Just got my braces off few days ago, and I'm completely satisfied with the result. Through out the years of visiting, I felt that dr. Choe really cares about his patients. Every staffs who work there were being so helpful and seemed happy to work there. There was time I was having protruding wire few weeks after I had my braces tightened and I needed to fix it immediately, because of being poked by wire was so annoying. So I called in for help, and they took me in right away and fixed my braces; I was afraid that I had to wait for one or two days. I already recommended Dr. Choe to my cousins and two of them are currently patients here, so yes I would recommend this place to my friends and family. First of all, all Koreans know about this place. Even though it started off in Cerritos, I had friends out in LA and even the valley coming all the way to Cerritos to get braces here. I was very doubtful because I really wanted invisalign since I graduated college and started working. I went in for a free consultation and he gave me his reasons why braces are the better option, but in the end it was still up to me. He was very kind and respectful, but most importantly, the vibe I got from him was that he knew very well about braces, and was very trust worthy. Eventually, I gave up on invisalign, and got braces done. Now that they have an Irvine office, it's brand spanking new and one of the best facilities I've ever been too. A ridiculous facility + outstanding service = the best orthodontics probably in southern california. Dr. Choe is the bomb. Hands down. I got my second set of braces at age 23. Dr. Choe kept on the ball with my treatment, and I had my metal mouth returned back to me, only 100% better, in just 13 months. The office moved to its modern, high-tech location in the middle of my treatment. Towards the end of my treatment, I was signing in with my fingerprint because they have a fingerprint scanner! Dr. Choe was recommended to me by my mother, who had her braces done at age 50. Dr. Choe is just that good, that even my then-50 year old mom went for it. She, of course, heard about Dr. Choe from all of her (then 50ish year old) friends who had also had braces in their later 40s. Dr. Choe is pretty much the orthodontic celebrity around Cerritos and the surrounding cities and for good reason - he knows how to do his job and he's the BEST at it. I had a detestable gap in my front teeth that was screaming to be fixed (lest I continue looking like a junior high kid), so I went in and was wowed by their modern office. They've got a couple of computers with internet access in the waiting room and even got a cool secret-spy-esque finger scanner check-in! After the consultation, Dr. Choe estimated about 10 months. I initially wanted Invisalign since having braces in your mid-20s is a tad embarrassing, but he explained that Invisalign is actually not as effective as they make it out to be. There's only a 40-something percent success rate (which resulted in a lot of legal problems for them), and after some patient technical explanations he convinced me that wire braces were the way to go. I love that he didn't take advantage of an opportunity to make some extra money off of me but recommended what was truly best. As a compromise, he gave me the option of having clear ceramic brackets and gave them to me at a discount after hearing that I was paying out of pocket. Went once every three weeks for a checkup and tightening and each visit was easy breezy and as pleasant as could be despite the painful experience. He speaks perfect English, so I was able to ask questions freely unlike my past experiences where I'd have to get secondhand information from my mom. After 8 months of religious brushing and rubber band-wearing, I was actually able to get them off early and my teeth look great! Several points about payment: I did pay out of pocket and yes, it's possible to manage it. They have a payment plan without interest, and it's due once a month whenever you're ready. They won't remove your braces until the balance is paid for, however, so if you want to get them off early like I did, make sure you're able to do that. It sucks to see that a previous reviewer brought down their ratings for one misunderstanding, but all that information was conveyed to me before I signed on the dotted line. Dr. Choe is a cool guy, very nice. The office is swanky and high-tec. I call it the ortho factory. He has about six chairs going at the same time and he has a staff about 6-8 assistants and 2 receptionists. Most of the assistants are hispanic and they tend to have bleached blonde-ish hair. I don't know what that's about. I tend to come late to many of my appts and they're pretty understanding about it. The only complaint I have are the receptionists. They are not the friendliest bunch you've ever met. Then again, they have to deal with gazillions of patients/phone calls a day. HOWEVER, this is capitalist America. Customer Service Matters. Price-wise: I think it's decent. I don't have insurance so it's out of pocket for me. Work: Pretty good so far. Some of my friends have gotten braces done by Dr. Choe and they still have straight teeth! So I'm guessing he does a good job. read more

I got braces and had them on for a little over a year. The appointments were really easy to schedule. I looked forward to going to the Doctor's office every month. Dr. Choe filed my two from teeth perfectly. I'll be coming to him again when I get jaw surgery (it's preferred to have braces on for jaw surgery) because he is used to seeing people with open bites and recommends a great surgeon. A lot of ortho's I went to didn't understand what was going on with my jaw. Dr. Choe knew right away and I'm so happy I was referred to him by a co-worker. Also, I don't live anywhere near Cerritos and I made a special trip once a month because I really trust dr. Choe and his employees. Staring with the reason I am going to this place in the beginning to have my teeth fix because of cosmetic appearance. First consultation he was very confident told me he can help fix my teeth due to underbite and many of my teeth were not straight. He said it will take 18 months to fix my teeth. I was very happy because I went to many orthodontist before they said my teeth were difficult it may take much long time to fix it. - After I wear the braces for 10 month, he told me my teeth are done now, so we should have your bRaces taken off so he can put the permanent retainer on for me. I was shock!!!! Really!!! I start to complaint to him how my teeth look really over bight and some of my teeth still crooked. My concerns were ignored, before he event consult with me he just go ahead trimmed all 4 of my upper front teeth off. Then he show me that he had fixed the problem by trimmed them inward so it look less overbite. At this were very unhappy about his unprofessional serves. - I felt like talking to the wall, and he always he had 25 yrs experienced. That is the way my teeth should look like, if I want my teeth to look any better, I have to remove 2 to 4 teeth. Just shut me up!!! - After I had the permanent retainers put on my teeth felt worse then wearing the braces. The the retainer was thick and bumpy, also cause my upper front teeth irritate and pains when I bight my teeth down. A week later I had complaints to him and his assistant, they are ignoring my problem by telling me I will tolerate it after time. - The dentist give me the remove able retainer to wear at night. As I required to wear them every night. These retainer cause even more irritating pains. I again complaint and I been told my body will tolerate the pains. I end up with a severe infection of my teeth, my face was swollen badly. - I address the problem to the dentist, he keep dodging my problem and told me that I never complaint to him about these things that cause me pains. Seem like he never hear his client out at all, always try to talk out of the subject and do everything his way, he said: for 25 years of his experience he never seem situation like this. read more

I was a patient here years ago but i really felt the need to say something so no one else has to experience what i did. Don't go here if you value what your face looks like. He will make sure your teeth are straight but does not care if that messes up the symmetry of your face.I was actually told by Mr choe who calls himself an orthodontist I could get surgery AFTER my braces were taken off to align my jaw - my jaw was fine before getting braces with him. When I tried coming back years later to get my before photos (the misalignment of my jaws were giving me headaches and my doctor requested to see them).. Mr choe basically told me its in storage and he won't give me my photos unless I'm suing him. Still disappointed to this day. read more

I'm sad to read the bottom review because I know for a fact that Dr. Choe is one of the most ethical men I have met and not just because he's a deacon at a church. I too had to pay out of pocket because I didn't have any dental insurance, but Dr. Choe gave me a wonderful discount. I just got my braces off yesterday and my teeth are so straight and pretty! I had really ugly, crooked teeth and I had to beg my mom to let me have braces before I left for college. I left for UC Davis last year in the summer and every 6 weeks I had to fly down and get my braces tightened. Understanding the situation, he cut me a deal. I was expected to take my braces off in two years, but I got them off in one year and a half. He is a great ortho overall because he is honest and looking out for you. I went to him about my crossbite because there's a pain won't go away. He suggested jaw surgery for me and now I don't have pain and my bite is better. The surgeon he suggested was great. Also, I asked him about my previous dentist visit when I went for a retainer check up because they said I have two cavities and I needed a crown on a tooth. Choe checked it and told me there's nothing wrong with the tooth but just a cavity and it's only one. read more

I have recently finish my treatment with Dr. Choe and it took exactly 24 months to complete the treatment as I was told in the beginning of the consultation. Dr. Choe is very experienced at what he does and has a chill personality. Even if you go have braces for cosmetic reasons he will make sure that your bite is perfect. The office is always clean and has all the equipment necessary to begin or finish your treatment with no delay. On the last day, I was able to receive my retainers an hour after they had taken a mold of my teeth which worked out great since I didn't have to come back later to pick them up. The receptionists are nice and efficient at what they are supposed to do and there are about four experienced medical assistants who work closely with Dr. Choe and the patients. All my appointments were on time throughout the two year period, I remember only one time I had to wait about 20 minutes to be seen. Also, having to bring my two young children with me to every appointment was stressful for me but Dr. Choe was very understanding about my situation and made me feel comfortable saying that its ok they are loud because the noise blends in with the sound of the electrical tools. Overall, I had a good experience with Dr. Choe and staff, I would recommend his practice to anyone who needs to have their teeth fixed. read more

So I got adult braces (I am 34 years old) and it was my second time. I had braces when I was 12 years old and didn't go to a reputable Orthodontist and I was non compliant with my retainer, so my General dentist told me I would need braces again. I found Dr. Choe on yelp actually and read all the great reviews, so I met him for the consultation. I felt like he was really professional and the staff were really nice so I decided to go with it. A few months into my braces, I was miserable. Not so much pain but it was very uncomfortable to me. I went in his office and asked for them to remove my braces. They were trying to convince me that I was very close to getting used to my braces. I got them removed. I went home and saw my teeth and my bite. As days went by, I could see that my teeth and bite were really bad. I went back in and asked them to put it back on me. The staff and Dr Choe were very understanding and very supportive. I had them put back on and within a month got really used to them. I had no problem and no discomfort for the remainder of the year. I just got them off and couldn't be more happier with the results. My teeth and bite are perfectly straight. I am taking engagement photos soon and I am so excited. Dr Choe and the staff are amazing people. The nicest people you will ever meet that actually really care about the clients. Dr Choe is a perfectionist when it comes to teeth. I was worried that the symmetry of my face would change and it has not. I would recommend this place to anybody young or old like me to get braces asap. This dental office is not ethical at all. Not to mention very unfriendly and unproffesional receptionists who acted like someone took her ability to be able to smile and be curteous. I had to wait about 50 minutes in the dental chair until the dentist came in. Then it got worse. I have dental insurance that pays 100 percent for my orthodontic treatments up to $750.. However, I found out at the reception desk after seeing the dentist, with this office I have to pay 100 percent of the treatment fee upfront including the insurance portion at the begining of a treatment . I was told when the doctor gets paid by the insurance, they will reimburse me. Folks, it's like this. At this office, you have to pay in full 100 percent of your treatment fee regardless of your dental insurance coverage in the begining of your dental visit.. After your dental insurance pays the doctor, then you get your dental insurance portion of your money back excluding your copayment portion. This is not a standard policy in the industry. When you go in there in their fancy looking office, the only indication of any kind of payment policy is little acrylic sign saying "Payment due in full after your visit". And noboody explaines to you about this ambiguous sign until you already started the treatment. what this sign means is that at this office is that you have to pay the full treatment fee including the insurance portion and your copayment portion at the begining of your treatment. When I questioned about this policy to the receptionist, the only thing she told me was, "This is our office policy." She chanted this same sentence to me three times to me, as if I am deaf and can't hear. Well, I have only one thing to say to them. What if when they need an open heart surgery, they are told that they have to pay in full regardless of whatever insurance pays and they will reimburse you when the insurance pays them first. No one will be able to gather that much money to get the surgery done. IT IS UNETHICAL FOR THIS DENTAL OFFICE TO ASSUME a patient as a potential thief who wouldn"t pay for the treatment, so in order to secure them getting paid for their service they have this policy that collects 100 percent of treatment fee including the insurance portion from a patient until the insurance kicks in. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND HORRIFYING OFFICE POICY WHEN IT COMES TO PAYMENT POLICY. read more
