I spoke to Mario at Freeway Transmission and he ball-parked their trans rebuild at nearly $1,000 less than the dealer.

This was the first repair that was needed outside of my warranty and outside of VW. These guys were honest and straightforward about what was wrong and the cost and the recommendations they provided. They were responsive and communicated to me about the timeline in which it would be completed, when the part was delayed a day, they made sure I knew and I never had to call them for an update. Stress of a broken down car was as minimal as it could be and I will definitely return as the need arises. Thanks so much!!!

This is one of the first negative reviews I've ever written for a business, and I'm doing so after…read moremuch careful consideration because although I feel truly wronged, I dont want to make trouble for anyone. That said, having just made the first of many credit card payments for work I never would have had done given the full scope of what my vehicle needed, I feel compelled to prevent this from happening to anyone else. While the actual work done here seems fairly competent, the diagnostic process seems about as accurate as playing darts blindfolded. I brought my car in because it was creaking misfiring, and the check engine light was on. I told them that I believed my engine mounts were worn out and that I also needed a diagnoses for the misfiring. They told me that the cause for the misfiring was likely that my spark plugs and ignition coils were worn out, because that usually happens around 100k miles and my vehicle was past that. I agreed to have them replaced along with new engine mounts, to the tune of $2,600. I was told that after this my vehicle would be like a totally different car. The very next day, my car misfired again and the check engine light came back on. When I brought it back, they informed me that they don't have any way of knowing this fo sure, but I probably actually had a blown head gasket. I brought my car to a different mechanic shop who did a full and complete diagnostic from bumper to bumper and took photos of everything wrong with the car- from a blown head gasket to a leaking transmission to almost completely worn wheel bushings and a host of other problems totaling over $8,200 in addition to the $2,600 I had already paid at Red Rock Auto. Had I known this in the first place, I never would have paid $2,600 on a doomed old van that needed almost $11,000 in work done. I had to buy a new van and that $2,600 would have really helped with the down payment. I'm tempted to say that I feel duped, but I don't think there was any malice or fraud going on- just general laziness or incompetence in the diagnostic process that very negatively affected me.

I was referred by my mechanic to 2 other shops, but I did some extra research and decided on going here. Gordon at the front desk helped me out on a Friday. I walked in and I was told an appointment is recommended, but if I wanted to leave the car today maybe a technician could take a look at it by end of day. It's $150 to do a diagnostic and that $150 goes towards your estimate if something needs to be fixed. Most definitely Monday I would get an estimate. So I left it over the weekend. Gordon called me Monday to hit me up with the details. He was gracious enough to explain it to me multiple times so I understood. I then researched common problems with my car's year and model. Sure enough there were quite a few complaints on exactly what Gordon said I needed fixed. Which was the center bearing of the driveline. It was worn out causing the driveline to wobble around and it needed to be fixed sooner than later. Unfortunately Gordon explained the part does not come alone. You have to buy the whole driveline that comes with the center bearing. (These corporate bastards lol) He also explained that the part was in stock at the dealership, so they must know this is a problem and happens, but aren't doing anything about it like a recall. I decided to go ahead and fix it. The car was done by Tuesday afternoon. Upon pickup Gordon had the old driveline out, so I could see exactly what they fixed. My experience here was great. I would definitely come back again.

There were only a few people working at the shop, but they seemed to be eager and enjoying their work. This usually translates to a pleasant interaction. Leaders teach by example and set the tone at work. Their lead was both professional and friendly. The oil change was very quick, as expected. The transmission service took some extra time, so after the oil change, they moved my car to another working lane. The lead was able to focus on my car while the rest of the crew kept at the oil changes. They do state inspection and emissions testing! They did two emissions jobs and probably 3 other oil changes in the time I was there. They kept a really good pace going. I had a great interaction at the counter, and was even offered a little coupon/discount to help with the combined cost. I will be back again. And I'll get my state inspections and license plate sticker done here, too!

After driving for two hundred plus, miles, several engine lights lit up, as the vehicle had leaked most of its oil. Fortunately, we had the vehicle towed to an authorized dealership, and the problem was solved before any serious damage. The dealership charge $280 for the diagnosis and replacement of the oil and securing the filter. When we addressed this problem with Jiffy Lube they, again, were extremely polite, but were unable to offer a refund, or possible compensation beyond a gift card for a future oil change. Unfortunately, Jiffy Lube is off our "buy list."
