Dear potential Clovis Auto Shop customers, I want to share my experience with one of the last truly honest auto shops in the greater Fresno/Clovis area. I live in Clovis, CA, and work as a traveling sales executive, which means my vehicle is essential to my job. I put a lot of miles on my cars and regularly rely on auto shops for both routine maintenance and repairs. That's why I feel confident recommending Clovis Auto Shop. They are an outstanding group of people--friendly, courteous, and straightforward in their communication. I've worked with Manuel, Raul, and the owner, Ron, and every interaction has been positive. Whether it's basic services like oil changes or more advanced work such as engine or transmission repairs, they consistently deliver high-quality service. What truly sets them apart, however, is their honesty and integrity. On several occasions, they have gone above and beyond in ways that many shops simply wouldn't. For example, I recently brought in my Ford Expedition because it wouldn't start. Initially, the issue was misdiagnosed, and an expensive engine procedure was performed. Once they realized the mistake, they immediately informed me and did not charge me for the unnecessary work. My bill dropped from nearly $1,000 to about $264. That level of honesty is rare--they could have easily charged me, and I would never have known. In the end, they correctly fixed the issue, and my car has been running perfectly. Another instance happened a few years ago with a different vehicle. Clovis Auto Shop installed a Jasper rebuilt engine with a 4-year/40,000-mile warranty. The engine failed early in the fourth year, even though the mileage was still low. Both the shop and I felt this was unusually premature. Instead of leaving me to deal with it on my own, they advocated on my behalf with Jasper and secured a very favorable deal on a replacement engine. They could have simply said "tough luck," but they didn't. Experiences like these are why I consider Clovis Auto Shop to be one of the most honest and reliable shops around. I wrote a review here over 12 years ago! My family and I have brought all of our cars here for a smog check for years. Getting a smog check is honestly an inconvenient when you just want to pay for your car registration, but of course, I need to get an inspection first. Clovis Auto Shop makes the burden bearable. I did not make an appointment but I was in and out in 30 minutes. I waited in their clean waiting area that had a tv, complimentary coffee and snacks. Five stars all around. Fast service, responsive, employees, and just overall great customer service. I found Clovis Auto Shop on Yelp and called about my Honda CRV. I explained what the issue was and scheduled an appointment for drop off the following week. Yes, the following week! This place is busy and now I understand why. I dropped my car off on a Tuesday at 8 AM and by the early afternoon they called me and had identified the problem(s). Luckily for me, I just needed a few spark plugs and other items replaced, topped off, and cleaned. I was told my car would be done by EOD the following day Wednesday or possibly Thursday. To my delight a customer had canceled their appointment and I took their place. My car was done and ready to go by 10 am Wednesday! My car is running so much smoother and has way more get up and go. Needed a smog inspection today as a part of my registration process. I wasn't paying attention to it fact that it was needed to get my tags. I have driven by this shop hundreds of times. I stopped in. And was greeted by Manuel Cantù. Service was efficient and the best part is the immaculate and comfortable waiting room!! The customer restroom was spotless. I went in for a smog check on a Saturday morning. I did not have an appointment. They were efficient and got the job done. Price was around $60 for a 2015 vehicle, which I thought was reasonable. Location is particularly convenient, on Clovis Avenue. There are so many cute shops and places to stop and eat. You are welcome to hang out in their lobby and they make it very hospitable with snacks and beverages available. However, I chose to go walk around for a little while while I waited for my car. Would definitely go back if/when I need a smog check again. read more

I took my 2016 Jeep Cherokee in for service and a check engine light issue. What I thought was a routine maintenance problem turned out to be more severe. The staff and mechanics were great at keeping me informed about the repairs. They walked me through the steps of what was needed and even suggested some additional maintenance items to be on the look out for. minus stars if i could. very over priced. you can do better first salvage cars have changed for regisyration. you need a certificate in order to register. only buy one if they have that certificate to go with the sale of your new car. so to get that certificate you must pay. this place charges $360, then fix everything they find wrong. then another $250 to retest. you will be over charged if you let them do the work. so convenient right. their $600 price for one repair. i was able to find a reputable place for $400. best go to bgm automotive.. behind herndon and clovis ave. tell them the lady with the jetta sent you read more

Had to get one car smogged and looked on Yelp and this place popped up and I am really glad it did. I called the day before and made an appointment for a smog test. It was $42 all together which is a great price . They were fast and efficient . The shop itself was nice and easy to get to. It's right on Clovis avenue next to the kwik gas station. I've been bringing my cars here for years. They have always been honest, courteous, and professional. I just took a car to a stealership. They quoted me repairs totally $6000 that "had to get done now." I brought it to Clovis Auto Shop for a second opinion. They did the same evaluation and inspections. Guess the result? 1-Star Review Clovis Auto Shop is an absolute clown show. The so-called "mechanics" here are walking proof that you can fail upward in life. They all are brain dead and I wouldn't trust them to inflate a bike tire, let alone inspect a vehicle. I don't know if they got their certifications out of a vending machine or just lied on their job applications, but these guys have no business working on anything more complex than a scooter. First visit, I got a nail in their parking lot and they had the audacity to say I'd fail for a flat tire and laughed when I was getting towed away. I clearly didn't have one on or before arrival. Second time, they failed my 2018 Porsche Macan because they didn't know how to operate the daylight running lights or rear fog lights. Then they claimed my tire sensors were bad even after I reset everything in front of their blank, confused faces. This place is staffed by people who shouldn't be allowed near cars, tools, or decision-making of any kind. It's a miracle if you get a mechanic there that has shaved within the last month or so. I was a walk in and didn't have an appointment but they were able to get me in. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The waiting room was clean and comfortable. read more

Just took my vehicle here for check engine light issues. They did a great job in resolving all of the codes that were listed in the code reader. The car is running a lot smoother now and there are no incomplete monitors showing. Also had them change my oil since the car was already there and their price for an oil change was a good value for the money. I went in to get my headlight beams adjusted and received the best customer service ever! Making an appointment was very easy; all I had to do was call. They were very friendly and professional. Once their technician checked my headlights, they noticed that my headlights didn't need to be adjusted and I wasn't charged. Since I moved to Clovis several years ago, I have tried several auto shops and have always felt overcharged or cheated. This has been the only place where I have had reliable work completed, they also do not push for unnecessary repairs and are very honest with what needs or should be fixed. I'm SO impressed with the service I receive here every time. They don't try to charge you for things you don't need and they make you feel like you and your car really matter to them. I have a lifetime oil change with Hyundai Lithia and they do inspection when I take my car in so they can try to sell me other services since my oil changes are free. They told me I had about 6 different things wrong with my car. I called Clovis Auto Shop and right away they quoted me less than what Hyundai Lithia was going to charge me. When I went to my appointment, they did a 46 point inspection and sent me a text message with a link to a detailed description with pictures. Out of the 6 things that Hyundai Lithia was trying to sell me, they only recommend 1. Instead of the $500+ I was expecting to spend, I only paid $200. I am SO thankful that Clovis Auto Shop can be ho est with me about what my car needs and doesn't need. I love that they didn't try to take advantage of me and I appreciate their accommodating customer service. We took our Toyota in for oil change and brakes. They found that the oil filter was over tightened and had to replace the housing because they were unable to get the filter off normally, they got new rotors, turned them, and Front pads. I had a liscense plate bulb out and was replaced no charge. Over all they were professional, kept us informed, and reasonable charges. I asked for parts back because I am going to show the previous place the oil housing to see if they will reimburse me for the charge I had to pay. Thank you clovis auto shop! read more

I took my car in for an alignment 2 months ago because I had some previous parts replaced. I asked them if they could fit my lowered car on their lift for my alignment and they said yes. So, I left my car there and they called to tell me I needed new tires. If I wasn't going to get new tires they recommended not doing an alignment until I get new tires. Fast forward to today, my front passenger tire blew out. After taking both front tires off my vehicle, I noticed both tires were bald in the inner portion of the tire. I called about their warranty on my tires and they refused to replace my tires because my car is modified - (lowered). After 3 separate professional opinions, I communicated with Clovis Auto Shop that my tire blew out because of their alignment, not because of the lowered vehicle. Clovis Auto Shop stated that was not what happened. The reason the tire blew out was because the car is lowered and both tires are rubbing on the wheel well and partial frame at ALL speeds, which is not true. I took my car elsewhere to have it realigned and was told the camber was fine, but whoever did the alignment was way off by 4 degrees and is the reason my tire blew. I've gone to this place multiple times and have had great service; however, due to this issue, I will not be returning to this establishment. I genuinely feel robbed because my car has been lowered for 7 years and have NEVER run into an issue like this previously. GOOD LUCK TO ANYONE WHO COMES WITH A MODIFIED VEHICLE. read more

My Sonata with a 2.0 turbo engine was in limp mode (wouldn't accelerate, check engine chiming, knock noise). When I called they couldn't get me in for a week and said they were charging me $229 upfront to look at it! Thankfully I did my own work looking into the issue. It's a WIDELY KNOWN engine issue with Hyundai's that there is now a lifetime guarantee in the engines from the dealer. No diagnosis fee. Nothing. To ruthlessly charge people $229 knowing what it is? Or if they "didn't know" what kind of business doesn't stay up on warranties? Felt like they were being scummy. read more
