Please allow me to present this review in the order in which the events occurred. This was my first time at this establishment, having visited the one on Smith street in the past 1- Arrival: Upon arrival we were greeted by the receptionist and proceeded to wait for 15 minutes which was not bad given that we were walk ins. 15 minutes enjoying classical music and a beautiful ambiance, I thought, okay, this will be a peaceful experience 2: Service: After waiting in peace, I was led to the station for my pedicure and as I sat there, my admiration of the decor continued on. I thought to myself "this is beautiful omg I'm excited to receive what appears to be great service" WRONG - While soaking my feet, I felt a cold breeze on my feet, signifying to me that the water was going down. Looking around puzzled, the customers surrounding me all appeared to be enjoying their feet soaking and here I was embraced by cold air and no water. When I mentioned this to one of the attendees, they proceeded to help me but failed to mention that my feet basin was not like the others therefore the water would keep going down because of a malfunction. Interesting and fun fact! "why not move me to another basin" I thought but hey, in a place where workers get annoyed with your questions, I decided to sit and make not further fuss. Now the fun part. In walks my nail technician, TIFFANY, a woman with a horrible attitude and NO knowledge of what proper customer service is given she did not greet me and immediately proceeded to signal me to put my feet up. Her attitude was very confrontational and and her tone when she spoke was extremely aggressive. I attempted to make mention of my desire for the service she was going to offer and in frustration she proceeded to speak in her native language, which made the other technicians look at my feet. How disgusting is that behavior? I DID NOT enjoy any of the service performed by her at all and the best part of the entire experience was my polish being applied and her saying "done" I will NEVER return to this place nor recommend it further to any yelpers unless you desire to pay for service you could have done at home for yourself. If what I came in for was free, I would have understood the attitudes and cold behavior but in a country where we honor the services done by others in monetary form, this behavior is not acceptable at all Stay away from this place if you want a peaceful experience, for $37 you'll leave stressed and frustrated trying to communicate to technicians who care nothing about the customers and everything about being paid and questionable in their behavior! read more

Oh boy, kicking myself for not checking yelp reviews. But in my defense, I never thought that a nail salon could screw up a gel mani removal. There isn't a very visible pricing sign, so after I had sat down for a few min they told me it would be $10 to remove my gel mani. Although the Korean lady seemed really nice, she did not know what she was doing. Or she didn't know that her method was wrong. A few little scrapes off the surface (not nearly enough for the acetone to soak through) and then she started working on scraping off my polish. And probably scraped off a few layers of my nails too. UGH At which point I wasn't confident enough to say anything (my polish was pale pink like my actual nails) but after we were done, she didn't buff my nails at all. I walked out with extremely brittle nails that were embarrassing, and my nails have been breaking for 2 weeks now. Never again, steer clear from this place! read more

It's close by my work so I thought I'd pop in to get a manicure. First before anything else the actual finished manicure is...ok... for 19$ I've seen worse. I've had way better. The reason I am giving it 2 stars and writing a review at all was the service. The lady that did my nails was nice and quick. Like I said did an ok job but when it came time to pay the price was 19$ I gave a 20$ and said you can keep the 1$ when she tried to give it back to me. We weren't done with the manicure yet and I don't want to fish in my purse. She then made it a point to say here we tip 20% not 1$ and gave me back the 1$ I was shocked! I have run into demanding tips before in NYC it's absolutely appalling! A tip is an extra. It's a thank you for doing a good job. Not a requirement. Certainly not something to be demanded. A bit expensive but I am very satisfied. They have a lot of gel manicure options. The salon is getting 4 out of 5 stars because it seemed as if they were low on supplies. The nail tech who assisted me basically had to scrape the bottle to make sure there was enough gel polish for my nails. Also, she didn't have enough cuticle oil. Again, scrapping and squeezing the bottle to make sure she had enough for my nails. As expensive as this experience was, there should been ample polish and cuticle oil. Overall a pleasant experience. I hope this last the promises 2 weeks. FYI for my ladies or gents with long fingers seeking a gel manicure, the "nail dryer" was very short. Sometimes you need to splurge & indulge yourself. I like this particular DD b/c it's close to mi casa and they just to seem to be very accommodating when I go. They offer you a beverage and a magazine... they know your there to relax and that's definitely nice. I usually get the Spoiled Diva Pedi... and I LUUUV IT!! It also last for 2 weeks which is always nice to not have your polish chipping and looking a hott mess in your sandals. It's pricey, but definitely worth it. read more

I've been coming to this salon for years, so it breaks my heart to write a bad review. I've always had great manicures here! The manicure started off well, but when my nail tech started to apply the polish, things went south. Her paint job was sloppy, either due to her hand or the polish. The edges were crooked. She painted over my skin, outside the edge of the nail. The bad paint job also revealed cuticles she'd neglected to trim. I kept pointing out places where there was polish on my skin and where she needed to fix things, but she blamed the polish. I showed the manager and she blamed my nails! I wish I hadn't tipped $5 on this $15 manicure, but alas, I had to pay before seeing the final result. Please avoid this place. I feel like this nail salon has a lot of positives (hence the four star rating). * They offer you tea or water when you arrive. * The place is always clean and their tools are all sterilized, which is a must for any salon. * They take their time pampering you, which also helps with the precision on cleaning and painting your nails. * There's a whole rack of magazines for your reading pleasure. * The salon doesn't have a bad smell like most. Might be because they use good products (lotions) that I'm not allergic to. * When it's time to lotion up, they ask if you want to use one of their scents to mix in. It's definitely soothing. * If you're a regular, get their card and pay in cash to build up rewards to use later! I'll be the first to say that I am no Diva. If I were than I wouldn't clean the families dinner dishes and I most definitely would not clean my toilets. Well, since I do both rather frequently, I'm lucky if my manicures last more than two days. It's something about soapy water and cleaning agents that just makes my nails, chip, chip, and chip some more. A few months ago I decided to try out the Dashing Diva in Park Slope since I was in the neighborhood visiting friends and I had a little time to kill. The place is super cute with it's white and pink decor. It makes you feel like you should walk in with a fluffy miniature poodle under your arm. I decided to go for a spoiled diva pedicure which was only $10 more than the regular pedicure and a regular manicure. The pedicure were significantly better than average. It lasted about 45 minutes and when I stood up from the chair I felt like I was walking on air. The manicure was fine. It only took about 15 minutes and that was with cuticle cutting. So, why am I giving this place a five? Here's why- My polish stayed on my toes for several weeks and on my nails for exactly 10 days. I kid you not. I have never had polish stay a day over seven days on my fingernails. I am not sure if they use a special top coat or something but the polish was stuck to my nails. Oh, and one other thing- No need to byob, they offer tea and water to everyone that steps in the door. just a little bonus for the Wanna Be Diva! read more

I miss the cheap and ubiquitous beauty services of Los Angeles, and TBH I never went out of my way to hit up the Pasadena Dashing Diva when I lived there, because there was another great nail salon within walking distance of my house. (Yes! You can walk in LA!) That said, I have gone out of my way to hit up the Park Slope DD a few times, and I plan on hitting it up quite a few more. Even though each time I go, I have to I brace myself for the sticker shock - everything in NYC is a good 20 - 30% more expensive than LA, and this salon is a good 10 - 15% more expensive than the other salons in this area. But. As a treat, it's worth it. The pedi nooks and quieter back area are a total godsend for an introvert who wilts under the unavoidable New York stress of being surrounded by PEOPLE PEOPLE PEOPLE 24/7 (not that I'm saying that's me...ok, that's me), and the couch-style pedi seating is great if you want to go with a pal and not, like, semi-yell your personal conversation to each other across the salon. "YOU SAID YOUR NEW BABY COUSIN HAS DIABETES?" "YES, DIABETES." "OH NO, HOW IS SHE HOLDING UP?" None of that is necessary here at DD. The manis and pedis and special treatments are thorough and lovely. The jelly stuff they put in the water is special fun science times and feels like jello on your legs...I don't even really care what it does, it's just cool. The callous treatments help get every bit of scary crack-n-peel off your heels. The choice of essential oils in the lotion is a nice little perk. The colors are decent, though I wish there were more options on the nontraditional side of the color wheel. Once on my hands, the polish lasts about a week (average for me, the household's designated dishwasher), and on my feet it lasts as long as I can leave it until I start worrying that it's going to eat away my toenails (a week or two). The Dashing Diva phenomenon arrives in the slope. My first DD experience was at a YELP event. This location is not huge and considering that it was previously an ice cream store. I am all about autoclaving, non-jet foot baths, and the overall cleanliness. My technician was having a bad day-apparently she is quitting DD and cannot go back to her previous job. This decidedly put a damper on the experience and reminds me to tip well because although the economy is putting a squeeze on me I can still choose to get a mani/pedi. The actual DD brand nail polish is not so great in my opinion-it doesn't last that long and starts to peel about two days in. (essie and OPI still rule in my book) The DD chain is good but overall falls short of what they are putting out there. read more

Yet again I wish for the half star! I would really like to give this place 3.5 stars as there are some really fabulous things about it, but also some aspects that need improvement. First of all, I am rarely a fan of chains, but in the case of nail salons, I am completely in support of the chain model. The attention to detail when it comes to cleanliness and sterilization of instruments is absolutely fabulous here. You really feel like everything is sanitary and there are just so many nail salons that are not good in that department! So big, big, big plus for that, in my opinion. The first time I had a pedicure here it was fantastic - I really liked the technician, my feet looked great, the polish lasted a long time and I really felt like the higher price tag was worth it. The second time, although the cleanliness aspect was still fabulous, my technician was not really into it and I felt like I got a so-so pedi - did not last a long time. I have never had a bad pedicure at the Park Slope location of Dashing Diva. I always get the Spoiled Diva pedicure and my feet are so soft afterwards and stay soft for at least another 2 weeks (more in winter time when I am wearing socks). I just moved to Manhattan, so went to the Grammercy location and was so disspointed in my experience there, that I think I may have to just take th F Train to Park Slope for my peddies. read more

I love this place and I feel like my nails would not fall off. The workers are so friendly. You feel like they are happy to carter to you and you can feel so relaxed and a lot of color options from nail polish to the gel. They are pricey but they are the best. Last week I strayed over to a place that did medi pedi for $18 & I am still traumatized from the cleaning of the station with windex to the 99 cent Luck soap to soak my feet in and the baby oil used for my massage along with the linty rag used on my hand and the $3. nail polish that came off within the next three hours. Be prepared to be treated like a diva, actually! Walk in the hot pink colored place, and automatically be offered a beverage! How sweet and rare that is! Right away I notice that the place is sparkly clear, and surprisingly doesn't have a nail polish-y smell! Thank goodness.. I hate that. One of my favorite things about the chain in general is that they don't have the pedicure chairs like every other place. It so cool and different how they do it, with the little individual things on the "couch area". LOVE IT! They're spa services are just a drop more expensive than your average nail salon, but who cares you're treating yourself to look great! why not splurge!?!?!? The bright color/ambiance is so girly and pink, ahh it's so me! I love the girls that work there, they dont rush like other places do, you're their one special customer and the only person in the universe that exists to them. I went with two girlfriends to Dashing Divas in Park Slope. It's a little more pricey than your typical mani-pedi place, but it's worth it. I wouldn't treat myself to this place week-in and week-out simply because of price, but they really do take a step-up from the usual here. Besides the pristine setting, they take the time to massage you, exfoliate arms/legs, and give you a choice of scented oils (lavender, eucalyptus, orange) to mix with lotion to create an aromatherapy experience that's pretty cool. The pedicure area is especially cool. You sit in a couch area that's removed from the rest of the manicure tables. You feel kinda luxurious just sitting there and letting your feet soak. The mani-pedi I got is one week old as I type this, and I hardly have a chip in my manicure! I noted and enjoyed that they asked first before cutting cuticles. Also, you can see them unwrap clean instruments to use on you, which makes me feel extra good about the cleanliness. read more

While most forty dollar pedicures at least allow a massage chair-- this one has you sitting upright at some makeshift booth-- and not even a quick shoulder rub at the drying station! Total ripoff! I went here and received terrible, phony service. Paid extra for non-toxic gel nail polish recommended by the manager Mark; and was basically annoyed twice by a guy creeping up behind me, asking if I wanted a massage. I got a gel manicure from nail tech Ming. She did a sloppy, limited, and inconsistent job. Did not cut or push back my cuticles; barely filed them; didn't even out my nails like I asked... even after a bunch of times I politely asked her to correct them before adding polish... which went nowhere. She painted each nail in a different order and way; it was all bubbly underneath when it dried. It wasn't even shiny! And no hot towel or hand massage? I was so mad I paid and left. After two days, the gel manicure chipped; and I had decided to go someplace else to have it fixed. Check out how messed up my nails were when the tech tried to soak off the polish for 30 minutes. My nails were stained and I went to Dashing Diva to show them, but the manager Mark was conveniently out sick. The first time I went there I got Virtual Nails. And it is true, they are way better than acrylic ones. I kept them for two weeks, even though I am pretty sure they could have stayed on for another week. And my nails were strong and healthy underneath. The nail polish is a big BIG plus, its really great. I usually try and get an appointment with Angela, she's amazing. One big Con is that it is REALLY pricey for the kind of service it provides. I cannot say it is worth it. I can say though, that if you want a relaxing treat it is a good place to go. However, I am currently addicted to their services, and don't think I can go anywhere else. I cheated on Swiss II one day recently when I was in a desperate need and Swiss II was packed. The vibe is pleasant enough and the manicure and pedicure were fine (though the manicure did chip not two days later.) However the one star is for price. This was the most expensive mani/pedi I've ever had in Brooklyn. At Swiss II Nails, for gel/shellac manicure and regular pedicure I'm not even shelling out $50. Here a REGULAR manicure and pedicure was $60 + tip. An absurd price for a chain salon. Nothing in the service or setup there blew my mind. I end up feeling cheated and embarrassed for paying as much as I did. Lesson learned: always ASK how much before sitting down and assuming prices would be reasonable. Well worth the price! I love their green tea spa pedicures! Nail technicians always listen to my requests and deliver exactly what I asked for. I've been going to this salon for several years now and it's the best one in the area! I came in today for a pedicure and as I was paying the manager noticed that one of my nails had chipped from the manicure I had at their salon last week. Went there with a party of 10 and they were able to accommodate us. We were all done within 2 and half hours. Not bad at all. Atmosphere is very clean and very girly cute. There was a girl who was cleaning every inch of the place the entire time we were there. Got virtual nails and a change of polish for my toes. Even though I only asked for a change of polish, they still soaked and massaged my feet/legs. That was really nice =) The lady took her time doing my nails so it wasn't a rushed job like most salons and I gotta say...virtual nails are nicer and much more comfortable than acrylics. It supposed to last a good 10 days, but mine started coming off after a week. I wash my hands about 30 times a day due to my job so I think that's why they came off sooner. Anyway, my real nails were still healthy and strong - not thin and weak like the acrylics usually make them. How great is that? If I live here, I would get them every month. That being said, if you value a relaxing atmosphere, complimentary tea, and a good massage, this place is totally worth it.
