    La Poblanita - Enchiladas!

    La Poblanita

La Poblanita was the only place open in Anadarko, early in the morning for brunch/lunch on a…read moreSunday. After noticing a few of the local police officers eating there, I thought it would be a tasty stop. Fortunately, those cops knew what was up. We sat down, and started with some really awesome tortilla chips and salsa. I am definitely a Mexican/Tex-Mex food fan, and eat a lot of chips and salsa. This was so good, I still remember how good it was. I need to get some of it to-go next time... I then ordered what I think were called the "Mexican Flag" enchiladas. It came with three enchiladas, rice, and beans. Oh. Boy. If you ever find yourself in Anadarko, get here and get these. They were amazing, as were the rice and beans. Rice and beans are rarely more than an afterthought, but not so with this dish. It was all delicious. There was really no one else there, and the cashier was really friendly. The place is spare, but clean. You can buy homemade tamales, as well as tamale wrappers and a few other basic Mexican groceries. Overall, I highly highly recommend this place!

The refried beans were bland and I don't really like maize in my rice, so I'd stay away from the taco plate, just get them individually. Way better than the other tacos you can find in this town.

With our dog in tow, we needed pet-friendly seating, and Joe Mountain fit the bill with their outdoor patio. It turned out to be the perfect choice--the weather was beautiful, and the back patio was completely empty, giving us a quiet, relaxing spot to enjoy our meal. The indoor space is small with limited seating, but the patio more than made up for it. The menu is on the smaller side, but the items were unique and definitely caught our attention. My wife ordered the Baffle--a creative take on biscuits and gravy where the biscuit is pressed into a waffle. I went with the Blue Cheese Omelette. Honestly, I never would have thought of putting blue cheese in an omelet, but it worked! It was rich, flavorful, and so memorable that I'm planning to recreate it at home. Drink choices were limited (no sodas except root beer), but we made it work. Service was easy--we were told to order inside when ready, and everything came out promptly. Overall, Joe Mountain was a fun little stop with a quirky menu and a great outdoor setup. We couldn't have picked a better day to visit, as the timing and crowd level made the experience even better. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area, especially if you enjoy patio dining with a pet by your side!
