Well the Boca Black box, a small and intimate venue on Glades Road in Boca Raton is a hidden gem to say the least. The Black Box hosts some of the greatest country, 60's, 70's and 80's cover bands! Many are national acts that find their way to this wonderful little venue and light the place up. The owner, Randy is warm and inviting. I believe he did some standup comedy in his younger days, as he does a few minutes of comedy in the stage before each show. The venue seats only about 280 people. There is regular auditorium type seating and my favorite, personal tables along the perimeter that seat up to 8 people each. The ticket prices are very good and well worth it! The service is excellent and you are never left without a cocktail before and during the show. The waitresses are always walking around checking on everyone. They are friendly and friendly warm. Randy must be doing something right as I have been going to shows there for 3 years and the wait staff never changes. I know most of them personally now and always receive a warm welcome. There is noIt much in the way of food there, so enjoy a nice dinner before or after the show at one of the many restaurants located right near the venue. Give it a try! We finally got a chance to check out the theater in Mizner, The Studio. I think its fairly new…read more I had put myself on their mailing list maybe a year ago so I had been keeping up with who was coming and taking the stage. Its not on the main standup circuit so it doesn't get some of the newer acts, but the other day I saw a couple of the newer acts making some noise lately taking the stage back to back. I reached out to a couple friends and we planned to make a night of it. It's right in the thick of the restaurants and bars of Mizner, so it was easy to have a bite and a drink and head over. The space is has multiple different rooms so that they can have multiple event at a time in different areas. It makes the common area feel like a office building somewhat. The venue we were pointed to was fine. Again, its for multiple type sof shows so it wasn't a "warm" comedy room which hurt the comedy a little. The first guy wasn't much, but the headliner had something. Her jokes were fine, her timing was solid. There isn't more than a couple venues up this way so we were glad to find out this one is fine.

I read "World Performance Arts Center" and thought it seemed a bit presumptuous for what I figured would be a small college theater. It is actually "Wold" in honor of the major donors haha, my bad. The theater is not small at 750 seats. The venue still looks new inside and out, and it is almost 20 years old. The lobby is amazingly airy and spacious with a reception area and stunning contemporary chandeliers. The theater itself is modern, with warm woods and bathed in red...red curtains and seats. It is a beautiful performance arrangement with good sightlines and excellent acoustics, with fine sound system (based on the mics the actors wore, I could hear almost every word). No wonder it was selected for the final televised 2012 US Presidential Debate between Obama and Romney. Rest rooms are huge and clean. One minor note is the box office can be slow to purchase tickets and there could be wait. In this day and age, when purchasing with a credit card, why do they need to manually type in billing address, etc.? Update the system so the ticket buyer only has to insert the card and be on their way.

Students from FAU performed for a good size audience and the event encouraged people to dance right in front of the stage, making the evening very fun and lively. It's located "on the hill" near the visual arts center and the Arts Complex. As you walk in there is a desk for tickets, will call or information. We got our tickets online, so we just showed our QR code at the entrance of the auditorium and got seated. It's a large size theater venue with great acoustics and comfortable seating. We parked for free in Parking Garage 2, which is only a block away.

My daughter has been at Showtime for 2 years now and it has been life changing. My daughter was…read morenever been a shy child, I new very young that she would be a performer and Showtime has given her the most amazing platform to do that. My daughter started out in the Thursday program, where they do 12 weeks of rehearsal and then one show at the end. She did that for an entire year and it was amazing to watch her grow. This past year she did the older, more advanced class called Main Stage where she performs for the public every Saturday for 6 weeks. My daughter pretty much lives for these shows. She loves it so much! As a parent, it blows my mind to see what Showtime can do with these kids in such a short period of time. The professionalism and the quality of the shows is amazing. We love all the teachers and the owner Marilyn. Everyone is so supportive and it feels like one big family. This past weekend I saw their Main Stage Performance of In The Heights. This performance was mainly adults, so my daughter did not try out for this show. But omg let me tell you, it was SO good! I am a theater junkie. I see every show that comes to the Broward Center. In fact, I just saw Jersey Boys this past week and there was more talent on the Showtime Stage on Saturday then there was in Jersey Boys! It is truly amazing what Showtime can do with a small stage and pure talent. I felt like we were off Broadway, not sitting in Boca Raton! If your looking for a great place to help your child shine or a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon seeing a show, Showtime is the place!

My friend''s daughter, Dana was in the show as she is a comedianne. There were other comediennes in the show and I enjoyed the evening. We saw a few people leave because this one lady saved so many seats. We told the manager then they asked US to move to accommodate someone's else and then made a joke that "yeah you got to sit by people here" no joke lady. Also not a lot of leg room but you could purchase seats on the stage if you buy them early enough and you don't mind being ragged by the comic. They have drinks and it's not required that you have a minimum number. The entertainment was 4.5 stars. I like that they raise money for charity.
