An avid Indian food person, this is the first Indian restaurant I've been to in south Jersey. The 2 dishes I tried were North Indian staples, popular in American Indian restaurants. I started with an order of tandoori tikka paneer, which are cubes of Indian cottage cheese, marinated in a yogurt and spices, and cooked in a clay oven. Even though this type of cheese is on the dry side, the marinate sauce accompaniment made for a delicious start to my meal. For my entree I had lamb sagwala, my favorite dish. Lamb sagwala were tender chunks of lamb, marinated in yogurt and Indian spices, then sautéed in a cream spinach sauce. The thing I like about the Indian restaurants I visit are usually hands on, family run. The young Indian lady who attended to me was very courteous and helpful, always smiling. The dining room was a handsome, quiet room, low Indian music playing, adding to the experience. There is booth like seating that runs the entire length of the room, with tables and chairs facing them. The tables can be set together for larger groups. The restaurant is also byob. Krish's Indian bistro is located in Washington township, on Hurffville-Cross Keys road in a small strip center located directly across from Jefferson hospital parking lot. Came here because we were craving Indian food while looking for a place to lunch. Ordered off the menu even though their buffet also looked really good, and we got lamb and chicken vindaloo, chicken tandoori, vegetarian samosa, garlic naan, and butter naan. Everything was delicious and we were super shocked by the tandoori chicken that was sizzling when it came out, like a fajita platter! The service was fast and attentive and the restaurant had tasteful decor that added to the lovely ambiance of the place. DELICIOUS! For anyone who is a big fan of Indian cuisine, you NEED to try this place! My husband and I love Indian food and we've taken it upon ourselves to try as many Indian restaurants in the South Jersey area as we can. Krish's Indian Bistro easily makes it into our top 5! The food is great and their portion sizes are even better! We've been to other places where the portion size was way too small for the price we were paying. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and the sauce was so creamy and the perfect amount of spice. What I especially loved was that the waitress had told us she would gladly give us another serving of rice once we had finished our first portion...without any extra cost! The food is very good. Authentic. My only issue was in a previous occasion, I ordered the chicken tikka masala, and the chicken was warm, not hot. On another occasion I ordered the same thing(it's my favorite Indian dish). But this time I asked to have the chicken cooked well done.. I would have been okay with it being dry and burnt honestly. A few months ago I discovered we had a new Indian restaurant nearby and ordered takeout via a third party. It was pretty good, but I felt like takeout tainted the experience a little. So last night I suggested my husband and I try them again, but actually dine in the restaurant and we are so glad we did. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall across from the hospital. Upon entering, it was nicely decorated and we were promptly seated at a side table with a little bench with pillows. Water was brought over immediately in little silver cups. Our server happened to also be the owner, and he took our order and brought us our Mango and Sweet lassi drinks in wine glasses, which made for a nice touch. We started with the vegetable samosas and paneer pakora, both served with mint and tamarind chutney. The samosas arrived crispy and super hot. They were stuffed with potatoes and peas and spices and paired wonderfully with both dipping sauces. The paneer was fantastic, and if you're not familiar with Indian, are the closest thing to a mozzarella "stick" with gooey paneer cheese and a crispy coating. For our entrees we did the butter chicken, lamb biryani, and butter naan. The butter naan arrived first and was glistening. It was flaky and was used throughout the evening to soak up the butter chicken sauce, which was divine. The butter chicken was some of the best I've ever had. I usually ask for mild and find that it is still quite spicy, but this was perfect and not spicy at all. The flavors were fantastic and we ended up putting the butter chicken sauce on our biryani too. The lamb in the biryani was unlike any I've ever had, tender and fall-apart when touched with my fork. We both agreed the butter chicken was our favorite, but the biryani was still good. We ended up needing several takeout containers because we couldn't finish everything. There are no dessert offerings, but Indian cuisine isn't typically known for desserts so we didn't expect to have any anyway. While we were dining there were only 4 other tables ( one being a large party) dining in, but at least a dozen takeout orders were being picked up. Food was fantastic here. Ordered the Kadai chicken, tandoori roti, chicken tikki masala, dal fry and lamb seekh kebab. They were all very delicious dishes and decent portions. The lamb seekh kebab was outstanding and my favorite - it is served with a mint sauce, grilled onions and peppers and hits the spot! Restaurant is beautiful and has ample seating, service was good. My husband and I happened upon Krish's over the holiday break while looking for good food after doing some outlet shopping. We live about 30 minutes away and have already talked about going back and also wishing we could get weeknight takeout from here! It was midday and service was charming and attentive. I drink a lot of water and the server was so good about keeping the glasses full We had samosa chaat a delicious dal makhani and chicken tikka masala entree along with garlic naan that were made to order (I love that the kitchen line is somewhat open to the dining room). Everything was generous and delicious. The decor is lovely and very clean. The banquette wall of tables with pillows is very welcoming. Since this restaurant moved to it's new dine in location just last week, we decided to come here with a couple of friends and it was absolutely great! The six of us had an early 5pm dinner on a Tuesday night, and although it was empty at first ... others quickly came and lots of takeout/delivery orders also came in shortly after. We started with 3 appetizers for the table ... (just ok) Chicken Pakora ($9), (tasty sauced) Samosa Chat ($8), and (table favorite) Onion Bhaji ($7). It was such a good start to our meal that I forgot to take pics until most was eaten! All our meals were also fantastic ... DH and I got the (tasty) Chicken Tikka Masala ($20) & (best eggplant) Baigen Bharta ($13) ... while our friends got the (all equally yummy) Lamb Korma ($24), Kadai Chicken ($20), Savartina Korma ($14), and Aloo Gobi ($13). We were all too full for any dessert and many of us took home lunch for the next day! Everything was so good that I returned 2 days later with DS and his GF for their buffet lunch ($15pp) along with (thick and creamy) Mango Lassi's ($5) for everyone. Sorry ... we were too busy eating all the great food with no pics again. But, the buffet had a good mix of samosa's, 2-3 veggie dishes, 3 chicken curries (curry, tikka masala, vindaloo?) and (so-so) gulab jamun. My review is based solely on the lunch buffet. My son and I came for the lunch buffet and it is pretty solid for about $15 per person. The buffet isn't very big but it is tasty. If you are vegetarian I would order off the menu as not too many options on the buffet. The buffet comes with naan but up charge for garlic. Both good. I went to Krish's for the lunch buffet and was overall happy with the experience. Walking in, the staff greeted and immediately seated us. We were given naan to enjoy the meal with at no extra cost. Although the buffet did not have many options (chana masala, dal, cabbage, and 3 chicken dishes), they made up in flavor with the cabbage being best. We loved this place. Service was friendly. We did the buffet option for $15/pax. My absolute favorite dish was the Buttered Chicken. It was phenomenal. We ordered the naan ala carte, as well as the mango lassi. Mango Lassi was so refreshing! The naan was so soft and flavorful. The chicken curry was just okay for me. The restaurant is decorated beautifully and it's a very peaceful environment, good music, friendly staff. Can't come up with one complaint for this place. Indian delivery or food at all in Gloucester County is a rarity, so I'm giving them an extra star just for existing honestly. If this was in Philly or even Voorhees, we'd be looking at maybe 3 stars. So considering all that... The menu is very streamlined, which makes sense as the establishment is run out of The Pelican's restaurant space. Sort of ghost-kitchen-y. Food itself was tasty, a bit too salty for me though. The chicken was good quality. The heat level was also good. The naan really not so great. And no raita?! Major bummer. Lots of rice per entree. It's great to see an good Indian place in Washington Township. The place was clean and service was good. I like papadam I'm the beginning as an appetizer and I saw it was not in the menu but the server brought some to us. I asked if the lamb vindaloo was soft and of the meat breaks apart easily and the server said yes so I order it. When it arrived the lamb was tough. A good lamb vindaloo needs 6-7 hours slow cook to get a very tender lamb. It cannot be rushed!! The server was nice enough to take it back and bring me the chicken vindaloo which was good. We tried the chicken and shrimp tikka masala as well as the butter chicken. The tikka masala had a better flavor than the butter. We tried various naans and they were good but I would like to see if they used a tandoori oven to cook them it. They are crispier on the outside and soft on the inside. Recently saw a review of the Pelican Restaurant, a local seafood place that had changed ownership in the past few years. What caught my eye was a blurb about how Pelican was experimenting with Indian dishes on the menu, with the hopes of opening a restaurant specializing in that cuisine. Recently, Krish's Indian Bistro opened their doors and, being the absolute Indian-food nut that I am, my fempanion and I decided to give it a whirl. Time for the review, FFS. Flair: the overall mood of the eatery is warm and inviting, modern but homey. Situated in a strip mall across from Jefferson Hospital-Washington Twp (just an unfortunate coincidence...I swear). The bench seating offers pillows and the tables offer fresh flowers. Nice. Simple. Neat. The smells made me want our food to arrive quicker than you can say Dal Makhani Food: While we looked over the menu, it truly was difficult to narrow down our choices. Yes, we were redundant with the samosa appetizers...but the difference between the traditional and stewy-like choice we made was like night and day. The traditional, fried samosas had a crisp, light crunch and dense, delicious filling. The coriander and peas created such a refreshing taste and freshness. The samosa added a freshness from the herbs that balanced the spice very well. While certainly satisfying, the appetizers were not overwhelmingly filling. Our naan arrived just before the meal...a perfect sequence of events not seen since Kevin McAllister booby-trapped his house in Home Alone. The naan was delicious, garlicky, and light. We ordered extra raita because why not..it was a Thursday. Good choice on our part. The chilled accompanied meat was tangy and delightful. Our mains arrived soon after. The black lentils (I got them spicy) smelled like one of the most comforting bowls of food I've ever eaten. Cooked to perfection (not too Al dente, not mush), the spice of the dish didn't smack you in the face with a paint can right off the bat. No...it waited until you thought you were safe. Then, flamethrower to the head...errrr, mouth. They weren't kidding. The flavor of the sauce was just right...seasoned to perfection. My fempanions chicken was juicy and delicious. Not chewy or dry, the moist and tender meat held the sauce well and provided even her tame "mild" request have a bit of a bite. It was wonderful. Service: Pretty decent. It wasn't overwhelmingly great, it wasn't overly intrusive like that checkout girl. But it could have been a little more...frequent, I guess. Seemed like they were slammed a bit with take out orders, so maybe they were just working the kinks out. Overall, great food and great experience. I will say it's nice to have an Indian buffet open finally that isn't Gagan Palace (problem with Gagan Palace is that I saw a couple of roaches around the buffet area so haven't been back since then). Now onto Krish's I will preface this by saying I only do the buffet, so my review is for their buffet. That said, I think this place could use a few improvements. I think they are relatively new right? Anyway first, the price seems a bit high considering the number of buffet options available, (comparing to a place like Gagan, Gagan charges less for the buffet and has like 3 appetizer options, 2 different rice options (standard and chicken briyani rice), and 1 or 2 more entree options than Krish's). I would also love if like Gagan they had samosa as an option every day. As for the taste of the selections they did have, they weren't bad, flavor was good, the sauce in their butter chicken tasted especially good. I also like the longer grain rice, as another reviewer pointed out their sauces could stand to be a little thicker (like their butter chicken and tikka masala sauces). Naan bread was very tasty. Dining area looked nice, well decorated and clean, seating could be spread a bit further apart perhaps as the tables seemed really close together with the exception of a few in the middle of the dining area. If the place was busy I wouldn't be a fan of sitting so close to another group. Staff was pleasant and refilled water quickly. Cloth napkins would've been a plus, I know the place has them because I saw them in other reviews, but for the buffet they just give tiny paper napkins. The place is close to my house too so I like that, every other Indian buffet I have been to in the past has been at least a 25 minute drive from my house, this place is only like a 7-13 minute drive from my house. A few minor improvements I think will raise them from good to great. They're off to a good start though. Even if they don't implement any changes based on my review i'll likely still go here since they don't have roaches and they're close to home, but I hope they at least implement some of them. read more

After a girls day out of shopping and trying on clothes, me and my friend headed over to Krish's Indian Bistro! She never had Indian food before so this was her first time, and my first time trying here. There is a buffet special for 15 dollars so we stopped in for that. There was different options from chicken, lamb, veggie and even a little dessert. The service was really laid back and promptly refilled our drinks. They gave us space to chat and eat which I appreciate. The inside is really cute with fresh flowers and a warm vibe, small and inviting. The naan was soooo good, my friend kept going back for more. The buffet itself was tasty, though the chicken was a bit dry on the inside for my liking. Also not as much spice as I was looking for. Which makes sense since it's a buffet style but still would have liked some more spice flavor going on.
