come here because the doctors and team are kind and will work with me until I am satisfied. read more

From making an appointment to getting my glasses and contacts, every single staff member takes the time to make sure my daughter and I are well taken care of. Dr. Russel is very kind and answers all my questions. The selection of glasses for adults and kids is great. Lisa, Madeline, Orlando, Sam and another female staff member (I didn't catch her name) are ALL amazing! Madeline took her time to go over my benefits on a certain pair of my daughter's glasses, even when the computer wasn't listening almost near closing AND right before the new year. Speaking with Lisa is always a cherry on top of the visit! There really was no rush for my daughters glasses needing to be done since she had an extra pair but they had all 3 glasses done on New Years Eve, even after I reassured it really wasn't necessary! Can't really go to a different eye store because THIS is the place where you want to stay because you're treated with care and respect. read more

The woman in the front of the store at the registers told another customer that his insurance was not accepted, the man said the name of that insurance and it was the same insurance as mine. She was rude and snobby to everyone there. I like the doctor and he is very helpful but most of the staff is pretty incompetent. Oh and heads up, if you wear contacts you get charged $80 for a "fitting fee" which no one will tell you until you're paying. read more

The worst experience I ever had in any eye care center. I ordered a pair glasses month ago. When I went to pick it up 2weeks after, my brand new glasses looked like I was wearing that for last 10 years. It was all scratched up and had dents. They agreed and told me that they will call me when they get a new frame. Another week goes by I went to pick up my glasses again. I did called them to make sure it was ready to be pick up and they said yes. Once I get there they told me it wasn't ready and they will call me when it's ready. Horrible. Went there to get my glasses refitted an they fit even worse now. They are so uncomfortable after being "adjusted". Thr man that adjusted the glasses didn't check to see how the arm of my glasses was rubbing my ear or see how his changes improved it or not. He just bent up my glasses and sent me on my way. I wasn't even offered a seat while the adjustments were being made. My glasses are so uncomfortable I cannot even stand to wear them. Don't go here find somewhere else where they will spend time with you as a customer, and treat you with some respect. To make it even worse I need to go to somewhere else to get my glasses adjusted to fit properly, because this place did not know what they were doing. read more

I should've taken the advice from the other reviews. Although the doctor was very nice and knowledgeable, the front staff leaves a lot to be desired. I picked up my new glasses today and was given a case to hold the glasses in. On my way out, I opened the case and realized it didn't have a cloth inside to wipe the lenses with. I asked for one and was told they ran out. The girl didn't even bother to look for one, and said just said they ran out as if she was annoyed that I even asked. read more

I agree with the other reviews that wait time here is sub-par. I was at this location a few weeks ago for a five-minute contact lens check-up that is scheduled only at 9:55, 10:55, 11:55, etc., because I was told it should only take five minutes. I arrived early for my appointment and ended up waiting more than forty minutes to be seen; due to the long wait I left feeling quite frustrated. But as a client who has come here frequently, I should have expected this wait time, as a half-hour wait is usually the minimum amount of time I spend waiting to be seen. The doctors are very nice and knowledgeable, and I'm sure the staff in general doesn't mean to make their clients wait for so long; the location is probably just very high-volume. However I always experience long waits when I come here, and for me personally that is enough to make me not want to come back. I guess I've kept returning simply because I know the drill at this location and it's easy to repeatedly return to a familiar setting. read more

This location is one of the most poorly run establishments I've ever been to in my 25 years of wearing glasses. I came to them in a pinch because my glasses were destroyed and was told I'd have a rush order and have them in 3 days. It's now been 14 days and only 1 pair of two I ordered came in. I was told by the manager Lisa that she doesn't control the lab and all she can do is email them. The glasses that came in were still too big after being adjusted and now I have to be refunded because I'm not wasting anymore time waiting. Lisa tried to make me give back the loaner pair and leave me with NO GLASSES after I asked for a refund on everything. Absolutely absurd. If your insurance is Davis Vision I suggest changing it because the employees down to the management do not value the customer interest. read more

Came in at 1130 for an eye exam. Doctor is great. Customer service is terrible. The loud mouth Lisa did nothing but talk and not help. After patiently waiting an hour I asked when I will be seen, they told me next so I picked out my glasses so I would be ready. Two more people went before me as I watched the entire store clear out as I sat very impatiently . 2 hours later I am still here and will be sure to never return read more

Wait time is ridiculous. Mr. Dorfman has horrible chair side manner. Gave me the incorrect prescription so I had to wait even longer. No apology. Frames are expensive WITH INSURANCE and have minimal style options. Definitely going to look into alternate coverage options with my insurance. Plainview Vision Works the worst ever!! Not worthy of any stars. Had an appointment for myself, husband and daughter. Was told when we got there that my insurance would not cover us until mid April for eye exams. When I called for appointment I asked, if we were eligible and was told that someone would call me if we were not. No one called me! They admitted to the error. If I could give 0 stars I would. I got a phone call to pick up my glasses. When I get there and try them on, I had an instant headache and couldn't see anything. I said this is the wrong prescription. The customer service rep apologized and said they made a mistake. I called several days later to ask if my glasses are ready and was told yes. You'd think they would have the courtesy to call after their mistake. I will NEVER go back. read more

The customer service at this location is awful. I've been going to that location for years when it was DavisVision. I never had a problem getting my glasses, contacts, or eye exam. However, now, it is just awful. Through my insurance I am able to get a new pair of glasses every year, and so when Jan 1st comes around I always make my yearly appointment. So on 1/2/16, I went in for my exam...picked out 2 pairs of glasses - 1 for my regular RX and a 2nd for sunglasses. When I sat down with the optician, I informed her of an issue I had with my pair of glasses from the previous year. And told me that they would fix them no problem because it was technically still less than a year. HOWEVER, I had gone to that exact location in October 2015 and asked to get my glasses RX double checked because I was having trouble seeing well with them. And a older gentleman helped me, who I later found out was their manager, and he told me that the stronger section of my RX was not in line with my pupil, and there was nothing they could do about it...I tried to get him to help me out...he slightly adjusted the arms of the glasses and pushed me out the door. So now, on 1/2/16, when the woman helping me with my glasses told me that they could fix them...I was furious. The man who helped me in October gave me incorrect information and was very smug. So now I'm waiting on both my new pair of glasses and my old pair to be fixed, and I've been wearing contacts everyday - irritating my already sensitive eyes. The only positive things I can say about this location is the doctors (who told me NOT to wear contacts every single day) and the woman who helped me get my glasses fixed (and for free because I had gotten them 1/5/15 and it was still under a year). That location USED to be great, but there is no communication at all. Last year when I picked up my glasses...they didn't even call me to tell me they were ready! They said "someone forgot"....I could keep going with how awful this place has become, and if it weren't for the eye doctors in that location...I would never go back! THE RANT. read more

If I could offer a ZERO score I would. I walked into the store and was greeted by their customer service rep behind the counter with a simple "Yes". She did not bother to look up and say hello or welcome me to the store. After seeing my reaction, she asked how I could help.. Fast forward to picking out a pair of glasses and sitting with another representative. She did not even acknowledge me, but started typing into the computer. Never once did she ask if I was happy with my selection or anything. Her first question was, "Would you like a receipt".. I stood up and walked out of the store.
