Wow... I don't know what all the complaints are about! I went here today expecting to leave about around a $1000 poorer. Let me explain: I thought it was time to put brakes on my 21 Ford F150. I had been having some front end shaking. So after calling around, I decided that I would just take my truck over here, and I am glad that I did. I went in and told the Service Advisor that I wanted the brakes done on both axles, a brake fluid change and, while they were at it, a tire rotation and balancing. Well, about an hour later the Service Advisor came in and told me that the technician told him that the brakes were in "very good condition" and that the likely issue with the front end shaking was due to the tires being "WAY" out of balance. In fact, unbeknownst to me, one of the wheels had shed its balancing weights completely, so that tire was way out of whack. So, $71.96 later, the truck is back to normal with no shaking whatsoever. Now, how many other shops, including Ford dealers would have the ethics to do that when a customer comes in wanting $1000 in parts and labor for repairs? Most repair shops would just say, "well, the customer wants brakes, so let's give him brakes and for good measure, let's say it needs new rotors as well". How would anyone know? I will happily recommend Pep Boys in Clovis and will definitely be back when any of my vehicles need servicing. read more

I picked up a mail in my front tire, and I took it in to get it repaired. I've bought my tires from Pep Boys for years now and they're going to charge me $22 to get it repaired. That would not be bad, except for there are a lot of places where I did not buy my tires that would do it for free as a service. This is ridiculous to charge a loyal customer one other places do it for free. They can look on their computer and see that I have bought my last several sets of tires from them. My wife and I took our car in on Saturday morning (around 8 am) to assess the ac which was blowing warm, we were told over the phone at 4:30 pm that the Freon needs to be evacuated and recharged. We said okay, but is it going to be done today? The guy on the phone yelled back at the mechanic saying can you be done today? He said yes he'd have it done. That was at 4:39 pm, and supposedly the mechanic was off at 5. They called us back at 5:25pm saying it was repaired and ready to go. We drove down there and the guy at the front seemed very agitated before even helping us, ranting to his coworker about an angry customer "you missed it bro", and then complaining about "an Asian lady on the phone" and that he couldn't understand her. He finally got to us, shoved paperwork at us to sign, for the amount of $637.33. Keys were given back and we left. We drove half a mile, realized the air was still blowing hot, turned around and came back. Went up to the mechanics and asked them why we paid and were told it was fixed when it's still blowing hot. The same man who checked us out came and held his hand (not a thermometer) in front of the ac in the running car and waved his arms in frustration as if he thought it was fine and didn't understand the problem. We went back inside and asked for a refund, we were denied, saying the manager has to do it. We came back on Monday morning, we were told we had a 9am appointment with the manager, Alex. He told us he cannot issue a refund until his AC mechanic takes a look and does another assessment and he's not in till tomorrow. We said okay fine. Came back on a Tuesday morning, at 9:30 when we were told the AC mechanic would be there. They took our car back, and we decided to watch and record the entire thing this time, as we believe we were lied to. Ernesto was the mechanic this time (I believe Ramiro was the mechanic from Saturday), and Ernesto was super courteous, professional, kind, and seemed to know what he was doing. Alex, the manager, was rude, talked down to us, would not listen, interrupted constantly and then belittled when he was interrupted. He made every excuse in the world on why it wasn't fixed on Saturday, saying everything was done correctly, essentially just covering for his mechanic. He could not provide a single proof of any work being done, and said there's no documentation, because the mechanic does the assessment by looking at things, not plugging anything in or writing anything down. Ernesto did another evac and recharge, and he explained everything he was doing, showed us the numbers, and explained he had to do that in order to see if it is maybe the compressor. They never admitted that it wasn't done on Saturday, but all signs are pointing to that. Ernesto finally told us it is indeed the compressor. Alex finally came back out and explained he would do the refund. He and my wife got into an argument as he continued to talk down and be rude with everything he said, to the point where he actually made fun of my wife in a motion that she made while backing up away from him, and we have everything recorded. We had reached 2 hours being here at the shop at this point. We had asked to see the air filter because at this point we didn't believe it had actually been replaced. Ernesto showed us the clean filter however, he stated they put the wrong one in. They did not have the correct one in stock, so they ordered one to have O'reillys deliver. We waited another 45 min and when Alex finally had that filter in his hands, he yelled out Ernesto's name, and chucked the filter across the garage, at least a full bay and a half length! Ernesto wasn't prepared for that so it hit the floor. Again, we have all of this on camera. I am blown away at the choices that were made by Alex today, I'm just thankful we finally got our refund. We will never step foot in a pep boys again, and we will be sharing this experience with whom ever will listen. We have opened a report with the BBB as well. Alex's behavior today was beyond reprehensible, I don't know how he was deemed worthy of being a manager with how he acts under pressure. When you have an irate customer, you practice patience and good customer service to deescalate the situation. If anything he only escalated the situation further. read more

Came in as a walk in and they were quick and super nice! Will definitely be coming here when I need! The 3 cashiers, I remember one was Richard, and the other two were so friendly and helpful I felt comfortable there! Worse experience ever! I went in March to get all four of my brakes done. I noticed after a couple days the squeaking of my brakes got worse. I called them and they said give it a couple days, the brakes need to be broken in. I go back in May because the squeaking is worse, and they noticed the person who did my brakes did not resurface the routers. They resurfaced the routers but did not replace the brake pads which are now messed up from the routers not being resurfaced. I called and told them it was even worse and since it is past the 90s day there is nothing they could do. So i spend hundreds of dollars for my brakes to sound worse. read more

They don't greet you when you enter and they don't care about their customers, they only care about taking your money. They act like they don't even want to help you, they will literally leave you standing in the lobby for half an hour and not say anything to you. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews for this location. I originally went to the location off Blackstone in Fresno and the guy there was incredibly rude, saying he wasn't going to honor the warranty for my brakes even though it was still in the warranty time frame.. so i decided to try this location and wow! WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Richard helped me out no problem and honored the warranty for my brakes. His customer service was 10/10. And to top it off my car was done SAME DAY!! The only reason why I downloaded this app was to make this review. Worst experience. Go here at your own risk. Will not take care of your property. This is how it went. I had a flat tire and brought it in on a Sunday during hours it was still open, and asked if they could replace my tire which they couldn't because they didn't have the size of my tire in stock which is no problem. The next day Monday I called around and asked other shops if they had anything in stock, the only shop that had my size was West Coast tires across the street. Keep in mind my car is in the parking lot of Pep Boys. I bought the tires from West Coast and carried the tires across to pep boys and let them work on my car. I went out with friends for a couple hours in the morning, it was getting kind of long so I had to called the shop and asked what the status was on my vehicle, instead of them getting in touch with me... they said that they couldn't get my tires off. So I came back and had to carry my wheels across the street to west coast and they took care of me 110%. My car was still on the lift at Pep Boys. So I had to carry the wheels back to Pep Boys, they installed the wheels on my car, took it off the lift and they put air in my tires. I took my car home to get ready for work and walked on the other side of my car and I found out there is a HUGE dent on my passenger front fender. I called Pep Boys and told them I am coming back before I go into work to figure this out. THEY DENIED IT! I am trying to get footage of what happened and they will not get back to me. I'm heated. I just received an oil change from this location. I was watching to see if tires were rotated, they were not. I notified at check out that the tires were not rotated. The clerk was adamant they were. I assured him I watched and they were not. He proceeded to call the individual who worked on my vehicle to "convince" me. He also lied. I followed by showing him marking indicators(scratches) on my tires/rims that proved to me that they were not moved. They at this point didn't know what to say and paused as anyone caught in a lie would and then proceeded to convince me to let him provide the service now. I denied. Clearly veracity is not of importance to the employees at this location. I will not be returning for any services from this point forward. Embarrassing service. Hands down worst place to bring your vehicle! My vehicle only had an oil leak and they kept it over 48 hours ! When I picked it up about an hour ago they stated that they replaced the oil pan only thing they had to do was fix the oil pan. When my husband questioned why if only an oil pan was fixed it took over 48 hours to fix the man behind the counter didn't know what to say. He made up an excuse that the my had to make sure sealant was curated. As my husband was driving our vehicle away the oil light came on! We returned and my husband checked the oil and it was empty they had not put any oil back in!! It took them an apology and 10min to then put oil. I WILL NEVER RETURN AGAIN! One star for this branch of Pep Boys - not because the oil change was inadequate, but because one of their service people turned off the automatic settings of my lights (& left them turned off). The first time I drove at night, I left a brightly lit street & entered a freeway where I was almost hit by another vehicle as I tried to get into lane. Only when a couple of other drivers started flashing their lights & using their horns did I realise I had no lights on. I delayed this review to give myself time to cool down. Made appointment for my car for an oil change and to have breaks fixed they were squeaky. I already planned on leaving my car and waiting at home since I live close by. They called a few hours later to let me know I needed new brake pads and rotors and price I was quoted was around what I expected to pay. My car was finished and ready right before they close. The employee working was Dan and he was nice and courteous. I have no complaint except for when arriving it is really hard to find any parking space it was pretty much completely full. I would suggest they should have a drop off spot where no one else can park unless your dropping your car off and they move your vehicle for you. My car was there for at least half a day even with an appointment but it was a Saturday and I didn't expect miracles and just wanted my car fixed that same day. read more

The biggest mistake I have ever made with any of my cars is taking my Pilot to Pepboys for an oil change. I was not aware that their oil change guys are NOT certified. Honda was the only place to ever touch this vehicle before. So, when I had the subsequent oil change at Honda, they discovered the oil pan threads were stripped. The pan had to be replaced. There was no record of this issue prior to taking it to pepboys. $600. Claim denied because pepboys decided it was probably stripped already. Why didn't they catch it? Why, if they open it up and it was stripped did they not tell that to me? The claims adjuster was condescending and had "no way to escalate" and suggested I call the 800 number. Meanwhile, the oil pan had been "received" by the manager at the store. Nobody looked at it. The people denying the claim did not see it. They don't know where the pan is... Check and make sure your technician is certified wherever you go. But don't go to pepboys. Especially not this location, the day I was in there I heard 3 or 4 other people upset with work done at this, apparently, shoddy shop read more

If you value your time at all, don't come here. I made an appointment to get an alignment check. This is a service that takes about 10 minutes to perform. I was told that they would need to keep my car for an hour and a half or longer (longer meaning it could take all day). I had an appointment for an hour after they opened, but I was told there were 10 other cars that made appointments for the same time that would be serviced first. So basically, an appointment means absolutely nothing. They don't value your time, they just want to get you in the door so they can methodically take your money. I was considered getting their lifetime alignment package, but if I have to wait around this long just for a checkup, I can't imagine how long they'd make me wait to perform an alignment that I'd already paid for. A whole week maybe. I was also "helped" by a guy named Jeff who was one of the rudest people I've ever dealt with. He was clearly pissed to be working on the weekend. When I first arrived he tried to tell me to go to another store until I pointed out my name on his appointment screen. When I gave him my key, he walked away without saying anything. He mumbled so incomprehensibly that I had to ask him to repeat everything he said. He would also walk away while talking so I missed half of what he said and had to ask him to repeat it. And on top of that he just had a very callous, apathetic attitude. To the customer service guy who responds to all the reviews on here: Before you tell me to email/call your customer service people, don't. This is what happened: I made an appointment, found out the appointment was BS, and Jeff was very rude. I don't care that your store is busy. If it's busy, don't tell people they have an appointment. Let people know when they can ACTUALLY come in, then help them right away. If that is too hard, close your business. I know nothing will change, since people have been leaving this exact same review for years. That's all I have to say, so don't respond to this review asking for more details. Don't bother with this location. I brought in my daughters car to get work done. I didn't expect it to be done in a day. In fact, all I wanted to do was drop it off and have them take as long as they needed to diagnose and repair. I was told that because I didn't have an appointment that they couldn't take in my car. So then I was told if I bring it in the next day, then they could take me in. I asked if I could just drop it off now. The lady literally said no, she can't take in my car or allow me to drop off. However , if I'm bringing it in the next day then I could and no appointment was needed. This didn't make any sense to me. I left. Turned around and went to a different pep boys. Wow! Absolutely amazing! And not in a good way. The customer service at this location is absolutely horrific! These employees, I use that term loosely, were more worried about the WiFi connection being bad in the store than the 6 patrons in line. I dropped off a fleet car to be serviced, should be quick and easy, however, it was anything but. I'm really not sure how or why they are still in business. I do a lot of driving to the tune of 50,000 miles a year and with all the car-care places I have been to, the service at this location is hands down the worst I have ever experienced. I am in fact, driving an extra 10 minutes to go somewhere else to get my vehicle serviced. When a representative tells you, "the part is ordered and it will be in tomorrow. And, we will give you a call." And that call never comes, you might chalk that up as a fluke event. This happened three times over a span of 5 days. Additionally, one mechanic broke a piece of trim on my vehicle and tried to hide it. He didn't say anything so I was inconvenienced to the point of having to go there directly and start asking questions. The technician claims the part was already broken when he did the work in the exact same area. If that is the case, why didn't he bring it to someone's attention? I think we all know the answer to that question. I have experienced smoke screen after smoke screen with this location. Do not go here. Drive a little further and save yourself some heartache. I can only hope that somewhere in upper management, someone reads this review and takes the appropriate action. This location is NOT worth it. Don't go to Pep Boys - they will over charge you for parts and give you unnecessary diagnostics that aren't needed. They were charging me $129 for a knock sensor when the part was only $72 in their online store. I called a different Pep Boys than where I was taking it for repair and the guy on the phone told me they had that part in their Clovis store (where I was getting it fixed) for $72. I then asked him why I was being charged $129 for it - he said he had no idea. They ended up price matching it at the Auto Zone store for $79 after much bickering on my part. I looked up the internet and found out Pep Boys is being sued all over the place for up marking the store price - DO NOT TRUST THEM! read more

It took two days to do the oil change and the cooling system check and never fixed the break lights. If they are too busy to do the work, don't make appointments with cars you can't get to. As I write this at 10:50 am my vehicle is still untouched where I parked it an hour ago. Another customer came in after me for a smog who also had an appointment at 10. I ordered a battery online with a 25% discount to the in-store pricing. When I got there the person was nice and explained to me that since they are remodeling they are not getting shipments. Understand this but Pep Boys corporate should not offer these discounted prices. Guy that worked apologized and I didn't push it but it was a 60 dollar disappointment and fault of corporate. The part selection is good, however beware of the up-charges from services. If you have a specific repair. They'll hit you with estimation to do more than what is needed. Has asked to do a cooling check, which listed for 34.00. They hit me with a 89.00 diagnostic fee. Quoted my wife 1300.00 for a repair of radiator. After review of their quote. They had lumped in air filters,oil changes, shocks,gas filter. When talking to service planning. He never mentioned all the ancillary items lumped into quote. We took it to another shop. Did repair for 375.00. Also double checked them with my mechanic. Which gave me something to double check against. Too bad. Used to be a good shop. Looks like pep boys is up to ol tricks.
