    Combo #Dave's #3 1 Tender & 1 Slider w/ Fries - Hot
    Christina B.

This was seriously good chicken. The menu is on the smaller side so you're either going to get a slider (which is practically a full-sized sandwich) and/or a chicken tender (which is practically a whole chicken). I made the mistake of ordering the combo that included one slider and 1 tender. I was so full after just the sandwich, there's no way I could've finished both. It also comes with a slice of white bread so it was like double chicken, double bread and really enough for 2 people. I got the hot spice level which ended up being perfect. I do love spicy food but I was out shopping with friends so I wasn't trying to go too spicy. It did take about 10 minutes to get our order but everything came out piping hot and fresh.

My boyfriend and I were in the area and wanted to try, we are unfamiliar with the area and were scolded in the back alley by an employee for parking somewhere we shouldn't, and we had to figure out where proper parking was on our own. When we got in, service was just okay. We needed a few minutes to look over the menu, and she was extremely inpatient with us, despite us being the only guests there. I appreciate the vegetarian options, and was happy with my sandwich. I got medium and expected it to be spicier than what it was given the restaurant name. The cheese fries were great, and were also seasoned similar to the chicken. I was not a fan of the macaroni, but my partner was. It had too much of an y cheese flavor for me. Definitely get extra sides of their signature sauce, it's great! The space was very clean, and the decor was cute. This would definitely be a great spot for picture opportunities.

Dave's Hot Chicken is located conveniently in Broad Ripple. We walked in, and ordered our food at the counter. My first impression was that the employees did not want to be there as they didn't greet us and were not friendly. The menu consists of chicken tenders that can be ordered with buns or without. I got the #1 which was 2 chicken tenders, bread, and crinkle cut fries served with a small container of sauce. You can pick the level of heat you want your hot chicken to be. I also decided to order a milkshake as the meals don't come with drinks. They called our number and informed us that the shake machine was broken. Overall food was good, but nothing special. They had a lot of seating both indoors and outdoors.

Let's be honest. Delivery is never the perfect way to experience a restaurant. I think it's especially not the perfect way to experience a restaurant for the first time. However, I've been grateful that some friends have recently donated some GrubHub gift cards as I work through some health issues and spend more time than usual at home. It just so happens that today I was working from home and decided to order lunch delivered. After browsing options, I decided to check out Dave's Hot Chicken. I ordered a 2-Tender meal with fries. I also ordered a large chocolate shake. Again, delivery is weird. You inevitably pay more and yet almost as inevitably get a meal that doesn't measure up to a dine-in experience. While there are restaurants that do a pretty remarkable job of maintaining quality with delivery, the vast majority that I've experienced do not. My food arrived surprisingly quickly. It was in a nice container and still pretty darn warm upon arrival. I was impressed with the size of the tenders. The fry order was fairly standard with the fries being a smaller variation on crinkle-cut. Sadly, the chocolate shake did not arrive. I checked the receipt provided by Dave's and the chocolate shake was not listed (though was on my order and was paid for). While it's possible this was a GrubHub error, since it wasn't on the Dave's receipt and was on the GrubHub this seems like a restaurant entry error. Fortunately, GrubHub is refunding me for the lack of a shake. I ordered my tenders with a medium heat. It was definitely on the lesser side of medium and I had no issues with it (which I worried about considering I'd intentionally ordered the shake to balance things out). The dry rub was okay, but as a slightly spastic paraplegic I definitely found it on the messy side. I would consider it a solid 3-star, though I would also likely order it again. The fries were pretty decent, though nothing exceptional. Fries simply don't deliver well and these were solid mid-range for delivery. Overall, this was a decent meal but I can't deny being a bit disappointed. Even with my refund, we're talking about $25 or so when you toss in everything and it's definitely not a meal I would do again with delivery. If I were in Broad Ripple, on the other hand, I would probably still stop in. For now, 3-stars pretty much sums up the experience perfectly.

Dave's #4 1 Slider with Fries with a side of Mac and cheese

We ordered a mild slider and it was good and loved the fries. We also tried a side of mac and cheese. It wasn't the best I've ever had but still a decent mac and cheese. Service was great! Travis was very helpful and kind. Ambiance is cool love the fun graffiti walls. They have a big dinning area and a nice patio to enjoy your meal inside or outside. Highly recommend checking out this place for a good chicken sandwich if your in the area! Cheers!

Placed an order online on a Friday afternoon for lunch pickup. Menu is pretty easy and minimal with four options of chicken sliders or tenders. You can also choose your heat level. I went with mild. Food was ready at the given pick up time. The meal was just okay. Nothing special or extraordinary. Tenders were a decent size. Mild spice rub had just the right amount of kick. Dipping sauce was good. They also offer shakes, mac and cheese, and kale slaw.

    Peter P.

Meh. The Medium wasn't even the slightest bit hot. It tasted. Exactly like the Extra Mild. And the milkshake was just sad. I expected hand-scooped ice cream and a blender. What I got would have made McDonald's proud. My vanilla shake came straight out of a machine behind the cash register. I'm a bit of a Nashville hot chicken aficionado, and this place is near the bottom of the pecking order. They only serve chicken 2 ways: chicken sandwich or chicken tenders. There's no bone-in option.

I stopped in for lunch over the weekend. It's broad ripple so the parking situation is rough. Add in the street out front is under construction. The staff was friendly and helpful. The menu is super simple and the dining room was clean. I ordered one tender and one slider. These are massive tenders! It's more like a filet. I did not try the slaw. The food was good. They are loaded with seasoning and it's a bit overwhelming. Also even the mild was pretty hot. If you enjoy hot chicken I would check this place out.

Service was wonderful! The restaurant was super clean and the wait wasn't too bad at all. I was just not a fan of the flavors. But that is subjective so if you want to try Indy's hot chicken offerings then add this to your list. If you like dry rub, ignore my post. This is the place for you! There is layer upon layer, upon layer, upon layer of dry rub packed with chili powder covering this chicken. Not a dusting, this powder is layers deep! French fries were good. Seems like they also season the fries with a dry rub that is used on the chicken, but it was a light dusting more tolerable for my taste. Cheesy fries come with a drizzle of cheese on the top layer of fries. Kale cole slaw would not be something I purchased again. It lacked flavor. I thought the size of meal was great! Came with pickles and bread as well! They also serve sauce on the side to dip your chicken or fries in that reminds be of a Mac sauce and that was tasty.

This place is popping with all of their bright graffiti street art inside and plenty of seats for everyone. There is a pretty straightforward and limited menu, but no one should go home hungry because the portions are generous. The fried chicken here is absolutely fantastic with great flavor. There are several different levels of heat you may choose from so there's something for everyone to pick from. Everyone in our family was raving about it! We are very excited to have you here in Indy. Thanks for coming! **** Four stars instead of five because our side dishes, kale slaw and Mac n cheese, were under seasoned. I'm hoping this improves as they continue service. All things chicken were definitely not lacking seasoning though! :)

    Laura S.

What a let down. The chicken wascaked with dry rub that tasted like chili powder(that was the mild). Had the light mild too and again just caked with dry rub. The chicken was moist but the outside coating was pretty disgusting. The fries had a little seasoning that was nice. But the cheese fries had no seasoning and some cheese drizzled lightly on them... not worth paying extra. The plain fries were better, actually the best part of the meal. The Kale slaw was horrible. Like room temp bland mayo on Kale and cabbage slaw. There was NO spice no seasoning. Again a waste of money. I will stick with Joellas

Trying a new spot in Broadripple

Dave's hot chicken was different from the other hot chicken places I had tried. Dave's has a dry rub on their chicken it isn't dipped in sauce. They have a large range of heat -- I went with the mild and that was enough for me. It had a nice kick but my mouth wasn't on fire. But if you want the fire go for the extra hot or reaper. My mom went with me and she got the no spice and was happy with it. I went with the slaw instead of the fries. It was really good. The chicken was tender and juicy. I thought the price was a little high but the portions were big. I ate twice off of my meal. I think you have to add Dave's Hot Chicken to your list of new chicken spots in Indy so that your taste buds get to check out the different varieties of hot chicken.

This is not your traditional hot chicken - it's more dusty and has kind of a sweet allspice like flavor. The chicken was very juicy and the tenders were huge, probably a full breast or at least a half. Don't be scared to go up the heat scale. We started with medium and wished we would have gone further. The fries are heavily seasoned. We were served almost immediately and the restaurant itself is nice and clean. I would recommend!

Whatever they do, (brine whatever) the flavor is deep in the meat, including the breast. Absolutely fantastic. My only advice is if you find a raw jalapeno to hot, go one level down in spice. Unless you can set an eat raw Serranos, don't pay .$50 to go spicier. Who would have thought, amazing hot chicken, Indy.

I felt that there was a sweetness to the flavor that I liked, which I could see not everyone enjoying. There is also a hot dusting over the french fries which exacerbates any discomfort people are having from the heat. There really wasn't anything to cool it down. A green chili sauce, more like a relish is served on the side. It is very spicy. The beef was well spiced, fork tender and just dreamy. I was also surprised by the jackfruit curry-something I've never had but liked with the spiciness of the beef-I did use a lot of the green chili sauce.
