Drove from Winthrop because we love a good old school diner. Nothing beats good food - the Capitol Diner had a great breakfast that was exactly what we were looking for. The corned beef hash omelette was delicious and I am still full hours later! Great service in downtown Lynn and street parking available. You can tell this is a place the locals go to and the servers all were really friendly. Bar seating and tables for 2 along the wall.

I stayed in Lynn, MA, while I was visiting a friend in Boston and wanted to stop and grab some food before I headed back to Philadelphia. I often saw this spot as I walked back to my Airbnb, and thus, I knew I wanted to try it. I stopped in around 8-9 am, and this small but comfortable diner was present with a cook, a waitress, and two older gentlemen- who seemed to be regulars, as the waitress often referred to them by name, who were getting breakfast and catching up on some small talk. The two gentlemen were unintentionally charming as the waitress and I got a good laugh out of their conversation with one another. This is what this diner exemplifies; A community diner that has great service and food for people who live in Lynn and those who do not, like me. It was such an experience, witnessing the chef cook everything on the flat-top stove and put together a fresh meal in a matter of minutes. I ordered the corn beef hash, two fried-hard eggs, and buttermilk pancakes. It all was fresh, hot, well-prepared, and tasty. The eggs were fried to perfection, the pancakes were fluffy and buttered up well, and the corn beef hash was flavorful and did not need much salt or pepper. All in all, this community diner was a wonderful and honestly CALMING experience. No phone, not too much noise... just good food, good vibes, good services, and a decent view into Lynn.

Bacon Benedict - A breakfast dish on a white plate includes eggs Benedict with hollandaise sauce and sliced jalapeños on top. The plate also contains home fries, which are diced and cooked potatoes. The dish is served on a wooden table, highlighting a typical diner or casual restaurant setting.

If you're in the area definitely recommend stopping by and dining here. The food was delicious and overall a good value. Service was friendly and attentive. The menu has plenty of options, however they do lack a selection of coffee beverages. They have basic diner coffee which was good. Would love to see them expand and include espresso based drinks. All in all a great value and would definitely return.

Hash browns & eggs - A white plate with green trim contains two sunny-side-up eggs with bright yellow yolks and cooked whites. Next to the eggs are irregularly shaped fried potato pieces, some with a golden-brown crust. The plate is placed on a table with a napkin and spoon visible in the background, suggesting a casual dining setting.

Theirs a young boy that works here with his dad , it's amazing to see a man teaching his son and the son is working the grill . Very good food , good service overall a great experience! Wonderful place to eat , only thing I didn't like was its cash only . Luckily the waitress was very nice and she said I can pay on Venmo , so I downloaded Venmo and paid but besides that it was an amazing experience!! Also good prices

Very cute diner. You can see all the history here! Food is amazing! 1 waitress running her butt off, huge tip for her!

This place has been around forever, opened umpteen years ago... Named in 1938... Hmmm I think it has the original counters and stools...Very cool... The diner is an actual Brill dining car purchase in 1928.. There are a few tables outside to enjoy during the warm weather. This is a fun place to eat. Eating here is like stepping back in time. Breakfast is served all day. On this visit i enjoyed the Mushroom Swiss Burger. It cam to the counter cooked a perfect medium rare open faced with melted Swiss and a pile of Sauteed mushrooms and a bag of chips for $6.95 I also enjoyed a cup of fresh brewed iced coffee, they serve the milk on the side. The entire staff was well mannered, and my waitress was very attentive and personable. For such an old establishment, I was surprised at how clean everything was. I give the Capitol Diner a Solid 4 Stars

Stellar... this is the Hobo skillet... awesone.

So... first breakfast in Boston... BEST BREAKFAST EVER. EXCLAMATION POINT. STOP. Super cool motif. Insanely friendly team. Super menu... oh and then there's the actual food... GF had the Garden Scrambler... she loved it. I had the Hobo Skillet... SICK!!! BEST BREAKFAST EVER!!! Gave 5 stars because 10 is not an option. Love this joint and WILL be a regular.

Me and my wife came here for breakfast. The food, service and the people were amazing. We will return.

Skillet - A breakfast dish in a brown bowl contains hash with diced potatoes, vegetables, and possibly meat, topped with a fried egg seasoned with black pepper. The bowl is placed on a white plate with a napkin underneath, on a wooden table at Capitol Diner in Lynn, MA, known for its nostalgic atmosphere and breakfast offerings.

Very cute spot with good food and great service. Everyone was so nice and it's a nice little sunny area with outdoor seating too.

The host welcomed me right away while attending other guests. I waited for my table for about 15 minutes. Not too bad being that the place was packed! In the summertime they have an outside patio area which helps with the capacity of people. So I get seated. Looked at the menu which was nicely done. I ordered a tequila sunrise to get the day going (don't judge me! ) after about 5 minutes my drink was brought to me. With such great service I thought I was gonna be ok for an amazing brunch... I wasn't! ‍ I ordered the Boston Omelette (steak tips, onions, mushrooms, peppers, and cheese). The dish came with home fries and toast. I declined the toast because I always ordered a side of pancakes with banana, strawberries, and blueberries! Even though the place was packed. The kitchen was pumping out the orders! The food came within 10 minutes. The presentation looked delicious. But after the first bite of my omelette, I knew we had an issue. The steak (or lack there of!) had not seasoning or flavor to it. Nor did the home fries! Very basic! I had to put a lot of salt and pepper to try and enjoy either item... I didn't even finish the dish. I moved onto the pancakes because they looked delicious. Whomp whomp! Another let down! The only good thing about the meal was then tequila sunrise drink! Would've expected more from this place flavor wise!

Once inside we were seated very quickly... We started with some Crispy Calamari that had peppers and a nice chipotle aioli sauce that went well together. Then we had the Mussels which were very good, it had lots of garlic which we love and it has white wine with heirloom tomatoes. Both appetizers were amazing. Now for my dish I went with the Sin Burger due to seeing a bunch awards for this burger so I had to try. So the burger I ordered was made medium with bacon, truffle aioli and Swiss cheese. It was so good and this dish was the highlight of my night. It was made to perfection and everything went well together in the burger. I'll definitely be back just to eat the burger again. So if you're around Lynn then be sure to give this spot a try. You won't be disappointed!

We tried the "demon seed" the blood orange old fashioned, the "bacon and legs" the "dirty and hot" and the limoncello sipper for dessert. Food wise, we did tuna tartar that I didn't think was spicy but my friend did. It had a nice whipped cream cheese as a base with some homemade chips. Normally I don't like chips but these were good. We also tried the wings. Piping hot, perfect crispness and the house blue cheese I could have eaten with a spoon. We came after a beach day so not our best dressed but we were treated like royalty either way. Definitely a place to return!

Upon entry, we saw a busy bar scene....football games on the tv's and lots of people chatting and having a good time. The dining room, which is located just off the bar area, was kind of small, but was perfect size for the crowd! We were seated rather quickly and given menu's and drinks! We quickly found out Lazy Dog was a family-locals bar, which is a good thing! The vibe was everyone kind of knowing each other and enjoying the food, company and drink. We ordered and the food came rather quickly. We had the caesar salad with grilled veggies and the chicken breast dinner with fries. Both were brought out with hefty amounts on the plates. All the food was great tasting. I had a small dinner salad, which was fresh and perfect size. The chicken I had was tasty, cooked perfectly and plenty. The caesar salad was fresh, as well and we raved about the grilled veggies that came along with it. I wish I ordered the baked beans....but I didn't! I plan to when I return. There is nothing like baked beans and dinner! We wish we could have hung around for the music, but they did not set up in time for us to watch them play. Again, it seemed like a lot of patrons were waiting for the music because they have heard them before....which is great for local, neighborhood places. FYI, entry is in the back. Also, parking is easiest around the back.
