We were surprised how much food we got and glad I did not get something additional as I first thought I might need to. Greasiest brisket I ever had - definitely do not recommend brisket. The leftovers looked like suet the next day - 100% fat! Mac and cheese was good. Pulled pork, chicken and ribs were decent but Meadowbrook in Sterling and Slaters in Bolton are better by far. Probably won't go again, better options exist. read more

Such a fun, delicious lunch! The food is wonderful - we tried the burnt ends bowl, Mac and cheese, beignets and warm cookie sundae and everything was perfect. The service was friendly and quick, and the restaurant was very clean and well kept. After our meal we stopped by the animal barn, where we met adorable baby goats, baby cows and a llama. My wife and I had dinner tonight at Davis farmland barbecue. We have eaten there many times and every dining experience was a good one. Tonight was no exception except for the food particularly the burnt ends. Tonight the burnt ends arrived at our table cold. We sent them back. When they came back they were hot but they were just full of fat. Each piece was fatty. I spoke to Carmen the manager who could not have been more gracious. She could not have been more understanding and helpful. She went out of her way to make it up to us via dessert and a couple of Davis Bowls "to go" just for good measure. These things can happen in any restaurant. But what impressed us the most was the sincere, concerned manner in which Carmen related to her customer. We were expecting a typical BBQ restaurant - but this place is a like an amusement park. Tons and tons of kids with a petting zoo, rides etc. It just wasn't our scene. Got the 2 meat platter around 2 PM on a weekday. Beans were ok, with chunks of meat. Slaw was bland and chopped, not shredded. Probably pre-fab. Ribs were so-so. I saw some coming in from the smoker and they looked better than what I was served. Made me wonder if we got served yesterday's leftovers. There's $4 up-charge for ribs in a platter, which is too high, even with the current pricing issues. Especially for "meh" quality. Biggest complaint was the Brisket. It was SLICED WRONG, along the grain. It was pretty fatty, and not real flavorful. It could have been the best tasting brisket ever (which this was assuredly NOT), but if you slice it wrong, you've ruined it. Ruined it. Won't be returning too soon, if at all. read more

I was hoping so much for this to be great, but horribly disappointed with the brisket and wings which was my trial run. Brisket was not tender, but chewy. Very fatty and the fat was not rendered properly enough, so was inedible and did not render into the meat for juicy flavor which was not there. Very disappointed. The skin on the wings was soft and not cooked enough. They were not worl famous to be sure. Guess I still will be driving afar for my brisket. I've seen many of the other reviews given, including the rather negative reviews which quite honestly I don't understand. Right up front, I am in no way affiliated with or even know the people running or working at Davis BBQ. I and my wife have now been there at least 4 times since May of 2023 and our experiences there were outstanding, although there was one visit where they had run out of the burnt ends which was disappointing. I am somewhat suspicious about some of these one star posts claiming that the place is filthy and infested with flies, or that they charge too much...sounds like people who are affiliated with competitors trying to down talk the place, because the times I went there I never even remotely encountered conditions like what is being described, and really good BBQ places have always been somewhat pricey given the meats. You aren't going to get quality meats for free afterall. I've lived and/or travelled all over this country and moved here from Idaho and I know good BBQ so I personally found this place to be the best so far...even beating out the place in Worcester that keeps getting the top rate award. Davis BBQ is a bit out in the boonies relative to the main roads, but it's worth the trip if you have some extra money to spend on quality BBQ. Perhaps they just need to get some better signage pointing the way to where they are. read more

Very disappointed that at 4:00 they are out of Brisket, burnt ends and ribs. The staff and the service is A++. It is a bit over priced. When we got home and opened the bag one of the sides was missing. Not worth driving 20 minutes to make it right. I'm so happy I took the quick side trip to give Davis BBQ a try. Very impressed with the food, location and surroundings. Had Brisket, Burn't Ends and Pulled Pork. All 3 were excellent and IMHO a cut above my usual go to BBQ Jt's. The sides were awesome too. Walked in placed my order and was on my way in 10 minutes. I was super excited to see that you opened a BBQ restaurant. The new place looks amazing. We placed a pick-up order for a full rack of ribs and a 10 piece wings. The ribs were delicious - fall off the bone, the sauce was AMAZING. I was a bit disappointed at the price, $25.00 for basically 1/2 a takeout containers worth (ouch). Ribs came with a few pickles and 2 slices of Texas Toast - which would have been great, if it wasn't underneath the ribs and pickles (kind'of like a soggy pickle flavored sponge). The buffalo wings were cold and rubbery with 1 tiny stick of celery cut into 3 pieces, buried under the wings. (?) I will definitely go back - this place is in such a great spot and it the summer with the craft brews and some music it will be so nice to sit outside. I agree fully with the inconsistency here. Sometimes you get coleslaw free, other times you do not, sometime fits a condiment cup or a normal side size. No way to tell. Also sometimes sides are fine. And otherwise the onion rings are soggy, greasy and seasoned skins much they taste like greasy salt, when others crispy with not seasoning so I don't get the consistency here. read more

I am a not a barbecue snob despite the fact that I come from a region in Texas that is considered to be one of the best places on earth to eat smoked meats! Davis uses hickory wood and outside of mesquite wood it's probably my favorite! I've only tried the burnt ends/brisket because I love this cut and it's fatty goodness! Davis nails the simplicity of real barbecue smoked meat with the burnt ends/brisket! The sauces are a nice compliment to their food but at best they are subpar and I only say that because I'm biased to what I like but the meat doesn't need sauce and that's a true test in serving food barbecue!! The service was close to what we Texans expect - served with a smile and questions answered without a struggle or being dismissive like buy it or leave which is most of these other Texas inspired restaurants up north are like!! Ordered take-out several times. The food is decent for BBQ in New England. Unfortunately something is always missing from the order. Today we ordered 5 entrees that were supposed to include cole slaw - NONE of them had it. Last time it was onion straws. How tough is this really? I would also say the food quality has gone downhill steadily since it opened. Today the burnt ends and brisket were basically fat with a rare morsel of meat mixed in. I was a bit underwhelmed by my first visit to this restaurant. The brisket was well done but very fatty. The fries were hot but soggy definitely not impressed with the order taker as she appeared to be distracted. The coleslaw was fresh but tasteless. My partner was even less impressed by her food. We recently got takeout for a group of 4 adults. Not having ordered or eaten there before, I wasn't sure what their serving sizes were so I decided to over order-or so I thought! The portions are extremely small! For an example, an order of cornbread is 4-5 bite sized pieces! An order of onion straws comes in a cup sized paper bowl. A large order of coleslaw is the equivalent of about 1/2 cup. Each one of these sides was $4 - 6 each. Usually sides are for sharing but realistically if all 4 of us wanted coleslaw, I would have had to get a separate order for each for a total of $16 for coleslaw for 4 people. The same would go for the onion straws and cornbread which means 3 sides for 4 people would total at least $46! This doesn't make sense to me. Anyway, that being said, the food was good-just way overpriced. Unfortunately I won't be going back. read more

Was excited to try this place tonight. Very clean inside, covid separation in place, friendly staff throughout. Finishes inside and outside more representative of a high end restaurant. We ordered two "bowls", and a few sides as well as beignets for desert. Unfortunately this place needs more time to get the food right. Burnt ends were overly salty, but the accompanying beans were great. Smoked Turkey bowl was good, but the rice was undercooked. Cole slaw was a fresh take on the old recipe, and by far the biggest surprise was the $5 portion of Gouda Mac n cheese... less than a Dixie cup and not even full! Word of advice BBQ joints are known for giving plenty to their customers. Skimping on the sides shouldn't leave a bad memory. Lastly the beignets (Louisiana style doughnuts) were brown on the outside but raw on the inside. Some simple quality control in the production line would fix a lot of this, look forward to trying again. read more

So first off, it is RARE that I give 5 stars anymore on yelp. My friends have been telling my about Davis BBQ for a long time and I should go and try it. Now, I will tell you that I am a BBQ connoisseur. I've competed in BBQ contests run by KCBS and I take a lot of pride in making my own BBQ. This place is hands down the best I've had in New England. My favorite used to be Red Bones in Sommerville, but this place beats them. We dropped by on a Saturday night. My wife and I split the 3 meat combo platter. We got burnt ends, ribs and sliced brisket, with cole slaw, mac and cheese and fried corn bread. This was so good, we went back the next day for another 3 meat combo platter. Sunday night we got Burnt ends again, pulled chicken and ribs. The burnt ends are flawless. Like buttery sweet goodness. Like it was the heavens of BBQ when you opened that box. Ribs were perfect. The pulled chicken had a nice kick to it on the backend. Sliced brisket was perfectly sliced and pulled apart effortlessly. There's no sauce needed for this. Another thing that I loved about it. It wasn't drenched in sauce. You can add it yourself if you want. You can check out the smokers if you want as you walk by on the way in. It's a nice set up, for sure. Definitely can smell the hickory. As I was walking in I was able to get a good look at the smoke stack on the smoker. You know it's being done right when you see a very thin blue layer of smoker exiting the chimney. That tells you it's a good clean hot fire. Lastly don't let the price scare you. It's worth it. We visited for the first time today at lunch. The aroma permeating from the smokers outside was amazing. Upon entering we were greeted by a friendly young lady ( I forget her name) who was very patient with us because we just couldn't decide. One of the chefs came out to say hi and I realized the staff is genuinely nice. The dining room was semi-modern, pleasantly surprising which is so unusual for BBQ restaurants and spotless I might add. I ordered pulled pork, beans and fried cornbread because I just couldn't resist the thought of cornbread, fried. It was fun and yummy. I felt guilty but ate the little crispy squares anyway. The pulled pork was moist and flavorful. The beans were sweet and a little spicy-very interesting yet delicious. My partner ordered the ribs and he so unselfishly offered me some and I took a rib and immediately wished I had ordered them too. Meanwhile, almost all of the front end staff check on us including Carmen with whom we had an enjoyable chat. Made it feel like family! We didn't have room for dessert but got some cookies to take home for later. So glad we came, the visit was worth driving to. read more

I was excited to try Davis BBQ. A BBQ restaurant in my own backyard! I don't know why I hadn't heard of this place. Well, now I know. We ordered take-out from home. The food was ready when we arrived. Since it was nice and cool inside we decided to eat there rather than take it home. The ribs were pretty good, but that's about the best I can say. The baked beans tasted like a can of beans heated up in bbq sauce with a few burnt ends thrown in. The brisket was sliced too thin on a deli slicer and only 4 thin slices. In fact all the portions were small. The cucumber salad was sliced cukes with cherry tomatoes and balsamic dressing. The cole slaw was not bad, but was too salty. The onion strings truly suffered in a small styrofoam container. There's a difference between a creative take on a food item and taking shortcuts. Other than the meat was smoked there is no authentic bbq here. Oh, and don't let me forget, the "Texas Toast" was barely toasted and hardly buttered. I'm sure this place is fine to grab a burger after touring the farm, but it's doubtful we will go back just for the food. read more

Very nice place inside and love the animal barn. I ordered a full rack of ribs, 1 lb brisket, 1lb pulled pork, Side of Gouda Mac & cheese & side of Coleslaw. The brisket was awesome, very juicy, tender, and had great smoke flavor. The ribs were good but not great & the pulled pork was our least favorite (was a little dry). The Gouda Mac & cheese was great! But for a 5$ side it was a tiny portion! For the cole slaw we ordered a small side order $3. Think maybe they forgot to include this with our order. Instead there were three tiny ketchup size containers of coleslaw with each of the three meats. There was also a piece of garlic toast in each of the containers which we weren't expecting so that kinda made up for the missing coleslaw. The Davis family has knocked it out of the park once again! First they brought Farmland to Sterling and then the Mega Maze. Now they have brought BBQ to our small town. All of the meat and chicken is smoked to perfection and unlike other restaurants, they do not drench the food in BBQ sauce and give you a choice of 2 sauces to choose for yourself. Our lunch was the perfect portion (we were so full we passed on dinner that night) and it was nice to have so many side dishes to choose from. Make sure you leave room for dessert as the beignets are to die for (they are served warm with a side of chocolate dipping sauce). We are excited to see they have outdoor patio as we will be enjoying a cold beer and some tasty BBQ outside when the weather allows. Truly a hidden gem in Sterling! read more

If I could give this a negative 5, I would. My family and I are long time lovers of Farmland, I mean, 14 years of fun for my entire family. I was so thrilled to hear Davis BBQ was opening. Not knowing how busy this place would get on Valentine's Day, I called in my order at 3:30 for a 5:30 pick up. I ordered the Valentine's Special plus a childrens order. I drove 30 min to arrive for my 5:30 pick up. JD informed me that my order would be out shortly. After waiting 15 min, I called to ask if it would be easier for me to come in to collect my order and I was told yes. So much for curbside delivery. JD apologized and said that my order was given to someone else and they were remaking my order. At 6:20, I was finally on my way however, I decided to check my order. I was missing my childrens order. So, here I am, a partial order, 30 min from home and on Valentine's Day. Back to JD and this time, asked for a refund. Refund granted!!! At this point I assumed there would be some good gesture for this colossal disaster. NOPE. He let me walk out of there empty handed. As I was leaving, the girl who got her order after me was walking back inside because her order was not accurate. There was a gentleman standing in the parking lot that told me he was waiting 30 min for his order. I only hope and pray my order was not given to someone else because after it left the kitchen area, it should rightly be disposed of but that place was such a disaster, who knows what happened!
