If I could give this company 1,000,000 stars I would right now. Our transmission had an issue (after being replaced in a different state in May) as we were leaving Salt Lake City to head home after a two week road trip. With 3 kids, no idea how we would get home and in general what we were going to do, I am beyond grateful that we had AAA tow the car, off the 215 freeway, to J & G transmissions. James, the owner, was knowledgeable and extremely quick in assessing the situation (of the car and of our family). He lent us a car to drive to get lunch while his team assessed, fixed and double checked the car. His daughter Amber is a saint, providing coloring books, drawing supplies, a tidy coffee bar and best of all, otter pops just when we needed them. She kept the experience positive and kept our hopes up. I cannot believe how quickly they fixed our mini-van and how wonderful they were. Priceless. Businesses like this are special and really uncommon. read more

I just left J & G auto and they were so nice and professional! My car recently had trouble accelerating from a complete stop and I was really worried I might have to look into buying a new car. I went to Les Schwab Tires and they referred me to P K Auto Repair. P K Auto Repair found 7 different error messages, 5 with the acceleration position sensor and 2 with the transmission. They replaced the sensor for $261.94 and it didn't make the transmission error messages go away but the other 5 messages disappeared. P K didn't want to work on other things I mentioned until the transmission was looked at (in case it will total the car) and they recommended me to J & G Auto. When I got there, they tested my car right away, got the error codes and said it seemed like there wasn't enough power getting through, then he tested the fuses in the control panel and one of them was blown. He proceeded by replacing the fuse and taking the car on a test drive. When he got back, he said,"It's all fixed!" I asked how much this would cost me, he waved me off with a smile and said,"Not a cent! If the fuse goes out again, bring it back and we'll have to look into this again, but you are good to go!" Amazing service and I am very glad I went to them and definitely will return if I have future transmission problems. read more

My car got stuck in reverse. Called J&G, had it towed to them at noon, fixed by 3 and it was that easy. The employees were unbelievably kind, nice and joyful to visit with. The mechanic was great and explained the issues, they paid for the tow bill and then I paid them. One less transaction to make. Amazing experience all around. I had AAMCO do a transmission flush a month ago on a different car, and they tried to upsell me on $1000 more work than needed to be done after having the car for 2 days to do an hour worth of work. Be very wary of this company. My partner called almost 3 weeks ago and made an appointment to get work done on a 95 suzuki. Talked with a tech on the phone, explained the problem and was told to bring it in on 8/11 and drop off between 7:30-8. He called the day before to confirm and was told he was on the schedule. After loading and towing it there some elderly man came up, after we'd sat there while he moved cars around, and said they didn't work on suzukis, hasn't in years. No hello, nothing. He went inside with the man and then was told he wasn't on their schedule. We checked the number he'd called to make sure it was j&g he'd called and surprise, it was. Very unprofessional and lousy customer service. Stay away. read more

Absolutely blown away at how I was treated!! I brought my car in to have a FREE diagnostic on the transmission. Unfortunately the bill to fix it was more than what the car is worth and a little more than what I could afford. When I went to pick up my car I was given a bill which I never agreed to and never spoke about. I was told the day I brought it in that it was FREE and any charges would be discussed before anything was done. When my boyfriend and I said we wouldn't pay because that was never agreed upon, we got yelled and cursed at to take my car, get off his property and never come back. I have NEVER in my life been treated this way by a company. I will NEVER bring my cars or refer anyone to this place!! If I could give 0 stars, I would. read more

I needed a routine and scheduled transmission service on my Lexus. I was cautious of having service on my automatic transmission by anyone other than a shop that I had used for years , but they were out of business (retirement). So with a recommendation from my mechanic (Glens Auto) I decided to try J& G. I was prepared to watch the service to ensure the required filter change and inspection of the pan. I brought my truck to them and paid for a new transmission. After picking the vehicle up, the transmission quit. I returned it and had them re-do it. This happened two other times. After taking it back the last time they refused to fix it and wouldnt give me a refund! Its obvious to me that they dont know what they are doing and ripped me off! Had my transmission go out after another shop installed a shift kit. Theu were able to rebuild it and upgrade all the parts i needed for heavy towing. Very happy with their work, service and price. James and Brett awesome to work with and very knowledgeable. read more
