At first it seemed strange to me that a boutique would be inside a tanning salon but for Electric Sun, it works! The inventory is constantly revolving and the jewelry and clothes are adorable! I went to this tanning salon because the tanning salon I used to go to right up the street closed. So I found this one that was a little bit of a further drive but had a good reviews. I went here her because I was getting ready to go to Mexico and needed to be tan and not pasty white. The staff was very friendly and explained the packages that would best suit my needs as I only needed a small amount to build my tan up. The price was perfect for what I got and I even purchased tanning lotion. The beds were state of the art new beds. And I even got to choose from level 3 or 4 beds! The salon is super cute because it has a boutique and they carry some really cute clothing. I even bought two jumpsuits from there. Pretty good beds at this place and it's convenient for Lenexans but that's all I can say for this tanning salon. I've never been to the Gardner or Shawnee locations but from what I gather on their facebook page and from my own experience, their "specials" are not so special. One thing they neglect to tell the customer is, even if there are several "freebies" online, you can't use them all. In fact, you only get ONE being a customer, ever. Half the time, they aren't even aware of the "specials" put online. Either they need a better way of communicating to their employees or a copy writer for their coupons who will put things clearly. I tried Electric Sun Tanning about three years ago and ended up walking out of the place without even tanning. I thought perhaps with the new location, they may have changed some things in order to afford the new place. I was wrong. In my opinion, this business wouldn't last long if it had a close competitor in the Lenexa area who run things right...Hint, Hint entrepreneurs. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE!! Their prices are much more fair than all the others I've been to. On Tuesdays and Thursdays they do $12 spray tans which I do regularly and their packages are really fair prices. Plus they have a little boutique in there which I've bought jewelry and sunglasses from. Once I had a bad lotion that I didn't realize had a yucky chemical in it and a man I believe to be the salon owner gave me a free lotion and tossed my old bottle. This place is truly Amazing... I have been to many Tanning places over my years. So I have seen the good and the bad. I just want to share that this facility has all the best beds or Top of the line beds. The rooms and the beds are impeccably well kept and clean. The Staff is super friendly. The lobby is nice and they have a lot of options for tanning product and merchandise. They have it all and it's in a perfect package. I definitely recommend this tanning salon. This is an excellent tanning salon that keeps the focus on the things you need as someone who frequents this type of business: - Keeping the equipment current and the lamps changed frequently enough (read: hot enough) - Keeping the salon and bathrooms clean. We've all been to places that didn't stay on top of this and, when you're taking your clothes off in a place, it's important! (: - Lastly, customer service!! You won't find any too good, too busy, just plain too rude girls behind the counter at Electric Sun. I don't need to list the salons whose staff are guilty of that. I still drive across town for my spray tan (have you tried the Pura?!) bc it's awesome and bc of the unparalleled customer service. So why only 4 stars? I've been going to this tanning salon since 2008. I came in because I was getting ready to go on a cruise and wanted to get my skin used to the sun so I wouldn't fry on the boat. Howard the guy that owns the place was there when I first came in. He was so polite in explaining everything to me. I go on vacation once to twice a year and like to tan before I go and for a customer that only sees Howard a couple times a year he always greets me by my name with a smile. The girls he hires are always polite. As far as what that other review was saying I'm not sure how you could come to the conclusion that you only get one freebie per customer I just got a free tan a few weekends ago when they were having a weekend promo. I LOVE this place! I just started tanning here a few months ago, and I always enjoy coming in for a quick session. The young girls at the counter are always very nice and always smiling. The beds and rooms are always clean and ready for me, I have only had to wait for a bed twice the entire time i've been tanning here! Can't say enough good things about this tanning salon. I've been tanning here since I moved to Lenexa and this is the place to go if you want to tan. The owners and staff are always really helpful, friendly, and greet me every time I walk in, and thank me when I leave. They go out of their way to make sure the customer has the best experience. The salon and beds are always super clean and they change the bulbs in the beds frequently which is a huge plus. This is the best tanning salon I've ever been too and I've been tanning for years. I can't say enough how great the customer service is here. They are always running specials on lotions and tanning packages. It's very clean and tidy. Everyone always has a smile on their face and is happy to see you, even when you come in 10 minutes before their 9pm closing time. They have a great selection of beds and I've never experienced more than a 5 minute wait. They have a deal on "cocktail tanning" that is just a level 4 bed before a spray tan that is fantastic. Would be a five star review if it wasn't for the lady with the short blonde hair and glasses and super loud southern accent. Every customer I've seen her deal with is a WAY too hard push on their lotions. I forgot my lotion one time and made me feel like I was committing a sin. I've been tanning for years and I understand how lotion works. And honestly using a cheaper lotion like the poor girl in front of me today does not deserve a degrading. Stop pushing your products and just let people tan. Everyone else there is amazingly spectacular. So friendly and nice. And the owner is awesome!!! But I'm sure for writing this review I'm going to get degraded by the other lady too. Worth it if she stops bothering everyone about your damn lotions. read more

After doing some research I believe that it's the toxic chemicals in all of our commercial lotions, make up, and sun screens that is contributing to the rise in skin cancer along with vitamin D deficiency so I decided I would tan especially during the winter months.
