Three of us ordered the ribs, they were fatty and tough, and the silverskin had not been removed. Another had the Sloppy Jake, and said it had way too much sweet sauce. Good food and HUGE portions. Excellent service and comfortable dining room although the tables aren't big enough for all the food. The waitstaff is very friendly and attentive. Lots of college students trying to pay their way so be generous. Ask questions. We learned that some of the entrees are double portioned. This was top notch, as good as I've had! And, I grew up on Knotty Pine BbQ in Tulsa (long gone but clearly not forgotten) I had the "so well priced" rib sandwich, which is as any real bbq place menu is just ribs with white bread and I had a side of mashed potatoes and corn on the cob... Rib jerky anyone?? These are the toughest ribs I've ever had the displeasure of eating. Spare ribs already have little meat on the bone, and to find much of it like rubber was highly disappointing. And that wasn't all that was off with their food on our couple of visits. Okra was over-fried..Catfish soggy inside not one bit flaky..Brisket flavor weak, more like roast beef..Green beans soggy like canned..Pulled pork sandwich came already drowned in sauce. I'm not into their "M(ild)" BBQ sauce, with so much vinegar my eyes watered and it gave me instant heartburn. Curly fries are the only thing I've somewhat enjoyed here -- just the right mix of crispy, oily and fun to eat. But a single small cup of ranch (mediocre) was not nearly enough to tackle the giant loaf they serve you. The positive reviews this place gets has to be a combination of nostalgia, huge portions and value, along with the lack of options in the area. It is one of only three sit-down restaurants even open on Sundays in Chickasha. At least the service was great. But dining room is a bore. Went in on a Saturday afternoon and the place was really busy, and it was easy to see why. Food was flavorful, portions were generous, and the service was friendly. Were the ribs as good as some of the top joints in KC? No. But they were quite large and meaty with good flavor, and the barbecue sauce that came with them was delicious. I really liked the side options, and had some really tasty fried okra and jalapeño cornbread hush puppies. All three in our party went home with leftovers and the food was very affordable. We were in chickasha to look at the Christmas lights and the giant leg lamp from a Christmas story which is my favorite Christmas movie and my mother in law suggested that we try Jake's bbq. So we GPSed it which is a wise thing because it's kind of hidden but wasn't hard to find if you knew where you were going. Jake's is an old school type rib joint and smelled sooo goood from the outside. We were greeted right away and sat at a table. Their menu isn't huge but that's ok there is still enough I think everyone could find something. I decided to try the rib dinner since it was Jake's ribs after all. My wife got sausage and my mom in law got a ham steak. You get sides too my mother in law got fries. This is the biggest "side" of fries I've ever seen. My wife got the potatoe salad and mashed potatoes. She said neither were bad but didn't stand out at all either. I got green beans and coleslaw. Coleslaw was awesome of the best I had. Green beans however was the opposite. My ribs themselves were ok, very dry and no rub or anything. Their bbq sauce was ok but again nothing to stand out. What a fantastic gem in small town Oklahoma! This is that small town go to place worth an hours drive! For me it's a 3.5 hour drive from Dallas. I've been here 4 times now over the last two years! Jake's is a Chickasha classic and I've been visiting here since I was a little kid. My memories are of the huge bush of french fries, the cheese bites and great barbecue and sides. At our most recent visit, the food didn't live up to my memory or expectation and we were all a little disappointed.
