We came by the restaurant while staying at the Hampton Inn bc they had a free appetizer. But that was IT. We were sat, we were given menus and we browsed the selection. I told the waitress that I wanted a Voodoo ranger and she didn't ask for a pint or large, just took off and brought back a pint. Then we order a classic Caesar salad $5.69 add Salmon $4.30 and add shrimp $4.30 with the dressing on the side and no croutons. I had a Cuban sandwich and that was the order. When they brought the Caesar salad they said they were out of Parmesan cheese. So the salad was just Romaine lettuce and salad dressing, which wasn't that good. The bill came to nearly $50 and when I looked, they charged me $16.99 for a salmon Caesar salad that was nowhere on the menu and then add a $7.99 shrimp skewer that was listed under the steak menu. I asked the waitress what was she doing, and where did she come up with the prices that weren't on the menu. I asked for a manager and this was also a nightmare. I first asked her to show me on the menu where the Salmon Caesar salad was listed and why they also changed me $7.99 for shrimp when you specifically state it's$4.30? They also stated that we couldn't double up the add on's. There was NO statement on that and NO salmon Caesar Salad on the menu. The difference from what I ordered and what they changed was $10.00. The 20+ year old manager couldn't see the difference and first offered only a $4 discount and then agreed to another $4.50 discount which still doesn't get to the $10 difference. This place was a joke, and the waitress should have stated that what I pointed out on the menu was not what she had entered in. We will NEVER visit this place again, and it was my fault for not looking at the 2.5 stars read more

Stopped in on our way to South Carolina. Never been to a kickback jacks before. Reminds me of a Jeremiah's or Tully's etc from Rochester. Spinach and artichoke dip was delicious. Fair amount of choices on the menu. Service was friendly and she came back often to check on us. We were initially told our wait would be 30-35 minutes and our table was ready in 3 minutes. Used to live in Asheboro & I remember loving the grilled chicken wings with the sweet Thai chili sauce. So that's what I ordered. It's still number one in my book! Now, at first they got my order wrong. Instead of grilled they brought it out fried. Had to return them. Then, they brought it out with drumsticks instead of all flats like I had ordered (it's $3 extra). I didn't mind accepting them because I had to wait a while for the first and second batch and I didn't want to wait again. The waitress insisted on taking them back to make it right. I ended up with extra wings on the house! So that was super nice of her! Other than my wings, we had ordered the Philly cheesesteak eggrolls as our appetizer. Crispy outside texture with a good amount of ground beef oozing with cheese! It was fantastic. My fiancé thought it had a heavy onion taste to it, but I didn't seem to notice. He ordered the firehouse burger. It had fried jalapeños and pepper jack cheese. If you love spicy food, this is a great choice! It may not be as spicy as one would hope, but it has a good flavor. If someone had told me you're walking into NC's family friendly equivalent of Applebees, I probably would have kept walking. That being said, I had no idea what the food might be like at this restaurant next two the major hotels in Asheboro and gave it a try. As it was 7 p.m., I didn't want to make a big production for dinner. Post meal, however, I trudged back to my hotel knowing I could have done better. The steak was barely seasoned Select grade, wings were average, wine mediocre...even the loaded mashed potatoes lacked excitement. While this foodie may not jump at the chance to return, Kickback Jack's, it IS a hopping place for families! If your group is looking for a venue whose menu appeals to everyone, this is a great place to dine. Considering my husband wasn't even sat to be able to order food, I can't comment on the food. But waiting almost 30 min to be sat and still not acknowledged after the FOURTH family/couple had been sat is crazy. He originally declined sitting at the bar, and asked for a booth for comfort. After watching people being sat continuously after he came in, he didn't even bother and left. This was his first choice but being as it was one of two restaurants in walking distance of his hotel, he thought it would be better. Turns out the Zaxbys in asheboro has better service! The floors looked clean and the menu acted like it knew me, and I ended up ordering the burger. Girl at the front called me by the wrong name but we all make mistakes, I know I have. Came here by accident but SOOO glad we did. The parking lot was slammed but we were seated right away. The Firecracker shrimp was amazing!! You gotta try that!! We had the most amazing waitress. Stopped into grab a bite to eat after traveling all day. It was across the street from our hotel. They put us on a list and sent us text when our table was ready. They said about a 15 minute wait but it was more like 5 minutes. It has a sports bar atmosphere, lots of TVs and it was quite loud when the tables were full diners. Our waitress was pleasant. I've been to this restaurant before and have enjoyed my dinner but this time I was super pleased with my New Orleans Pasta dinner. It's was amazing! Lots of chicken, shrimp and andouille sausage with corkscrew pasta and the sauce was perfect on it! Not too spicy but flavorful. (For $13 it was a bargain). Plus enough left for lunch the next day. The whole group of five enjoyed their dinner, too. Chicken and broccoli pasta, seafood platter, chicken fingers and the tallest mushroom 'n Swiss burger I've ever seen. It was a stretch but he got his mouth around it! Our server was attentive and helpful. Monday night Wild Card game was on the tv but the sound was down so the room wasn't noisy. Visited again, this time with a group of colleagues. There were 8 people in our party during lunch but we didn't have to wait. Service was smooth. One of my colleagues wasn't a fan of the side she ordered (the Mexican corn off the cob--corn with some spices) but the manager took it off the bill. My drink tasted off, like the carbonation was running out, so I asked to switch and had no issues with that, the waitress was very accommodating. The lunch menu is great! And available on weekends as well, which isn't common everywhere. I got a half of a flatbread and a side salad. I order the ribeye - I think that was the thinnest steak I have every eaten. Flavor was good, but I like my beef at least 1 1/2" - this offering was just over 5/8". Potato side was good - beer selection limited, but I did find a good craft ale to enjoy. My friend and I drove up from Georgia for the Pottery festival in Seagrove this weekend. We stayed overnight in Asheboro. Kickback Jack's was right next door to the hotel. It was so great. However, we were never asked if we wanted refills the entire time we were there, it took a long time to come with the check, and we were never asked if we needed anything or wanted anything else before the check was brought. Walked into kickback jacks feeling jovial and left annoyed that they couldn't get the small stuff right. It was late on a Sunday so it was somewhat understandable that they were out of a few things. However the service was extremely poor. I chose the burger and asked for mustard instead of mayonnaise. For some reason the chef does not put it in the burger. I was told it would come in a ramekin. Fine, but it did not come out with my order. In pleasant small talk with the bartender, I explained I had been outside all day so I requested water in addition to my Guinness. 15 minutes later, I had to remind the bartender for water despite an empty bar. I would've asked earlier but she never checked on me. The manager seemed inept as well. I asked him to put on TNT and ESPN on one of the bank of six TVs. I indicated that I wanted to watch the NHL playoffs and the Phillies game, He came out with ruffled paperwork and managed to find TNT, but didn't find ESPn. Instead I got college softball on ESPN2. It's pretty bad when you have to pull out your phone in a "sports bar". Especially after giving him specific channels. Finally, there were at least 7 servers for the 8 people in the bar. Most just standing around and talking to each other, Again it WAs Sunday night, but that should not be an excuse to deliver passive service.. I find myself back in Asheboro NC Kickback Jacks is right next to the hotel making it the obvious choice. I've been here for a couple days and have been to kickbacks every day. (I have no imagination) the food is great and the service is as well. The bartenders know me and have a beer ready as soon as I sit down.I love the atmosphere here, always a lot going on, probably a little loud for some, but I like it loud. Pizza was really good and so were the fries. I had the chili and a mango jalapeño Margarita and it was divine. Not sweet but had a bit of a kick. Yummy. Our server was Kaitlyn and she was amazing. Sports bar in Asheboro on the US 64, in between a couple of hotels. Lots of TVs, and has a good number of tables. Pretty good crowd on a Sunday afternoon even outside of football season. Went there with a large group of people, and they set us up in the side room so we can all sit together. Menu is of that of typical sports bar: wings, sandwiches, burgers, but they even had pasta, pizza and steaks. Given our group size, I was expecting slow service, but they did a pretty good job getting everyone's orders and getting all the food out in reasonable time. I got the crab cake sandwich which was alright. I also tried the cheese fries which was pretty decent. Heading east with a destination of the Outer banks, I stopped in Asheboro N.C. for the night. Tired and hungry, I checked into the Holiday Inn, and luckily for me, there was this place almost right next door, Kickback Jacks. There were a lot of people there, which was good to see, post Covid. I thought that this must be a good spot considering all the folks hanging around outside. As it turned out, I was right. The food was real good, and the service exceptional, and here's why. Because the waiting list was quite lengthy, I opted to sit at the bar. No wait. I was immediately presented with a menu, and ordered a beer, a 23 ounce Dos XX. It arrived ice cold, and with a smile from the bar tender. I ordered a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich, and 5 minutes later I was burning my tongue munching away. Fast and tasty. Perfect. While sitting at the bar, I was entertained watching the poetry being performed by the two young ladies as they went about their work. Their teamwork was outstanding. There were easily 20 patrons sitting at the bar, with servers flowing up to get their orders filled for their tables. To me it seemed hectic, but for those two professionals, it was rhythmic controlled chaos. They did their job with class, and once again, with a smile. As a retired manager, from a world wide corporation, I saw deserving employees who should be recognized for their performance. Quick Tip: Go a step further than just leaving a tip for outstanding service. Ask for the manager and let them know how well your server did. That's the best way to return a smile. read more
