I met him in Northridge hospital ER exactly a year ago when he took care of my elderly mother, admitted with a recurrent upper GI hemorrhage. She had been scoped before, and no source of bleeding had been identified. We had almost lost hope in obtaining a valid diagnosis let alone stopping the bleeding. Providers had given up on my suffering mother and were treating her like a hypochondriac... Then came that young yet fearless Dr. Naim. He acted like the person in charge. He is not someone who will accept missing a diagnosis, and this is a trait so rare nowadays. He studied my mother's extensive imaging history. He also called me and explained elaborately his assessment and plan to me. He is a natural teacher. He scoped my mother and found a 3-mm gastric ulcer that he clipped, and we never saw a trace of that again. So thankful for Dr. Naim's care of my mother who soon later passed away for an unrelated reason. Physicians need to remember that how they treat a patient may be the last act of mercy or battery in the patient's life, and one of the last memories the patient's survivors are left with.
