I haven't been to the dentists in YEARS. Embarrassing, I know. Recently I got a bad infection and my face was swollen, which finally forced me to go to the dentist. I found this place and decided to make a much needed appointment. Calling in was a breeze, I even got to talk to dentist herself. She asked a few questions and said I could come in that same day. So I finally arrive and the office is pretty big and nice! The receptionist was sweet and gave me simple forms to fill out. Finally, it's time to meet the dentist. I'm already so embarrassed because I know my teeth are probably horrific, having not been to the dentist in years. She and her assistant do the consultation and were very polite about it. The dentist didn't make me feel as embarrassed as I thought she would! She referred me to an oral surgeon to get some work done, but after that, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna love coming back here for regular cleanings and all that other good stuff! read more

Literally one of the worst dentistries ever. They kept giving me temporary fillings for cavities for no reason (I used to work at a dental office). The fillings would fall out in a day. I had them give me fillings TWICE and they both fell out in less than 48 hours. The service is horrible; each time I have went, I spend an hour by myself in the chair waiting to be seen. The appointments in total are typically around 2 hours and the dentist all three times only saw me for 15-20 minutes. DO NOT COME HERE. Most of the staff is nice but not really qualified to do anything. the dentist also said an extremely patronizing and racist comment about how i shouldn't eat "fried chicken" after my visit. read more

Mid City Dentistry - Very bad service - General Dentistry Near Me - Cerritos, California

PLEASE READ. I WOULD CAUTION AGAINST GOING TO THIS DENTIST. I had been going to Mid City Dentistry for 2-3 years and had no prior issues. However, recently I encountered mistrust and really bad unprofessional communication. Recently I went for a routine checkup and got X-rays and my teeth cleaned. After the X-rays, I was told by the doctor that I had ONE SMALL cavity on the upper right side. I scheduled an appointment to come in a few days later to get the cavity filled. Since it was a small cavity I opted to not have the numbing shot. The doctor started drilling the tooth and after a while I was in pain so I asked for the numbing shot. I thought that was weird because for smaller cavities people don't normally need to be numbed. Anyways, she finally finishes filling the upper right cavity and says something to me under her mask, which I couldn't comprehend due to all of the suctioning, drilling, and loud noises going on at the same time. She then starts working on one of my bottom right teeth. At this point I'm confused because it was only supposed to be one tooth that needed a filling, but I let her finish and ask her what all she ended up doing today. She explains to me that as she was drilling the cavity on the upper right tooth, she noticed that there was decay in the tooth next to it so she had to add a filling to that tooth as well. I thought this was weird because shouldn't she have been able to see that the other tooth had a cavity/decay on the X-rays they took????? This explains why I was in so much pain and needed to be numbed (because she ended up drilling into 2 teeth which is more than what was expected). She then proceeds to tell me that she worked on the bottom right tooth and fixed a previous filling because it looked "worn out". This is another example of really bad communication. This should've been addressed before she was in my mouth drilling my teeth so I could decide if I wanted her to do that or not. After everything was said and done, I wanted to leave asap because I felt very uncomfortable. As I was leaving, I was told by one of the staff that I needed to come in next week to fill THREE MORE CAVITIES on the left side!! I left angrily. Why would the doctor initially tell me I only had one small cavity, start drilling on multiple teeth, and then tell me I needed to come in next week to fill THREE MORE? Why would she start "fixing" a previous filling without discussing it thoroughly with me beforehand? I decided to go see a different dentist to get a second opinion. I didn't even tell them about my experience at Mid City Dentistry so that they'd give me their unbiased, honest opinion. They took their own X-rays and it turns out I have 0 cavities, so Mid City Dentistry lied about the remaining 3 cavities that needed to be filled. Who knows if I even had 1 cavity to begin with. Moral of the story: if your dentist keeps telling you that you have cavities to be filled - RUN - they are probably lying and committing insurance fraud! Side note: Before all of this happened, I was also told by Mid City Dentistry that I should have a "deep teeth cleaning" done, which requires getting approval from your insurance and then billing them. I looked this up, and it said deep teeth cleaning is ONLY necessary if you have gum disease... which I don't have! BEWARE. Mid City Dentistry is just trying to take your money! read more

A long time ago, my sister had some degeneration and rot in her teeth. We had gone to this dentist at the time and since my family was low income at the time we also had Healthy Families. Im not sure if our insurance had anything to do with how careful the dentist was going to be with the treatment, but it seemed that maybe if we had a premium insurance they might have taken care of it. The practicing dentist did not address the issue and my sister's tooth fell out. An update with my sister was that 3 years following that incident, she went to USC Ostrow School of Dentistry and they gladly took care of her concern in the most thorough way possible. They had performed a root canal and other procedures as well as an implant to replace her missing tooth. [imagine 3 years of being embarrassed about falling teeth.... they were hard for her] Tooth loss is a big concern and unfortunately it does spread to the rest of your mouth. My sister was told by the USC dentists that whoever was our dentist at the time [which was the one practicing at this establishment] was negligent in taking care of the problem. Was just in town and I saw the dentistry and would figure, I would not let them get away with their 5* reviews this time because they did not help my sister at all despite the fact that we were covered. read more

I have been to this office at least 3 times and I feel it has been an adequate amount of visits properly review this office. My first visit, I let them know I was looking for a cleaning, xrays, and a general cost and idea of what dental work needed to get done. I only sat in the waiting area long enough to sign my new patient paperwork and I was right away called in. The wait time was hardly anything! I walked in, the facility looked clean and tidy. The person who took my xrays and pictures of my teeth was informative and answered my questions, she was very personable which is what I liked because I have always been afraid of dental visits. She flossed my teeth and performed a cleaning. Then Dr. Lat walked in and introduced herself. She explained the dental scaling procedure, her method of filling in old fillings, and recommendations as to what I could do to maintain my teeth looking as best as they could. I agreed to return for fillings work. I had old silver fillings that I wanted re-done in white filling material. My old dentist did not fill them correctly. She explained my old dentist never placed a pulp cap prior to filling! No wonder my teeth were sensitive! She completed my fillings in a matter of visits because of my BUSY schedule, I could only come in at 5pm so she accommodated to my work schedule (BONUS!!). One visit I was there until 6:30pm, I felt bad for holding them up but they helped me out because I cannot do it any other day. The other two ladies who often help out are also great, like I said I've always been terrified of the dentist and they always make me feel welcomed and calm. Honestly, I'm grateful I have found this dental office. I am thinking of changing my son's dentist and to mine! I highly recommend them to everyone. read more

My family and I have been coming here since early 2000 (my parents longer) and I would have to say that Dr. Mita and her team do a wonderful job. The staff are so nice and very accommodating. During the procedures I am well informed of the process. Most of the times I came in, Charie and Kay have worked alongside Dr. Mita. I moved to UCIrvine for school between 2011-2014 and started getting dental treatments from the campus. Although my former dentist did a good job, I am happy I'm back here. Overall, clean environment and Dr. Mita really cares about your dental hygiene. I can call in and get an appointment within a week. They even have a small playroom for the kids in the waiting area! Went to this dentist location back in 08. I had extractions, root canals and other work done. Beginning with the extraction, she left pieces of tooth in my mouth still resulting in having to cut back into my gums and remove it. More painful than the actual extractions. My root canals were incomplete as told by another respected dentist. Blocks were left in our mouths for very long periods of time. Thanks Mid City Dentistry, our jaws are all messed up! Not just mine, but my mom's, my elder sister's, and dad's. Dad's dentures were poorly made, broke within the last six months. Meaning, they weren't made properly. Said dentist swears she could've made them so much better and way more comfortable as well. Efficient? Not so much. Have an appointment? Cancel your plans for the next few hours! Over booked with appointments meaning huge wait times. Last I checked this was a dentist, not an amusement park.. Overall, a bust. Stay away from this dental office as they are unprofessional in their practice. My teenagers had complained to me how the staff and dentist were watching videos on their phones during their dental procedures/cleaning. My kids came away feeling their teeth weren't adequately cleaned due to the staff lack of focus on the task at hand, and overall lack of safety. My daughter(14yrs old) stated they nicked her tongue with their tool while the dentist was showing her videos to the dental assistant that's was conducting the cleaning. I've been going to "Tita Mita" since I was a little girl and she is just the most accommodating and welcoming dentist ever. Going to the dentist can always be a daunting experience for anyone, but I always feel so at home when I'm under Tita Mita and Carrie's care. The work environment is nothing less than spotless, the staff treats everyone like family, and the procedures are always so extensive. Even just for a clean-up, you can easily tell that Mita takes really good care of your teeth. As a plus, the location has lots of parking and is right across a Paris Baguette (I grab a treat and wait about an hour after a cleaning of course). I would recommend to anyone!! Old fillings and old crowns have been giving me trouble but I delayed it because of the cost. My co-worker referred me to Mid City Dentistry and first impression is positive. Unlike previous dentists, Dr. Cristina Lat didn't pressure me to do all these expensive services. I was told by her that treating my irritated bleeding gum is the priority. Some laser zapping was used to kill the bad bacteria deep in my gums & made a big difference on the following days. No more pain and red spots. I moved from Valley to cerritos last year and happen to visit this clinic for my younger son , when we had seen Alvin he developed infection in his tooth and Dr Lat treated the infection and then begin with cleaning . Alvin had pain over weekend and it was christmas time , Dr Lat /staff helped us with faxing prespription for the next two days so Alvin can be seen on Monday . She not only helped my son in an emergencybut also took a good care . I also like the service of all her staff they are always friendly and help us with setting up appointment and great follow up reminders so you don't miss . I've been to this office a few times and while I really like all the staff and dentist, my experience has not been too great. My first visit, they took an almost an hour after my appt time to even call me back to a room, then it took another 30 minutes before someone start my X-rays and exam. I figured since it was a Saturday I would let it slide and scheduled a follow up visit for a deep clean. This appointment was the same experience. Waiting for a while in the waiting room and then waiting just to be seen. But again I came on a Saturday so I figured it would be busy. The next appointment (for the other side of my mouth for a deep clean) I was also supposed to get two fillings done, but after my cleaning the dentist informed me that one of their assistants was in the hospital getting heart surgery and they were a little understaffed. She asked if I minded coming in the following week to get the fillings, I said I didn't mind, and she told me to get there earlier than my appointment at 7 am and she would bring me back quickly and get it out of the way. When I showed up at 6:40 on a Saturday morning(today), no one was at the office, so I sat and waited until 7 when the office was supposed to open and still no one showed up. I waited 15 more minutes for anyone to arrive at the office and no one did. So in total I waited over 30 minutes before I decided, no one was coming and I should go home and try to go back to sleep. I think the staff is super nice and friendly at this location, but there is a careless disregard for their patients time. I understand that Saturday's are a busier time since a lot of people can't make it during the week, but I have made an effort to always show up on time and I don't cause a fuss when things aren't done immediately. Once i get these fillings done (if I ever get them done) I will look elsewhere for a dentist. read more

I went to Dr. Lat because it is near work and home. The office is clean and kept up, BUT, her work is less than satisfactory. I have had to get retreatment work done at a different Specialist office because her work was so poor. Not only is the retreatment more costly, but it is double the pain. The dentist I currently go to tells me that Mid City Dentistry performs poor work. I would definitely think twice about this place. They play music in there like it is a club and they make you wait for everything. This place may be great for kids, but the dentist does not know what is going on with the Adults! read more
