Went in to look at dresses for myself and my daughter. When I told them I didn't want big and extravagant, I was shown to a small section of dresses and told here you go. The random girl who took me to the section of dresses tried to tell me that the section of juniors bridesmaids dresses would fit my 8 year old and that it was all they had that would fit her. After I looked briefly another girl approached me and took me to the correct section of dresses that would work for my daughter. We did find a dress for her. I tried several on for myself and didn't find anything. The frustrating part was that while she checked on me ever so often, she didn't bother to help me pick anything out or offer advice. I didn't even know what size dress I wore. Point is, this place needs to better train their staff to make every customer feel wanted and welcomed. Not abandon them. read more

I found my dress!! The associate who helped me (Anna Birdstrup) was very helpful and efficient. I have certain modesty standards and I had a really tight budget. Like, 500 dollars tight. I was not expecting to be able to find what I needed in the price range I expected. I was so pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful dress in a great time frame; she helped us not only find a modest dress but it was 100 under budget. I was so shocked! I definitely would recommend this store to a friend and to anyone looking. read more

Went to look at bridesmaid dresses on a Saturday afternoon. Had appointment at 2 and didn't even get a consultant until about 2:30. We had already pulled a few dresses from their dismal selection, but couldn't find the ones I was interested in. I asked the consultant and she told me they were online only. She didn't offer any other suggestions. So the consultant, Amber, took us to a dressing room and completely took off, leaving us in the dust and didn't even bother asking me anything about the wedding, my fiance or myself. Once at the dressing rooms, we were left alone for about 15 minutes. The only time Amber came back was after we had tried on everything. She asked if we found anything we liked and I responded with a very short "no." Again, she didn't offer any suggestions BUT JUST LEFT! I was so mad at this point we left without a word. read more

I wish I would have read the reviews before coming here. I have been to this store before, to buy a formal gown for a charity event. I'd come in during the day when there were plenty of helpful sales associates who were more than willing to help me. And I had a good experience. Coming in on a Saturday like today was a HUGE mistake! We were loaded into the fitting rooms like cattle. The brides-to-be are stacked in and there were so many dresses on the rack outside my door, we couldn't open/close it. Our sales lady kept running off and my Mother In Law (to be) was left hanging the dresses, helping me in & out of them & shopping for me. She was basically doing the sales associate's job. When I walked in there and told him my budget was around $300, the lady assigned to me for my appointment I made two weeks earlier. Just looked at me and said "go look over there yourself "and she turned around and helped other people. She helped other girls getting their prom dresses and another wedding party, if it wasn't for my sister-in-law, I would've been standing there all alone with no one to help me. But the lady sure made sure to ring me up when I wanted to buy the dress that I had to pick out and try on for myself. It was just like that moment in the Movie "Pretty Woman". When Julia Roberts walks into the boutique stores on rodeo drive, and all of the ladies look her up and down in total discussed and tell her "there's nothing here that would fit you. I have more to say now that I have read more reviews. I can't believe they won't even let me exchange a dress for another dress that will fit and when I am willing to pay more if the price has increased. This is just crazy business practice. Nordstrom here I come! I bought a flower girl dress for my granddaughter to wear at my niece's wedding that was supposed to happen the day after their graduation from the Air Force Academy in 2020. Yes they both are serving in the US Air Force. The wedding was postponed when graduation was moved up and she and her fiancé were sent to their duty stations in Texas right away. They are finally able to schedule their wedding for July 2022. I called to see if I could exchange the unworn dress that has its tags on it for a larger size. I was told dresses may cost more so I stated I would pay the difference. I was told the COVID exchanges are phasing out. There were several other reasons given with no solution provided. When I came here to look for my wedding dress prior to coming I set up an appointment so they would be expecting me and I would get the right amount of attention it takes to help a bride find what she's looking for. That was the complete opposite of what I got. My family and I were given a corner changing room the lady who was supposed to accompany me was elsewhere helping another family, I got zero attention I went out on the floor to find dresses which was a somewhat difficult task to do because I had no idea where to start or what I was even looking for! . I also Got no help on how to assemble a dress. I felt irrelevant and unimportant almost as if they felt I wasn't seriously going to buy a dress like I was just trying on for fun? We had a terrible experience with David's Bridal in Overland Park, Kansas. My daughter ordered a bridesmaid dress from this store. When she picked it up, she had to wait an hour for them to grab it from the backroom for her. She asked to try the dress on and make sure of the fit because she had to get a size 0 that was not in stock at the time of the order. They would not allow her to try the dress on. I had an appointment at 3:30 in the afternoon on a Monday. The store was empty and I was really glad for that. However, from the moment I stepped inside I felt awkward. The girl at the desk couldn't find my profile where I'd saved my favorites. She called a sales associate to the desk and asked her right in front of me, "can you take a bride?" It was as if they weren't expecting me at all. Like I said, it was empty in the place, so why was I being made to feel like I was a bother? Throughout the appointment the associate was pleasant enough, but put forth zero effort. I was brought dresses that were far too big or small, I couldn't get an idea at all of what they might look like in my size. I was left in the dressing room in my underwear for minutes at a time. For the second time I have been utterly disappointed with this store. I love David's bridal, but this has to be the worst one. I HAD to come to this location because they were the only one to carry the Melissa Sweet dress I was after; my bridal experience left me in tears. The associate lacked some serious personal skills. She kept telling me I was a size six, not a size 4, even though the dresses zipped in a 2! At one point she even shoved her arm down the back of the dress I had on to show me I needed more room. She would have me try on a gown and then disappear (we were her only bridal party) when she would come back with a dress she completely put away they dress I had on before putting me in the next, wasting tons of time. She didn't want to give me a skirt to try on dresses and I had to ask for veils and accessories (but she kept running off). When I was torn about making a decision she told me I had to make one that day as my dress was going to take NINE months to come in. (I ordered it and it took 6 weeks). On top of all that she spent the whole appointment bashing the Kansas City north David's bridal, of which I had an amazing experience the day before. I was so disappointed. Once my dress came in I decided I was done doing business there and wanted to take my dress back to the kc north store to have it altered. Sadly, I had to wait AN HOUR in the front of the store before someone could bring me my dress. And now I need to do business with them again and I'm still disappointed. Their computer system says they have a bridesmaids dress I need so I called before making the drive...30 MINUTES on hold the sales rep finally picked back up, she went right to the rack and said "no we don't have it"...I asked if she could see if someone had/was trying it on and she said she was too busy, I'd have to call back later. In my personal opinion, if someone is going to spend hundreds and thousands of dollars at your store, they should be treated with a little more respect and kindness. I get being busy, every bride wants their moment and needs time and attention and I don't mind waiting, but when it's my time, I want to be treated like I matter. If David's bridal is your only option for a dress ladies, make the trip to the North Kansas City store. EVERY single one of their associates makes you feel important and valued. read more

I went with low expectations in large part due to having read these reviews. Having said that I think that they overbook their consultants. My consultant, Selene, was attempting to help two of us at the start of my session. She pulled it off very well with help from the assistant manager. She was very helpful and knowledgeable. She looked at the dresses I had picked, but were not quite right, and from there was able to find me a beautiful dress that I did purchase. I had a friend who is a seamstress with me who checked seams, fabric and cut and it was a good quality dress with an excellent price for the work. Selene never made me feel rushed, pressured or anything less than a beautiful bride. I had a fantastic experience with her and would recommend her to anyone looking to buy a dress. read more

Unfortunately I need to update my review with super upsetting info! Originally I was wowed and grateful how great the experience at the Lenexa location was but when I stopped in to the Independence location they told me that the bridesmaids dresses we had ordered at Lenexa weeks ago never actually got ordered! We were told that payment didn't need to be made at the time and that we could wait until the dresses actually came in which was not true! Then we found out that my sisters bridesmaid dress wouldn't be in in time for the wedding so she had to order a size up in order for her to get a dress in time. Now the dresses are coming in later and a lot closer to the wedding date than originally expected. Lucky Michaella at the Independence store was able to get everything situated for us. I am a mature bride on her second wedding, and was super nervous this would be a traumatic experience. Could not have been happier with my experience here! They got me in for a same-day appointment and my consultant, Michelle, was a true professional. She looked at pics of styles I liked and pulled a few dresses within my budget. Dress number 4 was the winner! She helped accessorize with various veils and clips, all incredibly reasonable. Best of all... she did a little make-a-wish, ring-a-bell "ceremony" when we decided on The One. Very sweet and had us all in tears. David's is great for a bride on a budget. read more

She did a great job organizing the dresses, bringing their sizes, being able to be flexible with our selections. We were in and out in less than an hour. Myrna (I'm not sure if that's how you spell it) was FANTASTIC! Both my best friend and I are getting married within the next year, and she helped both of us last weekend. She let us pull and try on a couple of our own picks and then asked questions about what we did or didn't like about each dress- and then she grabbed HER pick and had us try on. She's a rockstar- both dresses she picked were AMAZING and we instantly fell in love with them! I wish I could give a zero star review. This place is so unprofessional and rude. I had the displeasure of speaking to the manager Angela. She was very rude and not understanding what so ever. My brothers wedding was canceled, I was trying to return a dress, something I know for a fact that you can do if the wedding is canceled. Yet this manager very rudely would not see my point of view and tried to give me store credit for LESS than what I paid for the dress. Still refused to give me store credit for the amount I paid for the dress and had the worst attitude with the whole process. I understand that exchanges and returns aren't good for your store but that does not mean you treat the customer like shit through out the process. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The entire experience here start to finish was absolutely horrible. The first appointment I had was with a sales woman who hardly paid attention. I ended up purchasing a dress that day that my friend helped find instead of the associate. Then, I made an appointment for a month later to do a fitting at 3pm. I arranged my entire schedule at work for the time off and got a call the day prior to the appointment to confirm the time. During the phone call they told me my appointment was at 11. Despite asking numerous times for them to confirm I was told it was at 11. I re-arranged my entire work schedule to be there. Upon showing up at 11 (the store is an hour from my house) I was told my appointment was at 3 and there was nothing they could do until 3. I ended up missing an entire day of work because of this. I finally got through the fitting and when I showed up to pick up the dress over a month later it didn't fit. It was loose through the waist and looked completely bulky and funny shaped. I was panicked and the woman told me there was nothing else they could do and it was just the dress. I paid OVER $700 in alterations and it DIDN'T FIT. I took the dress with me to a woman who does alterations in LA near where I am getting married. She told me the entire thing had been botched, seams not opened, fabric not taken in correctly, everything. I am now having the dress fixed there (for less than 1/3 of the price) and when I called David's bridal to ask for my money back for 700 in alterations that THEY messed up, I was told I would need to bring the dress all the way back and let them try again, less than 3 weeks from my wedding. I have been waiting for a call back from them for a week now and NO ONE has reached out. I could not be more furious at this place. DO NOT go here. read more

Just had one of the worst customer service experiences of my life at this store. I was in town visiting from California, and had the opportunity to go dress shopping with my family. I noticed the negative Yelp reviews, but my sister got her dress from this store in 2014 and had no problems. I made an appointment for 4:30 on Sunday Jan 14th - we arrived on time, and it was 10-15 mins after the start of my appointment before my stylist finally got to us. Multiple gals that arrived after me were helped ahead of me. Finally, when our stylist did take us back, it became apparent she had two brides besides me to help as well, and it was clear that I was at the very bottom of the list. I was stuck in a side stall instead of on the stage and she only popped in occasionally to help. I think I tried on 4-5 dresses before the gal looked pointedly at her watch and said "well, it's 6 o'clock!" And made it clear that she was done with us. Despite the fact that we started late AND she hardly spent any time with us. This was my first time ever trying on wedding dresses and what should've been a fun bridal experience with my mom and sister turned into a disappointing mess. This whole store is clearly mismanaged or something and I'm not sure I'll bother to go back to a David's Bridal. Definitely won't be recommending this store to anyone! read more

Wish I could leave no stars. In this time of pandemic, when nothing is as it would normally be, you would think a concession could be made for return policies. I purchased a gown to wear to my son's wedding ceremony/reception in March. Obviously that didn't occur. While we waited and waited and waited for a time when the date could be rescheduled to accommodate a large gathering, their 14 day return policy passed. (Oh but she was quick to tell me that THEY have been reopened for several weeks that I could have returned it then because they extended the policy for a bit- never mind we were still waiting to find out if we could even have a wedding) Here we are in July- still no guidelines for large gatherings, no need for a formal dress. Called to ask if I could return an extremely resell-able dress in brand new condition with tags still affixed, and in the plastic cover it came in. No dice- you can exchange it for something of equal or greater value. Yeah- don't need a gown now, but there's a good chance I MIGHT need one of equal or greater value. More big business that really doesn't give a rip about their customers. Won't be returning to this store in the event I ever do need another formal gown. read more

I found my dress here, beautiful, form fitting, but not the train that I wanted. I told the woman helping me from the first minute that I couldn't have a train, she said OK, let me find a dress in your price range without a long train. In the end all the dresses that I tried on had long trains. The woman wasn't very helpful besides price point. I can't be the only woman who will only spend a certain amount of time in a dress with a decent price point. I am absolutely in love with my dress, and its perfect. I probably won't spend any more time in there due to customer service. The woman also basically abandoned me after she gave me 2 dresses. This establishment truly made bridesmaids dress shopping horrible, first walking in the door the lady up front says "do you even have an appointment" and as we tell her yes we do she says well you aren't supposed to be here for another hour, we called 3 times to make sure they had moved the appointment up so we were at the correct time they just fucked up 3 times with changing it. Through the entire time we were there not a single person offered help so when we found a dress we liked I went to find someone to help us order the dress they again asked if we had an appointment and searched to make sure we did and the 5 people standing around refused to help us because they were not the ones to create our appointment. I walked in to get a dress which I ended up buying and loving by a wonderful woman named Dottie. But I also was told I was not allowed to try on wedding gowns because the Manager told me I was too young looking to be married and "would not be getting married anytime soon" so I give this location a one star because the managers attitude towards me was god awful. A terrible and stressful experience. Our "consultant" didn't explain size availability well. There were two sizes to try on in store, yet she asked in front of everyone what size we were. Im not sure, but I'm quite certain you could just measure and be precise without question. She kept informing us that our dress was special occasion, not bridesmaid. We need that information ONCE, it was extremely irrelevant after the 10th time. That information should have been presented at the first appointment before bringing in bridesmaids. I believe that's why (or should be why) they have brides favorite their dresses pre-appoint, for preparedness. All we really wanted to know was the inventory and she "couldn't" give us that. She said they only had a few dresses for that style and they needed to be ordered immediately because a set number wasn't visible. Which was false, thanks to the other girl on the computer informing us of the exact quantity of our sizes available at their warehouse. Also, being told time and time again that this was a "special occasion" dress, our group realized that it's probably one that doesn't get ordered 5 at a time so it's highly unlikely that 5-10 dresses of the SAME sizes (all of our bridesmaids are between two sizes) would be ordered like hot cakes within 12 hours like they claimed. Also, when the first bridesmaid went to checkout we had to inform them of the discount offered online, something they didn't offer until we spoke up. I might add they were going to have a size 2 bridesmaid order a 6 because "it wasn't available in her size." Well it WAS online and I think a dress that fits should be their priority over an in store sale. In the end I will say it... worked out. but I don't recommend this location. No bride should feel the need to apologize to her bridal party for an experience that should be exciting and no one should be scared into a purchase. read more

So you find a Wedding dress, you order the dress, the dress comes in. All good! They call and leave a message that you need to pick up within the next 7 days - fair enough. You go to pick up your dress, and upon inspecting the dress, all is as expected. You go to take your dream dress home, and ask for a protector bag... That'll be $12. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!? When you spend the kind a money a Bride will spend on a dress she will wear one day, the LEAST David's can do is send said dream dress home well protected, and not in a dry cleaner bag. Came in here last late afternoon on a Sunday - and they were busy, as I had expected. It took about 8 minutes or so for a sales associate to be with me, but after that I found them very helpful. The bride did not care what dress we got, I was just told "a short dress in one of these colors" (probably the most relaxed bride ever). I was trying to make sure I got a color that would match what the other girls got halfway across the country in a David's Bridal there. They pulled up the brides phone number and had the colors and dresses each of the other girls got, which helped a lot. They were going around and helping me find different styles that they felt would fit the theme well, checking in to see how long certain colors would take to get in, etc. They did have to run off every once and a while to help another client, but I took that time to surf through dresses and find some I liked. We're overall very friendly and pretty helpful. I'm not a bride, but as a bridesmaid it was a pretty painless process. read more

Honestly. Where do I begin? I made an appointment with them for my bridesmaids and the appointment was terrible. When I first walked into the door, I waited at the front desk for about 7-9 minutes before anyone actually talked to me while the staff who worked there ignored me and my party, complaining to each other about people coming into the store while they were "so busy". When we finally got acknowledged, we were shown to a corner of dressing rooms and promptly forgot about. The staff acted annoyed because we had children, children who were well behaved I must say considering they were under 4 months old and one 4 year old. I don't know if the lady that we got was new or something but she didn't help out at all with anything that me or my party had asked. She didn't stay to help and when we would ask for a dress in a different size, she was gone for about 15+ minutes and never returned with the dress. While my party and I were there she was helping others, which I understand because there was limited staff but our party was for the majority was ignored for different parties. They were unhelpful, non listening, and rude. If I were you, I'd save my time and go somewhere else. 0/5 DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

I decided to look at wedding dresses here even after a bad experience as a bridesmaid for a previous wedding. I went in the middle of the week. There was only one other person looking. The host told me it would only be a few minutes. Waited an hour to have the worst service. The girl didn't speak to me. She took the dresses to the room that I picked out, left me in there to put on dresses without help. My best friend who had just gotten out of hospital the week before had to help me do everything including get the right sizes. I wanted to leave but unfortunately found the perfect dress and couldn't walk away from it! I bought it. When I went to pick up my dress today. It was the same experience with different people! I apparently was a huge inconvenience to everyone in the store! There is ZERO personality there! Working in customer service has been my job for 17 years! They had not prepared for us despite clearly arranging to have dresses ready to try. The "consultant" was clearly not knowledgeable and seemed completely overwhelmed. Despite interest in at least two wedding gowns as well as others in our group who were interested in bridesmaids dresses, we decided that there was no way we were going to give them any business. If they were this lackluster in getting our business, we knew that the services we would need after the sale would not be forthcoming.
