Probably the most unprofessional staff I've dealt with. Had a consult on May 14. Have been waiting months, calling multiple times over and over to get scheduled for a procedure. It has been over two months of wasted time and back and forth. Someone is always "supposed to get back to me" and then never does. A complete waste of hours and hours of my time. Like many reviews I have read I had the same experience. Dr Garrett is fine but the staff that answer the phones are very unprofessional. Absolutely no follow up or communication. You get attitude for asking why is take 3 phone calls to get a call back. They act like they are doing you a favor for answering the phone. This place has by far the most unprofessional getto staff I've ever encountered. A woman Named Heather who wouldn't let me get a word is. Told me "I'm making sure no ones trying to screw you" she said this to me after i asked if she even knew what I was calling about before cutting me off . After I called her out for saying such a thing. she just puts me on hold. Then a woman named Ana picks up. Who's not any better at her job then Heather. I ask her what's the woman's name that I just spoke too. She says hold on and puts me on hold. As to find out if she should tell me her name. Comes back and tells me Her name was Heather. Who knows if this is really her name. I tell Ana I called at 9am regarding my test results for a procedure done 3 weeks ago. I was told that they would call me back to find out what's happening because it should only take 7 to 10 days. I followed up at 2pm and now Ana states that she never spoke to me. And she states that she was the only one taking calls that morning. This the type of staff this place has? So I told her. That I have a outgoing call to this exact number and durations 7 min. So I'm lying? She starts to go into how rude I'm being and just puts me on hold. I have to hang up call back and she picks up just puts me on hold. Comes back says sorry I can't find the manager. I never had an issue trying to speak to someone with some type of professionalism in a doctors office before. Somehow I can't reach a nurse, doctor or a manager to give me an update on what happened with a test that was done 3 weeks ago. The doctors amazing but the staff couldn't be any less qualified to work with patience. I've had better customer service at mc Donald's. Dr. Garrett and his team are the absolute best! I will highly recommend his care and service, and their team time and time again. I have been a patient for over 10 years, and I have always received the best bedside manner, and care, as well as his/ their attention to everything that I have expressed with health concerns. There has never been an appointment with him where I have left feeling drained, or like I had a million questions or was worried about my health. Dr. Garrett always makes sure to answer any questions you have, and hass always recommended additional follow up suggestions which have always helped me grow, and have saved my health. Preserving my life, and a million others is his main concern, and it's definitely appreciated. I can honestly say that his time, and his generosity with his medical knowledge has saved my life. When it comes to having the best doctor/specialist, Dr. Garrett has definitely shown up, and shown year after year, that his service and care is nothing but the best. Stay away from this office. I had a consultation with Dr. Garrett for a colonoscopy and he seemed nice. However, his office staff, specifically Heather, is atrocious! It seems that a lot of other reviewers experienced the same with Dr. Garrett's staff. Despite the bad reviews, I contacted this office because my GP recommended Dr. Garrett. After the consultation, I called back for a simple question. I guess I pressed the wrong number during the automated prompt and when I asked my question to Heather, she barked at me that I "should not be on the doctor's line; hang up right now." She then called me back and continued to scold me about calling on the doctor's line and how it's reserved. I tried to apologize and say that I must have pressed the wrong number during the prompt, but she wouldn't let me finish my sentence. She just cut me off and said, "What's your issue?! What's your issue?! Wait, wait, wait!" Omg, I have never been treated so rudely. I was shaken up by the call. I decided to ask for other recommendations from my GP and friends. I ultimately decided to go with Dr. Eshtiaghpour in Encino. He's part of the UCLA Health group. What a big contrast!! To be fair, both doctors were nice and seemed knowledgeable, but what a huge difference in the office staff's professionalism. The entire process from consultation, to Covid test, to the procedure itself, was exceptional with Dr. Esthtiaghpour! I would leave him and his staff a rave review, but I guess he's not on Yelp. Bottom line, don't put up with rude, unprofessional office staff just because the doctor is recommended by another trusted doctor. There are other good doctors out there and you deserve to be treated with respect and have a wholly positive experience. read more

I could not love Dr. Garrett more than I do. If you are in need of a GI doctor, and you live in the Burbank area, I recommend him hands down. I've been to Dr. Garrett for a routine colonoscopy and endoscopy, and most recently for an endoscopic ultrasound, an ERCP and stent removal procedures after having a horrible gallbladder issue. He is meticulous in his work, a total professional, takes time to explain EVERYTHING in great detail, and even followed up with me by phone. I spent the greater part of a month hospitalized for what ended up being a total gallbladder removal. He was conservative in his approach to finding the problem, and then ultimately, the solution, and didn't simply jump in and say, "Just take the gallbladder out!" before trying other procedures we hoped would work. Ultimately, the removal was necessary, but he followed through all the way to the end. I just can't speak highly enough of him. As an addendum, the hospital staff in the surgical center - both offsite, and at Providence St. Joe's - ALL speak highly of Dr. Garrett. So many people who work in these places CHOOSE HIM as their doctor. That speaks volumes. I would take the one-star reviews that concentrate on his office staff with a grain of salt. Sure, a pleasant office staff is always appreciated. But if you're having someone performing procedures on you, I think it's much more important to have a competent doctor who is going to get the job done and have you come out the other end healthy and happy. I had a very bad experience with Dr . Benedict Garrett . I was referred to Dr Garrett by a physician that had worked with him. I had an endoscopy done by Dr Garrett, during the procedure, while I was sedated, either Dr Garrett or the anesthesiologist fractured one of my front teeth with the equipment they placed in my mouth. When I woke up, I noticed my fractured tooth, and the nurse alerted me of an unusual body reaction to the meds I was given. I asked the nurse kindly to call Dr Garrett. The staff tried to ignore me, they finally called the doctor, and Dr Garrett's response was not only shocking to me, it was also very inappropriate. If core se denied that my tooth was fractured during the procedure, he also told me " what can I tell you some people like to walk around with broken teeth, and some have broken teeth in the front" Seriously Dr Garrett? He knew that I was working in dentistry for 30 years and that I was managing a dental office at that time. I was ignored by the hospital and Dr Garrett's office, they did not help me fix my tooth! Dr Garrett staff was never nice, nor helpful to transfer my records in a timely manner to a different office. I definitely do not recommend Dr Garrett! Do NOT GO to this doctor he's a FAT shamed and a terrible doctor/gastroenterologist I had referred somebody to him who had might've had a tumor and he referred them to loosing weigh was the cause of the lump, I have informed Dr. Garrett that the patient had been unable to eat or drink anything due to the massive pain in their stomach and that they needed a stat CAT scan immediately ... he is still yet to respond do not go to this doctor this doctor does not know what he is doing! read more

I used to really like Dr. Garrett. I think he's a smart guy and has provided me with good advice in the past. However, I have never had a worse experience with a doctor's office than I've had here. His nurses are incompetent, self-admittedly overworked ("I work for 5 doctors. I don't have time to make a phone call for you.") and cannot seem to get prescriptions right. I have friends who work in health care and they cannot believe the experiences I've had. They advised me to switch long ago. I should have listened. It once took me over 3 weeks to get a prescription filled because they would not call CVS Caremark to correct a problem with the dosage - one that was their mistake. This was medicine I desperately needed. It took over 15 phone calls (that's one per business day) to their office alone over the course of these weeks to get it straightened out. (Btw - CVS Caremark was more than helpful, this was only the nurses in Dr. Garret's office.) I had to get frustrated and angry before something would happen. Then when I was sick again and later called for prescription refill the doctor left me a voicemail in response SIX DAYS LATER and told me I was no longer his patient because I had used profanity with a nurse. Tell me you wouldn't while you're sick and in pain and waiting for incompetent people who won't work with you for 3 full weeks! Not only that but during the six days I waited for that call I got progressively sicker. I called the doctor to discuss the situation (I was baffled) and never got a response. I eventually called my general practitioner and explained the situation - I had the medicine within the hour. There are lots of good doctors out there. Don't use Dr. Garrett or anyone else in this office. You'll get the same nurses and they provide the worst service I have seen in any office anywhere. You can't do that to yourself when you are sick. I've been to see Dr. Garrett several times over the last several years. I have never had a problem. He has always treated me with respect and I have NOT been fat shamed. He has never even mentioned my weight and I'm certainly overweight. He addresses the issue at hand and leaves my primary care in the hands of my primary physician. The nurses at Providence St Joseph also seem to hold him high regard. I've only had a minor issue with office staff and that was booking an appt. They had trouble finding me in their system but the issue was quickly resolved and they were pleasant. After procedures he instructs me to call the office to get my results. He never mentioned my weight which is not good so I'm surprised at the comment of fat shaming. Dr. Benedict Garrett has successfully performed a total of three surgeries for me and a member of my family. My first was an emergency ERCP after gall bladder removal surgery (performed by another doctor) did not correct my problem. Dr. Garrett skillfully removed sludge from my bile duct (not an easy assignment for any doctor) and I recovered quickly. He was extremely caring to me and insistent on discussing the surgery with my husband in an area AWAY from any people (a law that he followed to the letter). The nurses at Providence Saint Joseph rave about him and his skill level. I next had a colonoscopy at the surgery center across the street. I met Dr. Garrett in 2011. I had a difficult case, undiagnosed for nearly a decade. After ordering upper and lower endoscopies and on top of it having suffered from C.diff which is a horrible GI infection (that takes forever to leave your system) he had biopsied a few things as well, two weeks later and still not hearing back from his office for results reviews, I called myself, he differed to his nurse who scrambled to find my tests results that were unremarkable. He never bothered to call himself, followed-up etc. Once again, right after the endoscopies that were "clean", offered psychotropic meds, seems to be a trend. Is it so unfathomable for a doctor, any doctor to say " I don't know what you have, let's figure it out" instead of going straight for the prescription pad for something that may not even help and for something undiagnosed?!
