A friend recommended Dar Poeta and we are going to recommend it out as well. The four of us sat outside and had a lovely lunch. We ate around 2pm and it was busy but not too crowded, the service was good, the food was great. We ordered pizza and it was great, but if you have had your fill of pizza, try the calzoni, they were really good. I ordered bruschetta and pasta pomodoro and I was so happy, the pasta was so fresh and the sauce was perfect. Enjoy a glass of wine and walk around the artsy neighborhood.
Intro: After a long day of exploring Rome, I was in the Trastevere neighborhood and I was looking for a dinner spot. Dar Poeta was on my list and it was a close walk from where I was, so I made my way. While the restaurant was close to capacity, I was seated promptly at a table outside. Service (3/5): Standard European service. A little slow and not terribly efficient. You may need to get ahold of the waiter's attention to get what you want. But comparable to other restaurants in Italy. Ambiance (4/5): Italy is all about al fresco dining and this is a great place to do it. Trastevere is my favorite part of Rome for dining and nightlife. Many have compared it to Greenwich Village in New York. It's a charming part of town. Drinks (4/5): I tried a beer from Sicily (a large one at that) which was served with a glass. A refreshing accompaniment to my meal. Food (4.5/5): Italy is known for its pizza but can we get some love for calzones too? I had pizza several times during my Italy trip but I wanted to have a calzone at least once too. And I'm glad I did! They only have two or three calzone options here and a long list of pizzas, but don't let that deter you. I had the sausage and mozzarella calzone and it was beyond delicious. First off, it was huge! To the point that I ate half and the other half became lunch the next day. The calzone was cooked just right and brushed with butter. The stretchy mozzarella oozes out of the calzone with every bite. It was so good that I'm happy I had the self-control to only eat half of it. I wanted to eat it all but knew that wasn't the best decision. Overall: If you're looking for a restaurant that specializes in delectable pizzas in the coolest neighborhood in Rome, check out Dar Poeta. Their menu has a lot more than pizza if you're looking for something else.
This place was phenomenal - such a hidden gem. There was a bit of a wait to sit down, but it was well worth it. The limoncello was great as were the pizzas we had. One had spicy pepperoni and spicy peppers and the other was a sausage calzone. Both were phenomenal. We finished with tiramisu - some of the best i've ever had. You won't regret visiting this place!
We came on a Sunday afternoon and it was busy but I didn't realize there was a queue but it was fine because we arrived and I told the gentleman that we were four and he added us to the list. There were tables both inside and outside (more outside). After a short wait, they called us and we got a table outside. The menu was posted on a large board so we had time to ponder it and we were ready when we sat down. I had beer and pizza with mushrooms and artichokes (my fave). We also got a marinara pizza, which was surprisingly good, and a couple of salads. It wasn't too hot in the shade and the pizza was very good. It was a pleasant Sunday afternoon meal in a cool part of Rome.
This was our first stop in Rome as it was right around the corner from our air bnb and we were craving some pizza! This napoleon style pizza was crispy and had fresh ingredients plus the tiramisu was super creamy and delicious, but in my opinion could use more lady fingers! The only thing I have to say is that we did want to go back but it was closed randomly so we only got to eat here once! This was a great pizza spot in Trastevere.
In my opinion, Dar Poeta is in the top 2 pizza places in Roma. Dar Poeta's pizza is thin and holds its shape as you eat. The crust is crispy, chewy, and has that great almost charred taste from the oven. I got the Dar Poeta pizza and it was truly amazing I wish I could eat more than one pizza in a sitting. Another thing to note is the pizzas, like most places in Rome are personal sized. Dar Poeta offers indoor or outdoor seating. They also have a second location where the pizza is sold by the slice. overall: 10/10 you are missing out if you don't come to Dar Poeta
We found this place when looking for dinner on Yelp and Google and decided to try it. There was a lot of people waiting outside. We waited 25 mins for a table. They do charge cover here (1.50 euro per person). The crust was thin but still fluffy. It wasn't floppy except for the amatriciana (it was a little floppy towards the center). Amatriciana - my favorite! I loved how saucy it was and the tomato sauce was very acidic and tart. The pancetta and pecorino cheese added a lot of flavor to the tomato sauce. Top - very creamy! The funghi porcini added a lot of flavor! Bufula - the basil and cherry tomatoes made the pizza feel lighter. The buffalo mozzarella was added after baking which was unique. Overall, this is the best pizza I've had in Rome.
Looking for a great pizza in Roma that's been around for 30 years, this is the place. You know it's good when the place is very busy! We sat outside, great vide! When in Rome you start off with a carafe of red wine! We got some spicy pasta to share, it was amazing! And a Marinara and Special pizza with ham and a pesto and crusted pistachio's amazing! One of my favorite Italian places. Such a gem for lunch- the pizzas are unmatched. Very affordable and quality is amazing. We split a couple pies.. definitely could split one pizza between two people. We got various ones/ zucchini sausage, margarita, mozzarella and etc. everything was soo delish and great quality ingredients. Overall a definite recommend read more
So good! We came here for lunch after hitting all the sights in Vatican City. So, so good. Both of our pizzas were great and the perfect amount of food to refuel us for the day. Vibes are phenomenal in Trastevere with flowers and all sorts of vegetation. No roads which makes the restaurant that much nicer. Service was kind. We'd for sure come back! read more

The food and service was great, tucked away and so perfect. You can't go wrong with the sausage and zucchini pasta, it's so refreshing. We got a dish that had potato and mortadella to start and it was absolutely delicious. read more

Food is amazing. Pizza is really good here! Service was great! Seating was fast and the food came out fast. Loved how quaint the restaurant was and liked the sign that said no WiFi just talk to each other! My go to pizza here! read more

They were able to seat us inside right away. The service was quick. We had a bruschetta with tomatoes that was a bit salty. The pizza did taste good but would have liked some basil added. The restaurant was lively and in a great area. read more

This was such a cute little place that's tucked in Trastevere. The ambiance was very peaceful, and my fiancé and I were able to enjoy our lunch without all the loud noises. We got the suppli and a regular Margherita pizza. They're both to die for. Definitely stop by when you're in Rome. read more

Tourist review ** Great spot south of the Vatican. Recommended from friends who lived here for months and it did not disappoint. They were busy, but seat you quickly. Bring your patience, order some wine, and be prepared to place your order when they return to take it. Highly recommend read more

Hands down, one of the best pizzas I've ever had! While visiting Rome, we asked a local to recommend his favorite pizza spot in Trastevere and this is where he took us. For one, the spot was super lovely and didn't feel as touristy as the other places we had visited. We enjoyed sitting outdoors and having a peaceful meal. The pizza did not disappoint and I found myself wanting to come back the next day! I would definitely recommend! read more

We love this place - we heard about this place from our friends - decided to check it out on a Thursday evening - the area is popping. We were able to get seated right away - decided to just order one pizza - the Bufala pizza. For two people - we downed it so fast - that we ordered another pizza - the Dar Poeta pizza - zucchini and sausage and lots of mozarella. We cleaned up both pizzas. Our mistake was to order the nutella and pistachio tiramisu - skip the dessert - it was mediocre and too sugary - we had better tiramisu (actually we made better tiramisu in Italy few days later) But.. the memories of the pizza at Dar Poeta lingered on us, so much that we came back a few days later on a Saturday night -but unfortunately, it was even more packed. There was a long line just to get seated (both indoors and outdoors) so we decided to order a pizza to go and it was ready in just 10 minutes. We got a ride back to our Hotel and enjoyed our pizza. If you ever get a chance visit this place and order the Bufala! read more

Dar Poeta served the best pizza we had during our time in Rome. It was highly recommended by my son's teacher and it didn't disappoint! There is a large variety of pizza options. My family tried 4 types which we all enjoyed. We also liked the suppli and prosciutto/ Buffalo mozzarella appetizers. They have ample seating indoors and outside. It's on a quiet street, so lovely to sit outside when the weather cooperates. read more

Great pizza. Lots of choices, both with tomato sauce and without. We had a mozzarella, mortadella and pesto with buffalo mozzarella and then on with tomato, salami and hot pepper and mozzarella. Both very tasty. Good suppli too...had the cacio e pep one and ate it too fast to take a photo. Yum! Nice house red, brucetta and 2 soft drinks for 42 euro. Good servers. Fairly big inside and out in this tiny alley. read more

We visited Travestere and walked around, including the botanical garden and got pretty hungry by lunch. Found this place, again through yelp and since we have been eating pasta since coming to Italy, we decided to try pizza. I realized after seeing the signs that this was one of the most instagrammed restos in Travestere. It didn't disappoint! We were promptly seated and servers were attentive. Nice and cool inside, and how funny the sign said "no wifi" and suggested that customers spend quality time with their companions. That was pretty neat. We ordered limoncello spritz and enjoyed it. We also started with an assortment of meats and cheese as a starter and even my very discerning German husband had good things to say from the freshness of the cheese, to the tasty meats and really good olive oil Pizza was also very good, although next time we will just share one as honestly each pizza was a good size for 2 people if you are like us who always order starters to share. read more

This is the best pizza in Rome! We were recommended this restaurant by a family friend and we are so happy we listened. The service was fast and the beers were refreshing. The ingredients on the pizza tasted so fresh. We both loved our pizza and we wanted more! YOU HAVE TO EAT HERE if you're in the area. Parking sucks so prepare for that beforehand. read more

Wish i could give this 10 stars. Only thing that's changed about this spot in the 8 years since I last dined there is the crowd that is lined up all night. We showed up probably around 8pm and were probably the 6th or 7th group in line. Wait time was not bad for 2 people, although we did see larger groups (4+) wait for a very very long time. A larger group behind us actually went up the street to buy beers to drink while they waited. Food here is... beyond amazing. We ordered the caprese salad (so fresh & delicious, but not sure I'd order next time strictly to save room for more pizza), bosciola & lingua de foco. Best pizza of our lives. Go and order honestly anything and you will not regret it. *definitely have extra patience once you get seated - we had one waitress handling every outdoor table, so get those drink orders in early so you stay busy while you wait read more
We enjoyed this restaurant so much the first time, we went back again. Martina even remembered us. We had to have again the Bruschetta with honey and gorgonzola and the Sampietrino pizza with Mozzarella cheese - zucchini cream - mortadella and fresh buffalo mozzarella - both scrumptious. We decided we would be eating here every week if we lived in Rome. Their pizza is that good. read more
Do yourself a favor and walk over to the Trastevere neighborhood while you're in Roma, not just for the cool vibes but for the awesome pizza at Dar Poeta. I've eaten a good amount of pizza throughout Italy, and sometimes they seem to run together. However, Dar Poeta's pizza stands out. From the seemingly unlimited options/combinations to the high-quality ingredients, this pizza definitely is heads-and-shoulders above any I've tried in Roma. No matter what you like on your pizza, the outcome won't disappoint. Not to mention, the price point is very reasonable for the quality. I'd highly recommend this as one of the top two pizzas I've had in Italy. read more

The best Napoletana style pizza I had in Rome! The city of Rome is not exactly known for their good pizza. Most of the restaurants only serve Roman dishes which includes mostly pastas. The few pizzas you usually find on the menus, are not exactly the best and they are catered to tourists. Dar Poeta is different because they specializes in pizza and calzones....and they are the best in the city! Another amazing thing about Dar Poeta is that they are open a little later than most restaurants, which makes it a great spot to stop by after a few cocktails. During my visit to Dar Peta, I had the pizza with prosciutto, cheese, and salami. My pizza was everything I could've asked for! The flavor of the meats, the cheese, the dough....everything was just perfect! My husband had a little of my pizza and agreed that it was so much better than his hahaha. I'll be back! read more

Very good pizza! With lots of good options in Rome, it's hard to find bad pizza, but would definitely recommend this place if you're in the mood for a potato sausage pizza! It's very different than anything I've had in the US and I would definitely try it again if I'm ever back in town. The space is a tight little pizza shop heated from the fires of the oven. The service is quick - in true Italian fashion. read more

Off the beaten path little pizza place. Best pizza I've had in Italy. The crust was perfectly baked and all the ingredients were fresh. The service was super fast and the waiter was friendly. We made a great choice in Trastevere. You won't be disappointed. read more
