I'm in Boston for last few months ... Of course as a Muslim I always look for halal restaurant so 3 days ago I was looking a halal bengali cuisine restaurant for catering bengali food so recommended by one of my friend because she told me that's her Mama's restaurant ... so I ordered goat Rezala (Bengali style) from *Darul Kabab* which is located in Cambridge,MA Guess what I got Goat curry for $110(Half tray) .. I mean I can make more delicious and perfect by watching video on YouTube so I called them to let those people know about it .. And the guy was telling me sorry * I don't know what was that , I'm new over here so I just placed order to the chef * I don't know is that chef from from noahkhali or no otherwise he suppose to know there is different between goat curry and Goat rejala Thanks for wasting my money Good luck with your business

I am Bangladeshi American and my mom is a great cook so I am very picky with South Asian Cuisines. I haven't been able to visit my family due to COVID travel restrictions so I thought why not order food that reminds me of home? And boy it did not disappoint! The Kachi biriyani was melt in your mouth good. More oily than my mom makes but hey I was treating myself! The shik kebab and moglai paratha were also great. Most of the bad reviews of this place are people ordering soups/salads.... like bruh go to a regular cafe for that stuff. If you want great biriyani and kebabs then go to Darul!

If you are looking for awesome Indian food this place is for you. I eat a ton of Indian, and the food at Darul Kabab is definitely my favorite in the Boston area....well, for take-out anyway. Sure you can wine about the service not being perfect, but in some senses it is charming and they are certainly making progress. **4.5 Stars for the food **3.5 Stars for the service/atmosphere **5 Stars to counter-act June M's 1-star review that judges an INDIAN RESTAURANT for a FISH BURGER...what's up with that? I'm glad they have the burgers/pizza/etc on the menu so that your picky friends, or children, can eat something while you get better food.

DK is taste-TAY! I'm never disappointed when I come here. The food is good and the prices are about average for Indian fare. Afternoon buffet dishes are great and rotate during the week. It's the best time to come (IMO) bcz the restaurant is quiet but does a 180 for dinner and there's lots of hustle and bustle going on. The lunch buffet is daily until 3pm and features 11 dishes for $12.99. There is also a dinner buffet on Monday and Tuesdays which has 14 dishes. They've recently added fish curry to the buffet and it was a welcome addition. However, it's LOADED with bones so you need to eat it super cautiously. When you walk in, the open space is welcoming and the colors are vibrant. Can you smell it? The curry? The faint smell of garlic? Tandoori chicken in clay pots? The fresh naan. *my mouth is literally salivating at the moment* The massive flat screens are a bit distracting but after a few minutes you're able to tune them out. After you've settled in and ordered your water, make your way over to the serving stations (proud of yourself for choosing the buffet bcz you get to sample, almost, the entire menu) and 'plate-up'. Once you've made it back to your table you discover the server has brought fresh, hot, glistening naan over. Sit. Feast. It's been a long day and there's nothing like a tasty meal to make you forget about that annoying biker who ran the red light and clipped your side mirror. You have naan. Hot naan. And curry. All is right with the world.

Food is pretty cheap especially if you get the lunch buffet. Food is not too bad but kind of too mild for me.

I ordered the chana masala, veggie samosa, and a Taj Mahal beer. These are my usual go to items, and all of them delivered. I ordered medium spice and it was perfect. Just enough heat that I was sweating a little, but still going back for more. Very good balance and flavor. The menu has plenty of options and covers both Indian and Nepalese dishes, which makes it easy to come back and try different things. Food quality felt strong across the board. Service was quick and friendly. Inside, there is plenty of seating and a comfortable, casual setup. They had pleasant, modern Indian music playing, which added to the atmosphere. It is right on Broadway in Teele Square, so easy to get to. The only minor downside was some loud chatter between staff, which could be a little distracting at times. Overall, this is a reliable neighborhood spot with very good food and solid service. Based on this visit, I am comfortable rounding up to a five star review. I will be back.

I didn't have a reservation on a Friday night, but I called ahead and they said it wasn't too busy. There were only a few tables filled when I went, and the restaurant isn't very large in general. The interior is modern and classy, while the food is also not too expensive. I ordered the vegetable samosas and malai kofta. I was also given complimentary papadam with tamarind, mint chutney, and tomato dip. The tamarind absolutely blew me away - I wanted to try it with everything! The vegetable samosas were really fresh, large, and full/packed. There's only 2 in the order, but they're pretty filling. I also really liked the malai kofta, especially the sauce. I was quite happy with the recommendation.

I didn't try the goat curry, palak paneer or naan, but they looked pretty good too. Services was okay - one of the servers (manager?) was a bit rough around the edges but softened by the end. The ambiance was a little worn but authentic, like you might actually be in an Indian restaurant somewhere on the subcontinent. And it's in Central Square which still maintains its student neighborhood vibe (and student prices!) while its surrounding "sister" squares have all gone "posh". We're not too experimental and we're not big eaters so our order included garlic naan, lamb rogan josh, and chicken tikka masala with a beer and glass of chardonnay. The best recommendation; there wasn't a morsel left. We left pleasantly sated and walked across the street to our show. By the way, if you're driving, there's a garage at 55 Franklin Street that had plenty of space at 5:30PM.

The prices are reasonable, so are the portions and the flavors always kick in the best ways! If you're looking for a no-frills, cozy and delicious place to try, I say don't skip out on Not Just Snacks. Our favorite appetizers are hands down the pani puri, honey and ginger naan, tandoori and beef kebab. The pani puri is an interactive experience, where you hollow out the shells and fill them up with ground chickpeas and spicy sauce - very flavorful and fun! The honey and ginger naan is great to cut down on spicy dishes but eating it alone is dangerous - it's too dang good! I loved the tandoori chicken, a super flavorful thigh w/crispy skin. The beef kebab was just as tasty, packed with all kinds of spices that make it a winner in my book. Now, that was just the apps! Quite consistently, I always always always order the lamb (or beef) vindaloo. I have to warn you that this dish is certainly not for the weak - spice lovers only! The tender chunks of meat pair quite well in the pool of spice, potatoes and my favorite, chilis. There is an option to pair the vindaloo with rice or naan, with my heart devoted to the former. To put in perspective how spicy the lamb vindaloo is, you'll likely need refills upon refills of water. Nonetheless, if you can REALLY handle heat, the vindaloo is made for you. I alter between lamb and beef, depending on the mood. This time around I tried the shrimp dopiaza and wheat roti. The shrimp entree was quite sweet, with 5 shrimps total. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of anything wheat, hence the roti ranked lower on my scale. Overall, Not Just Snacks holds a special place in my heart (and stomach). The family that serves us is always friendly, especially the younger gentleman. The chef often comes out to check up on us and I believe that's a very kind gesture. The woman as well always greets us with a smile.

Whether you are a student, a local or just someone in the South End and Back Bay area looking for good affordable Indian food in Boston, this place consistently delivers. Worth mentioning upfront for students -- Mela offers the weekday lunch buffet for $11.99 with a valid student ID, available through March 2026. The regular weekday buffet is $14.95 and the weekend buffet is $17.95. For a full Indian buffet in the South End Boston that is genuinely one of the better deals you will find in the city right now. The ambiance was warm and inviting, the kind of place that feels comfortable the moment you walk in. The owners were friendly and you could tell they genuinely take pride in what they do. We started with the aloo tikki chaat which was really well done. The balance of spice and sweetness was spot on and the depth of flavor made it feel thoughtfully prepared. It is one of those dishes where every bite feels complete and it set the tone for everything that followed. The mango lassi was just as good. Thick, rich and satisfying without being overly sweet. It felt authentic and filling, not the watered down version you sometimes get at other places. For the main we went with the vegetarian dinner for two which is one of the best value options on the menu at this South End Indian restaurant. It comes with soup, two gravies, basmati rice, naan, raita and two desserts, so you get a full and complete meal rather than just a single dish. We chose the malai kofta and saag paneer. The malai kofta was the standout, creamy, rich and deeply flavorful in a way that genuinely reminded us of food in India. The saag paneer had a fresher and lighter taste that balanced the richness of the kofta perfectly. The naan came out hot from the tandoor, soft and slightly doughy, and worked beautifully with both gravies. Everything on the table felt cohesive and well thought out. The desserts were the highlight of the whole meal. The malai kulfi is made in house and you can taste exactly why that matters. Rich, smooth and perfectly sweet. The gulab jamun came out warm and soft enough that it melted the moment it hit your tongue. Both were outstanding and the kind of ending that makes you want to come back just for dessert. If you are a student at Northeastern, BU, Berklee or Emerson looking for affordable Indian food near campus, Mela is exactly the kind of place you want in your regular rotation. The student buffet deal alone makes it worth knowing about. Between the food quality, the warm atmosphere and the strong vegetarian friendly options at this affordable Indian restaurant in Boston, it is easy to see why this place has lasted nearly two decades. We featured our visit on Instagram @bostonvegeats where we cover the best vegetarian and vegan friendly spots around Boston and Mela earned its spot on the page without question.
