The Alabama Shakes crowd is a chill one, so a lot of people had blankets and were sitting on the outdoor lawn. We got a nice standing spot up front and caught a vibe all night. It was a bit overwhelming, but once inside, it was worth it. Guests were allowed to bring chairs and blankets, so we were able to settle in comfortably with friends and enjoy a great spot for the show. The band was absolutely fabulous, delivering all the Billy Joel favorites and creating a fantastic atmosphere. With such a massive crowd, it felt like a record-breaking turnout. We even spotted Billy Joel's wife and two young children in attendance, which had us wondering if Billy himself might make a surprise appearance. Maybe next time! Food and beverage vendors were available throughout the venue, although I didn't notice many healthy food options. Boca Raton's new mayor, Andy Thomson, spoke briefly before the concert began. Most of all, I'm grateful that Boca offers a venue like this and the opportunity to enjoy outstanding live music outdoors for free. It's truly a community treasure, and I encourage everyone to take advantage of this beautiful space and the wonderful events it hosts. It did get a bit more muggy as the evening went on but it was tolerable for sure!

This is like the Rolex Store on Rodeo Drive in the Beverly Hills of South Florida (of performance…read morevenues). It is the best small theatre space in all of the tri-county area. It has intimate seating, is immaculately clean, easy free parking, or valet, elevators for older patrons, nice bathroom facilities, hi-tech sound and audio equipment for a smaller space, the lighting sets that I witnessed, which I know nothing about in technical terms, were up during a production of my daughter's summer musical were artistically so far beyond what I have seen at adult regional theatre. This blew my mind! I felt like Judy Garland was going to pop out at any moment! The show that the group put on in that space, all with amateur kids, was beyond my wildest expectations. They made a play that was $12 that I would have paid to see on Broadway for $80 and still felt it was worth it, both because of the space and how well the kids were received by the audience, cracking up with laughter and crying during the emotional scenes. There is great food all around the area of the Arts Center here, free garage parking, paid metered street spots, an even valet at a downstairs Jazz club in the same building. Best area of Boca for culture and stuff to do. This kids drama troupe was phenomenal, and the space was more than I had expected. The friends that I dragged along to see my kids perform were expecting a auditorium stage like in a cafeteria with a performance by kids that was unbearable, and they left leaving stunned and thrilled with what they thought would be a waste of a night but wound up being better than an actual Broadway NY night now! That was an actual comment that I heard! Unbelieveable. They (the Arts Center, not the kids theater) did a great job turning this downtown building over into a multi-performance, restaurant, club, and office space from what occupied it before, the Cartoon Museum. If you ever have a chance to see a show here, especially if it is a kids show with that summer group, take advantage, and get in some much needed cultural arts into your life for a good price and a great night out! Take my advice. This place is a gem in a largely culturally-void world of South Florida, especially Boca. It was easy to buy tickets, easy to take wheelchair-bound people to, and easy to see a musical theatre show with intermission there. Tremendous experience at this venue!

I read "World Performance Arts Center" and thought it seemed a bit presumptuous for what I figured would be a small college theater. It is actually "Wold" in honor of the major donors haha, my bad. The theater is not small at 750 seats. The venue still looks new inside and out, and it is almost 20 years old. The lobby is amazingly airy and spacious with a reception area and stunning contemporary chandeliers. The theater itself is modern, with warm woods and bathed in red...red curtains and seats. It is a beautiful performance arrangement with good sightlines and excellent acoustics, with fine sound system (based on the mics the actors wore, I could hear almost every word). No wonder it was selected for the final televised 2012 US Presidential Debate between Obama and Romney. Rest rooms are huge and clean. One minor note is the box office can be slow to purchase tickets and there could be wait. In this day and age, when purchasing with a credit card, why do they need to manually type in billing address, etc.? Update the system so the ticket buyer only has to insert the card and be on their way.

There's no attendant at the front, so you head to the concession counter for your movie snacks and to have your tickets scanned. We sat in the back row, which does not have the in-seat ordering service. Also worth noting--those seats do not recline. You'll need to upgrade to the Lux if you want the reclining seats. The screen was crisp, the sound system was great, and the theater itself was really comfortable. What impressed me even more was seeing attendants waiting to clean the theater as soon as the movie ended. That seems to be few and far between nowadays! The women's restroom was also very clean--my last restroom experience at another fairly new theater was basically a horror movie of its own. Parking can be a little bit of a walk since the shopping center gets busy, so you may end up a few aisles away, but everything is still very walkable and it really wasn't a big deal. I live in Lake Worth, and after some not-so-great experiences at theaters closer to home, I would absolutely make the drive back to Deerfield Beach to enjoy a clean, comfortable theater again. Definitely recommend!

The new owners did an excellent job transforming the entire theatre--brand-new seats, screens, flooring, concessions, you name it. The upgrade feels total and intentional. The recliners are an absolute dream. They lay back into a full, almost horizontal position, and the option to heat your seat was a game changer for my sciatica and sciatica-related discomfort. That feature alone deserves applause. There are three seating tiers: Standard, Lux, and Dine-In. We chose the dine-in love seat to make the most of the 3.5-hour Avatar movie. The privacy panels around the seats made the experience feel cozy and surprisingly intimate--like watching a movie from your own living room, but better. We ordered mozzarella sticks, a hot dog, and popcorn. Yes, it's theatre food, but it was all fresh, tasty, and honestly better than most. Totally worth it. Now for the one disappointment--the cocktails. I ordered their "popular" Malibu rum mix and what arrived was straight juice. No rum. No hint of rum. My husband confirmed it wasn't just me--pure juice. On top of that, the bartender was slow; the drink didn't come out until we were halfway through eating. My advice: stick to beer or wine, and place drink orders separately from food. Even so, we had an amazing time. The movie quality was IMAX 3D, and it was flawless from start to finish--crisp, immersive, and top-notch. Overall, this theatre has leveled up in a big way. Comfortable, clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed. We'll absolutely be back and will 100% choose the same dine-in love seat recliners again. Highly recommend--just skip the cocktails!
