During colonial times from the early 16th century through the mid-19th century, the music of Mexico's indigenous nations were influenced by the musical styles of Spanish colonists and the African slave population to form the music now called Mariachi. After the end of the Mexican revolution in the 1920's, the government began promoting Mexican folk music as a source of national pride. It is around this time that the Mariachi costumes became elaborate taking inspiration from Jalisco charros, Mexican ranchers and cowboys. By the middle of the 20th century, mariachi music had made its way into US culture, first in California, then throughout the southwest, and eventually throughout the nation. Mariachi has now become one of the most recognizable Latin music types. Carrying the Mariachi torch in South Florida is the Mariachi Show Mexicanisimo. This musical group can be hired to perform at your private events including birthdays, weddings, and other celebrations. I was able to watch them perform at a friends milestone birthday celebration. The singers had great harmony and they can sing in both Spanish and English. They offer 30 and 50 minute performances. This group was very professional and their music and vocals was enjoyed by everyone at the party. Mariachi Show Mexicanisimo is a beautiful representation of Mexican culture.

I love this huge bright theater in Ft. Lauderdale, built in 1991. I have been here before for "A…read moreGentleman's Guide to Murder" and thoroughly enjoyed it. This day we saw a super fun magician I knew from a Netflix series. It worked well here! Last time we did the VIP tickets and met some cool local patrons in the VIP lounge where they give you complimentary snacks & discounted drinks. It's a nice perk to support the local arts! Parking is easy and reasonable enough. The area itself is a bit depressed, but seems safe enough. Ushers are friendly and helpful, elevator and bar service have fun offerings and bathrooms are fine. If you find yourself in the area, Don't sleep on viewing your favorite shows here. Check it out when in the area. Happy summer yelping in 2026! ~Tami in Miami

You know you're walking into a real theater when the building itself makes you slow down for a…read moresecond and say, "Alright... this is going to be a night." Not a strip mall stage wedged between a nail salon and a frozen yogurt shop. A real theater. The kind that feels like it was built for big voices, bright lights, and the occasional crowd singing along a little too loudly after a couple of pre-show drinks. That's the first thing you notice about the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Sitting right along the river in downtown Fort Lauderdale, the place just looks like it belongs there. Modern lines, big glass, clean design. But at the same time it still carries the charm and warmth you expect from a classic theater. It feels like a venue that was designed for nights out. Once inside, the layout works well. Sightlines are excellent. Whether you're down low or up in the higher seats, the stage is easy to see and you never feel like you're watching from a bad angle. But here's the one thing that caught us by surprise. The sound system struggles a bit when you get up into the higher seats. The speakers just don't quite reach that far with the same clarity, so the sound can come across a little muffled. Here's the pro tip. If you're sitting high, save the money and go cheaper on the ticket because the sound quality up there probably won't match what you'd expect from a premium seat anyway. The parking situation has actually improved. Getting in is easier now that they switched to the pay by plate app system. You drive in, park, handle the payment on your phone and head to the show. Simple. Leaving, however, is another story. Getting out of the parking lot after a show can feel like a bit of an adventure. This is where patience becomes part of the evening's entertainment. Give yourself time and don't expect a quick exit. We saw Darius Rucker last night, and even with the sound challenges in the higher seats, it was still a really fun night. Good music, a great crowd, and the kind of energy that makes live shows worth it every time. Here's the move if you're coming here. Go early. Grab dinner or drinks somewhere nearby. Walk over without rushing and enjoy the atmosphere around the theater. And when the show ends, don't fight the traffic. Take your time and let the crowd thin out. Do it that way and the Broward Center becomes exactly what it should be. An outstanding way to spend a Saturday night.

I'd recommend Kevin if you want some live music in a relaxed atmosphere with someone you feel is an old friend you haven't seen in a while.

We were all just so wowed by him so I couldn't help but ask him for his business card on my way out. About 2 years later, I got engaged and one of the first things I had to do was fish for that business card. I immediately contacted Kevin, even before I started looking at venues. The moment we had our date set, I e-mailed him right away to make sure he doesn't fill up that day! Kevin has such a wide selection of music. I loved how incredibly versatile he was and his voice is so warm and inviting. We hired him to play when the guests starts arriving, the processional, and our cocktail hour. I sent him our music selection about 1-2 month before and a lot of them he did need to learn. But I love how he wasn't pushy in any way to make us pick from his selection of music. He was more concerned that we get the music selection we want and he learned them all for our wedding. I can't stop getting rave reviews from our guests on how amazing Kevin did. I can't stop raving either about how awesome he is. His rendition of the songs we picked turned out so beautifully, I had tears coming down before I even began walking. Our guests had so much fun interacting with him during cocktail hour. My mother in law was so excited to have him play Piano Man and I really think that's a great signature song for him cause he blew my mind when I first watched it on YouTube. Everyone loved how versatile he is and it makes it really enjoyable for all ages. I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you hire Kevin for any gigs. His mannerism is so calm and welcoming. He responds to all correspondence very quickly. He's got such a fun and spunky personality. He's incredibly professional. And insanely personable and just down to earth. If you don't hire him, YOU'RE A FOOL!!! =) Kevin was the little surprise I had for our guests to wow everyone. And he didn't fail me. He was the perfect cherry on top to our wedding!!!
