I read "World Performance Arts Center" and thought it seemed a bit presumptuous for what I figured would be a small college theater. It is actually "Wold" in honor of the major donors haha, my bad. The theater is not small at 750 seats. The venue still looks new inside and out, and it is almost 20 years old. The lobby is amazingly airy and spacious with a reception area and stunning contemporary chandeliers. The theater itself is modern, with warm woods and bathed in red...red curtains and seats. It is a beautiful performance arrangement with good sightlines and excellent acoustics, with fine sound system (based on the mics the actors wore, I could hear almost every word). No wonder it was selected for the final televised 2012 US Presidential Debate between Obama and Romney. Rest rooms are huge and clean. One minor note is the box office can be slow to purchase tickets and there could be wait. In this day and age, when purchasing with a credit card, why do they need to manually type in billing address, etc.? Update the system so the ticket buyer only has to insert the card and be on their way.

Once we entered the theater I was overwhelmed by the smell of buttery popcorn. Wine, chocolates & snacks are also for sale. I enjoyed "Ethan Bloom" the independent film presented at the Movies of Delray. For $8 I had a fabulous evening here. This sweet coming of age film had an All-Star cast that was both funny and profound. The film touched on themes of grief, spiritual identity, first love & belief that faith and love can transcend religious differences. I enjoyed the background information presented by the director & producer Herschel Faber. Afterwards he answered many questions from the audience. I used to enjoy film clubs & events in my NYC independent theater; the Movies of Delray are truly a gem here!

It definitely brought back some camp memories! The movie theater is no-frills, so don't expect anything fancy--just sit back, enjoy the flick, and have fun. It has intimate seating, is immaculately clean, easy free parking, or valet, elevators for older patrons, nice bathroom facilities, hi-tech sound and audio equipment for a smaller space, the lighting sets that I witnessed, which I know nothing about in technical terms, were up during a production of my daughter's summer musical were artistically so far beyond what I have seen at adult regional theatre. This blew my mind! I felt like Judy Garland was going to pop out at any moment! The show that the group put on in that space, all with amateur kids, was beyond my wildest expectations. They made a play that was $12 that I would have paid to see on Broadway for $80 and still felt it was worth it, both because of the space and how well the kids were received by the audience, cracking up with laughter and crying during the emotional scenes. There is great food all around the area of the Arts Center here, free garage parking, paid metered street spots, an even valet at a downstairs Jazz club in the same building. Best area of Boca for culture and stuff to do. This kids drama troupe was phenomenal, and the space was more than I had expected. The friends that I dragged along to see my kids perform were expecting a auditorium stage like in a cafeteria with a performance by kids that was unbearable, and they left leaving stunned and thrilled with what they thought would be a waste of a night but wound up being better than an actual Broadway NY night now! That was an actual comment that I heard! Unbelieveable. They (the Arts Center, not the kids theater) did a great job turning this downtown building over into a multi-performance, restaurant, club, and office space from what occupied it before, the Cartoon Museum. If you ever have a chance to see a show here, especially if it is a kids show with that summer group, take advantage, and get in some much needed cultural arts into your life for a good price and a great night out! Take my advice. This place is a gem in a largely culturally-void world of South Florida, especially Boca. It was easy to buy tickets, easy to take wheelchair-bound people to, and easy to see a musical theatre show with intermission there. Tremendous experience at this venue!

I was here this past Sunday for a student dance recital. Shows at 12 pm and 4:30 pm. Staff was organized and event was a hit. Amazing dance performances from the Academy of Arts recital featuring Icons dance showcase. This is a yearly dance recital and a full on production with amazing costumes and choreography. This venue is available for private events rentals, concerts , comedy, meetings and cultural celebrations. This is the most active entertainment spot in Coral Springs.

The screen was crisp, the sound system was great, and the theater itself was really comfortable. What impressed me even more was seeing attendants waiting to clean the theater as soon as the movie ended. That seems to be few and far between nowadays! The women's restroom was also very clean--my last restroom experience at another fairly new theater was basically a horror movie of its own. Parking can be a little bit of a walk since the shopping center gets busy, so you may end up a few aisles away, but everything is still very walkable and it really wasn't a big deal. I live in Lake Worth, and after some not-so-great experiences at theaters closer to home, I would absolutely make the drive back to Deerfield Beach to enjoy a clean, comfortable theater again. The Alabama Shakes crowd is a chill one, so a lot of people had blankets and were sitting on the outdoor lawn. We got a nice standing spot up front and caught a vibe all night. Some people brought lawn chairs but it seems like the venue has different dates or events where lawn chairs or acceptable or not, this was not that night. Parking is not too far away so they put them back and came back with blankets to sit on. There are a variety of food and beverage vendors. Pizza, sandwiches, hot dogs, empanadas, fries, cocktails, beer, lemonade, water-- there is something for everyone here.

There is no formal seating it's all lawn seating. Nice Amphitheater with a view of a lake and they have restrooms. There are food vendors so there's plenty to eat. And there is plenty of free parking which is a bonus these days since most venues charge $ 20 plus to park

Argggh! It's always a good time when the pirates and mermaids get together to throw a party. This…read morewas the 8th annual Haunted Pirate Fest and Mermaid Splash. The event is free, just bring your pieces of eight for food and shopping. Free parking can be found in the field on Federal Hwy across from the event. There is nonstop entertainment in the form of singers, magicians, story tellers, and aerialists. You can buy food from the event vendors or at one of the restaurants lining the street. There is an entire pirate encampment where you can learn what life was like when swashbucklers ruled the seas. There is a ton of activities for kids including a pirate ship they play on and bounce houses. While the kiddies are having fun adults can sip on the kind of beverages Jack Sparrow likes. Don't forget the mermaids. You don't think they are real? Well you can find them here in their grotto and have your picture taken with them and watch as they splash in their pool. There is so much going on at this festival that there is some form of entertainment happening every minute. There isn't shade or seats unless you are eating so be prepared for the heat and to walk a lot. I really love this festival. It is like a Renaissance festival but with pirates and mermaids. The costumes people wear to attend are so elaborate and fun to see. There is so much to experience and best all, unlike a lot of the festivals around here, admission is free!

The food area was pretty much all grouped together as was the vendor space was in two distinct areas. It was wild to see so many "characters" walking around in full costume. The weather was scorching but there were plenty of places to get adult and nonadult beverages. I wad also impressed by how safe I felt at the festival. Planty of uniform BB officers as well as safe parking and safe road closures. Uber I by far the best option. The music stages were great too. I cannot wait until next year to return!
