Saturday afternoon, never been here before, just 3 tables are currently seated. Seems to be just 1 waitress, we waited a couple minutes to be seated. Table and restaurant appeared clean, waitress was wearing a mask, and kept her distance. We ordered omelets,, hash browns, toast, pancakes. The only thing truly edible was the pancakes. Omelets were dry, toast was unbuttered and cold., the potatoes were just sliced boiled potatoes warmed up, a couple edges were browned, but they were just dry, gross sliced potatoes. NOT hash browns by any stretch. They have a huge menu, but if they cant get a simple breakfast right, I certainly won't be back for a steak dinner. read more

My family and I love to come to David's and have breakfast for lunch. The food is wonderful and the service and staff are amazing!

Yesterday, my wife and I spent the day with 4 of our 8 grandchildren at the NC Zoo in Asheboro. We all were there until 5 pm and decided to go for dinner. We choose David's not knowing what to expect, both of us raised on diners up North, and couldn't have been more pleased. Service, food, and atmosphere made it great. Everybody got to order whatever they like whether it was chicken, steak, pasta, hot dogs, or pancakes. All of us loved every bit of it. Least I forgot, we were celebrating our youngest grandson's 4th birthday (not until Thursday for real). They whole day was a blast, but the food and service here topped off a perfect day. You can rest assured, we will return again next time we go to the Zoo. Don't miss out on this place, you won't regret the choice. read more

After reading many reviews, we chose to meet here for lunch- what a disappointment. Huge menu, so not sure what they are going for except doing everything mediocre. We went with brunch items: The omelettes were overcooked, dry, zero flavor-- maybe they made them yesterday or last week and heated them up with American cheese on top (what?); "hashbrowns" seemed to be somewhat cold in the middle with no discernible seasoning whatsoever. I tried to put some salt and pepper on them, but didn't help much. Pancakes were stiff, no taste- again reminded me of something warmed up. It took 30 minutes to get our drinks, then another 30 to get our food. Food was just ok, not great, not terrible. I have been here in the past and the quality has gone downhill quite a lot. I always order a monte cristo, and I couldn't stomach it today, it was so oily I could barely stomach half of it. My boyfriend and I were so pleasantly surprised by this little diner! We stopped for lunch on our way to a Getaway cabin with our two dogs. Everyone was so friendly and they were very accommodating of our dogs. We got a turkey club and chicken and cheese with french fries and both were delicious. They came with a cup of soup which was also great. The fries were hot, fresh, and crispy. And our bill ended up only being around $17!! Great food for a great price. They have a huuuge menu with your typical diner fare, but also things like BBQ and some Mexican food as well. They also have a drive through which is really cool. The portion of food they bring you is huge, and comes with all the fixings. In addition to the sizzling plate of grilled chicken, onions, green and red peppers he had an additional plate filled with: refried beans, rice, guacamole, lettuce, tomatoes, salsa, sour cream. Oh, and did I mentioned he entree came with his choice of the house-made soup of the day? The options were chicken noodle and cream of potato. He chose potato... OH MY GOSH... AMAZING. I actually ordered a cup of this to-go it was so yum. I ordered the feta cheese omelette with spinach and onions. Very happy with my decision. The cook was heavy handed with all the toppings. This came with a side of home fries, which were prepared a little different that I'd had before: almost flaked like you would find in an au gratin dish. Very good! In a town with few vegetarian options David's is a great option. The menu is huge and you would think with so much variety certain selections would be lacking. I have never found this to be the case. My personal favorite is "the hobo skilled". Their eggs are always impeccable and the potatoes delicious. On some occasions the potatoes have been more cooked than others. Not to say they weren't cooked but the potatoes on the bottom were not browned out all. The staff is always friendly and the owner offer comes around to check on tables. read more

The ranch salad dressing is great, soup is great, sweet tea is great, lasagna ehh... not so much, service and booths are decent and somewhat secluded. Service was bad beyond belief tonight. I ordered a salad and my dinner companion ordered baked pork chop with vegetables. I got the salad and a very tiny container of salad dressing. My companion was served a hamburger steak instead of the pork chop ordered. The iced tea had very little ice. I asked for extra ice and never got it. We had to asked for tea refills. The pork chops were paper thin and way over cooked. The quality of the food was below par. No reason to go back to David's. read more

One of the very few restaurants in this town we decided to eat at it this weekend because there were cars in the parking lot and we thought okay it can't be that bad. We sat across from another family that left 85% of their food on the table paid the check and left and we wondered why. Well first they forget our drinks and bring out our soup. And then the appetizer which was a little bizarre (fried pickles w/spaghetti sauce) and then our drinks, bad start right off the bat. And then they come back about 30 minutes later and tell us that our food order got deleted. So we pay the bill at our pickles and we get ready to leave and then she comes out and says our food order did not get deleted it's ready. We said okay I guess we'll go ahead and take it we didn't have anything else to eat but pickles with spaghetti sauce. Well the food came my hash brown potatoes were burnt so bad that they were hard as coal. My scrambled eggs had fake cheese on them and my pancakes were dry. My son's chicken sandwich had one chicken tender on it, It was pitiful. My husband had a sub roll with a tiny little bit of turkey on it and ended up leaving the roll because it was hard. Probably one of the worst places I've ever eaten. Food was horrible!! Absolutely do not waste your money. read more

Is this a 5 star restaurant? NO, but for the type of restaurant it is, this place is top notch. Ate here multiple times while in town on business and every meal was delicious, from soup to clubs to pita sandwich. No matter what order you throw at the kitchen from their huge and varied menu, they seem to deliver! Only drawback is watch yourself in the lot, as some "older clientele" have issues pulling into parking spaces,etc. Almost lost a door to a huge Crown Vic that kept on pulling into the adjacent parking spot, even though my door was open and I was about to get out. The place is lacking in decor and the staff isn't exactly bubbly but they get the job done. I got the fajitas which I will be eating for the next 3 days and my husband got a wrap. We followed Yelp's recommendations while driving through the area. At first, I was a bit concerned about the large menu, as a large selection often means mediocre food. We were pleasantly surprised. Our server made some recommendations and we followed her advice...although she added, "really everything is good." She surprised us by bringing out 2 small cups of today's soups so that we could taste them...very tasty and homemade. There were quite a few low calorie and healthier items on the menu, which was nice. I had the Popeye (spinach) salad with grilled chicken. It was huge...with plenty of real crispy bacon, boiled eggs, big slices of mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, and cucumbers. There was just the right amount of cheese and even homemade croutons and warm bacon dressing. My hubby ordered the chicken stir fry with rice. He said that it had high quality ingredients with a perfectly balanced sauce, not too sweet nor too spicy. Lots of nice fresh vegetables and plenty of chicken. Service was outstanding and quick. Our server went out of her way to be friendly and helpful. The restaurant and restrooms were clean and nicely decorated. Total price for all of this, including my husband's beer...$23.00!! Excellent! I had only gotten carryout from here once. This time we decided to dine in. We had an appetizer platter with fried pickles, mushrooms, zucchini and onion rings. Delicious!
