First time trying Dave's... We ordered the chicken slider and tender meal, then a side of Mac & cheese. I got the light mild and my boyfriend got the medium. The light mild had no heat and the medium had very little. Honestly, I don't handle heat that well, so if I can tolerate it and you like heat, then maybe go higher than a medium. With that said, it has a lot of seasoning on it, but it still felt under-seasoned with the salt. Maybe they don't salt it much because it has the sauce on the side, but the sauce wasn't that good, so if you don't want to eat it with that, maybe try it with ketchup or ask for some salt. The fries however, were really yummy and had the perfect crisp. The Mac cheese was too runny and the pasta was too soft for my liking. For our drink we got the peach iced tea, and oh my, that was yummy!! Overall, it was pretty good. Not sure if I'll go out of my way to eat it again, but maybe, if I'm in the area. read more

This place is awesome. Very similar to hot chicken found in Nashville, TN. The food takes a while to be cooked, but it's always hot and fresh. I previously visited Dave's Hot Chicken and had a good experience but with some flaws. However, customer service reached out so I visited Dave's Hot Chicken again. This time, everything was so much better, from the service--which was already superb from the beginning, to the food. We ordered two meals of Dave's #2: one with two hot, and one with a hot and extra hot. We also ordered a side of Kale Slaw with them. Because the spice levels aren't where it should be, everything hot and under doesn't taste as great as it should be. However, if you'd like to have a good amount of flavor from your slider, start by ordering the extra hot level. At this point, the spice still hasn't kicked in yet, but the flavor is completely different from what you'd get with the hot. As for the Kale Slaw, it was a bit dry but still delicious. The customer service was SUPERB, possibly the best I've ever encountered. There was no wait, and the food came out promptly. The staff there was so friendly and kind, ensuring we had what we needed to make the best of our stay. Overall, this past visit really changed my outlook on Dave's Hot Chicken. The staff, environment, and food were all great. I'd definitely come back to visit Dave's Hot Chicken. read more

$&@#ING EPIC! I don't know how I avoided this chain for so long, but leave it to the proximity by TCU to pull me into a fried chicken restaurant (it's either fried chicken or pizza parlors). I'll spell it to you this way; I tried Dave's on Tuesday for lunch and have been back every single day of my work week. And I wasn't the only one. Several TCU faculty are regulars as well as class man. Even during the summer where students are scarce, construction is plenty, and things are hot, this place is jumping. I get the Lite Mild rub on my Dave's #1 because of my whimpy mangina for spicy food, and it's plenty kickin'. Like others have said, two tenders is a lot because it's full breast meat, but get what you want. I'll do a slider on odd days which is the same huge dry rub breast in a bun with slaw and pickles. They give you honey and the house sauce (paprika mayo dip) on top of bread with a bunch of seasoned fries. Not heart healthy but definitely gut filling. Two things: you will get sleepy thirty minutes later. Between the generous portions and carb loading, a nap is in short order. Second thing is you will crave chicken tenders for the next few days, even if you had these guys all week. They're not the cheapest (being close to campus causes a $4 markup on most places), but they are spectacular. And finally, a shoutout to the amicable young hostess at this location who remembers just about everyone who comes in here and is extra sweet to the customers. She not only greets others with a smile but walks the lobby to see if people need condiments/towels. Customer service is always a b!tch when you're young, and she's killing it. read more

I've visited the other location in FW and this location just didn't impress or wow me. The prices are expensive, I think for the slider combo it came out to $16 or something!! The chicken didn't seem as big as the other location. It's a tasty slider but for the price - more chicken would be nice. I really like the buns they use. Fries were good as is the Dave's sauce. The employees gave us free stickers with our order (which was nice) but weren't as attentive as at the other location. I think this store has only opened in the past week or so - so I'm hoping they sort their kinks out - good location for the TCU students - apart from the prices!! read more

This was the first Dave's location I had ever been to. Honestly, I thought it was pretty good, and the spice levels were spot on. I got medium for both my sandwich and my tender, giving them both a good spice but nothing overbearing. I also like the sauce that the fries came with and how the fries were seasoned as well. #4 with Mac & Cheese First time here and I'm super impressed! We said it was our first time here and the manager Tiffany preceded to give us 4 drinks on the house! We then went to sit and heard someone ordering cheese fries, so we went back and asked to add cheese onto our side of fries and they said don't worry about paying!! Definitely the royal treatment for our first time. The food came very quickly and was SOOOO good. The extra hot is just enough heat but the reaper is really hot I didn't finish my chicken my husband had to finish it for me LOL but it comes with pickles and the Dave's sauce it's pretty creamy and good, the fries are crispy and the seasoning on them is very tasty! For fast food chicken, this place was great. There's just chicken on the menu, in the form of chicken sliders, chicken strips, or a combination. I love hot, I love chicken, so it's a given that I would like Dave's! There was only one issue, it was the smallest chicken sandwich I've ever had! We live and learn but I guess I should've paid more attention when ordering. They do call them "sliders" so it's my fault. I guess what confused me was the price. For 1 "slider" and fries my total was like $10 or $12. I was scared to death to order a drink because I didn't have time to take out a loan to complete the purchase. I do give Dave's 4 Stars because my Dave's Microscopic Chicken Sandwich was really good even if it was only 3 bites! I'm now considering taking money out of my retirement account so next time I want to stop by Dave's I might be able to get 2 of Dave's Microscopic Chicken Sandwiches and maybe a drink? read more

Went here for the first time after seeing so much about it. It lived up to the billing! The food was super good, and I love the different levels of heat. I like hotter tastes while my wife is more of a mild person, so this fit us perfectly. The chicken is absolutely delicious. The sliders are great, especially if you add cheese. Dave's Hot Chicken was created by best friends Dave Kopushyan, Arman Oganesyan, and Tommy and Gary Rubenyan. Dave, a chef trained in Thomas Keller's (French Laundry) organization set out to create the perfect Hot Chicken by searching, tasting, and frying. The four friends scrounged up $900 to put a tiny stand in an East Hollywood parking lot. The menu was simple, and chicken was the star. And what chicken it is! Sourced and prepared to be the juiciest and most tender imaginable with each piece topped with Dave's own mix of spices ranging from "Mild" to "The Reaper". Arman created Instagram buzz and the lines began to grow. Two nights later, Eater/LA showed up to see what the fuss was about. The next morning's headline read "East Hollywood's Late Night Chicken Stand Might Blow Your Mind". Almost instantly, the lines stretched around the block. A year later, the boys had the money to open a shop in a hip strip-mall with de_cor by local street artists, where the crowds continued to grow with wait-times of an hour and more. From there, the incredibly craveable "Hot and Spicy" varieties have created a cult following with rave reviews across the U.S. and Canada.

Established in 2017.

In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept -- take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw -- they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long. After 6 months of running the pop-up with long lines, the team took the plunge and opened their first physical store in January 2018 in a sleepy strip center in East Hollywood. They give you a generous portion of fries though. The sweet potato fries seem to be the popular choice. Everyone had them on their table. I will have to try those. Overall a very good visit! Perfect balance of sweetness, umami, and heat. The other flavor was chessling. Again, perfect balance; this time, it was between rich cheesiness and a right amount of sweetness as well. I highly recommend both flavors. Now, this is just about the flavor itself. The meat itself was so tender and juicy. In the most appetizing, and hopefully not weird (but inevitably weird) way to describe it, it's almost as if I just caught the chicken with my bare hands and took a bite out of it. However, instead of getting feathers in my mouth, I was met with the most satisfyingly crispy exterior. What was specifically amazing about it was the fact that you could distinctly taste the tender meat on the inside separate from the crispy crunch on the outside. This was one of those meals where once I was done, I was in a complete coma afterwards. I woke up the next day in my bed about an hour or two before I had to get to work. Even though I was in a short vegetative state, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
