    Now that BBQ

Oh my, this place is great. Don't read the negative reviews. Great hometown BBQ. Ribs were amazing. The sides are huge and taste great. 2 dollar draft beer. My dad asked for coffee, they didn't have any brewed, but was more then happy to be him a pot. I don't want to lose them money because it's so good, but the portions are huge. You could easily share. Great home town place, if you are in town.

Good food and HUGE portions. Excellent service and comfortable dining room although the tables aren't big enough for all the food. The waitstaff is very friendly and attentive. Lots of college students trying to pay their way so be generous. Ask questions. We learned that some of the entrees are double portioned. Also, small service fee for using a credit card instead of cash.

Nothing impressive. Little dive restaurant. Staff is super friendly & pricing is fair. Food was just okay.

So let's go pros first: - You get free white bread with 2 bbq sauces to try! - Massive amounts of fries from just one order. - Portions are INSANE! Like, could feed a small army of 27 with one meal. - The side dishes are decent! - waitresses are very kind! - Prices really aren't too bad! Now for the cons: - the food is really... bleh. A bit flavorless and underwhelming, almost as if it's been cooked several times. - bathrooms are 1 per person, and they are tiny when having to take your small kids to potty. Overall, not a bad experience but I think you gotta' know what to expect when eating jakes and that it's really for the experience of massive meals and not so much the food itself.

It is a very popular local eatery. I found the food to be ok and not great. I would eat here again. As I am visiting the area it came as a high recommendation but did not meet the expectation set. The wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Everyone was hospitable and nice. The order of curly fries can be shared with at least 3 adults! Huge portion of curly fries.

Catfish soggy inside and already falling apart, little flavor, 2/5...Okra overcooked.

Rib jerky anyone?? These are the toughest ribs I've ever had the displeasure of eating. Spare ribs already have little meat on the bone, and to find much of it like rubber was highly disappointing. Parts even cooked until leather and inedible. They brought us replacement ribs, fresher, but again also all rubbery tough. Ribs here aren't even smoky, not sure they were even seasoned. And that wasn't all that was off with their food on our couple of visits. Okra was over-fried..Catfish soggy inside not one bit flaky..Brisket flavor weak, more like roast beef..Green beans soggy like canned..Pulled pork sandwich came already drowned in sauce. I'm not into their "M(ild)" BBQ sauce, with so much vinegar my eyes watered and it gave me instant heartburn. Curly fries are the only thing I've somewhat enjoyed here -- just the right mix of crispy, oily and fun to eat. But a single small cup of ranch (mediocre) was not nearly enough to tackle the giant loaf they serve you. The positive reviews this place gets has to be a combination of nostalgia, huge portions and value, along with the lack of options in the area. It is one of only three sit-down restaurants even open on Sundays in Chickasha. At least the service was great. But dining room is a bore. I'm unfamiliar with which style cue this is, but it surely struck out with my family.

Taste of food was very good. Skin on ribs was tough. Pork chops were a little dry. Okra, zucchini and baked potato were all good. We didnt have the curly fries but saw a few orders and they were massive. Ambiance was super casual. Service was friendly but overwhelmed. Very busy restaurant. Wait for seating was 45 minutes. Overall was good for the price.

We were in chickasha to look at the Christmas lights and the giant leg lamp from a Christmas story which is my favorite Christmas movie and my mother in law suggested that we try Jake's bbq. So we GPSed it which is a wise thing because it's kind of hidden but wasn't hard to find if you knew where you were going. Jake's is an old school type rib joint and smelled sooo goood from the outside. We were greeted right away and sat at a table. Their menu isn't huge but that's ok there is still enough I think everyone could find something. I decided to try the rib dinner since it was Jake's ribs after all. My wife got sausage and my mom in law got a ham steak. You get sides too my mother in law got fries. This is the biggest "side" of fries I've ever seen. My wife got the potatoe salad and mashed potatoes. She said neither were bad but didn't stand out at all either. I got green beans and coleslaw. Coleslaw was awesome of the best I had. Green beans however was the opposite. My ribs themselves were ok, very dry and no rub or anything. Their bbq sauce was ok but again nothing to stand out. All in all not bad prices and you get large portions it tends to be pretty bland.

I orders the sliced beef I had asked the waitress what it was and she stated brisket. It was not brisket and it was dry and unseasoned. All of the sides were under seasoned. The bbq sauce is more of a vinegar base just for your reference. There is a giant side of Curley fries but they are under-seasoned.

From Oklahoma City it's less than an hour drive, and before long you know you've left city life behind. As the old saying goes, never judge a book by its cover -- and the same applies here. From the outside the building is pretty modest, but once you step inside you immediately get that cozy, homey feeling. Another unique feature: the restaurant is only open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 4:30-9:00 PM, and there are no menus. Your server simply tells you the options: * 8 oz or 12 oz Sirloin * Prime Rib * Rib Dinner * Chicken * Smoked Sausage * Salad Bar * Baked Potato, Sweet Potato, or Fries In my opinion, this is a classic approach -- keep the menu simple so the food and experience can shine. Based on reviews I had read on Facebook and Yelp, the advice was to arrive early or expect a line. Since this was our 20th anniversary dinner, we arrived about 30 minutes before opening and waited comfortably in the parking lot. Good move -- we were seated right when the doors opened at 4:30. The atmosphere inside is dimly lit and quaint, giving it a relaxed small-town steakhouse vibe. Our server Virginia greeted us quickly, took our drink order, and we both ordered the 12 oz sirloin with baked potatoes. The salad bar is simple but well done. One detail I loved: refrigerated salad plates -- in my opinion that's the only proper way to serve a side salad. The offerings included iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, onions, shredded carrots, cucumbers, chives, croutons, and dressings like blue cheese, French/Catalina, and ranch. They also offer fried okra and pinto beans, which adds a nice Oklahoma touch. Instead of rolls, each diner receives a barbecue rib to start the meal -- now that's a unique and delicious idea. Our steaks arrived shortly after. I ordered mine medium rare, my wife went with medium rare plus, and both were excellent. The first bite had that unmistakable mesquite flavor, and the seasoning was spot on. Honestly, we probably didn't need the 12 oz steaks -- neither of us finished them. Could I have? Sure. But why be miserable? The meal was outstanding and exactly what we were hoping for on a special night. The only small disappointment was that there are no dessert options, but that's hardly a deal breaker. Final thoughts: Ken's Steak & Ribs is absolutely worth the trip. It takes a little planning because of their limited hours, but if you're looking for a classic Oklahoma steakhouse experience, this place delivers. We'll definitely be back.

They open at 4:30 and there were just a few tables left. The venue is in an old vintage building so common across small town Oklahoma. It's definitely casual with a very relaxed atmosphere. There is no menu and the offerings are limited: prime rib, sirloin steak and ribs. There is a wonderful salad bar. The salad is cold, as are the plates. On the salad bar is fried Okra and brown beans. They also offer a complimentary rib for each diner. The rib was very good. I ordered the sirloin. It was cooked to order and was flavorful. Sirloin is not a cut I would order if given options. Wish they had filet, T-bone and ribeye on the menu. Jan ordered the prime rib. It was nice and she enjoyed it. Texas Toast is served with the meal. It was nice to do something different. We enjoyed the meal. The hospitality was exceptional. The service very good. The prices are moderate. They do not serve alcoholic beverages.

We were seated quickly, and drinks were served. We were told by the server that she had to "make" the lemonade, and she seemed put out that we ordered it. Then when she refilled it, she did it with a paper cup. Stating they didn't have any clean glasses left. They forgot to give us crayons for the kid's menu, straws for our drinks and silverware. We waited about 45 minutes to get our first course. My husband had a side salad that was fine, but we were served a 1/2 serving of Queso that was completely cold and a smattering of chips. We got chili too and it was extremely thin. We asked how much longer the food would be at an hour. She said we are almost there. She said that she would bring rolls to hold us over as my 4-year-old was starving. She proceeded to get rolls from the kitchen and deliver them to the booth next to ours. they said "we didn't order bread" then she took them off their table and dropped them at ours. At 1 hour and 15 minutes and no sign of food in sight. We asked for our tab. $15 later. We left irritated, frustrated and hungry. The server had the audacity to ask us to leave a review after charging us full price for the items that we received thus far. We went to Burger King across the street. I couldn't leave a review on the food because we never got our meal.
