I was a little skeptical coming here, as I have not heard good things about the chain in general. But let me say I was pleasantly surprised. We were shopping for bridesmaid dresses but they bridal gowns looked really pretty. And they have a Vera Wang line with some very pretty dresses. We did have to wait about 15 minutes for an sales person to start working with us, but we did walk in without an appointment on a Saturday. Sarah is the person who helped us and she was great. She was very busy but always took time and answered our questions and was very friendly. I was also surprised by the quality of the dresses. Savannah and Danielle did an exceptional job as our stylist and went above and beyond to get all 5 bridesmaids the dress of their dreams. I LOVED Kristina and Lindsay. They were SO helpful and honset. I felt like me picking the right dress was really important to them too. Kristina was so helpful and patient. Kristina helped with my bridesmaids and flower girls a different day and she was just as helpful and great. I only gave 4 stars because I wish there were more dress options. I'm a very odd chick; I'm simple, easy to please, and I hate shopping. That being said, David's was the first and only place I went to try on wedding dresses. I planned on buying my dress on my first trip, as I'm not one to go to multiple places to try and find "THE ONE." Ladies, let's be real here: you wear the dress for one day, and let's be honest, your future daughter (if you decide to have children) will most likely NOT want to wear your dress for her big day. I know I wouldn't have (no offense, mom). I booked my appointment two weeks ago, added three dresses to my "favorites" that they could print out and find for me when I arrived, and then waited for my day to arrive. Finally, it was the day. I battled construction traffic but made it with time to spare. I arrived about 15 minutes prior to my set appointment time, and was greeted immediately and "checked in." I was given a goody bag, several bridal magazines, and other tidbits. I sat down at my designated dressing room and waited for my mother, step mother, future MIL, and my sister/matron of honor to show up. My consultant was Nelly, who was friendly and fun to work with. She found two of my three choices immediately but informed me that the third was on clearance and only available in a size 16. That definitely wasn't going to work. I told her I was open to trying on a few others that she happened to find. The first dress I tried on was my initial first pick. I loved, loved, loved it! I did try on about 3 or 4 others, but I didn't like them as much. My group all agreed with the first dress as well. When I had said "yes to the dress", I was given a bell to ring and make a wish... which was kind of weird, but it was kind of fun, too. We ended up taking a group photo; one serious and one "sassy" one, which included all of us wearing tiaras, veils, and posed with our hands on our hips. It was a fun way to end the appointment. This place is ideal for ladies with a limited budget, like myself. I'm pleased to say that I bought my dress (strapless, sweetheart charmeuse trumpet style in soft white), accent sash, slip, bracelet, and a necklace and earrings set all for about $510. Yeah, that's a cheap date! I haven't decided whether I'm going to do a veil or headpiece yet, but there's time to figure that out. I mainly didn't want to buy a veil for $200. Yes, you heard me- I had no idea that's the going rate for veils these days. I could make my own for wayyyyy less (and I probably will, too). Some of the jewelry/accessories are expensive as others have said, but my pieces were all reasonable. I highly recommend David'd Bridal if you're on a limited budget, or aren't hellbent on buying a dress that costs thousands. Also, if possible, book your appointment for a weekday. I ended up finding my wedding dress, but the experience is not what I'd call a great one. I'm not one to expect perfect customer service, but a sales person who actually offers to help get you changed, can manage a smile once in a while, and tells you the truth about their credit card policy instead of just trying to sell a subscription would be good. Luckily their managers at least try to remedy the problems where you can prove you're right, but if you can't prove that you were misled with irrefutable proof, you probably won't get much help. It seems like the staff of this store are incapable of communicating between each other. I've had numerous phone calls saying "Come pick up your dress" before it was even in stock, after I had already been called the previous day and told them I would pick it up, and even after I had gotten it. The sales woman lied to me about many things, mainly that I would need to lose 80 pounds to go down two sizes. I'm sorry, but from a bridal 20 to a 16 is maaaaybe 50 pounds, being generous, so now with 6 months until my wedding my dress is a full size too big for me and I'm still losing weight. This is going to be tricky. Overall the store was great with size and style ranges, but the staff is way too focused on making the sale and not at all on customer service. I'd recommend going here if you're looking for a budget dress (shop the sales!), but if you're looking for a good customer service experience, don't expect much from this place. read more

Do not waste your time getting your dress at this store.... (Just this one, the others I have dealt with have been fantastic) I am an out of tower, but my family lives in IL so I thought it would be a good idea to visit this David's Bridal so my family could experience the dress shopping with me. The shopping was fine, except according to my store the dress they ordered me is two sizes too big. When I went to my store they had my trying on one size and the one in IL had me trying on 2 sizes bigger than that! That was my first hint that things weren't right with the Aurora store.. K, I got an email on Oct 2nd that they had received my dress (when I was in the store they told me since I ordered it there they would have it sent to my house in AZ when they got it) No big deal, except just over a week later I hadn't gotten any more info on it. Decided to call my store and see if I could get tracking info through them Nope I couldn't, why? Because the Aurora store STILL had my dress sitting in their store. My store in AZ made a note to have my dress over nighted since they held it at their store for over a week. So I called them the next day and asked if they got the note and if my dress would be sent out. The girl said, no it's still there and she didn't know what to tell me because she wasn't sure it would get sent out. Im not on a time crunch so whatever, I didn't get too heated... but that answer really struck a nerve. She decided to grab a manager and have her help me. The manager got on the phone got my info and said look Im sorry the dress will be sent out that day (Sat) and I should have it by Monday. I waited and now today, Tuesday... called again to get tracking info so I knew where it was. Once again, no tracking info because my dress was STILL sitting in their store... Now I was mad. Called the store and this time they had no excuse as to why it wasn't sent out.... but said they would get me the tracking info as soon as they could. Sure enough two minutes after that phone call, UPS sent me an email with my tracking info, and I will have my dress by tomorrow. I will be calling the district manager and putting this review on any and every website I can... I don't thin anyone should have to deal with this crap. What if I WAS in a pinch with time? What if I needed the dress by the date they originally told me? No bride should EVER have to deal with this... read more

Amazing experience here! After buying a dress that I didn't love at the Orland store, I called them and they informed me I couldn't cancel my order until my dress was physically in the store. Then I was told to come look around for a new one and if I found the one I could note it in my profile and when my first dress came in I could COME BACK again and reorder the new dress. I decided to try the Aurora store and I'm so happy I did. Within minutes, the manager had my previous order cancelled and Karen had my dresses in a room for me. She gave me all the undergarments for the dresses (I wasn't offered these in orland) and she was just amazing! I ended up picking a dress about $300 less than my first so I spent some time getting other accessories for myself and my daughter. Had a not so great experience here. Took my sister in law to look for her dream dress. The sales rep was not interested in helping at all. She didn't offer a slip or other accessories at all. There was not any large mirrors to look or a pedestal to stand on to see the bottom laid out. The sales rep didn't fluff the train for any dress at all. The lighting was dark and unflattering. I really feel like they need to change their name from David's bridal, to David's bridesmaids. There were hardly a lot of samples to try on, they even said they keep asking for more fit and flare styles, but the manager won't get them in. Just not a really great experience. Going to make it really hard to go back for bridesmaids dresses, if we even go back at all. She didn't feel like a bride at all, treated as just another person. This is the most special and exciting day of your life and you should be treated like so. I'm actually glad this happened though. Cause then we wouldn't have gone to the next place, treated like a queen, and found the perfect dress!! read more

I only went to DB to get a bridesmaid dress for a relative's wedding. I would NEVER return to this location for my own wedding, nor would I force anyone in my wedding party to come here. On a busy Saturday (bad idea), I head in to have alterations done on my dress. When my fiancé & I pull into the parking lot, a girl in another car spots us & speeds ahead of us to take the last parking spot. That's fine, he drops me off & I head inside to wait in line while he parks the car. While I'm waiting in line, I notice the same girl come in after me & get in line behind me. Shortly afterward, my fiancé joins me in line. When it's finally my turn to check in, the girl attempts to shove her way in front of me. My fiancé (a very sweet, timid guy) holds his arm out to block her & politely tells her that it's our turn because we were there first. She rudely replies "No you weren't, I parked first and saw you come in after me." He points out that he dropped me off to wait & that he was just joining me in line. Then for whatever reason, the girl gets in his face with unnecessary attitude, yelling at him about how she gets to go first, & actually raises a fist like she's going to punch him. The front desk girl jumps up to push them apart & I pull my fiancé back. I figure, if it's THAT important to her, we'll just let her ahead of us. The girl makes a smug face & makes her way up to the desk. No other involvement from the employee, no store manager involvement. Needless to say, my desire to ever shop here for my own wedding dropped to zero if that's the kind of customer behavior they allow in their store. As for my alterations, it ended up costing $60 to alter a $120 dress - all because they didn't make the dress in my size. They carry a size 26 in this dress, but not a size 0? WTH?? This is a pretty standard size to carry. But whatever. I give them the date of the wedding (which they already have on file because the bride bought her dress there) and I'm told the dress won't be ready until 2 weeks before the wedding, but they'll call me when it's ready. This was in early March. At 2 weeks before the wedding (which is the first weekend in June), I haven't heard anything from them. I give them some more time but 5 days before the wedding, I finally give in & call. They tell me "Oh, your dress has been ready since March!" Way to not tell me! I know they have my correct contact info on file because they called me when my shoes came in a month earlier. When I go to pick up the dress, they look at my receipt & say "We don't have any dresses under your name." I tell them that's impossible, that I called an hour earlier & was told that my dress was sitting & waiting for me. So I wait around for 30 minutes while they search for my dress. Finally I head back & ask the seamstress for the dress myself, & voila! She pulls it out right away. I will never return to this Wal-Mart of wedding stores, nor would I send even my worst enemy there. read more

Sorry to hear that other brides did not have a great experience here. While I wouldn't rank it based on the same criteria as a boutique bridal shop, I found this David's Bridal location to be just what I needed. I made an appointment a couple days ahead of time and while it was definitely a busy Sunday afternoon to be there, my consultant Eileen was able to help me right away and she gave me a lot of individual attention. Eileen gave us direction on where to browse for dresses in my price range (I greatly appreciated that there was no pressure to bump my spending limit up) and I found the selection to be good. Granted no one really likes to parade out of a mirror-less dressing stall into a veritable hall of mirrors full of strangers while wearing a dress that is sized too small and will not zipper up the back thus exposing your bra. But, I have to imagine that this is exactly the experience of 95% of brides. So you laugh and deal with it. And for being a bride on a fairly small budget I feel that I got a great deal on a well made dress with nice detailing and fun design elements. Word to the wise: The one disappointment with David's was picking up my dress and finding it jammed into a garment bag causing many tiny wrinkles in the fabric. BUT I found out the David's will steam your gown free of charge either after they do your alterations OR anytime before you ceremony if you did not have any alterations done to the gown. Take advantage of this! Thankfully my dress had not been tailored and I was able to rush return it to a David's closer to home the week before the wedding for a good steaming (although that location in Niles did charge me $25 rush steaming fee...but considering the circumstances that seemed to be a very small price to pay) read more

Went shopping here for a bridesmaid dress for a friends wedding, but I only chose this location because it was closer for my friend (one of the other bridesmaids) who just had a baby. There were the typical pushy salespeople ("don't you want a bigger size?" ) but we successfully picked out our dresses, paid, and was told they would arrive in approximately 3 months. Less than two weeks later, I received an e-mail that my dress had arrived at the store but that they could not "hold it" for more than 14 days. First, how can you "not hold" something that I already paid for? Second, because the store is so far away, I called to see if I could pick it up at a store closer to my home. I wasn't planning on making another trip out there until April, and my local friend out there was going to be out of town. The manager's response was "We don't do that because things get lost." What a glowing recommendation to give your own company. In the end, I had to pay $15 to have this dress shipped to me directly. Places like this take advantage of brides and bridal parties that don't have the money to shop at a high-end boutique by first coercing people to buy larger sizes, and then stacking them with alteration and delivery fees. At the end of the day, it's probably worth it to go to a high-end boutique and at least get great service for your money! read more

Went for bridesmaids dresses and was a little frustrated with their process. I can't imagine what sort of chaos it would've been if I hadn't pre-shopped and picked out the dresses I wanted. Our coordinator had all five of the girls try on at once to check for size in all sorts of colors and had dresses rotating through. It was very disorganized and all I wanted was them to try on two dresses. Then pick the size. It really put a damper on the day. I was avoiding going to Davids from the beginning but finally chose it because I have so many girls out of state. They really only offer convenience. Service, not so much. Very disappointed with the way my daughter was treated! My daughter went in For a fitting months ago for a 8/30 wedding! She is pregnant and told that to the Salesperson! She is normally a size 0, but was told they don't carry 0's and should order a size 6 to account For the pregnancy, ( size 2 plus 2 sizes bigger recommended by David's), I have no idea how they determine what an expectant mother should order, but if they make a recommendation and a women doesn't gain excessive weight , they should be accountable! They also claimed that they accommodate expectant mothers and would work with her! Now , 2 weeks before they wedding (only gained 16 lbs with 6 weeks left to due date) the dress doesn't fit ! David's will not take any responsibility in this and charged her an additional $200+ for a new dress along with a rush charge! No doubt they will charge her alterations again as well! They are the experts and know better than anyone how their dresses fit! Had my daughter gained 30 -35 lbs, not uncommon then I would agree my daughter has more responsibility! The customer service from the manager (or interim supervisor -Erin) was very unprofessional. I bought a dress in September and I paid $750 for the dress on sale, the dress is now $599. I called last week and spoke with a manager about the return policies and price adjustment. I was told all sales are final and price adjustments can only be done within 7 days. My issue is this- the dress is new with tags, unaltered, and unworn, can I at least get some sort of store credit. But because I bought it early as suggested, the exact same dress is now $150 cheaper, and there is absolutely nothing I can do about it. While I was in the store tonight giving more of my money to David's Bridal, I decided to revisit the issue. So my salesperson, Kendra (who was very pleasant and patient) pretty much restated what the previous manager told me. So she asked did I want to speak with a manager and I said ok. So the manager had already left for the night and they referred me to this Erin lady. I guess she had listened to the conversation between me and Kendra. She SCREAMED from half way across the store,"she (referring to the real store manager) already told her nothing can be done." How rude is that? First of all, how do you know who I am? Secondly, how do you know what I discussed with someone else? Was there conversation about me after the phone call ended? Would it have killed her to come speak to me about my issue? I have spent a lot of my hard earned money here and expect better customer service. I bought my dress here, my bridesmaids dresses here, my flower girl dresses here and have an alteration appointment here. I was also still shopping for shoes, undergarments, a veil and random accessories but I think I will take my business elsewhere for these things, since my little bit of money is obviously not appreciated in this establishment!! read more

I bought my dress at David's yesterday and I was pretty happy with the experience. The only negative thing I have to say is that it is extremely crowded on weekends, which is naturally when most people are able to go, and your consultant usually has more than one appointment so that one-on-one time is limited. However, Megan was extremely attentive (To the degree she was allowed as she had another appointment), and very, very helpful with finding something that flattered me. Three stars for the experience of finding my bridal gown. However, today broke my heart and sent me into a whirl wind of panic. My wedding is in three weeks, so I had my alterations appointment today to try on my newly altered dress. The alter. Manager walked up to me and told me she was shaking...they didnt touch my dress. They forgot about it. My dress has been there over a month and it never was worked on. They told me it could be done in 24 hrs, so now i fear my dress will be a half ass alteration. I dont know however else to say it. Davids Bridal has completely taken the bridal gown excitement of the biggest day of my life and thrown it in the trash can. Had my first bridal appointment yesterday -- Woke up feeling like it was Christmas. I've had great experiences with my friend at a David's in Anaheim, CA -- and a decent experience with my sister at this very store. But my appointment was a *mess*. I arrived at the store and couldn't even check in due to the crowd for quite some time. Once checked in, I began looking through the dresses, only to be told by my consultant that she'd bring me dresses, I couldn't pull the ones I found. She advised my girls that they couldn't pick, either. This has been part of the fun in the past -- At David's in Anaheim, I picked my friend's dress. I originally had all 5 of my girls scheduled to come, but only two were able to make it. Despite this, they didn't have anywhere for my girls to sit for quite some time, and they had to stand back behind two crowds of other people viewing other girls. There were two men in the crowd to my left, and my consultant kept opening the door with me topless right in their line of view -- the dressing rooms were tiny, so there was no where for me to go. I kept telling her I needed things to slow down and had a different experience in mind, actually being able to chat with my girls and see the dresses from afar -- not right up against the mirror due to the crowding. I could have had the most gorgeous dress in the world on, and would't have known it due to being so rushed and distracted. Eventually, my consultant seemed to calm down and chat a bit more with me. My girls at least got chairs. But this, overall, I feel that this is not what a girl's dress buying experience should be. Been waiting for that day my whole life, and I'm looking forward to trying another place. My consultant mentioned that Saturdays are always like this, and for a better experience to try weeknights -- A tip for anyone considering dresses here. Nelly was so patient and kind with me when I came in today. I called ahead and said I wanted to try on dresses without a consultant because of the incredibly pushy sales people at the David's Bridal in Orland Park and when I came in, Nelly gave me the right amount of space yet stepped in to help when I needed it. I really appreciated her more hands off approach. She eased her way into helping me and wasn't overbearing. Eventually I showed her my wish list and she pulled a tea length dress (one I had not even considered) that I fell in love with. I am so relieved because I bought another dress from the Orland Park location and they are letting me exchange it and get a different dress and have a store credit so my bridesmaids can get their dresses. What a huge relief. I couldn't be happier and I am so thankful that Nelly was here to help and even more happy that I don't have drive so far back to Orland Park and deal with their pushy sales people. This location is amazing and sales people are simply awesome. Also, my dress is my dream dress and is very affordable!!! Only $399  This store is highly recommended! Oh, also, we got our bridesmaids dresses here in ice blue (lace ones) and they are soooo pretty. My one bridesmaid was able to order extra length in her dress too, yay! All is good about this place! Dresses are very reasonable, great prices, but pushy salespeople. I walked in there looking for a dress and came out with a dress, a slip, a petticoat, and a veil and WAY over my budget. Why? because the pushy sales lady would get off my back and made me feel so guilty about saying no. she even brought over her manager who said I MUST get all that crap. On top of that, she convinced my mom that I needed all of these, so it was 2 again 1 and I lost. I was almost in tears walking out of there and the lady didn't even care. I'm happy with the dress I bought, but am scared for my life to go back for alterations. read more

My wife orders a bridesmaid dress from this location a while back. We geta call around noon today (Wednesday) telling us the dress is in and we need to pick it up within the next 2 days or they will send it back. My wife advises them she will try but she has work the next two days and might have to get this weekend. A few hours later we get a voice mail saying if we don't pick it up within 2 days they are going to start charging us. I will never do business with this store ever again. I can understand not holding onto an order forever, but 48 hours in the middle of the work week is extreme and poor customer service. read more

Came here after a terrible experience with House of Brides next door. I didn't have an appointment and they treated me no different. They were very kind and understanding. They were busy but told me to take a look around and that I would be helped when one of the ladies was free. I worked with Kristina. She was AMAZING. She was so friendly. The conversations weren't weird or forced at all, she felt like a friend! The wedding is still some time away but I will definitely be back and will only work with Kristina. Was less than impressed while shopping with my bridesmaids for dresses. I researched styles before our appointment, to learn that the styles listed "online and in store" where unavailable at this location. I understand needing to run a business but for being required to make an appointment, they clearly over booked themselves at the expense of the customer. I brought 3 of my bridesmaids and they were required to share 1 room and 1 chair. I intended on purchasing their dresses, my shoes, headpiece and other accessories but left with just dresses due to being rushed out the door with little to no "thanks". I came here after visiting Catherine Simms on the other side of New York/59, so the selection was definitely a lot better but I was definitely missing the spacious dressing rooms. It was very frustrating not to even have a single mirror in that cramped dressing room. They offer a discount on accessories that you purchase at the time of the dress, and it definitely feels like more rushed, high pressure sales thing (especially compared to the very laid back ladies over at CS). But still, the consultant I worked with there gave honest opinions and seemed to want me to get the dress that looked the best and I was happiest in, regardless of price tags. The shipping time was incredibly fast, the dress showed up in under 3 weeks (!), well under the estimated arrival time. My only annoyance is that they do notify via e-mail when the dress comes in so I gave my email address that I never give out and specified not to share with 3rd parties, and now even weeks later, I am still getting new emails from their various partners. Ok, the first time I went to this David's Bridal was when I was picking up a bridesmaid dress I ordered for my friend's wedding last year. Now I'm engaged, and planning a wedding is crazy enough, so I just decided to do what seemed easiest when it came to picking out a wedding dress... David's Bridal has a super helpful website (because it has tons of photos and actually lists prices so you don't fall in love with something ridiculously out of your budget or anything) and a huge variety of dresses. They have some pretty affordable dresses, and honestly that was pretty important to me because there was no way I was going to spend a lot on a dress I'm going to wear once. I know everyone says that, but seriously. For those reasons, and since I already knew what the store was like from buying the bridesmaid dress there, I just felt like it was a good place to start, so I called and made my appointment. Luckily, it ended up being the only place I had to go! My mom and sister came with me and I tried on some dresses (some that I had picked out online and some that the awesome guy working there suggested) and we all ended up really liking one of them so I just decided to buy it. Todd who works there is really great btw. He was extremely knowledgeable, totally made us feel relaxed and welcome, and did a great job of giving us information and answering questions! The other people working all seemed really nice too. I didn't know if buying a wedding dress could be that easy but I was sooo happy it was! I still have to wait for it to come in and then go do the fittings and alterations and stuff, but so far I'm pretty happy with my experience here, so 5 stars! read more

I am a brides maid in my friend wedding and I am shopping for my own wedding gown. My friend decided to have us pick dresses from david's bridal and it was great. They have a ton of maids dresses. we all found the perfect dress for each of our differant body shapes. The best part I will be able to wear it again! Just last week I went with one of my brides maid to try on wedding dresses and we had a blast!! I wish I could remember the girls name but she was super fun!! She almost couldn't find a dress on the rack that she thought I would love so she was going to take it off the manquine she found the dress and I loved it!! Might be the one but I really want too look at other shops before I make my final choice. Also during both trips I never felt rushed. I felt like I could have tried every dress in the store if I wanted to :-D read more
