They did a great job on a PPI (pre-purchase inspection). We didn't buy that vehicle because they found so many problems with it. Brought a 2nd car in to them for the PPI. Didn't find any major issues, just scheduled maintenance. We bought that car. The next day the check engine light came on. We went back and there was an issue that was missed because the previous owner cleared the codes (or had someone else do it). They made the repair in 15 minutes free of charge because they missed it. Charged me $90.00 for an oil change, tried to charge me over $1,000.00 for a single wheel bearing assembly replacement. FIrst time I went in with an error code they proceeded to ignore it, turns out my transmission was going out. These guys have both ripped me off (on several occasions) and the last time I went there they charged me about $400.00 just to LOOK at not doing any work on just LOOK at my 2010 GMC Terrain. I took my 11 year old Prius to this shop to get checked out. I was told by another shop that it was going to need extensive work. They were so kind and checked all the things that the other shop said i would need done. Out of the 5-6 items the other shop said i needed to have done...they said i only needed 1 things fixed. They even were so kind as to bring us out and show us some of the different colors of fluids...and that they were well within range and didn't need replacing. My daughter was on a road trip from Oregon to Oklahoma and had a transmission fault show up on her Ford Focus. This was a Friday, and she took it into Viking Automotive. TL;DR They could've tried to scare me into doing a super expensive repair. Instead they were honest, generous, and informative. You should trust Viking Automotive. I've been hearing a strange sound in the front end of my van and wanted to find out what it was. I called to make an appointment, and they had great availability, even same day. Also, they can accommodate tall vans, mine is 9-10ft. I showed up for my appointment, the listened to me, and they went and drove it around. When they returned, I could see their "bedside manner" skills were showing because they were prepping to give me some expensive news in a considerate way. Turns out I'm going to need to replace my front struts and mounts, which would cost ~$1900. BUT! I don't need to do it now. They could've tried to scare me into doing it right away, but instead they told me that it's something I'll want to plan for and be aware of. They also told me the symptoms to look for as the problem progresses. The next bit is the best part. I was expecting to pay $125 for their time diagnosing my issue. We brought a used car in that we were thinking about buying. It was coming from a dealer with a reputation for having bad mechanics so we wanted a second opinion that we could trust. We had a full inspection done and they found a lot of things that we did not see that the dealer didn't mention (maybe they didn't even know about). In 2017, check engine light was on brought my 2007 Volkswagen Jetta in and they found out that my catalytic converter had to be replaced. They replaced it all was good for a while until my check engine light went back on again. Brought it back in and found out they did not put in a California emissions catalytic converter since my car was from Cali and they had the gall to ask me if I had switch my registration numbers under my hood. Even though clearly had Cali license plates on the car too. They had told me when I re-brought in my car in 2018 that they put a brand new catalytic converter, fast forward to 2021. Check engine was on and I had moved back to Cali and still transversing this damn headache and can't get smog check due to check engine light on and will need another NEW OE catalytic converter put in. Will time to retire this car because im not paying ANOTHER $1000-$2000 to fix my car which I already have shelled out at-- thanks for nothing Viking automotive. Other than that, they create new problems to the problem they fix and I had to go back over and over again to fix the additional problems they fix while the manager would tell you he was helping you. No, they created the additional problems and they should apologize instead of telling you they are doing you a favor. It's a vicious cycle. Their mechanics are good at creating problems and the manager enjoys being the problem-solver, thus encouraging their mechanics to slack off. The receptionists always have "I don't care" attitude. My 2007 Toyota Prius was getting low MPG, so I took it to Viking to have it looked at. I also opted for their headlight polishing. After a few hours of diagnostics, Viking called with their findings. There was nothing wrong with the engine, traction battery, or exhaust, but they did notice that the tires were larger than the factory-recommended size. (215/55 R16 vs. 195/55 R16) I told Viking my tire dealer had sold me new rims and new wheels several years ago, and had recommended going with an oversized tire. Viking said that was bad advise because oversized tires can negatively affect MPG, and recommended that I go back to my dealer and ask for the tires that were the right size for my car. After the diagnostics and headlight polishing, my repair total was a lot less than I thought it would be. I went back to my tire dealer and they corrected their mistake. Now I'm getting 5-10 MPG more than I was before I visited Viking. Their honestly, integrity, and fair pricing was like a breath of fresh air. Next time I need auto service, I'm going to Viking. First and foremost, I want to give a shoutout to Casey; he is the sole reason I'm not giving this place a one-star review. His hospitality and advice given over the phone was the singular positive experience I had with this place. To provide a little background, I have an early 2000s vehicle that I daily-drive as a beater; it certainly has a laundry-list of little (albeit insignificant) issues, but nothing that is a major safety concern, and it's not the type of vehicle worth spending a lot of money on to keep in tip-top condition. It is a workhorse vehicle that gets me to class/work and back. I dropped off my car early last week to diagnose a couple codes that the car was throwing in order to pass emissions (I had already stopped at Autozone to have the codes scanned, so I knew what codes the car was throwing); they were nothing major, I figured it would be a cheap fix. I explicitly told them that I'm not worried about fixing anything that doesn't relate to getting my vehicle to legally pass an emissions inspection. First bad experience: I schedule an appointment for early in the morning, I'm told that it should take no more than a few hours; no biggie, I drop my car off and get a ride home with a family member regardless. 4PM comes and goes, I call asking for an update, I am transferred to another representative which goes straight to voice mail. I'm now 1 day into a "few hour" job with no updates. I call back early the next morning asking for an update, and they tell me that they have looked at the vehicle but haven't written up a quote. They tell me that they will call me back later in the day (to their credit, they did give me an accurate estimate as to how long this would take, and called me back in a relatively timely manner). They call me back and inform me of the "bad news." I am quoted $4,800 to get my vehicle into emissions-legal order. The most blatantly over-priced (and wrong) repair they quoted me for was an intake-manifold replacement to fix a P0128 code (which indicates the vehicle isn't fully warming up to operating temp). Anybody with any amount of mechanical knowledge knows the first thing you diagnose here is a stuck thermostat (which, by the way, they did not even mention and were not going to fix, meaning the issue would have persisted regardless). Obviously, I don't approve any of the work and ask them to return my vehicle as-is so I can figure it out and fix it myself. They then try to charge me $348 for an hour of labor and an evap smoke test that the representative on the phone LITERALLY told me they couldn't perform because my gas cap had a bad gasket, meaning they couldn't pressurize the rest of the evap system to run the test. I tell them that this is absolutely ridiculous; remember, this is an early 2000s vehicle that is barely worth $2,500 on a good day. My mechanic that works on my 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE (a 650 HP supercharged pushrod V8) charges a lesser hourly rate for labor (and he is an excellent mechanic). The representative on the phone tells me to "wait and see what he can do," and that he might be able to cut it down to $190. I'm not happy with this, but I figure it is better than nothing, so I hang up and let them see what they can do. They call me back to let me know that they were able to get it down to $190, I express that this is still an absolutely ridiculous labor rate considering the "work" that they did, and ask what their hourly labor rate even is (since they told me it was an hour of labor). The representative on the phone admits that their hourly rate is $138 + taxes, and I ask if they can get me down to that. Thankfully they do, but in hindsight I'm not going to sing their praises for giving me such a massive "discount" when in reality this is the fair rate that they should have charged me from the start instead of trying to rip me off in the beginning. Regardless, they got me down to a fair rate (which, by the way, if they had just tried to charge me this from the beginning I wouldn't be so upset; I understand that you have to pay your employees for their labor, and this is a very fair rate). I'm just upset that they initially tried to rip me off the way they did. So, what's the end result? Well, I managed to get my car into 100% emissions-legal order with no check engine light with $50 of parts and about a half hour of my own labor. I'm sitting here with an "emissions passed" VIR as we speak. As a whole, I can't recommend this place after trying to rip me off and making me feel like I got a "deal" after negotiating down to a fair labor rate. read more

My poor little Mini Cooper s had to be put down this past week and it came with a huge headache. It was not drivable anymore and the towing fees were a nightmare. When they called me to tell me it was ready they also informed me that my tires didn't need to be rotated (so they didn't do that) and then updated me on the condition of the rest of the car; belts look good, just barely starting to show some cracking, brakes look good don't need changing quite yet. Basically, I just felt like they were very honest and didn't try to sell or charge me for things that I didn't need. read more

I came here to get a quote for one of my vehicles. Mind you I always look clueless as hell when I go places. I park my car in the lot and walked towards the store and incomes one of the mechanics, who I later find out to be the GM. He introduces himself as Mr. Patrick and I explain my situation. As much most places would just quote me on the thermostat or the water pump, Patrick explained that while it might be the problems I have mentioned, it could be many things and that it could also be covered under warranty, even though the car was wayyyyy past warranty. He also told me ( as most other places ) to have the car towed to his facility and he has a flat rate with the towing company. I dunno, I've never felt so reassured that my car would be fixed with as much minimal cost as possible from one of the kindest and most genuine person I've ever met. Ultimately, one of my friends was able to diagnose the problem and just had me pay for the part. As much as I didn't bring my car to Viking automotive in the end, Patrick and I'm assuming his team will take very good care of you, whether it is simple maintenance or something serious. I love leaving good reviews where it's due. Viking saved me some serious time and cash. I recently had a heater core leak, indicated by the smell of coolant and the film accumulating on the interior windows during heater operation. I'm pretty good with cars, but a heater core replacement on my Cadillac would take some tools and time I don't have. I called a mechanic shop which I won't name and was quoted nearly $1500 for the repair. I had used Viking once already for safety and emmissions and gave them a ring. They actually recommended a coolant additive that could seal the leak and possibly avoid replacing the core. Patrick was the gent who made the recommendation and it seriously saved my wallet. They put the additive in and didn't even charge me for them. It worked great and stopped the leak. I've currently been driving on it for more than a week, when Clayton from the shop called to make sure everything was A-OK.
