We are from LA and we have visited the original Dave's multiple times as well as many other locations all over Los Angeles. When we found out that Dave's was opening a franchise in South Jersey we were so excited since that is where my family is from! We hyped it up to them and told them that they were going to LOVE it! When we were just home visiting, we got to finally try it out since they opened last year! The restaurant is very cool, plenty of tables, very open, and they even have seating outside as well! One thing we love about Dave's is the different art in each location, it's so cool to see how it changes wherever you visit! We also love that in every restaurant you can find a bit of their story from how they started in a parking lot in LA! We ordered the 2 slider meal with fries, one extra hot and one medium with cheese. We also ordered a side of mac and cheese as well as 2 drinks. The order came out pretty fast and the food looked delicious as always. We loved how fresh the chicken was and the perfect seasoning of the chicken to make it the correct spice level! The fries were amazing, as always and the mac and cheese was creamy! One thing that makes the slider the most perfect is the crunch of the kale slaw! It wraps up the flavor profile so perfectly! OH! And we can't forget to talk about the Dave's sauce. Get extra. You won't regret it! Overall, this is out favorite restaurant to get hot chicken from! Yes, I loved it! Yes, you should try it! Okay, now that we have that out of the way: I had no idea what to expect when we went to Dave's Hot Chicken the other week (March 7, 2025). How exciting to try a new place! The menu is limited to - you guessed it: chicken! You can get a tender meal or a slider meal and they come with fries. Let's talk about the chicken "tender" for a minute. It isn't your classic frozen, processed, over-breaded, commercially produced tender. It's actual white-meat chicken, not of the "ground-up mystery meat" variety. This is very important: they are as big as a toddler's arm LOL! For real: I didn't think the tender + slider meal was going to be enough for me so I added an additional slider to my order. Narrator's Voice: In fact, that would have been plenty of food for him. I did not need that extra slider - the huge tender plus the slider and fries was enough. I was skeptical because the slider is also made with a chicken tender - but it didn't matter - it was still oh so good! White-meat chicken is traditionally easy to overcook and dry out. Well, Dave and his staff have it all figured out because the chicken we ate was succulent, moist (sorry ladies), and perfectly cooked. A word about the heat (spiciness): you can select how hot (spicy) you want your chicken, anything from plain to reaper. I chose hot. The young man behind the register politely double-checked with me, because, "Dave's "hot" is much hotter than most restaurant's idea of hot." No, I stuck to my guns and ordered it hot. Guess what? HOLY CRAP WAS IT HOT LOL! Not a deal-breaker, I enjoyed sweating while I ate it. And let me add: their hot is not all about spice and heat. There are a ton of great seasonings accompanying the heat. For sure, paprika. I don't know what the rest is, I just know I loved it! The interior of the restaurant was clean and well-lit. They have very interesting art work all over the walls. The service was fantastic. The gentleman who took our order came over to our table later on to see how everything was. For a fast-foody-type establishment, this was refreshing. So: life is short - just go try Dave's Hot Chicken at least once in your life! read more

I got food poisoning here right before the weekend. Ruined my weekend because it was awful.

Popped in the drive thru and got thru pretty quickly. However, once we arrived at the window we were not acknowledged by staff for what seemed like an eternity. It was seriously about a 15 minute wait which I assume because the food was fresh. It would've just been nice if the person at the window had opened it to say something lol. 1st time there so not the best impression, but the food was pretty good, so that helps a LOT ! After pulling off realized we didn't have any napkins so had to go inside where we saw a sign that napkins/cutlery only available by request. So now I know for my next visit where I'll try another level of spicy. read more

I have now tried Dave's, and Asads hot Chicken and now I can compare the two. I went there on the day of the grand opening, and I was there at 10:30. The whole crew there was helpful, attentive and accommodating. The one guy even tried talking me into getting the Ghost pepper, hard pass for me. Dave's, the chicken was very good. Spicy without being greasy, or too dry. The Dave's sauce added a cooling mouth feel and was delicious. The spices used here , I felt had more Cumin than Asads, and am not the biggest fan of Cumin so I was able to notice it more. The fries were a little less crispy than Asads, and you got less fries. They both were excellent. If I had both on an unbranded plate I felt that I would have trouble telling them apart. The fries were a little less seasoned at Dave's. Daves has an interior dining room, so for me, I prefer to sit down in the resturaunt then eat outside in my car. Overall, I loved both. I would recommend them both, but Daves has a place to sit. read more

Looks are deceiving. I usually don't eat out often but this was the worst decision i have made in a while. Could've gotten better quality at chickfila or popeyes. I know nothing about the place so i decided to order the number 2 (2 sliders). Sliders usually implied something small but these were legit 2 chicken sandwich's. Now wonder why the price was insane. On top of that you have to buy a drink it doesn't come with the meal. $3 for a small fountain drink and when i got it it tasted like seltzer water with a splash of the coke syrup. I went through the drive through and it took about 5-10 minutes to receive my order (i was the only person in line). When i got my food the fries were ice cold. The sandwiches themselves looked like they would be good but just tasted like grease. Also was not a fan of the dry rub i thought it would've been immersed in a sauce or something. About halfway through eating this (bc i paid so damn much i felt i had to eat it) I found a hair in my food. Honestly i wouldn't even bother with this place not worth it. I wish they kept it a pdq honestly was better quality. I'll give two stars bc the dude at the register was at least nice and some of my complaints i guess are personal preference like the dry rub thing.
