9/19/25 I paid for a tummy tuck & vaser lipo consult with Dr. Motakef. To my surprise, he is much younger in appearance than his photo online. Do not let this fool you, he has many years of experience. Kelsie was also present during my in-person consult which I appreciated. Dr. M was professional , realistic and also provided great feedback of how to reduce surgical risks and complications. BMI needs to be under 30, ideally. We then discussed using GLP-1 products to get my weight down. The more I lose, the better. He stressed the importance on safest patient outcomes and achieving the desired look the first time around. He has seen many people come in thinking they are going to look one way after surgery, however, it is not a realistic expectation. He tries to explain through this with each consult to prevent any unrealistic expectations post surgery. I had two particular questions about 1) can other procedures be done with a tummy tuck and 2) why do some women still have a pouch like appearance after a tummy tuck. He patiently and thoroughly explained the difference between subQ fat and visceral fat, and the areas near major organs that he would not be able to lipo due to safety considerations. This is the reason why it is important to get the BMI below 30 so I do not have to do a re-do in the future. The quote I received was higher than 2 other consults I had but it is definitely a more well rounded approach to address mid trunk problem areas. DR. MOTAKEF POTENTIALLY SAVED MY LIFE. Long story short, I originally went in for a lift. While in surgery, Dr. Motakef saw something odd and made a call to my husband. He went with a more conservative implant and sent a sample to the lab. The results? An aggressive bacteria that would have sent me to the hospital with sepsis or keto acidosis. DAYS. He treated it aggressively with 2 antibiotics and has been available to all my questions. He has been monitoring me closely and genuinely cares. The work he did is great too! One included a Tummy Tuck w/a Breast Lift, and then six months later, I opted to have a Brachioplasty. I am really disheartened to have to write this review. But I'd like to give people the heads up before they invest their in emotions in time into this surgeon. My journey started years ago in researching and looking for a plastic surgeon. I met Dr. Motakef in April and booked my surgery in July for this October 9. I am a wife and a working mom of two. Since booking my surgery, I have been diligently preparing for the day, postponing memberships, researching and prepping, and ordering supplies. Unfortunately, I had to cancel my surgery After being told at my preop phone appointment that Dr. Motakef is Unwilling to go online for his patients and fill out the physicians portion of SDI paperwork on the EDD website. When I asked why this is the case, Karina, his Medical assistant informed me that SDI is not something that is covered for elective surgery therefore, Dr. Motakef Cannot fill out that paperwork. I sent an image to her of where it states on the EDD website that this is in fact covered, she responded that he still does not want to do it. It is very unfortunate that this plastic surgeon does not care enough about his patients, to take a few minutes to go online and fill out paperwork. SDI is something I pay into as an employee and am entitled to use when needed. Not all of us are stay at home wives or can afford to be off of work without pay. read more
