I saw Dr. Lew as an emergency patient for a split tooth. She and her team were wonderfully knowledgeable and caring. She made sure to do a thorough exam of my oral hygiene and other factors, to ensure the swiftest healing post-extraction. The extraction went great and the area has healed beautifully! I'm happy I was offered and chose to do a bone graft, allowing me the option of an implant down the road, should I choose. Knowledgeable, caring, and helpful as I presented my split painful tooth- in an emergency . Before taking out the unsalvageable molar, she made sure to check to my oral hygiene to be sure I would heal to the best of my ability. She did a great job carefully extracting the roots. Thus, the grafted area has healed beautifully with enough bone to place an implant. With all this attention to details, she encourages our own body to make more bone, as possible. Dr. Lew is one of the most caring, trustworthy, and intelligent doctors I have ever met. I came in for a consultation to extract my wisdom teeth. She thoroughly explained the process of wisdom teeth extraction and also shared her expert opinion on my current situation. She was very honest and said I am a bit past the ideal age to remove my wisdom teeth which could lead to complications such as nerve injury/damage. Any other dentist would be pushing to have them removed right away to make money but not Dr. Lew! Let's be honest, a lot of dentists are untrustworthy but that is not the case with Dr. Lew What I appreciated the most about Dr. Lew is that she found an infection on a DIFFERENT tooth that previously had root canal treatment. Then she gave me two excellent referrals for a specialist. Even though this isn't her forte, she was still extremely knowledgeable and explained the importance of getting the infections treated right away. At the end of the visit, she sent me home with a mouth rinse that should help with further decay of my wisdom teeth until I get the more urgent infections taken care of. She also gave me a USB with all my CBCT x-rays on it so I don't have to retake anymore x-rays. I'm very paranoid about radiation exposure so this was perfect. I've been in the dental field for many years, and have been very fortunate to work with/for top notch dentists. Fast forward to my 12y.o. needing extensive treatment to expose all 2nd molars (total of 4 unerupted), and removal of 2 lower wisdom teeth, there was no question that Dr. Lew would be the oral surgeon to treat her. As a reputable OS who always upheld high quality standards, Dr. Lew's emphasis on the correlation between oral & systemic health is one that I strongly believe & promote as a RDH (alongside the dentists I work with). Not only is she thorough, detailed in her assessments and treatment planning, but she is readily available for any questions and/concerns (as well as her staff). She leads by example, and that is reflective through her staff. Aside from her extensive dental/medical background, she is straight forward, and has always been down to earth. I can't say enough about her. She treats the whole person not just the mouth. I got my wisdom teeth taken out here when I was 16. Then I got assisted my lip taken out when I was 22. Now I'm 28 and my mom Just got a full bone graft done and teeth pulled and Dr Lew found an artery clogged in her neck and refused to operate until that was addressed and checked out. My mom's own neurologist at Kaiser didn't even find an artery issue but Dr Lew did! She got two other quotes from dentists and they didn't care. They just wanted the money for the cosmetic implants. They didn't even mention the carotid artery being clogged in the scans. They looked at the same scans that Dr Lew did she's amazing and even told me about books to read to help my mom's overall health and her recovery and better her all around from diabetes to kidney disease to heart attacks. I'd originally scheduled a consultation, but due to increasing pain and discomfort, called to request an emergency appointment. The gal who helped me set the appointment up was very polite and put me at ease that they would be able to help me. A week and a half ago I went to Cerritos Smiles because of a tooth ache and discovered that I had 4 impacted wisdom teeth and was going to remove them on the fourth with this Dentistry. My mom's friend recommended Dr. Lew and encouraged me to get a second opinion with Dr. Lew. She was very thorough with her explanation of what needed to be done and cared very much about the overall outcome of my mouth rather than just proceeding with removing all 4 of my wisdom teeth immediately. She then gave me a clear explanation on how to care for my teeth until the procedure. This week I had pain so she kindly scheduled me in right away to get them removed this Friday. When I came in that day I was very anxious because I have anxiety and she and the wonderful staff made sure to answer any questions and made me feel very comfortable. We had a virtual consultation with Dr. Lew when we were searching for an oral surgeon to extract my daughter's wisdom teeth. We had already consulted with one surgeon who we liked, but still felt it was important to see a second one so we would have options and be able to make an informed choice. Again, this was a virtual consultation - we never set foot in her office and she never looked into my daughters mouth. We didn't feel comfortable with her. She insisted in a bunch of other procedures, such as an expensive CT scan, that other surgeons weren't asking for. Ok, fine. She's being extra cautious, but we felt it was over the top. She even insisted that our then 14-year old daughter take a pregnancy test before the surgery, which we found offensive. We brought that up during the consultation and her response, right in front of our daughter, was "well you just never know." We didn't care for her policies or her demeanor and chose to go with another surgeon. That's fine and exactly why we got multiple consultations. Then months after this "virtual consultation," we get a bill for $230. We were never made aware of any consultation fees and we did not sign any paperwork saying we agreed to any fees. I asked them to provide the notice of consultation fee or any paperwork that we signed agreeing to it. They replied back and said they didn't have any because it was a virtual session, and they asked "what made us think this was free?" This is a highly deceptive, dishonest, and unethical business practice. Had we known of the fee upfront we would have declined the consultation. Yes, other oral surgeons are charging consultation fees, but they're much more reasonable ($75 is typical) and they disclose it upfront so you can decline if you so choose. We told our family dentist who referred us to her about this situation and he was very taken aback. He said he will stop referring his patients there. I have no doubt that Dr. Lew is a fine dentist and oral surgeon, but beware of shady business practices. read more

Dr. Lew is an incredible oral surgeon. I know that some people have written some bad reviews in the past and their point of views are valid but we had what was a traumatic experience turn into an incredible experience... Let me explain... Our 6 year old has a rare condition where her palet is too small for the grown up teeth coming in and she needed 8 teeth pulled out. The procedure went well and was a lot faster than we expected. However once we went home for whatever reason the bleeding did not stop. We called Dr. Lew on her cell phone at 8PM and she had us come back in along with two of her staff to help with the procedure to stop the bleeding. Unfortunately our daughter needed to have an additional 4 stitches added in to stop the bleeding. This was traumatic but as a first responder I was impressed with her skill and an ability as an oral surgeon to perform the procedure under pressure. Having stitches put in your mouth as an adult is difficult but the skill and steady hand with a 6 year old was amazing. Dr. Lew was able to numb the area but this was done with her awake and she was able to calm our daughter down and remain calm, cool, and collected herself during the procedure. Although I wish we did not have to come back after her teeth were pulled out for an additional procedure. Dr. Lew was ready and on call to provide the care we needed and told us God forbid we needed something in the middle of the night to call her and she would meet us in which ever Emergency room we chose. I hope this does not scare you from having your oral surgery done with Dr. Lew what happened to our daughter had only happened one other time with another patient and she told us that patient only had one tooth pulled out. I hope this doesn't scare you but gives you confidence Dr. Lew is a skilled surgeon and whomever is under her care is in safe hands. read more

She is the most incredible oral surgeon. She really cares about her patients and all of her staff does as well. I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed and she really spent a lot of time with me before surgery to explain everything. I never have to wait in her waiting room. She always calls me for the appointment right away when I arrive. After the surgery, I had some pain in one of my teeth. She met with me every other day for a week and a half to monitor progress on my teeth and provide me with some assistance with the pain. She did this because she cares about the patients. She did not charge me for these additional appointments. She really truly cares about her patients. I would recommend her to anyone for any dental needs. Dr Lew extracted a tooth on my 7year old who is highly anxious about dentists. Dr Lew went above and beyond to take her time with my daughter to explain exactly what she would be doing. At no point did I feel Dr Lew and all of her staff were annoyed by any of the questions we asked. Once they took my daughter back for the procedure, I was 100% confident that she was in great hands. Dr Lew even texted me that night to follow up after the procedure to make sure she was ok and let me know if I had any concern I could bring her back to have her checked out. Dr. Lew is an AMAZING oral surgeon who cares deeply about her patients...and it shows! Her initial consultations cover ALL the questions, concerns and procedures of your surgery. She tells you what to expect before & after. She adjusts to whatever your needs are. The night before my surgery she called to make sure things were good to go for the next morning. On surgery day, her staff were quick and efficient and my appointment started right on time. As nervous as I was, she & her staff calmed my nerves right away. They draw a vial of your blood to produce a growth serum to help your body recover and fight off infection (high tech stuff!) She studied a lot with pain & recovery so she knows her stuff. A staff member makes sure you are able to get around and will even walk you to your car. The following day, I got another phone call from Dr. Lew personally to make sure things were going okay. When I told her that the pain meds weren't strong enough, she called in another med to a pharmacy right away. She then again followed up to see if I had picked up the new meds and how they were working for me. Dr. Lew is a straightforward genius of a doctor who genuinely CARES about her patients and LOVES what she does. She pays attention to detail and knows everything about her field of work. Dr. Lew pulled my son's wisdom teeth a while back and I meant to review her then, but never got around to it. She was awesome! She is very thorough in her consultation, went over everything - lymph nodes, freckles, EVERYTHING! Did an excellent job in the surgery. She offered the growth hormone to speed healing, which we opted for, because my son is an athlete and didn't want to be out of commission for too long, and it seemed to work. There was no pressure to buy the hormone, it was just offered as an option (not covered by insurance). Her office staff was very good as well. Made sure that I understood all of the charges, and that the growth hormone would be additional because it was not covered by insurance. Her office was very clean and professional. She gave me her cell phone number so I could reach her over the weekend if I had any questions - which I did. She also called a few times to check in and make sure that he was doing okay. I was referred by a pediatrician and what can I say Dr. Visits and Oral Surgeon Visits are expensive. My jaw hit the ground when i received the bill but there is one thingI am certain of, Dr. Lew and staff have a one of a kind experience. They accomodated my daughter on short notice, provided me with the necessary information, and really broke the process down. A super plus is Dr. Lew checked in the evening prior to the surgery which gave me assurance, as a parent. It's not every day you have to send your daughter to have oral surgery. Dr. Lew is probably one of the nicest, most experienced doctor I've ever been to. She really goes that extra mile to make sure you feel comfortable with your surgery. She texted me the night before and the night of my wisdom teeth extraction to ask if I was doing okay and if I had any questions. I got the growth factor which is when they take blood from your arm and inject it into your gums to ease the healing process. My swelling went down that night and I was fully functional. I felt uncomfortable from the start. First, I was told it was recommended to get a $300 CT scan to ensure my daughter's vein wasn't going to be involved in the process. My dentist told me that should have been the first warning sign that the money grab was up front. Additionally- when I inquired about a narcotic for pain relief after the surgery- Dr. Lew basically lies to me and tells me that my name would be put on some drug list for the FDA and that I would have to wait for the prescription to even process. (Lies- when we used a different doctor, he recommended the Norco for pain relief and I filled it with no problem.). While I don't have an issue with homeopathic means of pain relief, I take issue with lying to persuade parents to this end. Dr. Lew was very rough when handling my daughter and didn't have a gentle touch. Then after we decide against using her services, I'm given a huge bill. I'd stay clear of this practice. First of all I agree with all the good things said about Dr. Lew. She is professional and does a really good job. However, her prices are terrible. I recently had a tooth removed by her and it cost roughly $3,000 with very little returning from insurance. Just yesterday I had a tooth removed by another surgeon using the same process and the cost was only $590 before submitting to my insurance company. I am still trying to pay off the last visit to Dr. Lew and to know that I could have saved over $4500 in two visits. If money is a concern then please shop around. There are better deals. read more

She made me watch an interesting video that almost put me to sleep, but it got to the points. For some reason she scheduled my appointment the following day so I did not have too much time to pig out. I drank water like crazy and did whatever she told me to. Anyways I went in the morning to surgery and got all 4 of my wisdom too taken out. I went on the tofu and yogurt diet and it was painful to eat like that oh yeah I had a ton of mashed potatoes and had a bunch of pain killers =) Anyways I lost 10 pounds. But anyways I was bleeding for a day or so, but she told me this was normal. She even called me that night to make sure I was okay. She is young and helpful and professional.
