This past weekend I decided to try out April's for brunch because a friend of a friend recommended it. I went and the place is small but cute. The host welcomed me right away while attending other guests. I waited for my table for about 15 minutes. Not too bad being that the place was packed! In the summertime they have an outside patio area which helps with the capacity of people. So I get seated. Looked at the menu which was nicely done. I ordered a tequila sunrise to get the day going (don't judge me! ) after about 5 minutes my drink was brought to me. With such great service I thought I was gonna be ok for an amazing brunch... I wasn't! ‍ I ordered the Boston Omelette (steak tips, onions, mushrooms, peppers, and cheese). The dish came with home fries and toast. I declined the toast because I always ordered a side of pancakes with banana, strawberries, and blueberries! Even though the place was packed. The kitchen was pumping out the orders! The food came within 10 minutes. The presentation looked delicious. But after the first bite of my omelette, I knew we had an issue. The steak (or lack there of!) had not seasoning or flavor to it. Nor did the home fries! Very basic! I had to put a lot of salt and pepper to try and enjoy either item... I didn't even finish the dish. I moved onto the pancakes because they looked delicious. Whomp whomp! Another let down! The only good thing about the meal was then tequila sunrise drink! Would've expected more from this place flavor wise! read more

Always like going there Roger is a nice person. He's an excellent cook. Just tell him what you like and he'll cook it up for you. The coffee day is pretty good too. I like the atmosphere you can lounge and still enjoy your breakfast and time for your cell phone with your loved one. read more

My girlfriend and I came all the way from New Bedford just to have drinks at April's Pub and Grill, and we would do the same a million times again. Brian the Bartender was born to be a bartender, so charismatic and accommodating to a fully loaded bar on a busy Saturday night. We were welcomed with open arms of the regular Saturday crowd, who all made us feel right at home and were very kind to us the whole night. The atmosphere is incredible, a big island bar with the bartender running rampant in the middle and lovely people sitting around the perimeter. If you're looking for somewhere to have some great food, make some new friends, and share some laughs this is definitely the place to go. We will be back! Watch out Brian! Nice little hidden gem! Before entering the first thing I noticed was the grade "A" from the Dept of Public health posted. Stopped by during lunch and was pleasantly surprised how such a small spot accommodated so many people. I myself opted for a breakfast dish. I ordered a western omelette, the portions was plentiful and delicious. I couldn't help but notice all the delicious dishes others had ordered. From a pasta to burgers a nice array of drinks beautifully garnished. Nice size bar to eat a meal and play Keno while listening to 80's music that was a bonus for me. Very local restaurant- not really for tourists coming to Salem for Halloween-vibes. Food was delicious, we had a group of 6 so we tried most of the breakfast offerings in one combination or another. We even got some breakfast cocktails which we found to be fairly priced and well made. The service was a bit slow, however I acknowledge there is a nationwide staffing shortage (a help wanted sign was also in the window) and it was very busy when we visited so I'll chalk the slow service up to that. read more

Turkey club was fresh and perfect. Loved the French fries as they were incredibly crispy. The poached eggs on the sausage Benedict were over cooked which was very disappointing since I love to watch the yoke spill onto the plate. But other than that the sausage Benedict was good. We wanted a low keep dinner that wasn't in the heart of Salem. Found this place on yelp and couldnt have been happier. It is a hole in the wall type of place, but I have to say the food was surprisingly good. I got the chicken sandwich and the chicken was nice and tender and perfectly cooked. My husband enjoyed his greek salad. He didnt love his bowl of soup- italian wedding. Service was nice and quick. It was exactly what we were looking for. Close to the Central Sq area, so if you are looking for a lunch or breakfast spot and need to walk from the train, you are in luck. Burgers are HUGE, I mean, I'm able to tuck in a fair amount of food but I was barely able to finish this burger. The bacon was crisp and good. The fries are amazing- crisp and hot and salty. The price? Affordable for the plate. Service is on par with any bar/grill and good. They aren't over the top but check in an appropriate amount. I like that. I really have grown to love this place. Friendly staff, local pub feel. Everything o have gotten here has been delicious. Mainly go for late breakfast and always get the April Benedict. It is amazing. Have also had their Greek/Chicken Kabob salads which were large, meaty and had good olives a good quality Feta. My daughter really likes the fried chicken cutlet club. My 10 YO son vouches for their Pancakes and he kind of lives for Pancake breakfasts. Overall, great local breakfast pub with no pretense and a great neighborhood feel. DO order the Caprese chicken entree.... every colorful veggie you can think of will be on this plate and DO ask for an extra side of the sauce... can be drizzled on said veggies! Crowded and seemed a tad understaffed for a Saturday afternoon, but the staff was all hands on deck and very friendly. Very impressed by April's in Downtown Lynn. Portions, prices, and flavors were a solid 4+ stars and we'll definitely be returning for breakfast or dinner. I saw highlights from April's menu in a 12:30am fog after waking up on the couch to find the Phantom Gourmet on the T.V. We decided to give it a try for dinner on a Saturday night and easily found street parking. The space is large with booths along the wall and a U-shaped bar in the middle. There were a mix of families and a few regulars. The menu was extensive with a mix of American staples, breakfast, and a few surprises. We went for the daily special - a large N.Y. strip steak, which was an excellent and very flavorful steak, cooked perfectly, and served with mixed vegetables and sweet potato fries. We also tried one of the surprises - a mofongo (plantain based dish) - which was huge and came with a ton of fresh veggies. The burger was solid as well. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive rounding out a pleasant dinner. Overall, a very filling meal at a great price. read more

Toast had too much butter could feel it in my artery French fries bomb as hell tho. Bacon REAL, burgers are HUGE. Has great potions & pricing fair. Breakfast not the best over all. Stopped in for breakfast one morning on the way out of town. I had the stuffed French toast and it was delicious.

Just had an early morning breakfast with a friend. First time in for both of us. Our omelettes showed up in less than 5 minutes and were delicious. The wait staff kept my coffee cup filled (and the coffee is full bodied, not the watered down coffee you often get in restaurants.) My feta and spinach omelette was moist (not wet, as often happens when spinach is involved) and everything was to spec. We sat and talked for an additional hour and my coffee cup was never empty. Very accommodating and friendly wait staff. Clean, well lit and comfortable with ample on street parking. Will definitely make this a regular stop. read more

Wonderful atmosphere and great service! The diversity of customers alone makes one feel very comfortable. They serve everything from mimosas, mofongo and pancakes and it's all fantastic dining. Came here this past weekend with family and friends and was treated well. Priscilla was our server and she was great. I ordered the fried seafood forgetting it was breaded...silly me. I don't care for breaded seafood but I didn't mind it either. I think it might've been the best fried seafood I had. I also had a passion fruit margarita and it was good but too strong for my taste considering I'm a light weight. Overall we enjoyed our time here and received good customer service. read more

I love this place! I've been to April's and April's II a few times in the last couple of months, while I was home for the holidays. Their breakfast menu is solid and ridiculously inexpensive. Eggs, toast, and home fries for under $5 - are you kiddin me?! Remember to ask for well done home fries - you won't regret it! You always feel welcomed here and the staff is so friendly.
