I started with an order of tandoori tikka paneer, which are cubes of Indian cottage cheese, marinated in a yogurt and spices, and cooked in a clay oven. Even though this type of cheese is on the dry side, the marinate sauce accompaniment made for a delicious start to my meal. For my entree I had lamb sagwala, my favorite dish. Lamb sagwala were tender chunks of lamb, marinated in yogurt and Indian spices, then sautéed in a cream spinach sauce. The thing I like about the Indian restaurants I visit are usually hands on, family run. The young Indian lady who attended to me was very courteous and helpful, always smiling. The dining room was a handsome, quiet room, low Indian music playing, adding to the experience. There is booth like seating that runs the entire length of the room, with tables and chairs facing them. The tables can be set together for larger groups. The restaurant is also byob. Krish's Indian bistro is located in Washington township, on Hurffville-Cross Keys road in a small strip center located directly across from Jefferson hospital parking lot. The chicken tikka momo, however, was outstanding. They were tender dumplings smothered in a sweet, familiar tikka sauce that my boys attacked with an enthusiasm usually reserved for free money. My youngest ordered the chicken makai soup and delivered a concise, pro-level critique: "It's fine." My oldest enjoyed his tofu Manchurian, though his eyes kept wandering to better plates. The beef skinny noodles and chicken Hakku Bakku chowmein were massive and well-made, but they lacked personality. The chowmein tasted like a very good lo mein. Nothing wrong with that, just predictable. The undisputed star was the chicken choyla. It was smoky, spicy, and rich with mustard oil. If the other dishes were polite small talk, the choyla was the eccentric guest telling stories nobody had ever heard before. Everyone at the table kept reaching for it. As for the service, the staff was incredibly friendly but possessed a unique talent for vanishing. Despite the empty room, refilling water and securing extra napkins became a minor side-quest. But then the bill arrived: $120 for six people. These days, taking the family out can feel like financing a small yacht, so this felt like a genuine bargain. The lady at the counter seemed like she was being forced to work and didn't know how to greet or even smile . We placed our order for 2 halwa pooris and were told to sit down . During our wait , no one came by with water or anything. So we just waited patiently. After a while she comes by with salad , yoghurt n chutney . She also brings our food but all the pooris were over fried and were hard to chew on . I went up to the counter to let her know and she was not a bit apologetic or accommodating but instead said pooris are this way . I told her pooris should be soft in texture and not hard by the sides and dark brown in color- they are over fried . She groaned and frowned and said ok - I'll send more. She came by with pooris and literally threw them on the table without uttering a word . We were appalled. We have never had such bad customer service dining out at a restaurant before . The lady was a grouch to begin with . An absolute joke! What's annoying is that she went on to charge us not only for the first set of burnt pooris but also for the replacement despite us saying that this was totally wrong of her . Also , please note that there is an orange highlighted sign by the counter stating that this place has - conditionally satisfied health practices - I didn't see that until after we left .
