As we walked in, my daughter was greeted by name by the office staff, and checked in. We sat done and were called immediately to go to the back. Cindy was absolutely amazing, her cheerfulness and enthusiasm provided an amazing experience. She gets to know the patients and remembers what is discussed at previous appointments. Dr. Sparks is a great orthodontist. He and his team are kind and thorough. The best thing about him is that he is quite conservative with his recommendations, rather than pushing my kids to get braces early. My son needed two phases and in-between he was supposed to wear a retainer. He ended up breaking his retainer after only a few months of wearing it, and I was quite impressed when Dr. Sparks worked with us to minimize the costs for replacement, and in the end decided that my son would be ok without one. Dr. Sparks also caught (totally incidentally) that my daughter had an abscess, and expeditiously sent us back to her regular dentist for evaluation. I can't say enough about him and wholeheartedly recommend him. read more

I've been coming to Dr. Sparks's office for over 20 years. That's right, even before he was there, and it was Dr. Synder's office. Dr. Sparks is as good as it gets, and that being said, you get the best service with an interpersonal touch. From getting braces twice, to retainers twice, and now servicing my lower permanent retainer for over 8+ years, I really believe in the guy. I've seen him grow from the beginning, and only get better and better. He is courteous, professional, and is busy because of such great service. I recently came in as my lower retainer had finally broken from years of use. Making an appointment was just as easy as it was years ago, and upon arrival I was told up front about any costs. As I sat in the chair I greet Maria, who I remember seeing on her first days here. Now, as much as one could ride the warm waves of nostalgia, Dr. Sparks came in a jiffy and after a quick catch-up session he explained additional options. Respectfully and without any pushy follow-up, I decided for my cost-effective option and the retainer was fixed. The rates were flat and assigned according to the job. There's no negotiation as the service costs what it costs and the parts cost what they cost. Within an hour I was out, and the job was done with virtually no pain or trouble. To be quite frank, this doctor and his staff are very busy and in demand. He goes between this office and one in Long Beach to serve a very demanding area filled with tons of suburban kids and their misaligned fortunes. I've been to other folks over the years as I've moved, but I keep on coming back to him if I ever need any treatment in his scope. I would also note that any complaints are usually minimal, to colors or pain as some don't understand that realigning teeth and sensitivities are not a painless process. From our first consult with Dr. Sparks I knew this was the place for us! From the super friendly staff to the sports memorabilia this place does NOT disappoint! We brought our youngest daughter in with a very unusual case and we're feeling unsure of our potential outcome, but Dr. Sparks did his magic to help us understand the whole process. There were a couple issues I had with my tooth and when I went to a different orthodontist she Immediately figures out a solution.. also he's a nice guy but would be very "hello" all good?" We did not have a good experience here. 1. My child who has never had any cavities before or after orthodontic work at Dr. Sparks, ended up with a root canal during her orthodontic care. 2. As part of the contract, the patient is expected to take their share of appointments during school hours. 3. After the braces came off during the time when my child was in the retainer phase, her retainer broke right before she had to leave out of state to go back to college. Went in to see Dr. Sparks and was told since his technician (the person who fixes the retainers) was not in, she would have to go find someone to fix the retainer. Dr. Sparks/office not willing to fix it when the technician gets back and have me send it to her. The office expected a college student who doesn't have car or time, to go look for a completely new orthodontist!?? 4. He is double the price of what other orthodontist charge. I found this out when my second child was ready for braces and I went to other orthodontics for consultation. Also found an orthodontist who opens early afternoon and most appointments are available AFTER school. I would definitely NOT recommend, as I am taking my second child elsewhere. read more

Dr. Sparks and his staff are really kind and friendly, will greet you with a smile and by name, are professional, accommodating and work hard to provide great service to their patients. My case is a bit more complicated than the average braces patient due to facial and bite asymmetry. I had to undergo double jaw surgery, in which Dr. Sparks referred me to an excellent surgeon. So I can testify to the fact that Dr. and his staff, in collaboration with the surgeon, do quality work and can produce exceptional results! They have always been so helpful to me as well. Contrary to some of the reviews here, I haven't had any problems scheduling appointments with both Cerritos and LB offices, especially since I have a busy schedule with work and school. Also I've had several emergency pokey wires and they've always been there to do a quick fix. I'm a 35 year old woman who is getting braces ( sexy right) well it's been a difficult journey to get to this point. Let me share a little bit... I been to over a dozen different orthodontist in hopes to find one who specializes with cross/ narrow bites in adults ( surgery cases) I experience a lot of headaches caused by my minor TMJ & my bite being off. My PCP Referred me to a oral and maxiofacial surgeon who deal with these case. (But my concern was what Ortho can help me, I seen them ALL) well I was referred to Dr Sparks who has experience with these types of cases (finally) So after meeting with him and his staff I felt like I have hope to regain a beautiful smile. I've chosen to start this journey with them because I've felt so comfortable from the ladies at the front to the ladies in the back. Making the first appointment was easy; however, when I went in for the consultation I was bothered by how unfriendly the lady who gives you the braces quote was. No smile or anything, she seemed bothered. When the Dr. entered the room he didn't introduce himself. He just hurried into the room directly to my daughters mouth and then asked me if I was going to do something about it. The next day I called back and the lady was rude again over the phone when I asked more about the quote. Instead of making sure I understood she sternly repeated her answer. i had the worse customer service from rebeca. i have a 9am appointment for december 16, 2020. when i called to change for a later time. rebeca was extremely unprofessional and stated she could not do anything for me. when i asked to speak to a manager she hands me off to her co worker stating ."they are all equal and have no clinic manager". i was put on hold and then i was transfer to stephanie the other co worker. when i speak to stephanie she also has the same rude and unprofessional attitude as her peer. all i need is my sons wire from his braces to be placed back and they need to make an appointment for him. why? i have never had to make an appointment for my son who constantly struggles from his wire coming loose. the worse customer service ever! read more

I highly recommend Dr Sparks and his staff for orthodontia treatment. Dr Sparks is a very nice guy and is very easy to talk to. He has a lot of experience in his profession and there is probably not a lot he has not seen before. In my case I had some crazy gaps in my teeth and a underbite that's always bothered me. Before treatment I was always too ashamed to smile. However, Dr Sparks and his staff did a brilliant job on my teeth and worked with my surgeon to get the underbite fixed. So I just today got my braces off and I guess I'm done. I am writing this review while my retainer is being made. I'm really going to miss coming here though. Not just because of the snacks and cocoa. When I got back from surgery, I found flowers and card waiting for me at my house. That really made me good. Dr. Sparks is hands down the best orthodontist in the area, his quality of works sets him apart from all the rest. He takes the time to work with every patient and is confident he can give everyone a great smile! My husband and I both were treated by him as adults, my husband had an underbite and crooked bite (very difficult case). If we would have left it he would have broken most of his teeth off by time time he was middle age. He had to have adult jaw surgery (which he was nervous about at first) looking back my husband will tell you he is so glad he did and would do it all again if needed! I LOVE DR SPARKS. As an adult my many orthodontics would help me so he as the 3 dentist and without hesitating he took my case ( all I need was to have my upper pallet extend with surgery and braces) So far so good, I have the pallet ex-pander in now and get braces next week, as an adult this has not been easy that's for sure!!! Dr. Sparks is the best! He takes his time to get to know your needs, listens to concerns and converted me from a scaredy-cat to an adult-braces champ! I was quoted a lot of crazy outrageous prices by other orthodontists, upwards of $30,000 and the need to get implants before beginning ortho work -- and that was by my HMO dentist! Dr. Sparks was able to offer a significantly more reasonable cost that I could afford to pay without taking out a loan, and no implants! The results are truly amazing. Dr. Sparks is a nice man but you can NEVER get an appointment, which ends up postponing your treatment and dragging it out excessively!!!! They say you can get in there if its an emergency but that's not true. My mom is still going there and she started before me if you can imagine that. Her new braces, after the first round, are popping off and cutting up her mouth. She's been cutting her wires off herself so that they don't continue to tear up her mouth. Apparently because she needs more time to redo them she'll have to wait until August. If she didn't already pay I'm sure she would go somewhere else. I would have too. read more

Great environment, but the actual work done on my teeth was not professional. The first time my wire fell out of my bracket was from eating soft broccoli, and from this alone I was slightly annoyed because I had to wait almost two months for a comfort appointment.
