Early Harvest Diner in Wakefield, MA is a solid neighborhood breakfast spot with a small-to-medium-sized dining room and a good amount of seating. They offer regular table seating, counter seats, and booths. The booths, however, are pretty uncomfortable--despite having a cushion, you immediately feel the wooden board underneath when you sit down, which takes away from the experience a bit. We went around 11:00 AM on a Saturday and were seated quickly with no wait, though I can imagine on a busier morning there could be a decent wait time given the diner's size. The menu has a good variety, but pricing can be a little confusing. Some menu prices don't always reflect the final cost due to fluctuating egg prices. There is a sticker noting this, but it's easy to miss and may not be obvious to customers. We ordered the steak and eggs, which came out to $20 and was cooked nicely to a true medium rare. The hash browns weren't overdone and had a great crunch on the outside. The pancake we tried was very fluffy, and their iced coffee was genuinely delicious. We also ordered the Double Double, which also cost $20 and offered a decent portion of food for the price, along with sausage links as a side. They do offer real maple syrup for waffles or pancakes, though it costs extra. One thing I found to be a flaw is that the maple syrup and ketchup on the table had no labels--personally, I like knowing the brand or ingredients of what I'm eating. The same went for the hot sauce they offered; it was served in an unlabeled glass bottle. It tasted very similar to Frank's RedHot and had the same consistency, but it would be nice to know for sure. The staff is kind and attentive when it comes to taking your order and delivering food, but once the plates hit the table, check-ins are minimal. If you need something, you may have to flag someone down. Parking isn't bad since it's located in a plaza, and there's additional parking in the back if the main lot fills up. Overall, Early Harvest Diner is a nice place to grab breakfast with your family or significant other without breaking the bank. The food quality is solid, but the vibe could benefit from a refresh to feel a bit more cozy and modern. read more

My husband I went early one morning and we ordered an omelette to share and a single pancake as well! They were awesome and separated the omelette plate for us! It was so good! The potatoes I'm usually not a fan of anywhere but these were cooked and crisped to perfection! The pancake was just as delicious! A little pricey but what isn't today! Popped in for breakfast this morning on our way through town. Based on reviews, we thought it would be a good find and it was - customer service at the door was excellent. Our waitress was not the most pleasant but the rest of the supporting team were superb so for that reason, I'm not going to hold it against the establishment because all around the rest of our customer service experience was terrific. The food is good diner food. It's a diner so don't expect too much ambience. Just expect to be seated and to enjoy some food. I will say the food also arrived very timely. That's good to make out of. I highly recommend getting the patriot you will not regret it. It is an indulgence, but there's fruit involved so consider that Points for yourself sit down and enjoy really a nice fine. This place was cute and quaint - exactly what you're looking for in a diner. The place where your friends aunt works who loves talking to people. Our server was extremely sweet and clearly loved her job. Food was good! Nothing special for breakfast, but if you're looking for classic, solid, thick home fries, you're traditional omelette and toast, this will do it and with a smile. Some of their options did seem a bit pricey for breakfast - for example, the make your own omelette was $9 to start and $2 to add one ingredient like broccoli, $4 for a meat and I believe it was $1 or $2 for a cheese. Wouldn't be opposed to coming back by any means, lots of breakfast spots in the area though to check out. read more

We went for breakfast yesterday around 11. It's small inside, but they have plenty of tables. We were sat right away. They have a chalkboard with specials and make their own muffins and hot sauce! I got the triple double which comes with 2 eggs, a breakfast meat, home fries, and a pancake or French toast. I liked that they had sausage links and patties. And went with the chocolate chip pancake (although a $2 upcharge for chocolate chips is pretty stiff to me). The eggs and sausage were good. The home fries were beyond bland and needed sooooo much more seasoning to be enjoyable. I didn't waste my calories on them. The pancake was amazing! It was cooked perfectly and had the right amount of chocolate chips. My husband got the western omelette and it was a decent size with nice chopped up ingredients. We didn't have to wait too long on a Sunday morning which was nice. Both the host and waitress was friendly. They had a lot of tables and were pretty busy. They had a great blood orange juice. I got one pancake which was $7. The BYO omelette with spinach, cheese, mushroom and sausage was like $18 which is super expensive for a diner omelette in my opinion. Fresh brunch food with the most reasonable prices! We ordered the lox bagel sandwich, the corn beef hash (what they are famous for) and a gluten free pancake. The lox bagel sandwich was so tasty. The bagel tasted freshly made, big slices of lox and a thick spread of cream cheese with capers. One of the best bagel sandwiches I have had here. Food has yet to disappoint. This is so far my favorite place I've found in town for breakfast since we moved here four years ago. The service is always friendly and happy to accommodate any/all requests I've made or heard. They do a lot of business on weekend mornings but we are early risers so we are often some of the first in the door when we're out for breakfast. They've got delicious fresh squeezed juices, always a good selection of muffins available and are quick to refill your coffee cup. The place is clean and well lit, they often have a good playlist going usually and a lot of booth seating, which is my favorite option. Great find for the weekend trip. The food was fresh the coffee was hot and strong but not brunt! When I asked for water they gave me bottled water I didn't mind that at all. I drink ALOT of water so I had to ask for tap and ice because she kept bringing me bottled water. The food was very good and fresh. There was SO MUCH. It seems this place has some mixed reviews, but my first and more than likely only experience wasn't very pleasant. My order had been taken down incorrectly, (ordered a sandwich, not the wrap.) Both dishes are prepared differently with the Sandwich having "2 over hard eggs" and the Wrap having "3 scrambled eggs" When it was brought to the table, I asked if it could be brought back so I could have the Sandwich instead. They had also forgotten the side order of scrambled eggs for my Boyfriend. The sandwich was brought back, however the filling of the Wrap, 3 Scrambled Eggs w/ more Cheese loaded with Meat, was wedged between two slices of bread. Not remade with 2 over hard eggs & the extras stacked. Overly greasy / old taste to the meat.... Bussing service needs work. Our table after a 10 minute wait was still filthy. Used open napkins in the floor under the table and crumbs on the seat / table. Half eaten piece of egg on the floor.... Breakfast takeout isn't the same as dining in so I've been giving Early Harvest the benefit of the doubt. Finally became fully vaccinated and came in for breakfast. My order has been the same since they've opened, French toast a side of bacon and sausage. The French toast was very dry and overcooked. Butter and syrup did little to improve the flavor. The sausage used to be very good but they seem to be serving precooked frozen links now. The one saving grace was the order of bacon. As the restaurant was empty, I heard my waitress discussing with her co-worker that she had an adverse reaction to waxing herself the night before and her arms and hands were covered in rashes. Ordered omelette of the day which was an Italian omelette which contains prosciutto, basil, and mozzarella but when I received my dish, the prosciutto was not prosciutto but ham instead. Also, there was nothing spectacular with the dish and the toast that comes with it was burnt. Also, the waiter never came by to check up on us. He just took our order and never came back. If you want to try their food, avoid any kind of omelette because it's just average and it's made better at home. read more

A neighborhood diner with good hearty food straight from the local farms! I got the veggie wrap. Nice warm wrap, ooey gooey melted American cheese with fluffy scrambled eggs, sweet shallots, broccoli, mushroom and spinach. I winded up ordering a side of the home fries since the wrap wasn't enough for me. Wish it did come with a side-any side, toast even! My friend got the veggie omelette that came with home fries. It was pretty much the same ingredients as my wrap but it did lack the American cheese. Decent breakfast but the Nutella French toast was made with Hershey's syrup. Not happy! We are allergic to corn syrup in Hershey syrup! It said Nutella so didn't think we needed to confirm it. My boyfriend and I were going to go to our usual spot for breakfast but of course it was extremely busy, I said hey let's try something new! The name of this place and reviews had me hooked so we drove by to see if it was a line out the door, lucky for us, it was not! We had the option to sit at a table or the 'bar'. We opted for the 'bar' this day. My boyfriend and I ordered meals we typically order for breakfast and were not disappointed! He actually prefers this place over our usual now! We also tested out the corned beef hash, per the reviews, and it is so good! Tons of flavor. Highly recommend. We've lived in Wakefield for over two years, and I'm so mad at myself for only just now discovering this place! I was expecting it to be a divey kind of diner (not that there's anything wrong with that!), but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this place is actually really nice-looking on the inside! And the service is WAY friendlier than what I typically associate with diners. The menu was expansive, featuring both breakfast and lunch options, and they were just the right amount of busy (steady, but we had no problem grabbing at table) at around 1 PM on a Saturday. The menu featured some unique takes on brunch items (next time, I want to try the meat-stuffed French toast!), as well as dozens of classics. I was feeling breakfasty, so I ordered the Triple-Double which was essentially eggs (any style), your choice of bacon/sausage/ham (I went with bacon, because bacon always wins), home fries, and two pieces of french toast (either plain or with your choice of fruit). The meal took up the entirety of two plates, and left me stuffed for hours. The home fries in particular were extra-crispy and flavorful, just the way I like them. My husband went for the sandwich & soup combo; he got the pulled pork sandwich and the soup of the day - chicken, lemon, and rice. Both passed the test (though the pulled pork was quite messy!), and portions were very generous. The only two slight bummers were: 1) They were out of both their fresh orange juice AND their fresh grapefruit juice (I was definitely craving OJ to go with my brunch) - thankfully the fresh cider was tasty as well, and 2) My husband ordered fries, which were forgotten. To be fair, as soon as we saw how GINORMOUS the portions were that we received, we were fine just focusing on the food that we did have, and we immediately decided to let the fries go. I'm sure if we had mentioned the omission, our waitress would have immediately and apologetically brought us the fries (she was awesome!). We weren't charged for them though, and we couldn't even finish the food that we did have, so it all worked out for the best. If you like sweet, their pancake and waffle options are perfect. If you like lots of veggies in the morning, they have an omelette for that. Came here on a Saturday morning for breakfast with my girlfriend and it was pretty packed. The wait time wasn't that bad. They had a big waiting area that actually has seats to sit. The decor looked pretty nice. The food tasted pretty good. I liked their "Patriot" waffles. Big enough to share. Their pancake size was really big. Overall experience, food quality and seasoned good.
