Looking for a new dentist is like pulling teeth. I had a cool dentist in Cerritos but he closed up shop few years ago and I just stopped going to the dentist all together because that's how much I hate looking for a new one. It's such a gamble whenever you go to a new place. Even the ones with good reviews may not click with you because health is a such a personal thing. I was finally forced to find a new dentist because I had such a bad experience recently with my wisdom teeth extraction by an oral surgeon at another office. Some of my nerves got damaged during the extraction which left a numbing/tingling sensation in my lower lip area. I just wanted to get checked out to make sure there aren't any other problems with my teeth or gum because I wasn't able to track down the oral surgeon that worked on my extraction. He closed up shop shortly after my procedure. Sounds kind of shady, right? I chose Dr. Chu based on the positive reviews on Yelp. Although there were other dentists with more positive reviews, Dr. Chu sounded more competent and caring. Actually, that's a lie. I chose her because her office is across the street from Belly Bombz. By the way, don't trust the iphone map. It makes it look like the office is right next to Belly Bombz. I almost went to the wrong place because there is another dental office right next to Belly Bombz. Dr. Chu's office is across the street in the Stater Bros shopping center, just slightly east of Stater Bros. Sign says UR Dental. Other reviews are pretty accurate.. Dr. Chu is gentle and has a very calming voice. Even though she had to break some bad news to me, she did it in a reassuring way so I wouldn't go paranoid. She just has the right tone and personality. But it's not just her personality, she has the brains to go with it as well. She is very analytical, competent, and intuitive. She took her time analyzing my x-ray and shape of my teeth, and explained everything thoroughly. I was very impressed. She probably spent at least half hour just explaining things to me. I don't think I got more than 10 minutes with other dentists. Dr. Chu noticed I was grinding my teeth based on hairline cracks on few of my teeth and missing enamels on top of my bottom teeth. I'm not even sure how she saw those hairline cracks because they are very difficult to see. She's got some sharp eyes. This was my first bad news but she said it's mainly due to stress so I can manage it my controlling my stress level. I know this is much easier said than done so she said the other option is to wear a mouthpiece when I go to sleep at night. I like the fact she pointed out the root of the problem and not forced me to buy the mouthpiece, she just presented it as an option. I think other dentists probably would've recommended getting some fillers or crown for the hairline cracks on my teeth but Dr. Chu thought that might be too excessive at this point. I also had to get deep cleaning done but it wasn't too painful. Dr. Chu did the cleaning herself, not her assistants or other associates. Instead of getting numbed out I just went with numbing gel on my gum and I barely felt a thing. However, I think this is because I had deep cleaning done in the past so my gum may have gotten used to it. On a positive note, Dr. Chu mentioned the bones by my wisdom teeth extraction sites all healed nicely and there weren't any damage to my gum near those area. She even said the numbing/tingling sensation may eventually heal based on sensitivity test and how I'm moving my mouth. Cool deal. I'm pretty impressed with Dr. Chu from my first visit so I will continue going back to her and will recommend her to my wife as well since she also needs to find a new dentist. I was also impressed with Cynthia, the lady at the front desk. I think it's really important to have a good person at the front desk since they are the ones that first come in contact with patients. Just from talking to her on the phone I had a good feeling about this place. She sounded caring and tried her best to get me the earliest Saturday appointment. I was originally scheduled for two Saturdays from the day I called but she moved the schedule around to get me in on the first Saturday. I'm not sure if she has training in dentistry but she sure sounded pretty knowledgeable when I spoke to her on the phone. I almost thought she was the dentist. After every dental visit, I can now go across the street and eat some Belly Bombz.

The dentists have always done great work, and I have no complaints about the quality of the dental treatment itself. My issue is with the billing and front office. In the early months of 2026, I went in for our routine cleaning. I've been bringing my family to this office since 2023, and during that visit I was suddenly told I owed $85 for services dating back to 2023, 2024, and 2025. My question is: why am I just now hearing about this years later? Every time we visit, the front office makes sure payment is collected before we leave. You don't walk out without settling your balance. They told me this balance was discovered during an audit, but that explanation doesn't make much sense when these charges supposedly go back several years. To make matters worse, I now receive frequent calls from their collection company, and the amount isn't even consistent. Sometimes they say I owe $85, and other times it's $87.75. Which amount is actually correct? I typically pay with cash, so it's frustrating to suddenly be told I owe money years after the fact. I don't know whether there was a bookkeeping error or something else happened, but the billing process has been handled very poorly. Being contacted by collections over a balance that was never brought to my attention at the time of service is both frustrating and unprofessional. The dental care deserves praise, but the billing practices have left me questioning whether I can continue bringing my family here. I hope the office improves its accounting and communication so other patients don't experience the same.

They took his x rays and literally said 1 sentence to my husband that 3 crowns were needed and disappeared. He couldn't ask any questions and was pushed to the front where they push cost estimates of about 2.1k cash out of pocket with laughing gas. When I call to complain, the receptionist ask if we could wait 2 wks for another dentist. I said no, so she moved me to wait for 1 wk and said that this dentist was better than Dr. Vu. On top of that the original receptionist said cleaning was provided and my kid did not get that. 2nd receptionist said that cleaning was not. Both of me and my husband did not misheard it the first time. Thats one of the reason why we pick this in the first place. His regular dentist finally came back from vacation and we took our kid there for 2nd opinion. Wowww this place misdiagnosed his teeth. He did not need 3 crowns. 2 crowns will be needed at a later date but the 3rd teeth was misdiagnosed. Dentist never even touch each individual teeth and thought the one with the uv sdf stain was a bad teeth. Sloppy, unprofessional and would have caused my son to lose a perfectly good teeth. Should have known this place was bad as even the address is incorrect on here. Its not East South st guys. Just South st. We let at least 2 ppl know from this dental office to change and it's still not change from here. Smh all around! With care this bad, I should have gotten my money back ughh. Don't waste ur time. The receptionists are warm and friendly. We never wait long to be seen. Consultations are thorough and we always leave with a clear plan for taking care of the little teeth we have growing. For kids, they have televisions on the ceiling. Come on! Where was this when I was a kid?!? My children are always asking when we are installing ceiling TVs at home. Sorry, not happening. The first time when we came here, my daughter was scared and brought her stuffed animal for comfort. The dentist gave the stuffy an "exam" too, just to make her feel more comfortable. Remembering that kindness still hits me in the feels. These professionals clearly work with kids because they enjoy it. My children actually look forward to going to their appointments, and ask when they're scheduled to go back. That awesomeness is worth celebrating and more than worthy of every star I can send their way.

The dentist was incredibly knowledgeable, gentle, and wonderful with my son. The office is clean, beautiful, and welcoming, and the cost was more than reasonable. Staff as a whole was wonderful. Christian at the front desk was fantastic from start to finish. He was friendly, professional, and incredibly organized. He made sure all of our paperwork was completed before our appointment, so I wasn't trying to juggle forms while chasing a 19-month-old toddler around the office. At the end of our visit, he also let me know I could call him anytime if I had questions about insurance or future payments, which I really appreciated. Our dental hygienist, Elizabeth, was amazing with my son. To give you an idea, my toddler literally puckers his lips shut and squirms every time I brush his teeth, so I knew getting him to open his mouth for a stranger wasn't going to be easy. They first tried using the regular chair with the TV, but when that wasn't enough, they had a special bench that allowed me to comfortably hold him in a position where Elizabeth could safely and thoroughly clean his teeth. She was unbelievably patient and had so many little tricks to help keep him calm. Despite all the toddler wiggles, she did an incredible job cleaning his teeth. Dr. Husain was just as wonderful. He was patient, thorough, and took the time to explain exactly what was going on with my son's small cavity. Rather than rushing into treatment, he took a conservative approach and created a thoughtful plan that made sense for such a young child. I never felt pressured, and I really appreciated that he focused on what was best for my son instead of jumping to the most aggressive option. While we were waiting, I noticed Dr. Husain's education and training, and I was genuinely impressed. Seeing that he trained at prestigious institutions like UCLA, USC, and Yale for pediatric dentistry gave me even more confidence that we were in excellent hands. I'll admit, I was skeptical when I saw all the five-star reviews before booking. I thought there was no way a dental office could actually be that good. I'm happy to say I was completely wrong. Every single person we interacted with was kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about making the experience positive for both kids and parents. The office itself is beautiful, modern, and spotless. The waiting room is full of toys, so my son honestly thought we were at an indoor play place instead of a dental office. They even gave him a prize at the end, which made his day. Finding a pediatric dentist you trust isn't easy, but I can confidently say we've found ours. I'm so grateful we found High Five Dental, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dr. Husain and his entire team to any parent looking for exceptional pediatric dental care.
