All we had to do was download an app on our phones and answer some questions & watch some videos to educate us on the basics of scuba diving. Super simple & fun. 3) Kirk gave us an address to meet them at we showed up and he went through the details and what we were going to be doing & how the equipment worked. 4) Kirk has a presence about him that is calming and his charismatic ways of breaking down fears and anxiousness about scuba diving make it clear we chose the right place. 5) Kirk did not disappoint! We saw a shipwreck with coral, tons of fish and lobsters! We also saw 3 HUGE ORANGE STARFISH. We saw a puffer fish, really cool jellyfish & literally tons of different kinds of fish too. 6) This is an adventure that has blown our minds. We each were in awe of what we all saw & experienced. We took the Kyalami out to the Juno Reef Ledge for a drift dive and the water was surprisingly…read moreclear for November! Heading out we saw dolphins around the boat. Once we dropped in, there was a nurse shark and Caribbean reef sharks. The coral was of varying species and lovely. My dive guide Susan was excellent and took this video of a Goliath grouper which circled us for some time. Perhaps around 500 pounds, it's hard to tell the scale in the video. She got close enough for us to pet her. I would definitely do this dive again, the team was awesome!

The employees actively ignore you, give you the side eye, and today when I tried to check out the girl at the register cursed under her breath when I walked up. I've been here a lot of times because I love to surf and dive, and again they have exactly what you will need for that. But do not talk to the staff unless you want to feel kind of judged. My brother and I dove with Pura Vida Divers last week, and unfortunately it was one of the worst…read moredive experiences I've had -- and I've dove many times all over the world. Before booking, we were very clear that we were relatively new divers and had never done a drift dive. We specifically expressed that we wanted to feel safe and properly supported. We were assured it would be fine, but once we were in the water, the support simply wasn't there. There was very little help with weights at the start. I quickly realized I was underweighted and had to go back and get more, which immediately separated me from the group. From there, things only got worse. I ended up alone on the reef during a drift -- something that should never happen -- and ultimately had to surface solo and wait for the boat by myself. To make matters worse, my surface marker/flag device wouldn't inflate properly, and I had to be picked up alone. At no point did I feel like anyone from the team was proactively ensuring I was safe or accounted for. Afterward, the only response I received was essentially, "Sorry you had a bad experience." That was the extent of the support. The diving itself may be beautiful, but the staff's lack of attentiveness and concern for client safety and experience was deeply disappointing. When newer divers communicate nervousness and inexperience with drift diving, that should be taken seriously -- not brushed aside. This wasn't about conditions or bad luck. It was about a lack of care and leadership. I would not recommend this operation to newer divers, and I left feeling unsettled rather than excited about the dive.

Communication was excellent during both the booking process and the trip itself. Everything was well organized and clearly taken care of. The dive itself was exceptional, with loggerhead turtles, goliath groupers, lemon sharks, and bull sharks all making appearances. The next day I booked a guided night dive at Blue Heron Bridge with Ethan. Once again, the communication was top-notch. Ethan was a fantastic guide, expertly taking us to several micro-environments and pointing out an incredible variety of critters--many of which I had never seen before, even though I had visited the bridge a couple of times previously.

But, wanted our son to be old enough to participate with us. We did it together in June! A random Google search and good reviews led us here. Our instructor Joe treated us like family. He took extra care with our son being patient and repetitive until he mastered the safety skills. Katie helped out mama bear with breathing and buoyancy. Hubby was previously certified and did his refresher alongside us. He also picked out our gear like a kid in a candy store. All around amazing!!…read more I don't have enough good things to say about Ultimate Dive. Ken and Laura are not only very nice people, but also very helpful and knowledgeable about diving. My husband and I were looking to go on a dive trip for our honeymoon. My heart was set on Indonesia as I didn't want to go some where "touristy" like the Caribbean, but at the time we were looking to go, there was a bomb scare in the area, which made us look for another destination. Ken suggested Matangi in Figi and I am so glad that he did. It was absolutely perfect. We were able to get the cultural non-touristy experience we were looking for as the Fijian people are so welcoming and offer a variety of activities where you can visit and spend time with them in their local villages. We also had amazing diving with a really great guide from the resort and wonderful relaxation and pampering that comes with being on your honeymoon. Ken was so easy to deal with when setting up the trip. He gave us lot of options for when we wanted to go and suggestions on the best ways to travel - he even booked us a day room when we had a long lay over between flights, which again ended up being a great suggestion.
