First time trying Royal Grill 37 in Toms River and it did not disappoint. I ordered the mango lassi and the tandoori chicken tikka with rice, served with cucumbers and lettuce--all for $23. The chicken was juicy, well-seasoned, and full of flavor. The mango lassi was my first time trying it, and it was refreshing and perfectly balanced with the meal. On top of that, the owner/manager was incredibly welcoming and even added some baklava, which was a really thoughtful touch. Overall, great food, great service, and a great first experience. Chicken over Rice with extra white sauce. I walked into the small storefront restaurant that gave off a nice positive energy. Yes, I felt very welcome and that friendly team was friendly just like they always have been. They handed me the 'heavy bag' because you always get a lot of food at Royal Grill 37. But when I opened the container to enjoy my solo dinner it was ugh ... the food was not tasty and the amount of chicken was minimal on top of a big pile of rice. The side salad was ok. But it really didn't taste very good ... yes, I know I could add the tasty white sauce but that would merely hide the fact that the chicken wasn't very good. We had take out from this place and it was delicious, certainly had one of the best meals in terms of Halal food (we compared it to the trucks in NYC) and felt was better. Their baklava was EXCELLENT! It was flavorful, moist, full of pistachios and left me wanting more. I tried a brown roll and the traditional triangle shaped baklava. They have a variety to choose from so that was a plus! The inside is clean and simple, and you can smell the food being cooked upon ordering. I have been wanting to try this place for a while and when I saw it on Yelp with the menu and it gave me the ability to order ahead I thought why not give it a try! So glad that I did. Great place, for a vegetarian or for meat lovers alike. I placed my order online and it was ready when I arrive to pick it up and the counter person knew my name and pointed out my bag immediately. My veggie combo was very good as were the sandwiches my fellow diners got. Plenty of sauces included had no extra charge. Unfortunately the plaza where this is located is currently under construction, so the place doesn't look great from the outside and a little hard to find. Affordable platters, juicy, well-seasoned meat, Indian type basmati rice, and portions that will give you leftovers and then some. The interior is just a counter and deli-style tables, so it's really more of a takeout place, but we were just passing through so we ate in. The prices here are very good. They sell a lot of food so clearly their plan is to give a great price and have people frequently come, which seems to be working as there's people always there. The high review comes from the prices mostly and speed of the food. The falafel is definitely subpar, as well as the hummus, and tahini. The grape leaves come cold but upon heating them up I could tell they were fresh and definitely made right, and very tasty. This is a great place is you want a budget friendly quick Mediterranean meal. Let me start with the nicest people! The man at Royal 37 noticed me taking pictures like a weirdo! I then told him, sorry Yelper! He was very proud to tell me they've been in business 9 years. I believe we've been going for about 5 or 6. The nice man poored my husband and I a cup of the most wonderful flavorful aromatic Mediterranean tea. The chicken Tikka was made to perfection moist, soft and filled with wonderful spices from an other world. I really want to know how they make the chicken so perfect! We've had the chicken/beef Chapli kabobs, chicken seekh kabobs, and the chicken tikka. The salad is fresh, but rice is delicious, and the sauces are a great compliment to your meal.
