Whether you're here to shop, eat, or get a little exercise in...oak park mall is definitely a spot for it all. Depending on which shop you stop at, service and value differs. I'm yet to have a bad experience with any store owners. There are some pricey shops but I've also seen inexpensive places to shop as well. It all depends on where you stop. Definitely recommend coming here if you're a kc native or just simply touring the city. For those with kiddos, I recommend the kids play zone, my daughter loved the carousel ride. read more

I was recommended by a friend in Kansas City to check this place out and I was pretty impressed with this mall. This place is absolutely huge and massive. I'm a big fan of indoor malls and I spent a good amount of time here checking out all the stores seeing what this place offered. This place has an abundance of parking and a great selection of restaurants in the food court. I really like the selection of stores feature here from: FYE, Spencer's, some home good stores, some upscale stores a Dillard's and even an arcade as well. There's definitely plenty to check out this mall , it's clean and there's plenty of people shopping here. I highly recommend checking this place out. read more

Located in an easy to access area that's completely safe off of Quivera, Oak Park mall is a grand family friendly experience that while shopping, no one need worry over things like fights or thievery. There are two stories of fun with several escalators and elevators to access them with the food court being on the second level. The place can be cramped at time especially during the holiday season but it's not the worst I've wondered around in. Speaking of the holidays, be sure to take the family when it's Xmas as they do a lot of decorating and the kids will love it! As for they stores, they have a little something for almost everyone. The kids will love the Retro Zone, Lego store, Game Stop, Disney and Build-a-bear to name a few not failing to mention a merry-go-round and play area for the toddlers. As for the men, there aren't many big-name anchor chains so if it's a family day, dads your options are limited in the mall itself unless you like Barnes and Noble or Spencers. The ladies, they already know so I won't bother making a mini-list. As for the food court, my kids and I love Sarku Japan over all. Why? Well, because the Chicken Teriyaki with extra chicken of course! We've enjoyed that together since they were old enough to go to the mall. While I can't speak on many of the other food options we also get pretzel bites from Auntie Anne's as they never disappoint as well as Haagen-Dazs or Great American Cookies for that sweet tooth. The do have a Panera Bread and 5 guys as in mall restaurant options but I think a Dave and Busters would do well here. Overall, Oak Park mall is a throwback to the glory days of the malls, resisting the decay of "brick and mortar" shops and malls in general. I can't think of a better place to take the kids for a day and have almost everything you need in a climate controlled environment. Unprofessional and Accusatory Manager at Oak Park Mall Windsor On my daughter's birthday, December 28, 2025, we went to the Windsor store in Oak Park Mall, Overland Park, KS, to return an unworn dress she bought online for a February 2026 event. The store manager, Christy (who initially refused to give her name and said "Manager" was her first name), immediately accused my daughter of wearing the dress and removing the tag. When my daughter explained that the cashier had checked the dress & turned it inside out, and the tag was intact, Christy claimed Windsor tags differently, implied my daughter had retagged it incorrectly, and even sniffed the dress without explaining why. Her condescending and hostile tone drew attention from other customers and made my daughter feel humiliated. Christy eventually accepted the return "this one time," framing it as a personal favor. She also refused to provide corporate contact information and walked away while I attempted to document it. My husband, a retired police captain, noted that he has never treated anyone he arrested with such suspicion or disrespect. Friends have shared similar experiences with this manager. Because of this experience, our family will no longer shop at Windsor or order online. Other customers should be aware of the unprofessional behavior at this location. Before most regional malls turned into anemic versions on life support of their former selves, they were the shopping Main Streets and city centers for suburbanites. Bustling and vibrant, they offered a multitude of entertainment/dining/shopping choices. They felt safe. A week wouldn't go by without your visit. Oak Park is still all that. From middle-of-the-road J.C. Penney to upscale Nordstrom, the mall provides plenty of options. Restaurants and a food court with 10 eateries provide dining choices. There's a movie theater, bungee swing, and people-watching for entertainment. (Sadly, the double-decker carousel has been removed.) In a busy Saturday we still found close parking on the vast lot. read more

We enjoy coming to this mall. The employees are friendly and there are a lot of store options that interest different members of our family. The kids like the toy stores, sports shops, and my wife and I like Barnes and Noble. Most things are priced well though some shops sell things at a little bit of a premium but these seem like smaller shops. We usually come here when we're in town and usually find something that is hard to find, like our oldest found a City Connect Bobby Witt Jr. jersey this trip. read more

Oak Park Mall is a vibe. Being a KC native, and growing up not too far from this mall, when I walked through the doors for the first time in probably three years, I was hit with nostalgia overload. I parked in the Nordstrom lot, as I always have, and as I walked through the doors something like muscle memory guided me through the mall. The smell, the look of the place, and most of the shops have not changed. It is still the quintessential mall for the greater KC metro area and the best place to hang out if you want to relive your early aughts high school experience. Whatever you have in your mind as a mall, this should hit the mark. You've got a standard food court, clean bathrooms, and loads of stores from H&M to Eddie Bauer. Now, I came here one day specifically for the Disney store to pick up a minnie mouse doll for my daughter and I was bummed that it left! I googled it and it looks like it left years ago so that is clearly on me. I'm guessing that it may have been because folks like me only go once every 5 years for a kid's birthday party. Regardless this mall is still pretty great, it's got it's pros and cons, but overall it has tons of shops, tons of places to eat, and plenty of parking. read more

Finally a huge real mall that Missouri offers. I'm from the Las Vegas Nevada market so if you guys can understand the surroundings and relate to. Then you will love this place. I would say in comparison this is five times better than Independence Mall. This mall is actually huge! Almost every store you can think of from clothing to jewelry and your favorite designer brands and more are in this mall. The food court is pretty awesome too seem like it's very busy there. Except for the temptation to buy cinnamon-and-sugar-coated nuts or freshly baked buttery pretzels from the vendors, or anything else at any of the many shops full of sweet treats, Oak Park Mall is a great place to get in your walking workout! For fair-weather walkers like myself, when it's too hot/cold/rainy/snowy (yep, I'm a wimp!) to walk in the great outdoors, it's the perfect weather-proof haven! There are two full levels with lots of interesting sights and sounds, long stretches of mostly empty* indoor sidewalk, and a bunch of escalators to actually WALK up and down whether they're running or not! And knowing there is always a restroom available is an added benefit and beats the heck out of the cesspools of port-a-potties in the park! TIPS 1) Park close enough to get in and out fast because you won't want to lug your coat/hat/gloves/umbrella around while working up a sweat! 2) But DO take and WEAR your required mask! 3) Leave your money and credit cards at home so you're not tempted to buy stuff. Bath & Body Works is my kryptonite! 4) Carry ID of some sort on your person or in a fanny pack on the remote chance you wear yourself out and need assistance. 5) *The current relative emptiness of the mall and walkways during The Curse of Covid also means there are no available drinking fountains, so take your own water or a few bucks to get some from vending machines. read more

Going to the mall is so much FUN!! I don't know why malls fell so put of favor. Malls are great places to get exercise, people watch, shop and eat. Oak Mall fills all those needs. Oak Park Mall has a variety of stores to shop. There is everything from bath products, Hallmark cards, tea, to high end purses. Stores galore! I love the options. I go here regularly to get my nails done and the nail shop is located next door to a massage place. That gives you an idea about the wide selection available. You can go pricey to cheap at the mall depending on where you shop. You can spend $2 for a pretzel or $200 for a pair of shoes. There are plenty of ramps for those who need accessibility, too. This is a great place to walk and get exercise. I always see people walking through the mall and getting their steps in for the day. They always seem happy. The food court has many wonderful selections. My favorite pizza in all KC is at this mall food court. There is a Chipotle, a juice cafe and a Panda Garden in addition to others. Every staff member that I have encountered here has been very nice. I've even had staff help carry purchased items to my car for me. One time I was in a cast and a pizza shop employee at the food court brought me pizza curbside. What a great gesture! Nice place to shop and dine! Parking is never an issue here. It is plentiful and easy. There is a private parking lot and a garage. Plenty of options. read more

Pretty big mall. I didn't find what I was looking for until literally the last store, The Children's Place. I made a few stops along the way. I grabbed some Topsy's Popcorn... delicious, played with some LEGO, did some window shopping, and almost bought me some UGG-like shoes. They looked warm and comfortable. The best mall I've been to so far in my life way better than ward parkway and crown center.

I have grown up going to this mall and today was our first full length visit since 2020. Here is my takeaway: Parking: Our favorite place to park is the Macy's entrance on the side of the mall. It's never crowded and it's quick and easy access to the mall. The Food Court and Barnes and Noble entrance is always crowded and it's more difficult to acquire a parking spot. You may also have good luck parking near Nordstrom. Store variety: The mall has its typical flagships but a lot of stores have either closed or moved to smaller spaces to accommodate for changes due to the pandemic. This visit, we visited H&M and Claire's. H&M had a terrible selection of clothes with hefty price increases. Bonus: They were fully staffed and everyone was very nice. Claire's was in a micro-pod of a space and the eight people in the store made it feel like fifty. It was severely overcrowded and merchandise kept falling on the floor. It was awful. They still have buy 3 get 3 for free-but you will spend over $30 after taxes for costume jewelry to get the benefit. Not worth it for me. Best stores: Sephora, Barnes and Noble, Nordstrom, Macy's, Dillards, Express and Bath and Body Works. Victoria's Secret is an oldie but goody and The Nailery has been around for decades. (not a fan though.) To get the most out of your visit, it's best to understand what you are there for and what you need. JC Penny is hit or miss for clothing selection and Foot Locker is still around. There is a little something for everyone. Food Court: Decent selection but it can get crowded very quickly. (It is on the smaller side.) Besides the flagships, I honestly think this is how OPM is staying open. It is always busy no matter what time of day you visit. When to Visit: Because OPM is one of two enclosed malls in the metro, it can be more crowded than normal-especially around the holidays. For a Saturday evening, it was moderately crowded but tolerable. I personally enjoy going during the week around the daytime hours when it isn't as busy. (The lunch rush from noon to about 2pm is the Food Court's busiest time.) Overall, it was a decent visit. Sadly, it's not the same as before but the fact it's survived online retail and a pandemic is impressive. I also think the mall being in Overland Park has benefitted its survival as well. If you're looking for a decent enclosed mall experience, you can't go wrong with Oak Park. read more

I'm not a mall guy, but I have to say that Oak Park Mall isn't so bad. In fact, Oak Park Mall is one of the only malls around town to continue thriving, or if we want to set the standards lower, one of the few to dodge a wrecking ball. This one has many spots you can get in or out of, a massive, sprawling parking lot, and tons of department stores baked into the edges of the mall. I really think it's about as convenient as a mall can be. Inside, it's hustling and bustling, at least on the weekends I've been in here. Around the holidays, especially early when I'm full of cheer, it's kind of nice to be in here with holiday music, lights, the smell of pretzels and food court snacks wafting through the air. I'm even surprised at myself reading this as the words come out, but a recent positive experience here has me thinking this place is worth coming out to, especially with all the variety and full shops they have here. read more

Malls in the old days were giant enclosed buildings. Many of those are now gone, having been remodeled to open-air spaces, repurposed into other developments, or simply demolished due to changing shopping habits and times. One that remains is Oak Park Mall. Oak Park Mall is currently anchored by Dillard's, Nordstrom, Macy's, and JC Penney, though Nordstrom is leaving in 2021. The mall has two floors with plenty of the different retail shops that you find in a typical suburban mall. Dining options consist of the food court and a few standalone restaurants along the exterior of the mall. Despite the decline of enclosed shopping malls, Oak Park Mall seems to be doing relatively okay. It draws a decent crowd, and there are not too many vacancies. Though Oak Park Mall is not the best mall, it is the largest one in the area and the only enclosed one besides Independence Center. Also, it is relatively well-maintained despite its dated appearances, and parking is so plentiful that it cannot run out. Personally, I enjoy online shopping, but the brick-and-mortar stores save me from the hassle of returning items that are not as expected or paying for shipping. I am not a huge fan of enclosed malls either as I prefer more natural lighting, but enclosed malls are perfect for when the weather is no good. There are not a bunch of shopping malls left and right to choose from so Oak Park Mall is sometimes the only place to go besides the internet. read more

Maybe it's the 90s girl in me, but I still get excited when I enter the mall. I'm sad that they are quickly becoming a thing of the past. :( However, I feel Oak Park Mall will be able to hold on for awhile. Yes, stores have left, but new ones move in. They've done a good job on maintaining the building as a whole. I rarely get the feeling it's starting to look rundown. I really like the children's play area and carousel. It's a good place to let the kids run and burn off some energy. The carousel isn't cheap, but it's a fun treat for the few times a year we are here. The carousel is pretty impressive for being in a mall. It's two stories and covered in lights, so through the eyes of a child it's magical. As a child my parents would never have been able to get me off that thing. :) The only part of the mall that bums me out is the food court. It's starting to have a sadder selection of restaurants and never seems busy. The good thing is they still have pretzel kiosks! Mall pretzels are in a league of their own. No one can resist them. While you're here make sure to check out this great little collection of local stores that have taken over a single store front and turned it into a multi-store area. It's very cool! Vans, Spencer's , Journeys, JC Penny, Bath and Body Works, etc. there's also a food court with at least half a dozen choices. They are very walker friendly as there are mile markers along the way. Oak park mall has a lot of staples stores that you see in every mall but they do have a good selection of local stores and unique stores. They do have several spaces that seem to go out of business a lot and their bathrooms are not always kept up as well as they need to be but I love that they have an area for kids to play in and a carousel. The Kansas City metro does not lack shopping malls but what it does lack are indoor ones. I believe Oak Park Mall is one of three in the area, the others being Independence Center and Crown Plaza. I think Oak Park Mall is better than the other indoor shopping malls based on retailer choice, cleanliness, parking, and amenities. Oak Park Mall has decent retailers with four major anchor department stores. Although this number is going down to three once Nordstrom moves to the Country Club Plaza. I'm worried that with Nordstrom leaving, the mall will loose even more foot traffic and slowly die. I'm hoping Macy*s, Dillards, and JCPenney can keep this mall alive because it's got all the popular shops that I typically visit: H&M & Express. It's even got a Microsoft Store which was huge when it opened. I wish the Apple Store would open up shop here to get more visitors. Malls see a lot of visitors and upkeep is important. I think Oak Park Mall does a decent job here. The flooring along the large and open hallways are usually clean and sparkly. The bathrooms are decent, not great but decent. They also do a good job of decorating during the holiday shopping time frame. Parking can be a nightmare at shopping centers, especially coming from a Southern California native where I fear for my life (& car) when I drive into the parking lot. There is ample parking at Oak Park Mall. The best place to park is around Nordstrom and Macy*s where there are two 2-level parking garages. Amenities are decent, not great. They finally have free Wi-Fi for guests and it actually let's you stream YouTube videos. The food court is not large but it has a decent selection. There is even a nice carousel in the middle of the mall for the kiddos. Overall I am so glad there is a decent indoor shopping mall in the KC Metro. The retailers may not be high end like that in the Country Club Plaza but the convenience of ample parking, cleanliness and it being a totally indoor, climate-controlled mall is great in my book! read more

I really enjoy this mall, and I am no mall person. It's not difficult. The parking is easy, it's not overcrowded, or has not been on my visits. Of course it's Sephora that's the draw for me--a full store, as well as one in JC Penny. Ok so Nordstrom is another reason for me to shop here. And I have to admit, I really do like the blingy carousel. . . I'll just have to ride it next time. Now, the only thing I would suggest for Oak Park, is some sort of notice to make people aware of the steps that drop every so often in the main corridors. I understand there are handrails, however, when I'm checking out windows while walking, it just escapes me. Maybe a different color before you reach the steps? I feel bad for anyone handicap- we had a double stroller and it was very annoying for ourselves and everyone around us with a long double stroller. Dumb! Malls are defintetly not on my list of favorite palces in the world and I stay away as much as possible. But if I must walk inside one, Oak Park Mall would be my first choice. I prefer Oak Park Mall compared to Independence Center which is much closer to me. Oak Park is very spacious and you can get lost in there for an entire day if you're not careful. They have a really great Gelato shop and plenty of comfy chairs if you get too tired of walking. The thing that stands out to me the most is that Oak Park has Kiosk- vendors just like any other mall, but these people don't bombard you with sales pitches or beg you to fill out a survey, or chase you down demanding your entuire paycheck (*cough* stupid Independence Center kiosks *cough*) If a mall trip is to be had, Oak Park Mall is the mall of choice. read more

When you're at home, sitting in your favorite chair and you lean back and close your eyes to dream about beige-colored suburbia, Oak Park Mall is probably one of the first images that pops in your head. And that's okay. If you're from or close to Johnson County then the Oak Park Mall is a fixture in your life. They have all the stores you can think of that you would find in a mall plus a good amount of fixtures and hallway merchants to pitch things while you walk. In recent years, a new management team has taken over and brought welcome updates, like some new escalators, tenants and even a couple of parking options. The mall is now clean and modern with no signs of decay. There are plenty of places to park. My favorite is the parking garage just to the east of Nordstrom (pro-tip, during holiday season when this place is bonkers, you can usually find spaces on the second or top floor of this garage) or to the west of JC Penney. You can usually get in and out in a decent amount of time. read more

Oak Park Mall is the last of the great indoor malls in Kansas City. I grew up in KC with a lot of indoor malls, and aside from the remodeling/resurgence of the Ward Parkway mall (which includes mostly outdoor store entrances) Oak Park Mall has managed to stay reasonably clean and safe over the years. I think its location and store selection has a lot to do with it. The mall is set up like any other; it has a main (two way) thoroughfare down the middle with shops and wings on each side. The food court, at one end is my favorite part, boasts the likes of Original Pizza and Panda Express. There is also a Nordstrom's on one end that is a great place to shop and even more fun to people watch, especially during the holidays. read more
