We were only in the country for a few days and wanted to try a proper american diner and it did not disappoint. The waitress was great, very friendly and helpful. The food was outstanding. We had the Wakefield classic and the biscuits and gravy. Every bite was demolished. Great atmosphere, great food and great service. I was stuck in the Boston area for a day. I didn't really want to leave Wakefield. I didn't really have an day itinerary in Boston either. I needed some breakfast nearby. The story goes that the airline cancelled my flight out of Boston and was rebooked for the next morning. I got up early enough to get in some exercise by walking around the bike paths of Lake Quannapowitt. After returning to the Lakeside Inn, where I was staying, the lady at the front desk recommended the North Avenue Diner for my meal. She even had a take out menu at the counter too. Probably it's good business for them especially good when they offer delivery service too. With that said, I basically looked at the menu and decided on ordering 3 breakfast platters. My plan was to just hang out at the hotel - or at least in the area - the entire day and wanted to plan ahead and support local business here too. The main thing that was important was the fact that they accepted credit card info over the phone. Or they accept payment when the order was delivered. I chose the first option, since I rather have the charges on my credit card for the card rewards. The process took about 3 minutes of the ordering. The entire process took about 20-25 minutes, since I had to wait for the driver to come to the hotel and drop the entire order off. The entire bill was pretty good. $37 for 3 breakfast platters including driver gratuity. The overall experience here at the North Avenue Diner was really good, especially when they had offered delivery service. I was glad that I had asked the front desk lady about any recommendations in the area, or else I'd check yelp and uber somewhere else. Yup, 3 breakfast platters for breakfast, lunch, and a snack. I though that the prices here weren't as bad, but typical, for $10 per platter, some a bit more than others but average about $10 to $12. The North Avenue Diner had hours from 6:30am to about 1pm that day of my experience, so I couldn't really find any dinner items on the paper menu. Makes sense though. I usually enjoy breakfast food way more than lunch / dinner options, depending on what I feel like at the time. The service was good, fast, and friendly. I even took my breakfast out and ate it while looking at the sweeping views of Lake Quannapowitt. The delivery guy was cool and awesome. I just happened to be talking to the front desk lady when he walked in and delivered my order. Nice guy. If you are in the area and love breakfast food, consider the North Avenue Diner. The platters were good and delicious. Wished I ordered pancakes, but that's a different story all together. The North Avenue Diner is located in Wakefield, Massachusetts. It's physical address is 247 North Avenue, Wakefield. As mentioned before, they accept major credit cards over the phone when placing your order, if doing a delivery. Or if you decide to dine-in in person too. They do cash as well, if you decide on paying the delivery guy in cash for your order or pay in person while dining in. As far as parking goes, there is street parking, but it's very limited. Best bet would be to phone your order in and pick up. If you decide to dine in, get here early enough to get a parking spot before it fills up. As far as public transportation goes, there's a line that goes from Boston's north end station to Wakefield. After that, its either walking or take a local uber to come here. While the delivery experience of the North Ave Diner was good and orderly, probably the next time I'm in the area, I'll make a note to return. 5.0 stars for the overall experience. 4.0 stars for the food and service. 5.0 stars for the location and the delivery aspect of it. Everything you'd want from a local, no-frills diner. We had a group of 19 last Sunday right when heavy rains were starting from hurricane Henri. We were from all over the country having gathered for a funeral the day before. The staff accommodated us under the tent in back of the restaurant and had to deal with the pouring rain while serving us. They were wonderful and gracious and the food was absolutely delicious. This was the first time at North Ave Diner, it did not disappoint me and my wife. We wanted place with good tasting food, we hit the jackpot. I started with a cup of beef stew. The flavor was fantastic. I am always nervous about soups/stews being to salty, this was not. It was rich with nice bites of beef and potatoes. My wife had the chicken rice soup, also outstanding. It had a hint of lemon in the broth a good amount of chicken, very refreshing. I had the hot turkey san which with gravy and fresh fries. The gravy was creamy and not salty. Very much tasted homemade. My wife had the teriyaki chicken stir-fry. She said it was very good. The flavor was excellent. We ended our meal by bringing home 6 raisin oatmeal cookies. They were large and delicious. If you are in the area do stop by you will not be disappointed. I am a big fan of diners. The tuna salad had the flavor that is impossible to replicate at home with the perfect mix of celery. The fries were acceptable, but clearly food service as opposed to fresh cut. I went a bit later in the morning on a Thursday when it was basically empty, so I can't testify to how packed it gets before rush hour (being directly across from Wakefield commuter rail stop is super convenient).
