Jerk bowl with rice & peas and plantains

Dat Jerk did NOT disappoint! The jerk chicken was perfectly seasoned with that smoky, spicy kick that hits just right. The rice and peas were flavorful, and the plantains were sweet and fresh. I'll definitely be back!" The customer service at Dat Jerk was amazing! The staff was friendly, welcoming, and patient while I ordered. They made me feel appreciated as a customer. Great vibes all around!"

Food was delicious. We got the jerk chicken, rice and Mac n cheese. This was my first time here. Of course it has a kick to it but it was delicious. For a bowl, 2 Jamaican beef Patties and a piece of rum cake I paid a little over 30 dollars. Definitely enough food to feed 2. We shared our food and I'm still full Picture was after he took half the food and as you see it's still a good amount

I've had some Jamaican cuisine but certainly not enough. I found this Maryland chain on Yelp and decided to give it a try! They were pretty busy but the service was excellent! I got the jerk chicken, rice and peas and veggie mix. The meal was fantastic. Flavors are rich and delicious. The chicken was so moist and rice well seasoned. I liked the soda choices to cream soda, pineapple and most all in the fountain. The restaurant was clean however the ice machine was empty, hard to get utensils, and napkins. Also no water, which is really disappointing. I definitely want to return to try the curry!

~ As much as I drive past this place, I had to try it. I didn't have my hopes high because I've tried so many restaurants searching for true Caribbean food and my top two were " Hummingbird" and " Jerk at Nite". Other than that.... I'll pass. But this place is not it. I would give it a one star, but the customer service is really really good. They know how to move, keep fresh food coming & Handle in-store and pick up orders as well. So compliments to them. The jerk chicken is bad. It's more like a sweet honey chicken. Great size, but has horrible taste. My advice is to get a bunch of " rude boy jerk sauce" on the side and drown your chicken in that. Cause the chicken itself ain't doing it. I only eat one and give the other piece away. The rice and peas were cooked well. Mac & Cheese was regular. I poured " island BBQ" sauce all over cause the sides were boring. That Island BBQ is amazing tho. Glad I got it out of the way. Never going back, but if I do... it's to get some of that island BBQ sauce for the crib. I spent $26.25 for two 1/2 chickens with 2 sides and two extra sauces. Not bad. Hope you enjoy it. #TeamDiesel

I've been waiting for this place to open and I'm glad they did. Since I stopped eating meat my straight go to was the salmon. The woman upfront was very helpful and patient. The place was very clean and the music was on theme. The salmon was so flavorful and not over cooked. I loved the sweet and jerk contrast. The cabbage was cooked nicely and the sauce from the salmon tasted well with it too. The plantain was a little overcooked. Some of them were a little dry which was disappointing. Overall, I'd go here again and see what else I can try.

We were on a road trip and decided to stop here before we hit 95. It was early afternoon, not crowded whatsoever. The space was clean and tidy, playlist on point. The restroom was also clean, just about spotless! We were greeted almost immediately upon walking in and were able to quickly get our order in. The options are plenty and all seem desirable. We both opted for the oxtail, rice & peas, and cabbage entree. We also got the coco bread, pineapple soda, and a side of Mac. The Mac, rice & peas, and coco bread were the stars of our meal whereas the oxtail and cabbage fell a little short. The coco bread was just so nostalgic from my college days and every bite was so delicious. The rice & peas were also tasty, well cooked and perfectly seasoned. The Mac & cheese was goey and creamy HOWEVER... there was PLASTIC in my dish which completely was a bummer and one of the reasons I had to take away a star. When I notified the young lady she apologized and took the plastic-- and didn't give me any further recourse at first. So I just went back and grabbed my entire Mac and came back to the counter to give her the whole thing and that's when she offered to replace the side. I was torn about wanting to get more Mac and did, but now that I think about it I should've opted for something else since arguably that entire pan was/is tainted. The oxtails and its gravy and cabbage did not have that punch of flavor and was borderline bland BUT they were still palatable-- just underwhelming seasoned if you will. The oxtail weren't incredibly tinder fall off the bone but they absolutely weren't tough either and I was still pleased (he had had better). The cabbage had corn in it which was a pleasant surprise and a first for me. All in all, I would give this place another go. I'm a curry girl so would wanna try that and their brown stew chicken.

This was my first visit to the Landsdowne location. I tried the Oxtails Bowl with plantains and Stir Fry Vegetables. The portions were small for $21. The food was ok. The plantains were too burnt. I also ordered the Jerk Meatloaf bowl with Rice and Peas and Vegetarian Stew Peas. The food in this bowl was great. I ordered desserts, Pina Colada cake and Apple Caramel Rum Cake. The cakes had a great taste but appeared to be undercooked. I tried several bottled drinks. They were great but pricey, $3.40 a bottle, Ouch!!! Oh, I can't forget the beef and Jerk Chicken patties and Coco bread...just Ok! The Service was great and atmosphere was good.

Half chicken special with rice and plantain.

So it cost me $10-15 to for a plastic takeout container. Had I not looked at the customer copy of the bill I would have not only not known but I would have tipped based on the total which already included the additional gratuity charge (which was not disclosed on the merchant copy). This is so unnecessary and ruined what would have been a good experience. They said it was a "sharing charge" which I have experienced and applies when u have another diner with you and u decide to split an entree. Had they disclosed I would at least had the option to finish the meal. The saying "stepping over dollars to pick up pennies " seems to apply as this left such a bad taste I doubt I will return despite the fact the crab cake was delicious and the loaded baked potato was average (hardly loaded) Beware of the hidden gratuity for take home leftovers!!! Update to above: I did follow up with Angie this morning and she was very kind and offered to credit back my card for the extra gratuity. She also explained that I was misled about the "sharing charge" but they do automatically add 15% gratuity regardless of party size or quality of service. So I would give 4 stars for the food quality and 1 star for the way in which they present and charge gratuity. Tipping should remain at the discretion of the diner based on service and food quality otherwise just get rid of tipping and raise your prices

I lived in Boston previously and Thames's lobster roll is BETTER than any I had there. It's my default order, but explore their specials when they catch my eye. I'm not an oyster guy, but they also have the best raw bar in town, and they have an in house dedicated pastry chef who makes desserts which are to die for if you save room.

The crab cakes were accompanied by a handful of greens, and heaping portions of the sides. The soup came with a handful of wrapped crackers - more than we knew what to do with! I preferred the lump crab cake, the sides were all good with the crisp cucumber salad and Cole slaw being pleasantly refreshing. The potato salad was the creamy sort. The shreds of crab was visibly evident in the veggie filled minestrone type soup, but not as evident in taste. It is always tough to get your fix of veggies on vacation, so I'd probably get the lump crab cake with cucumber salad and Cole slaw on another visit, or try one of their seasonal items.

Well-fried rockfish pieces topped with a yummy remoulade sauce and finely chopped cabbage. I think my only complaint would be that it's clearly enough for two standard tacos, but they shove it all into one large one, which usually makes for pretty messy eating. I usually opt for the mixed seasonal vegetables, which is a pretty large side and a good variety of veggies. Not bad for $14! Every time I go, there is someone getting their cream of crab soup, and a few times the truck has sold out; must be good, so I'll have to try that next time. Other popular items include their crab fries. They also usually have some jarred dessert, like crème brûlée or key lime pie. I finally broke down and tried their crème brûlée and it was pretty solid! For $5, it's worth it. The folks there are friendly and work fast to get you your food. Prices are definitely reasonable. Check these guys out sometime.
