Dr. Alexanian was recommended to me by my PCP for a colonoscopy after an infection. I had some major nerves going in for the colonoscopy given a complicated family history, but Dr. Alexanian was nice and explained everything.
A year later, on 6/27/24, I called for a different procedure he told me he could handle. The scheduling staff told me the treatment could take up to 3 appointments and they scheduled two of those appointments for me that day, one for 7/31 and one for 8/14. The 7/31 appointment went fine. I had a pretty dramatic reaction to it and the staff was very kind to make sure I was ok before I left.
Now to the 8/14 appointment, which if you'll remember I made 7 weeks prior to that date. I took the day off work. I confirmed via their system the day before that I would be there for my appointment. I got there 15 mins early as they request and sat in the waiting room for a full 40 mins before I was called back. They had me go in the room and remove my clothes and left me in there for another 20 mins. It was an hour of me physically in the office now, 1/3 of that time undressed. This is the point when they tell me the equipment needed to do the procedure did not arrive and they can't do it.
They knew for 7 weeks I was coming. They knew 2 weeks before this appointment I was serious about this treatment plan because I showed up to my first appointment. They knew the day before that I confirmed I would be there. They knew an hour before that I was in the building waiting for my appointment. And they certainly knew that I was in the room with my clothes off for 20 mins. All of this BEFORE they told me the equipment didn't arrive. This is entirely unacceptable in my opinion.
The doctor was apologetic and told me they were tracking the package and were sure it would be there before my appointment time. However, my appointment should have been cancelled that morning when they didn't have the equipment first thing. What if it had gotten there minutes before I did but it was incomplete or broken? You need time to quality check things, not waste patient's time with your fingers crossed.
He said his staff would be in touch to reschedule, I'm not super confident they will though.
The worst part is there's no discipline on their end. If I had been an hour late and then called to cancel I would've been charged a fee for wasting the doctor's time. But for us patients? All we can do is write a long review in hopes others actually read it and it saves someone else a headache like this.
3 stars because up until this point I had no big issues with the office (the billing people were mildly unhelpful before this...) and I do like the doctor. But it never should have gotten to the point of me taking a day off work, coming in at all, and sitting there for an hour, part of that in a state of undress. The way I was treated was disrespectful. read more
