First, I need to mention an employee named Andre. The man brings hospitality back to the fast food scene. He was so kind, helpful and uplifting. He noticed my daughter in her sports uniform , decked out with a medal and asked if she won. When she broke the news they were runners up, he had nothing but praise and inspiring words. He was just what she needed after a tough loss. The chicken here brings the heat! I know, I should have caught on, it is in the name after all (: I definitely needed the ranch and Dave's sauce to help cool down the medium level slider and the spicy bbq nuggets. We order from Dave's once or twice per week. We always get the hot tenders, fries, and coleslaw. Often, we get the chicken sandwiches. Our favorite item was the "not chicken", cauliflower. Unfortunately, in the recent weeks this item was replaced by the chicken bites. We will miss it!! As previously mentioned, we have been going here once a week since opening in Saugus. Not anymore. The food is ok. We ordered sliders. When I hear slider, I think "small sandwich." However these were full size burger buns with a massive chicken tender hanging off the side. We all would have ordered 1 slider instead of 2 had we realized that they weren't actually sliders. The flavor was ok. I ordered medium and it was just spicy enough. One of our adult sons who eats insanely spicy food took one bite of the reaper and threw it in the trash. His mouth was on fire for hours after. Thought I would try Dave's Hot Chicken in Saugus tonight (Monday) as it was late and had to drive past it. It was meh. I think their only advantage is being open late. Fries were horrible. The sandwich is standard and tastes great with the sauce. We arrived around 4 pm and it wasn't busy. The register person was on his phone and didn't pay attention when we were ordering so we had to repeat it a couple of times. The spiciness isn't too bad compared to other chicken places. The fries are thicker cut and pairs well with the sandwich. Plenty of seating and parking right next to the restaurant. I ventured here after working out at Saugus Planet Fitness with my friends, they asked to remain anonymous so I'll call them Ringo, Dalton and Steve. I walked through the corridor and to my surprise I was greeted by delight and friendliness. Andre is a fantastic employee who treated me and my friends with utter respect and kindness. Although some of my friends do not deserve that respect, wink wink Steve. Daves Hot Chicken in Saugus is not like Woburn or any other location. The Saugus branch needs attention from corporate, similar to that scene in the movie "McDonald's" where expansion compromises quality control. The recipe at this Saugus location tastes as if it were made by my little brother. I was extremely disappointed, spending my Saturday sulking over how poorly this location represented Daves Hot Chicken. As a result, I will never visit the Saugus branch and will gladly drive an extra 10 minutes to continue enjoying the superior Daves Hot Chicken in Woburn. I don't understand why this place is getting crummy reviews. It's amazing. I mean, it's fast food - and it appears to be made to order. That said, I didn't give it 5 stars bc my fries were cold. Wanted to try Dave's for a while so we stopped in Saturday night just after 11pm. I was bummed there was no drive thru. Went in and ordered #1 2 tenders and fries medium heat. Got the food super fast. While there was nothing wrong with the chicken, I found it was very underwhelming. For a place that only does chicken, I thought it would be some really good stuff. It reminded me of the tenders you can get at the Market Basket grill. The chicken seemed a little rubbery and the coating close to the meat was like paste. Maybe it need to rest a bit longer? For me, I did not like the sauce at all, way to sweet for me - literally tasted like they mixed ketchup, mustard, mayo and relish together, almost like thousand island dressing.
