Alaskan fish, sweet potato, potato salad cornbread, missing banana pudding

Mr. Anthony said hello & hoped I enjoy my meal. Ms Leslie my waitress was very attentive and talk me into banana pudding. I bet I put on 5lbs! The place is clean and right at 109/47. I hope the picture does it justice.

Belgian waffle, pecan waffle, scrambled eggs, bacon

After a long rainy night in the Uwharie we were looking for a good breakfast on the way home and Rick's definitely delivered! I got two eggs, pecan waffle and a coffee, while my youngest got a Belgian waffle with Peaches and ended up getting their own plate of eggs after having some of mine! Service was friendly and fast and put some energy back in us for the trip home!

Hamburger and Chicken Patty Sandwich

Just about everyone I know has mentioned this place at one point or another, but I had never had the chance to eat here. Today I joined my family for lunch and was eager to see what the hype was about. Talk about crowded. It was pretty tough to find a place to park because the lot was slammed full, but even so there were a couple tables open so we didn't have to wait at all for a seat. I've heard a lot about how good the hamburgers were so naturally I got one - and it was....ok. Not bad, but not great. I feel like the party was a little dry, and I was told afterwards I should have gotten it with chili because that tends to make them more moist (I went with lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard, and onion). I was actually more impressed with the chicken patty sandwich I ordered. Once again it was nothing fantastic, but it resembled something you would get in the cafeteria in middle or high school - so I think the nostalgic feeling was actually kinda cool. Anyway this place was nothing over the top, just a small town restaurant that has decent food and friendly service. If you ever pass through the town of Denton it wouldn't hurt to stop by and give it a try.

Excellent food, awesome staff and great prices. They offer a wide variety of food and even have special items such as fish, steak and tacos, on different nights of the week. If you want a good, juicy burger, they have you covered!! If you are in the area, definitely worth stopping by!

This place has gone downhill over the past few years. The quality of the food and service has gone down, and the price has just gone up. I went in just days ago to support a local small business, and nobody (not even staff) was wearing a mask! I thought it was disappointing, so I immediately left. Why should I support a small business if they don't care about the well being of their customers and staff? Not to mention some of the nasty things I have heard about the owner.

Went for Friday steak night- everything in this restaurant is either deep, battered and fried, or it's overcooked. Will not return.

Baked potato wasn't done. Grilled flounder was overcooked. This was a really disappointing meal for us.

Sometimes in a smaller city you're not sure what to expect but I can guarantee you if you go here…read moreyou will love it. First of all the service was phenomenal My wife and I split like we normally do and they split it into equal portions on separate dishes and even did it for the salad. My mom had fish and chips and the fish was super juicy and extra crispy on the outside. And everything that everybody got was absolutely delicious. If you come here you have to get the appetizer onion rings they're the biggest onion rings I've ever seen.

The food truck/vendor festival downtown was absolutely packed and the lines were so crazy we decided we'd rather sit down in a restaurant instead. When we walked in, they cleaned off a table and had us seated right away. We ordered the crab pretzel for an appetizer because it sounded unique and interesting. It was so rich, almost difficult to eat, so we won't be doing that again. We ordered our food and I ordered a cocktail. We actually watched the drink sit on the bar, all the ice melting... for at least 20 minutes before it was brought to our table. It was a watered down version of what could have been good. Our food took over an hour to arrive. We walked in around 1:30, and didn't leave until 2:50. The food arrived at 2:40. We only left because I had somewhere to be at 3, not because we were finished eating... my husband's burger and fries were lukewarm at best, as were my fries. My sandwich was only hot because they had forgotten to make it along with my husband's food, and someone called out for them to make one real quick. Which explains why my husband's food was no longer warm, because we watched it sit there while they made my food. I had time to take a couple bites of my sandwich before we had to try and flag down our waitress for the check and to-go boxes because I no longer had time to eat before my event. This was so, so disappointing and we were really surprised that nothing was comped from our bill. Even a check in from the manager would have been nice, just to acknowledge that this was not the norm? If it had been my first time in, I would never be back.

It's one…read moreof those comfort foods I don't eat often because it's so rich--but when I see it on a menu, it absolutely catches my attention. That's exactly what drew me to The Southern Pecan in SouthPark. Here in the South, they call it country fried steak, and I'm happy to report this one did not disappoint. I met a colleague there for lunch, and everything about the experience felt easy from the start. The restaurant is located in Phillips Place, a lovely little shopping area that feels a bit polished and upscale--with shops like Orvis, Tory Burch, and even a Restoration Hardware restaurant nearby. They do offer valet parking, which is a nice touch, though honestly parking is easy enough on your own. We had reservations through OpenTable and were seated on the patio, which was absolutely delightful for this time of year in Charlotte. The weather was perfect, the setting was relaxed, and the service started off warm and welcoming right away. Now, the food. The country fried steak was beautifully cooked--crispy on the outside, tender inside, and served with creamy mashed potatoes and gravy that hit all the nostalgic notes from my Texas upbringing. I paired it with a vegetable side (I believe it was broccoli or corn), and it was a classic Southern plate done right. We also enjoyed a couple of cocktails, and to finish, we split a praline bread pudding, which felt like the perfect Southern ending to the meal--sweet, comforting, and indulgent without being overwhelming. The staff was friendly and attentive, and one of the things I continue to appreciate about Charlotte is how easy it is to connect with people. We even chatted with diners at nearby tables, which added to that welcoming, community feel that makes dining out here so enjoyable--especially for someone coming from the Bay Area. Prices felt fair for the quality, the setting, and the portion sizes, and overall the experience left a great impression. Bottom line: If you're craving a solid Southern classic like country fried steak--or just want a relaxed patio lunch in a charming part of SouthPark--The Southern Pecan is definitely worth a visit. And as someone happily eating my way through Charlotte and the Southeast, this stop was another reminder that the journey has been a delicious one.

I've heard rave reviews about this place so Michelle & I went for Sunday Brunch…read more They recommended a reservation so we had one @ 12n. It was already quite busy when we arrived and it's not clear where your parking options are. People are pulling up to the entrance and dropping people off so it gets jammed up and chaotic, of course people are running late so those BIG Yukons and Suburbans are making it a challenge to navigate a small entrance area. You would THINK they would at least have a Valet option of Sat/Sun during Brunch. To park, go BEHIND the restaurant on the street to the left and you'll see some free parking options that are close and walkable. We asked for a table on the patio and were immediately seated. The bar was already buzzing with solo diners enjoying their Mimosas. The patio is NOT that big, a little over crowded and table are very close with not much space in between. There was a LARGE group of 'FUN' ladies right beside us enjoying their MIMOSAS, dropping the 'F' bomb from time to time and making a LOT of noise. What can you do? Nothing but try to make the best of it and just start talking LOUDER like everyone else. The OVERHEAD heaters were way too intense so the Staff was very responsive at our request to turn down the heat. We shared the BBQ Shrimp Starter which was SO good, I highly recommend. I had the Gumbo and Michelle had the beet and goat cheese salad. We both had the Red Fish which comes with smashed potatoes and broccoli. The potatoes were so BLAND, the broccoli had NO seasoning. The Red Fish wasn't that great of a flavor and not very tender, not easy to cut, had to use my knife at times to get a bite. Kinda disappointed, I lived in N Orleans for a couple of years and it was always so good there. The biggest disappointment was the Gumbo. It had all the right ingredients but the ROUX was to strong, dark and heavy. It actually gave me indigestion afterwards. The service was OUTSTANDING. Our Server was Daylean, she was so nice and helpful with the menu and kept our refills coming.

North Italia - NORTH ITALIA - CHARLOTTE

South End, Dilworth

Review for North Italia…read more has absolutely become one of my staples in Charlotte.** It's located in the heart of South End--a trendy, energetic neighborhood with beautiful outdoor dining--and one of the biggest perks here is easy parking, which, as any Charlotte diner knows, is always a win. Inside, the restaurant is gorgeous. Think large, comfortable booths, warm lighting, fresh flowers, and a lively but polished atmosphere. I always make a reservation through OpenTable--I'm too old to be waiting around to eat, and I might as well rack up some points and perks while I'm at it. One of the things I appreciate most about North Italia is their seasonal menu. It keeps the experience fresh and thoughtful, and you can tell the kitchen is paying attention to ingredients and timing. I usually start with a glass of wine-- a sparkling rosé or a crisp Sauvignon Blanc--something cold, clean, and refreshing. Bubbles are always a good option for me. They serve a delicious focaccia at the table, which I sometimes indulge in, but the dish that truly stands out--the one I still dream about--was a seasonal ravioli with butternut squash and crispy sage. It was beautifully balanced, comforting, and memorable in the best way. Other favorites: * The Caesar salad--perfectly dressed * The arancini and calamari--always solid starters * The pizzas, especially the cacio e pepe * And yes, the desserts are absolutely worth saving room for Brunch here is also a lovely experience. Sitting on the patio, eating alfresco on a sunny Sunday, reminds me so much of what I loved about California--being outdoors, enjoying great food, and taking your time. Thankfully, there's plenty of shade, so it's comfortable even on warm days. They do offer a happy hour. It's not the most extensive in town, but it's perfectly fine for drinks, a pizza, or a charcuterie board with friends after work. What keeps me coming back: * Consistently good service * Clean, beautiful space * Thoughtful seasonal dishes * Easy parking * Reliable quality Yes, it's a bit upscale--but it's approachable, welcoming, and dependable. And when a chef takes the time to create seasonal dishes that appeal to diners with curious palates, that deserves recognition. Bottom line: A polished, reliable favorite in South End that delivers great food, beautiful ambiance, and a consistently enjoyable dining experience.

Anthony is my fav bartender but everyone does an amazing job. I love the on the menu jalapeno strawberry margarita, but like this night pictured if I want something else he will make it for me ! And he's never made me a bad drink ! (This wasn't my first rodeo here ). On to the food. This wasn't my first time having the collard sausage dip and I could eat it with my hands it was so delicious freshly made and creamy ! This is hands down the best dip I've ever had and to top it off the fried pita !! My only complaint is there aren't enough pitas to dip ratio but I will order more next time. And I found the dip greatly paired with the catfish. ( no judgement) The catfish is something I've had before but I didn't have the pleasure of the waffles the last time and let me tell you ! This is a work of art. I want to personally meet whoever made this idea of layered fish , greens and waffles but it was heavenly. And I wanted to eat it all but my stomach just wouldn't allow it. I did however heat the leftover the following morning for breakfast and they were still perfect. Last but not least the Mac and cheese was creamy, noodles were perfectly cooked and it was seasoned to a T. I'm picky on Mac and cheese being my favorite food and they do it justice. See you all next weekend!

The dip is always so delicious - it's one of my favorite appetizers ever. The pita is really good too. I think they recently started adding cheese to it too which is good but not really necessary in my opinion. At first, they brought us pita that was really burnt but our waiter told us she requested a fresh batch without us even saying anything which I think is great service. I also tried their garlic parm boneless wings & they were so good. I loved how seasoned & salty they were, although they might be too salty for some people. I really loved it though! Their cocktail menu is also really interesting & creative. It's mostly whiskey of course but they do have other spirits. I tried the peanut butter & jelly Old fashioned and it was surprisingly delicious. It really did taste like a PB&J so I highly recommend. The inside is small but there's a nice outdoor seating area too. This really is one of my favorite places to get food in the area BUT the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because anytime I've been there remotely close to closing, they definitely let you know & make you feel rushed. I'm not one to go to restaurants last minute when they're closing because I know how that can make it difficult for employees, but being somewhere 45 minutes before they close shouldn't warrant getting rushed. I've been there before just to have a few cocktails at the bar about 45 min before closing & had the same experience. I still really love this place & will keep going (but probably not within an hour or so of closing lol)
