1.0 star rating 4/23/2017 Previous review I had my car towed to Dave's Auto Center in Centerville thinking it would be a good choice for repair because I already knew I needed engine work and being a machine shop that I was assured had millions of dollars of equipment and 28 years of experience, that this would be a good choice. I was traveling to Salt Lake from Colorado when my car broke down. The first fee told to me was 130$ diagnostic fee which if I decided to do work with them would be applied toward the repairs. At this point I am on my trip and not in the state nor have I met Dave or Miles in person. The diagnosis comes back that a bolt in my crank case broke and had pushed out a gasket in my oil pan area. This was a confirmation of a first mechanics diagnosis. At this point Miles tells me that this will be a 4300$ repair as my engine has to be removed to do the work, so removing and reinstallation of the engine is 3300$ plus a 1000$ for the repairs. I do not have a written estimate sent to me but I agree to the inflated prices to have the work done so when I fly back into Salt Lake, I can pick up my car and drive home to Colorado. Miles then tells me I have to put down a 2000$ deposit which I do, leaving me with a 2300$ balance when the work is complete. Three days after agreeing to this, Dave calls me and tells me that after completely disassembling my engine he says that my engine needs to be remanufactured and this will cost me 6500$. I tell him I do not have 6500$ and that I never authorized him to disassemble my engine and please could he just do the repairs we agreed upon for 4300$ and he flat out refuses. He tells me that he cannot let me out the door for less than 5800$. Once again I say that I want the repairs done that I agreed to and he refuses on the grounds he could not warranty his work. How can you not warranty 4300$ worth of work? I tell him I will call the next day. At this point I decide that I am going to have my car towed away from his lot, he tells me that he is keeping the whole 2000$ deposit which I had paid for repairs to be done and all he did was tear my engine apart, and so begins the crazy town harassment and manipulation of trying to get me to either do the repairs with him for a new price of 5300$ and or Miles in the solution department tells me if I sign over the title of my car, that they would refund me 400$. He offers this solution because he says to me he does not understand why I am going to drive all the way there for a car that does not work and asks what I am going to do with the car. I tell him it is none of his business. Miles tries desperately to get me to give up on my car and even tells me there has been some damage done to my car during the process of taking my engine out. I tell him I will be there on Friday, April 21 at 4pm to pick up my car and he tells me he will go over the damage with me when I get there. When I arrive to get my car with my friend, who works in the automotive industry and was going to inspect the car before we took it, he goes into the office and Miles tells him to drive back into the impound yard. Miles then leaves as he does not want to come and face me and Dave and 2 of his employees come out. Dave will not look at me or talk to me. My friend discovers that the hood is not attached and I ask Dave if he will attach the hood for transport. He will not look at me or answer me, he is trying to walk around me and so I ask him again and he mutters sure. Dave and my friend then go to attach the hood and I begin inspection of the outside of my car and open doors to find everything from my engine compartment shoved in the back of my car. The most eye opening aspect of this experience, as I already knew that Dave was a sociopath and pathological liar and that Miles was his minion in all of his evil, was there was another Mtisubishi Montero Sport sitting right next to mine. It quickly became obvious to me that the reason they were trying to make me give up on my car and sign them my title over was so they could fix mine up with the parts car they had and sell it to make even more money off of me. When I was preparing to pop the hood of my car for my friend to inspect, Dave and his 2 employees got behind my car and began pushing the car into me to push it onto the trailer. When I yelled stop, Dave yelled louder at his 2 employees to keep pushing while I stood in front of the car trying to stop them. My friend yelled at Dave "what are you doing? there is a woman standing in front of that car and you are pushing it into her." Dave at this point stopped and took his employees and went back into the shop telling us we were on our own. Dave never came back out, nor did Dave never give me a written report, estimate, receipt of my payment for the repairs, NOTHING!!! He lied to me, he stole from me, he manipulated me to get me to sign him over the title of my car. Miles and Dave are sociopathic con artists. This was a nightmare of an experience. read more

My experience with Dave's Complete Auto Service was excellent! I drive a 2022 Chevy Silverado 3500HD L5P Duramax. At 115,000 miles I had Dave's shop install an Insane Diesel bypass filter and a Banks lower oil pan. It was also time for a coolant flush. I called Dave's shop on April 29 and spoke with Aubrey. She answered all my questions and treated me with kindness and respect. My appointment was made with the understanding that I was driving in from Denver on Wednesday to drop off my truck Thursday morning. We communicated via txt or phone over the next 4 weeks. Aubrey was patient with my inquiries and provided realistic expectations for additional services I asked about. I was updated frequently on when parts arrived and for my pending appointment date. The morning of my appointment I checked Apple Maps for how long of a drive it would be and noticed that Yelp had Dave's Complete Auto Center at a low 2 stars. I looked into the reviews only to quickly see that the customers leaving the poor reviews must have posted their experience on the wrong thread. There is another Dave's shop in the area. If that wasn't the case, it was apparent that those that left a poor review had been in a stressful vehicle situation that was easy to blame a mechanic for what was most likely due to a lack of maintenance on the part of the owner. If you don't brush and floss regularly you can expect the Dentist to report that you have a cavity. Either way, speculation on why poor reviews were reported did not prevent me from taking my truck in for service. I met Aubrey and finished up the service agreement of the work we previously discussed. I was impressed by Aubrey's meticulous detail of the notes taken from our conversations. I asked to add a diagnostic boost leak test along with the other services and if it would be possible to show me the location of the AC condenser drain tube. All my questions were answered and I left feeling like I made the right choice of shop for my truck. Aubrey called me around 2:00pm and asked if I would be able to come see the work completed and to meet Jake to show me where the AC drain tube was located while my truck was up on the lift. Jake showed me his professional work and explained all that was completed. The drain tube was not in a location easily accessible without unnecessary effort. However, Jake had a solution that we agreed would accomplish the task. A short while later my truck was ready. The price for the work done was fair and reasonable. Quality and expertise comes at a cost that represents the value of the work performed. Dave's shop provides that quality. And I left knowing it was honest work completed. I would highly recommend Jake for his mechanic skills. Aubrey will no doubt continue to excel in her role as a service advisor. Should my truck require any services in the future, I'll trust Dave's Complete Auto Center. read more

Why would you want to go anywhere else? As a responsible car owner I always be sure to get my regular scheduled service out of the way. I often travel out of state and had a scary experience a few months back. Fast forward to me heading up north out of state and I see these bright neon trees in Centerville. I don't know what stood out but I said to myself they seem local lets see what it is like. I have never looked back. Dave and his sons are honest hard working people. They couldn't believe that anyone at the dealer did service like that or let me drive away knowing I was heading out of state with a wind skirt barely hanging on with two screws of the wrong type!! Having just left the dealer being told that those are special order and would take a few days to get in. Miles showed me to the waiting room and I heard him get right to work. Without a doubt they have a customer for life and I refer anyone I know who wants real honest work done. To please give Dave and Miles a ring before going elsewhere. A deal isn't what you want it , it is quality and comfort knowing it was done right the first time. P.S. They also have like the coolest system where they don't tell you there is a problem. Thanks to the guys here, instead of selling my Wrx months ago, I am driving it around with a completely new, smooth engine. I luckily found Dave's after looking around A LOT, and hitting so many dead ends elsewhere. When my car began acting up, I attempted to tackle the issues myself, but realized way too far in the process that I really couldn't do it all. I called in and explained my situation to the guys here, and within two days, my car was picked up and hauled off, efficiently and properly worked on for the next few weeks, and I was done! I have been super happy with the work done to my car, and I gotta say- I have never dealt with more personable guys than those working at Dave's. I have a warranty through the shop, so I have been up here a few times in the last month to get my oil changed, ask questions, etc., and I am always happy to make the trip. Even if I just call in, all my questions are actually answered, warranty actually backed, and I really receive customer SERVICE. (What a thought...) These guys know their stuff, and are always happy to help someone who may not understand cars as well. Overall impressed, no complaints, and I would recommend coming here to anyone! read more

I'm deeply disappointed and frustrated by my recent encounter with Dave's Auto Center My dissatisfaction stems from an investment of approximately $1,000 in inspection and testing expenses, coupled with the ultimate outcome of Dave's Auto Center refusing to undertake any repairs on my vehicle. Their explanation for this refusal was an alleged inability to source the necessary parts. However, a cursory Google search reveals the availability of replacement or rebuilt parts for my vehicle, making this excuse appear disingenuous at best. My discontent further extends to the service advisors at Dave's Automotive, who, in my experience, excelled at salesmanship but failed to deliver on their commitments. It's disheartening when promised services cannot be fulfilled. I urge potential customers not to be swayed solely by Dave's Automotive's impressive website and modern facilities. Instead, I highly recommend exploring other automotive shops in the area. It is my hope that sharing this feedback will help others make informed decisions when choosing where to entrust their automotive needs. read more

I hate to admit it, but I have a 15 year old Town and Country mini van with over 200,000 miles that I have become attached to. These guys have performed handy services on it for two years, oil changes and routine maintenance, to keep it clunking along. This last visit, I went in because the drivers side power window motor quit. they advised me to consider if I wanted to spend more money on an old vehicle because the brake pads were also worn, the tires would soon need to be replaced, and they wanted to make sure I considered the potential for other repairs with the high mileage. Ha ha, caused me to consider my options! I decided it was finally time to part ways with my old friend rather than put more money into her. Bottom line, I appreciate their help in making a wise choice. (And it did turn out to be wise, but that's a long story!) I will definitely return for services on my new car. Thanks guys! read more

Dave's Auto has been one of the most honest, accurate, and advanced shops I have ever had the priviledge to deal with. I had purchased a vehicle that would be considered an actual Lemon. I took the car to Dave's Auto where they supplied us with nothing but the best of service. I would have been skeptical about the diagnostic results however they took video proof of what was happening with the car, documented every contact we had with one another, and even showed proof of the worn down parts, all of this was verified by my brother who is also a Master Mechanic located in California. Dave is very intelligent and a straight forward man, he will tell you how it is and what needs to be done. Miles is a paperwork genius. As I stated before I have documentation of every interaction we had and what work was authorized. These guys have earned a customer for life. read more

I think I rated this shop a few years back when I took my last car in, but I feel it's only appropriate that I say my two cents again. I just got my 2012 mazda3 back from them this week and I was just as impressed with the whole experience as I was a few years back! Even though it was a minor AC issue and I hadn't seem them in years, Miles, the guy who runs the front entrance desk, remembered me and treated me like an old friend. I am impressed by the way they treat their customers and I think they deserve a good review because of that. I plan on continuing to take them my vehicles whenever they need service and I hope they continue to stay in business! Two months ago, my wife's car (Audi) broke down... We were looking into even buying a new vehicle because we thought the repair would costmore than the car itself. A friend recommended this repair shop, so I told them about the problem and he made an appointment for the repair. We drove all the way from AZ, and we're glad ee did! There were issues with the spark plugs, ignition coils, and fuel injectors. They also found worn brake pads and discs. After the car was fixed, we got it back clean and in good working condition, and now my wife can drive safely. Dave and his sons are the one stop wonderland shop in all of Utah. Miles now runs the show from what I gather but I am getting the same wonderful service I have come to expect with each service. If you want dealer quality with an experience that is affordable and transparent come here. I have yet to run into a shop in my state wide travels that has this awesome internal website for seeing actual detailed photos of symptoms or evidence of an issue or preventative maintenance to consider. Had a disaster on Christmas Eve that left us stranded. Received an astronomical quote for repairs from a dealership in Orem and had to figure out an alternative. Dave's Auto Center is a place where our family had gone in the past, and it was one of six different shops I tried. Dave's was the most honest and helpful to deal with. I knew from the beginning that I was being treated fairly and I was given a reasonable turn around time of two days for the repairs to be complete. Saved over 600 dollars on the deal and I feel comfortable recommending them to anyone who needs in depth repairs on any of their autos. read more

I was very impressed with the service I received on my car here. I was a little hesitant after reading reviews on Yelp. But after looking through Google I decided to go for it. The service was tremendous as well as how I was treated. I know nothing about cars and they were very straightforward, and honest about the problems and prices. Very happy with the service I received at Dave's. I recently took my car in for an AC repair. The technicians diagnosed the problem, sent pictures, and explained the problem in terms that I understood. Additionally, they discovered the radiator was plugged. None of the other shops I took my car to mentioned this problem. Because they sent pictures, I knew they were being honest. It solved my AC problems! Now that it's getting hot, my AC is working better than ever. Fantastic service! I will be recommending them to all of my friends! read more

Unprofessional business run by an unjust man looking to extort as much cash from helpless people. Terrible experience after my car was towed from an accident by one of Dave's drivers. No customer hospitality, extraordinarily high costs, and a very sleazy owner. He reminds me of the devil's advocate. I really don't have anything food to say about this place or this person. I've had so many previous issues with my car until I brought it to Dave's complete auto. They were able to diagnose the problem and actually fix it. On top of it, the customer service was outstanding. They made me feel like they had known me for years and they did not put me through the ringer.
