Oil Changers

I used to really appreciate the Oil Changers on Clovis Ave, but my most recent visit has me…read morethinking that will be my last. The price seems to increase significantly upon each visit...been going here for several years consistently & it's gone from $80 to $130, for a basic 15 minute oil change. That's $520/hour. Most of your average customers don't make over $500/ hr, but you are charging these insane prices & have the nerve to ask us to tip you on top of that?? Here's a couple tips: You can pay your employees a proper wage at those rates & stop throwing the increase onto the customer! An oil change is a very basic thing that anyone who knows how to drive should be able to do on their own; the reason they don't is out of convenience, but when the convenience of your service no longer outweighs the cost, people will go back to doing it themselves! I was almost due for an oil change & my tire pressure was a bit low due to the cooler weather, so I decided to run through as my previous experiences have been quick & efficient. The guy (who I think was a manager) that has always been very helpful in the past did not seem to be there. All new unrecognizable crew. The first guy (James) who was trying to upsell me on a fuel injector cleaner for an additional $130, (my car is 3 yrs old & has 25K miles on it) said that other oil change companies like Valvoline (who I mentioned advertising better prices when I clocked the significant increase) would "put the filter back on so tight they'd crack it & "if your husband ever wanted to change the oil, he wouldn't be able to get it off". I told him, "I'd be under there before my husband would", he said "oh" & just walked away never to return. Then the guy replacing the oil (Cole) asked me if I wanted him to check my tire pressure or wash the windows (which are typically done without question upon each visit)...airing up the tires was actually what prompted my visit, so yes please! He didn't bother to show me my air filter or offer to replace it, but I could clearly see it had some leaves in it (which they usually blow out with the air hose) but he just put it back without showing it to me or blowing it out...why even bother removing it if you're not going to do anything with it? Felt like they were screwing with me a bit, as 3 cars were in & out of the bay next to me while we sat there waiting for 43 minutes (not including the wait time to get into the bay) for the same service that usually takes 15 (and obviously did for those next to us). Another guy came to collect my payment. He told me to chose a tip & sign his tablet before he even ran my card, as he held my card in his hand. I asked him why I was signing before my card was run, he said "That's just how it is here". Then he tried to tell me that my card declined. I looked at him & said "What"? He said "The card went through, your balance declined", I said "I don't think so!" The bank notification of the charge being processed was literally coming across my phone screen at that moment that he said it didn't go through. Pretty sure the look on my face told him that we were not going to play that game & he immediately gave a nervous laugh & said "I'm just kidding, I'm just kidding". I don't know what kind of game he was playing, if he was trying to get me to let him run my card again or what, but there's some shady business practices going on there & I don't think I'll be going back. Also, he didn't provide me with a receipt or any written record of services. Now I feel like I need to get under my car (which I don't have time for) to see if they even changed my filter...at this point I don't even trust that I got the service that I paid for! Also...my dash cam was recording the entire time.

Clovis Auto Shop - Friend needed repair & smog

Clovis Auto Shop

(193 reviews)

Dear potential Clovis Auto Shop customers,…read more I want to share my experience with one of the last truly honest auto shops in the greater Fresno/Clovis area. I live in Clovis, CA, and work as a traveling sales executive, which means my vehicle is essential to my job. I put a lot of miles on my cars and regularly rely on auto shops for both routine maintenance and repairs. That's why I feel confident recommending Clovis Auto Shop. They are an outstanding group of people--friendly, courteous, and straightforward in their communication. I've worked with Manuel, Raul, and the owner, Ron, and every interaction has been positive. Whether it's basic services like oil changes or more advanced work such as engine or transmission repairs, they consistently deliver high-quality service. What truly sets them apart, however, is their honesty and integrity. On several occasions, they have gone above and beyond in ways that many shops simply wouldn't. For example, I recently brought in my Ford Expedition because it wouldn't start. Initially, the issue was misdiagnosed, and an expensive engine procedure was performed. Once they realized the mistake, they immediately informed me and did not charge me for the unnecessary work. My bill dropped from nearly $1,000 to about $264. That level of honesty is rare--they could have easily charged me, and I would never have known. In the end, they correctly fixed the issue, and my car has been running perfectly. Another instance happened a few years ago with a different vehicle. Clovis Auto Shop installed a Jasper rebuilt engine with a 4-year/40,000-mile warranty. The engine failed early in the fourth year, even though the mileage was still low. Both the shop and I felt this was unusually premature. Instead of leaving me to deal with it on my own, they advocated on my behalf with Jasper and secured a very favorable deal on a replacement engine. They could have simply said "tough luck," but they didn't. Experiences like these are why I consider Clovis Auto Shop to be one of the most honest and reliable shops around. I recommend them without hesitation. For full transparency, I have no family or friends who own or work at the shop--I'm simply a loyal customer who appreciates great service. Thank you. Lou Gonzalez Clovis, CA

Getting a smog check is honestly an inconvenient when you just want to pay for your car registration, but of course, I need to get an inspection first. Clovis Auto Shop makes the burden bearable. I did not make an appointment but I was in and out in 30 minutes. I waited in their clean waiting area that had a tv, complimentary coffee and snacks. The girl at the front desk was friendly and efficient. The cost was very reasonable. Out the door $55.
